I appreciate it,” he growled, falling to his knees in front of her, pressing his face against her sex, breathing deeply. Holding her hip, he pressed a reverent kiss on the damp curls before looking up at her and spoke in a gravelly voice, “You don’t know what you do to me, Lexi.”

Her entire body shivered from the heat she saw in his eyes, the heat of his breath against her skin, and her heart skipped a beat or two in her chest. She ran her fingers along his hair line, cupping his jaw in her hand. “It’s what you do to me.”

He made a gruff sound as he untied the delicate strings holding the scraps of her panties together. Tucking the lacy bit into his pocket, he ran his hand up her leg, hooking her knee over his shoulder and opening her to his perusal. Then he buried his face between her thighs, breathing deeply and nuzzling her sex. She moaned at the first swipe of his tongue; her fingers twisted in his silky black hair. Her legs felt like rubber and without his strong hands holding her up, she would have melted. As it was, she only knew bliss from the mouth of her lover.

He suckled her clit into his mouth, gently biting it before soothing the slight pain with his tongue. Two, thick fingers were pushed into her sex and she swore she could see stars dancing around Duncan’s head. Over and over he tortured her until pleasure welled up and exploded outwards and her fingers convulsed in his hair as she came.

She was desperate to feel him in her and, dropping her leg to the ground, she urged him to his feet. In a move that would have taken years to perfect, he stood, releasing his erection and pushing his pants down his thighs. At the last moment, he slipped on a condom. Grabbing her hips, he thrust into her, growling as he sank into her swollen and wet sex.

Lexi’s back arched as Duncan filled her, re-igniting the fading embers of the orgasm he just gave her. Crying out, she wrapped her arms around his neck, her legs around his hips. His head was pressed against her throat as he thrust into her, his breathing ragged and harsh and wonderful.

Over and over, for mindless eternities, he pumped in and out, keeping her on the razor's edge of orgasm until he pushed her over. She held him even tighter as his body stiffened and he grunted his release. Kissing his damp temple, she let her love wash over him as they stood there panting in the after math.

You drive me insane, woman,” he growled, gently easing his body from hers. He frowned when he removed the condom, not sure where to put it. With a grimace, he held it in his hand, needing to dispose of it discreetly.

Looking up at him, she cupped his face, feeling the smooth plane of his closely-shaved jaw. “You….”

The elevator lurched and they jumped apart at the same moment, hastily pulling themselves together before the elevator doors opened and they were discovered. Lexi looked around the small, enclosed space, nearing panic. “Where are my panties?”

Looking around, Duncan shrugged his broad shoulders, “I don’t see them.”

She frowned as she fastened the last button of her dress. Patting her wig, she made a face, half-smile half-grimace. “I seem to lose my panties around you.”

I wish you’d lose the wigs,” he murmured, looking at the short, blond bob framing her beautiful face. He finished tucking his shirt in, looking as if he didn’t just have the most mind-blowing sex of the century. Why that should perturb Lexi, she didn’t know. While he looked just as put together as ever, she was pretty sure everyone was going to be able to tell she just had some pretty fantastic sex. All they would have to do was take one look at her and they would know.

Cocking her head to the side, she asked, “You don’t like my wigs?”

"I prefer you." He reached out and brushed his fingertips along her jaw, but before he could say more, the doors opened and they returned to the real world. Clearing his throat, he stepped back and held out his arm for her to precede him, “After you, Miss Darling.”

Slightly disconcerted, she got out of the elevator before him. After a few steps, she turned around to ask him something, maybe to just look at him, but he was already walking away, his back towards her, one hand in his pocket. His other hand was in a tight fist. And she smiled.

She was going to have to make a quick stop at the bathroom before heading to her office; she smelled like sex and Duncan and she wanted to adjust her clothes, just to make sure she didn’t look completely ravaged.

Duncan paced back and forth in his office, feeling like a caged wolf. He should have followed his first instinct and not read her work but that wouldn’t have been fair to her. After her first e-mail, which had had him laughing in spite of himself, he knew she had a gift for bringing her stories to vibrant, vivid life.. He had no choice but to read everything she wrote, which meant finding all of the back issues of his new magazine.

Now, having read all of her columns, including the latest one featuring her new photo and write up of Cole Christian’s photography, he was impressed. Very impressed. It was not what he expected –
she
was not what he expected. Her writing was informative but didn’t take itself too seriously, as if the events everyone felt were crucial were, in fact, secondary to the art of truly living. They even shared many of the same values, though they expressed them differently; she took a much more festive approach to life. He found himself laughing out loud on several occasions, imagining Lexi so clearly, so perfectly, in her crazy outfits existing out loud, embracing life, freedom, joy and occasionally sorrow.

Her stories had such depths and every now and then he got the feeling that Lexi was... lonely; that she loved deeply but was terrified of not being loved in return. But that was ridiculous; everyone loved her.

Everyone.

Over the course of twelve days, she managed to burrow her way into his head and she was all he could think about. She was addictive and he found that intermittent e-mails or texts, or even her full length columns, were not enough. He wanted the girl and last night when things had gotten heated during their text exchange he knew that he was going to be hunting her down as soon as he got to the office. Of course Lexi managed to even turn those tables on him, stepping onto his elevator and smelling like Lexi and spring time and desire.

He had planned on keeping a professional detachment from her until they had a more private setting but then she bumped up against him on the elevator and he found his fingers tangling with hers…. He didn’t even last the morning of being in her presence. She intrigued him like nothing had ever done before, and having made love to her – twice – he was definitely infatuated. His wolf was infatuated. It would have been better had he been able to avoid her like he had been doing since he almost ran into her at the restaurant.

