Once Jeff had been bundled out of the consultant’s office, and told it was mum to be and doctor for a few minutes, Kath was very honest with the woman, and told her that she was a sub. The doctor smiled and touched the ornate silver and turquoise necklace she wore. “Yeah, me too, though I admit, if I didn’t know you, I’d never had said so. Sir and I have never played at Diomhair. I’ll have to see if he will come with me to check it out, especially if there’s somewhere private to play. Neither of us can afford to be outed, but it would be nice to try out a new space. Now, let’s set out some parameters for
your
play.”

After a few minutes discussing what was appropriate or not, Kath sighed. “I have a horrid feeling that however bratty I get, my playing is going to be of the piano sort.”

Emma laughed. “Sorry, that’s life. But you know limited play will be fine. That’s why I’ve given you that pamphlet—to give you ideas. However, you and I know it’s not up to us to decide that.”

“Yeah, and I’ve got more than me looking as green as cabbage and wanting to sleep all the time to contend with. Ah well I’ll have to be sneaky, and pay for it once the baby is born. And you know, if you and your Sir do decide to come to Diomhair, you can be sure of privacy and discretion. There’s something for everyone. Except, I bet, me. Mind you, our child comes first, so even if it was no play until he or she is five, I’d suck it up.”

Emma touched Kath’s arm in a sympathetic gesture, and after a further five minutes playing ‘do you remember’, Kath asked the questions uppermost in her mind.

“Um, well, as Jeff is a twin, his mum lost one of another pair of twins and my great gran was a twin…”

“What’s the likelihood?” Dr Lynn finished for her. “Well, let’s say I wouldn’t be at all surprised, because fraternal twins are hereditary. Don’t go buying a one baby pram yet.”

“Yeah, so, er, sex?”

“No idea yet.” The doctor grinned. “Oh, you mean can you? Of course you can. Read the pamphlets, they’re not solely aimed at our lifestyle. If you’re anything like I was, I couldn’t get enough of Tom. I was all for jumping him at every opportunity. Luckily he’s an obstetrician as well, and didn’t freak. I was as horny as a rhino, and by the end, I reckoned I resembled one. Go for it, enjoy it and remember once you have the baby—or babies—you’ll be too knackered for sex, except to think of it as a fond memory. Sleep will take priority and so it should do. Now go and be a sex goddess, you’re fit and healthy, and everything is as it should be.”

“So there we are.” Kath sat half sideways in the passenger seat, and looked at Jeff as he started the car and headed down the bumpy road out of the village. She had the same fuzzy feeling as she got when she’d eaten too many caramels, or drunk one more glass of wine than was sensible. Floaty, churning stomach and butterflies stroking her skin. “The results are back. We’re expecting a new addition to the Sutherland-Baine family. And like I said, the doctor, Emma’s an old school friend. That’s one reason why I chose her, well apart from the fact I’ve only ever heard good things about her. So I’m all signed up and they’ve drained me of blood. We go and get the ultrasound when they say so, I get cravings for fish and chips at two o’clock in the morning, and stop being able to see my feet, and you get to massage me. When we play, I’ll have to stop to pee. Maybe we need a new safe word for that?” She didn’t comment on the way Jeff’s lips firmed, and a line appeared above his eyes. Kath had a nasty itch across her shoulders. The one which usually spelled out something she wouldn’t like. “Then in however many months and weeks from now, I wake you up in the middle of the night, say my waters have broken and we need to go to Glasgow like that instant,” she added quickly. “You jump out of bed, fall over your shoes, lose the car keys and…”

“And stop before I panic.” Jeff slowed the car at the end of the drive. “Let’s take it one step at a time and get used to the idea. First things first. We’ll discuss playing later. We need big changes there.”

A large lump of something nasty wedged itself in Kath’s chest. She didn’t like the sound of that. She wasn’t stupid, and knew there would need to be changes, but Jeff’s tone set alarm bells ringing. However, he continued speaking before she was able to ask him to clarify what he meant.

“Are we really using both names?” Jeff asked. “I sort of hoped you might consent to both of you being Sutherlands. You know, wear my ring as well as my collar. Shit, Kath, I wanted to do this all romantically and properly, not in the car trying to miss potholes.”

“Eh?” What was he saying? Kath forgot her worrying over their lifestyle options and blinked. She wasn’t sure she’d heard him right, but no way was he copping out on the whole hearts and flowers thing. Especially after that ominous sentence about playing. “Expand.”

