Soldiers of Chaos- Chaos Abounds: Book 1 in the Soldiers of Chaos series (2 page)

She sat up quickly sliding herself out from under creepy guy’s body. Roach tried a half crawl, half dive move to get to his gun but Nikki fired on him again bullet eight going into his right thigh and nine his left shoulder. He flopped to the floor screaming and swearing rolling onto his back. She picked up the creepy guy’s knife and pushed to her feet keeping one eye and the gun on Roach. “Don’t fucking move asshole!” She limped toward him and fell to her knees. He lurched towards her and she brought the grip of the gun down on his head knocking him unconscious but she wasn’t sure for how long. She needed the handcuff keys. She scrambled over the floor searching for them. Shit, shit, shit. A glint behind the door caught her eye. Keys. She’d have to put down the gun to remove the cuffs herself. She placed the knife then the gun on the floor in front of her pointed towards the unconscious Roach and uncuffed herself glancing furtively between him and her wrists. The cuffs clicked open and she dropped them quickly to the floor. She scooped up her weapons and stared at him. What was she doing? She should be fucking running. She didn’t have an ounce of flight in her. Her mother’s mangled body came to her mind. No not an ounce of flight but plenty of fucking fight. This feeling spread through her like nothing she’d never felt before. It was dark, primal and came from somewhere deep inside her. It filled her up with a need so strong it was like her mind switched off and her body started moving on its own. She crossed the floor and knelt beside him surveying the damage she’d inflicted. His right forearm had a decent hole in it, his left shoulder didn’t look all that bad, his left knee blown and his right thigh bleeding pretty badly. He was close to the end of her bed. The knife she’d sunk into his shoulder lay discarded on the floor near him. Good, that would come in handy. She placed creepy guy’s knife on the floor next to it. Nikki grabbed his left arm and cuffed it to the bed leg then threw her leg over his chest and settled her weight there. She picked up her knife and waited.

He began to stir his body twitching with little movements. She pushed up on her knees raising her arm up and drove her blade down into the palm of his left hand with all her weight. Roach shocked awake with a scream. She pressed the Glock to his forehead “Who the fuck sent you and why?” He spat at her “Fuck you.” She wiped her face then picked up creepy guy’s knife turning it over in her hand. “You know your friend over there isn’t the only one who knows their way round a knife.” She took the blade and scored the skin on his left bicep. He wriggled and bucked trying to get her off him. Then she turned to his left arm and pushed the blade down into the bullet hole twisting it until he whimpered. “Poor baby. That hurt?” “You fucking crazy bitch. You have no idea what you're getting involved in.” he ground out through gritted teeth. She just smiled at him sickly sweet. “I don't? Then why don't you enlighten me.” He remained silent. She sliced him quick and fast across his cheek. He growled at her. She did the next cut slow and deep from one side of the skin above the round neck of his shirt to the other. His breath hissed out between his teeth. “You tell me now who sicked you and your seriously fucked up friend onto my mother and I’ll make it quick and painless. You hold out I will take you a part piece by tiny fucking piece until you beg for the quick death I would have given you. Now I’m gonna ask you again WHO THE FUCK SENT YOU?!” She pushed the muzzle further into his skull. “You think you got the stomach for that shit bitch. You think you can cut me up the way we did your mother. You know even after we cut her she still moaned like a whore while we fucked her.”

That dark ugly feeling grew in intensity. She twisted around with her gun hand and fired bullet ten into his right knee obliterating it. His agonizing scream filled her with pleasure. “Obviously you don’t know who the fuck I am. I’m a Soldier of Chaos and not just any Soldier. I’m Reaper’s daughter. This shit is in my blood so yeah I think I got the stomach to cut you till there isn’t an untouched piece of flesh left on your fucked up body.” The sound of bikes in the distance began to get louder. “Looks like the cavalry is on its way Roach. And if you don’t think I’ve got the stomach for this shit you know that they fucking do.” The bikes were close now, in the street maybe. She shifted the gun quickly to his left forearm and she fired into it, number eleven. Her body flooded with satisfaction again. “LAST CHANCE!” she resettled his muzzle on her. The sound of the front door busting in echoed through the house. “Bridges.” Footsteps sounded right behind her as she squeezed the trigger for the last time bullets twelve and thirteen emptying into the guy’s skull. Then the slide popped back. There weren’t enough bullets in the world. She threw the Glock across the room as rage filled her. An almighty scream erupted from her chest as she was dragged off the guy’s body. She struggled and kicked out at the body. “Nikki fucking calm the fuck down” Tex’s voice sounded loudly in her ear. As the adrenalin left her and the pain hit her head on she passed out in Tex’s arms.