How could he let her continue working at the magazine when she so completely and utterly destroyed his self-control? But how could he let her go? Granted, after he wrapped up what he was doing, which was learning the ins and outs of the magazine to run it more efficiently, he wasn’t planning on working full time out of the
lavish
offices. He had plenty of places he could run his empire. But knowing that Lexi would be here, in this building, he wouldn’t be able to keep himself away.

His wolf wouldn’t let him stay away and that was worrisome; the beast was straining even harder against the constraints they had agreed upon all of those years ago.
Are you still afraid of losing yourself, fearless one?

Duncan’s hands squeezed into fists as his wolf whispered in his head.
I’m afraid of being trapped in my own body, watching as you destroy the world and not being able to do anything to stop you.

Give me the girl and you can have the world.

Duncan laughed without humor, falling back into his chair and staring at the blank monitor, seeing his silver eyes glowing. The wolf was gaining strength; Duncan could feel the chains breaking and he knew that there would come a time he was going to have to confront the beast. Again. Closing his eyes, he tried to shut out the sound of the wolf’s voice, but the whispered words only grew louder.

With her I wouldn’t need to see the world burn to feel alive. Give me the girl.

She’s not mine to give or take.

Then let me have a taste,
the wolf demanded relentlessly
. Give me a nibble and I will be your devoted servant once more.

No; she’s mine until the end.

At least I would have shared,
the wolf complained with a huff.
But I’ll let you have your way for now because it is only a matter of time before you bond with me and the girl will be ours.

Duncan sighed wearily, pressing his fingers into his eyes and rubbing until the black dots turned white. If he allowed the wolf to go free, if he bonded with it, he could claim Lexi and not give a damn that he might hurt her in the end. As painful as he knew it would be to lose her, to destroy her, he would take her for the simple fact that he wanted her. As a wolf, he wouldn’t worry about the consequences, the fall out; he would have Lexi and that would be all that mattered.

Until she was lying on the ground in searing agony, crying red tears and sweating red blood, because he bit her. God, he couldn't bear that; he would control the wolf for a few weeks more. After Lexi was safe and far, far away from him and the wolf, he would deal with the beast head on,

He would continue to exist on the line, keeping Lexi safe as he devoured her whole.

The rest of the day was spent putting out fires and dealing with the everyday business of running his small kingdom. Even though he was able to get his work done, his thoughts were always occupied by Lexi; the way her mind worked, how she fought with him, how she melted into him; the clothes she wore, the way she looked without the clothes she wore. Looking at his watch he realized that it was almost five; almost time to call it a week.

He had to see her, now, before she left for the weekend. Without giving himself time to change his mind, not that he would, he left the relative safety of his office. He barely paid attention to any of the other writers and what not as he made his way through the maze to her office, so intent he was on getting to her. Damn it, he was putting his finger on the knot while she tied the bow. And instead of being annoyed about it, he found himself hoping the bow was straight.

Pushing the door open, prepared for just about anything, he wasn’t prepared for what he saw. Her back was towards him as she leaned over her desk, her dress rising up the back of her thighs threatening to reveal her lack of panties. His heart thudded painfully in his chest and his body blazed with lust. She was tapping her foot, and he realized that she was listening to music through head phones.

She was unaware of his presence.

Carefully closing the door so it didn’t slam shut and alert her to his presence, he slowly turned the lock to keep everyone out. Between holding his breath and losing his blood as it rushed to his penis, he was feeling slightly faint. And very horny. He knew what was beneath that dress – or what wasn’t beneath it – and he wanted it.

As he moved closer to her, he opened his pants, releasing his erection. Even though he took her in the elevator just a few hours before, his penis was dark plum red, just as desperate as the rest of his body to be in her. He ran his fist along the length and had to swallow a groan as he grabbed a condom from his packet and tore it open, quickly suiting up. How he longed to feel her flesh to flesh.

Unable to resist, he pressed his erection against the crevice of her butt as his hands gripped her thighs. She jumped, grabbing the headphones and yanking them off her head. He held her in place as she fought to turn around, whispering in her ear, “Relax, it’s me.”

Her entire body sighed as she relaxed into him, “Duncan; you scared me.”

I’m sorry,” he murmured, running his tongue along her neck and smiling when she mewed in pleasure. His hands slid around her legs until they touched her most intimate flesh and he was rewarded with another mew. “I couldn’t resist.”

Lexi turned her head, seeking his mouth as he slid a finger into the quickly swelling folds of her sex. When he brushed a particularly sensitive spot, her back arched, pushing her against his hand and she moaned. He broke the kiss, keeping his lips next to her ear and he whispered, “You’re already wet.”

I haven’t stopped thinking about you all day,” she admitted guilelessly, not caring that she was handing him her heart and her secrets. He pumped a finger into her wet depths and she gasped, closing her eyes in pleasure. “I had to listen to my music to concentrate.”

Did it work?” he asked, rubbing his erection against her, feelings so much more exquisite since it was Lexi’s body he was dry humping.

N…no,” her breath caught as his fingers moved in her. Her head dropped forward and her breathing was ragged, “I’ve been walking around all day without my panties on and every draft of air against my bare skin made me think about you, about the elevator.”

He closed his eyes and took a long breath, trying to savor the pleasurable torment of waiting just a little bit longer. It didn’t work. On a ragged groan, he nudged her legs apart and pressed the tip of his erection against the entrance to her body. “Are you ready for me?”