He stopped the car at the entrance to the drive of the castle and turned toward Kath. “There’s no room to get down on my knee, but I will later if you want me to. And take that look out of your eyes, pet. It’s a one off. But, Kathleen Susan Baine, will you marry me?”

“Not if you trot all that mouthful out.” Kath laughed. Her skin tingled and she would love to be able to punch the air. “Yes, please, after Bump is born.”

“After?” His tone was full of disbelief. “Why after?”

“After,” Kath repeated in a firm voice. She hoped he’d understand. There was nothing she’d like more once she didn’t think the sight of fish would make her go green and the thought of champagne nauseate her. “I want a slinky tight white dress with a garter and my collar. I want everyone to wonder how I got into it, if there’s anything under it and how you’re going to get me out of it. And I want to eat, drink and be merry, and show everyone how bloody lucky I am to have you as my Sir and my husband. I want Bump here to gurgle and wave hands around as we say I do, and I want everyone to coo over what a gorgeous family we are. Oh, and I’d like it to be in May, before the midges and when it’s maybe nice weather, and get married at the castle. In the dungeon maybe?”

Jeff laughed as she’d hoped he would. “Strapped to the St. Andrew’s Cross and a flogger handy if you don’t answer fast enough? I can see it now.”

So could she. Kath went warm and wet at the thought and squirmed in her seat. She slipped her hand across her lap and toward the top of her legs. He saw and grinned. “Stop that. My climax, my say so.”

Kath made a face. She might have guessed he’d see her movement and interpret it correctly. “Yes, Sir.”

Jeff shook his head, his eyes clear and sparking with good humor.

At least I’ve got rid of the worry in his eyes.

“I can see I’ll need to be creative in my punishments.”

“Oh, I hope so, Sir.”

“Bratty sub.”

Kath ran her tongue over her lips as she remembered the doctor’s speech, and turned her attention to Jeff.

“Hmm, well anyway, I’ll be honored to marry you, look forward to the down on one knee bit and hope you understand why I want to wait?”

“I so do, pet. I love the sound of an almost there dress. Can I help you chose it, check it for access and all that?” His grin was pure devilment, and Kath was oh so pleased to see it replace the strained and worried look he’d worn since he’d carried her out of their playroom.

“Hah, in your dreams. You just start thinking of your best man, and what you’re going to wear. I really fancy putting Jess in rubber and Velcro. Oh, and speeches and bridesmaid presents are up to you, but then that’ll be easy. Thanks for the twenty-seven sets of cuffs and assorted floggers, oh, and our present to the bridesmaid is a new St. Andrew’s Cross.” She sniggered as she decided she liked the scenario she conjured up. “I wonder who can officiate. I bet there’s a vicar on the members list. We’ve got almost every other profession.”

“Don’t fish.”

Kath giggled. She wasn’t fishing exactly. After all, she helped out with the admin, and might not be privy to everything, but even she could make a fair assumption when an address was given as ‘The Manse’, and in the box for title it didn’t say Mr, it said Reverend.

“Sorry, but you know what I mean. If not the dungeon, at least a marquee in the grounds?” Even she’d worry about some of their friends entering the club itself.

Jeff started the car again. “Okay, it’s a deal. End of May, we have a date.”

Kath liked the sound of that.

However, she didn’t like the sound of his firm ‘no’, later. She’d accepted his down on one knee proposal and rolled him backwards to wriggle over him and try to undo his denims. He’d been happy to exchange kiss for kiss, and even let her run her fingers around his nipples. Jeff had rubbed her back in the erotic little circles that made her thighs damp and her pussy clench in anticipation of welcoming his cock. Damn if she had hair there, it would be as frizzy as the hair on her head in a rainstorm. He’d kissed the side of her neck, and Kath had shivered with hot ripples of arousal. She’d lifted his hands up and pushed her chest toward them. “Touch me, please, Sir. Yes it’s bratty and I know I can’t be punished as we’d like, not yet.”

“Not for a long time, so stop it. Making love and playing will have to wait. We need to take care of you both.”

What?
Kath wasn’t sure she’d heard him properly
.
“I need you, and I need you now. You’re about to bust the zip of your jeans and I’m about dripping with the need to feel you in me. It’s normal and natural, and you say no? Why?”