Chapter 2

Trace took in the body of the guy Nikki had just blown away. One hand was cuffed to the leg of the bed the other nailed to the floor with Nikki’s knife. He had a bullet hole in both forearms one of which looked mangled, one in his shoulder, both knees blown out and a bullet hole in one thigh. He had a cut to his arm and cheek and deep nasty slash across his chest. He glanced at the other guy on the floor his head, what was left of it, nearly inside the closet. This was all kinds of fucked up. He was in shock. Nikki had done some shit before but this. He turned towards Tex and Nikki staring at her for about thirty seconds taking her in. Cut to her collar bone, bullet wound to her shoulder blood sliding down the front of her right thigh and a large amount of blood covering the back and sides of her left one. His anger boiled up. If those assholes weren’t already dead he’d kill them again slowly and painfully. Fuck. “She’s bleeding all over the fucking place.” Tex looked down at Nikki then and when his face came back up Trace was sure he had the exact same look in his eyes. Murderous, thunderous rage. “Give her to me.
You get some sheets we’ll rip them up and use them to stop the bleeding then we need to get her to Doc brown’s fast.” Trace took her from Tex scooping her up and moving towards the kitchen while Tex moved down the hall. Trace put Nikki on the kitchen table so he could look her over. “Fuck me” he looked up to see Tex backing away from Sheila’s room and headed straight for them his face grim. Trace knew but he asked anyway “Sheila?” “Dead. They fucked her up bad, worse than bad. No wonder Nikki did that.” No time to think about that now. “You take the cut on her collar bone and the bullet in her shoulder. I’ll take her legs.” Trace pushed her skirt up to deal with the cut on her right thigh and he nearly lost it again. Her panties were ripped and she had blood all over herself. He gritted his teeth to keep it together and focused on the cut. It was deep enough to need stitches at the very least. He covered it with a wad of material then used a length of sheet to bandage it on there. Then he moved to her left leg. He raised it at the knee so he could get to the injured area. The flesh was torn, a bullet not a knife. He treated that the same as the other cut and as soon as Tex had finished they picked her up and headed for her car.

Trace passed her back to Tex and slid into the back seat holding his arms out for Nikki and together they manoeuvred her in so she was tucked into his side with her legs across the seat. She whimpered as they took off flying down the road. "Ssshhhh baby girl. I've got you. You're gonna be ok." He had no idea what that shit in there was all about. Nikki's mum, Sheila, was a bitch and ever since Nikki's dad fucked her off she'd drowned herself in drink and cock and took the rest of her shit life out on Nikki. Trace hated the bitch she'd been a poor excuse for an old lady, a poor excuse for a mother and a poor excuse for a human being. But he doubted all of that had led to whatever the fuck that was in there. It had to be something to do with the club. But why Sheila? Made no sense. Everyone knew that bitch held no favour when it came to the club. Nikki was a different matter. They all loved her, looked out for her. They couldn't do much to change Sheila's behaviour she was beyond help but they'd done what they could to provide Nikki with a safe port in the storm. When they were young Tex's parents had lived a block away and his mum had sent Tex and him down there frequently to check on Nikki. If they saw Sheila was in one of her moods they'd sneak Nikki out of the house and down to Tex's place. Nikki was a member's daughter and that made her family regardless of who or what her mother was or wasn't. Tex's mum was all about the club and her man, being the president's old lady that was a damn good thing and Nikki was not the only kid she mothered. She'd taken Trace in when he was young after his mother had OD'd. Sheila was in a mood more often than she wasn't which meant Nikki spent a lot of time with the boys and they were close, inseparable even. They protected her as much as possible from the shit that life brought her. Clearly it hadn't been enough otherwise they wouldn't be here now. Trace flicked his eyes up to the mirror catching Tex’s gaze. The fear he felt was reflected in Tex’s face.