His mouth set in a firm line, and his expression was one of ‘do not mess with me’. Sadly, not his don’t diss a Dom one. That one Kath could be bratty about. This was something new, and it sent shivers of an unpleasant kind skittering down her spine.

“Not until you pass three months.” Jeff’s tone was implacable. “That’s what I’ve read. I’m not prepared to risk our child for a quick wham bam thank you…”

“Don’t you dare say another fucking word.” Kath dug her nails into her palms again, this time to stop herself slapping him. How dare he think she thought otherwise? “If you even have a tiny doubt about how I feel about the safety of our child, well, go fuck yourself. With a fireman’s hose. You’re an asshole. No, don’t come near me, I’m so mad I could scream.”

Kath sat back and rubbed her own nipples. They were tender but not sore, and she wanted his hands there not hers, but she had to try to ease the ache there. The ache in her heart wouldn’t be assuaged so easily.

“Stop it, Kath, this isn’t about us, it’s about the baby.”

She poked him hard in the chest. “You need to read a more up-to-date book, mate. I asked the doctor. There’s no bloody reason why we can’t make love, have sex, fuck, screw or go at it like rabbits.” She quashed the little voice that added within reason. That was a given. “I’m pregnant not ill. I’m not even anemic, and I wasn’t sick today.”
Well, not a lot.
“And I’m fucking horny.”

“So was my mum. Pregnant, not ill. Or so she said. But I saw her, Kath, and no way do I want to see you like that.” Jeff shook his head. The misery in his eyes reached out to her and she took a deep breath, to tell him okay, whatever. But he hadn’t finished.

“Hell, yesterday, I thought you were going to pass out. So we wait. Nothing, nada, zilch. It’s not that long, and then if the Doctor says it’s not harmful, well, we can see.”

“You reckon?” Kath wanted to press her ears to see if they were working properly. “We’ll see. Look, Jeff, this is thirty years on, I’m not your mum and my doctor says I’m fit well, and she knows I wouldn’t do anything to harm our child. If you think that, well, sod you.” To her annoyance, Kath started to cry. “All I want to make love, not scene in the dungeon. Even though Dr Lynn said a bit of bondage or a blindfold was fine. Hell, even a few wee taps would be within the boundaries of okay. Well, if you won’t help, then I’ll have to do it myself, and that’s nowhere near as good. I want you in me. Bloody pregnancy hormones.” She sniffed. “And no bloody tissues.”

Jeff handed her a box of paper hankies and waited while she blew her nose. Then he spoke so softly she had to strain to hear him.

“I couldn’t bear it if anything happened to either of you because I couldn’t control my dick.”

“It’s not your bloody dick, it’s my clit that’s in overdrive.”

Chapter Four

She was wrong, his dick was more than in overdrive, but Jeff stuck to his guns.

It wasn’t solely due to worry over his mum—he now accepted that was irrational. Holding Kath’s hair out of the way of the toilet, sponging her face when she stopped throwing up and making sure there was tepid water and dry crackers around, plus the worry over strange happenings on the estate was adding to his high levels of anxiety. Once she’d gotten over her sickness, she was almost her old quicksilver self, and apart from a thickening of her waist and her even more voluptuous breasts, you’d never know she was pregnant. However, there were lines around her eyes, and she looked drawn and tired. Jeff willed his dick to behave and did his best to ignore her sighs and sorrowful looks. It was damned hard, especially when she ‘accidentally’ stroked her boobs, or ran her hand over his dick. He’d grit his teeth and do his best to ignore the provocation. Even though he’d spoken to the doctor, the miserable video flickering through his mind couldn’t let him touch her in any more than a friendly, loving, but no sex way. Nor could he speak his fears to Kath, because that would make them all the more real.

Every so often she’d try to run her hand up Jeff’s shirt or down his jeans. Every time, he stopped her.

“If you can’t then neither can I.”

Kath pouted. They were alone in her office, and Jeff’s dick was rapidly gaining zipper teeth marks along its length. Kath wore a blouse that had fitted where it touched even before she became pregnant. Now her boobs threatened to burst the buttons. It was agony. She knew it of course. He’d lost count of the number of times she’d had to refasten the top button. Every other breath seemed to pop it. Each time, her hand stroked the soft swell of her breast, and her tongue circled her lips. He lived with a permanent hard-on.