Tex took a deep breath and focused himself. He was having trouble concentrating with Nikki hurt in the back but if he didn't refocus he'd kill them all in a car accident. He had calls to make. He chucked his phone in the holder and fiddled with the screen till he got the right number. It rang and he prayed the bastard on the other end picked up. "Doc Brown" announced the voice through the speaker. "Doc its Tex. Got a situation we're headed your way now." "Situation?" "Nikki's hurt. Bullet to the back of her thigh and her shoulder. Bullet to the shoulder’s still in. Deep cuts to her collarbone and her other thigh. She's unconscious, pale, bleeding." "You need to take her to a fucking hospital." Tex didn't want to hear that shit. "Can't do that Doc I don't want the cops on this shit at all." Doc swore down the phone "If that bullet has done serious damage to her shoulder she's gonna need surgery and I can't do that Tex I don't have those kinda skills or facilities. I can get it out and stitch her up if it’s shallow enough but if it’s deep it could've hit an artery or damaged the joint there's nothing I can do with that." Tex caught Trace's look in the rear view mirror. "Fuck!! Fine hospital it is." Tex hung up and made his next call. "Son?" His father's gruff voice echoed through the car. "Got a situation. Sheila's place. Sheila's dead. Nikki got cut bad and shot in the leg and shoulder. She killed both gunmen. Doc said he can’t deal with it so we gotta take her to the hospital." A string of foul words came out of the speakers. "Meet you and Reaper at Sheila’s in thirty. Trace will stay with Nikki." Trace didn't acknowledge him but he didn't have to, Tex knew he wouldn't argue. "Call the cop. If they are gonna get involved at least he’ll keep it quiet. I'll get Reaper and see you there. Look after our girl." His father's request wasn’t necessary but Tex agreed anyway "Yep." He hung up and the silence in the car was deafening. "How's she looking Trace?" "Not good." Tex's gut twisted. "Hold on Ace nearly there." He put his foot flat to the floor and flew through the next few intersections before coming to a screeching halt in the hospital emergency entrance. Trace and Tex manoeuvred her out of the car. "You can handle this shit right." Trace gave him a nod then headed into emergency yelling for help. Trace would have to come up with some sort of story to tell the cops.

Tex made it back to the house in 15 minutes. His dad was standing next to his bike in the driveway and four of the club’s prospects who he was guessing drove the van parked in the street out front.  Tex glanced around looking for Nikki’s dad. “How is she son?” the concern clear on his father’s face. James King, or King to the club, was a hard ass through and through but he loved that girl as if she was his own. Tex shrugged. He wouldn’t know. He got out of there as fast as he could. There was no way in hell he could stand around waiting to find out if she lived or died or something in between. “Where’s Reaper?” His dad’s face turned really grim then “On his way. Should be here in five.” The rumble of a Harley sounded in the distance as they stood waiting. Nikki’s dad rode into the drive and switched off his bike. His face was hard and completely unreadable as he swung his leg off the bike and stepped up to them. Menace rolled off the man in waves. Everything about the guy said mess with me and you end up dead and there was no bullshit in that. If you messed with Mick ‘Reaper’ Jones you would end up dead quicker than you could blink an eye and that was why the guy was perfect for his position as the clubs man-at-arms. Tex’s phone rang and Reaper glared at him like he wanted to take Tex’s head off. He checked the screen. It was Trace “Speak.” “They’ve taken her in to surgery will let you know when I hear something.” Not exactly news. “Thanks brother. Stay with her.” He hung up and turned to Reaper. “She’s at the hospital they’re taking her into surgery. Trace is waiting there.” Reaper grunted in response. “Start talking” he stated gesturing to the house.

“Got a call from Nikki. She wasn’t on the other end when I answered but I could hear some guy talking to her. Said something about her bringing a knife to a gunfight, so we rolled out. We knew she was here. She checks on Sheila regularly bringing her food, cleaning up the place, paying the bills and leaving her cash. When we got here TV was on loud but you could hear her screaming at the guy asking who sent him. We ran in just as she pulled the trigger on the Glock we’d given her years ago to protect herself from Sheila’s boyfriends. She was sitting on the guy’s chest blew two holes in his head. They cut her deep and shot her twice. We pulled her off him realized she was bleeding and got her the fuck outta there.” Now King was glaring at him too “There are four things that I don’t like about what you just said. One, you giving that girl a gun which meant you felt she really wasn’t fucking safe in this house. Two, you letting her go into the house by herself despite knowing that it wasn’t fucking safe. Three, Nikki paying for that bitches shit and four, you and Trace not communicating any of this shit to the rest of us. You better have a damn good reason for that shit Tex.” He was about ten seconds away from getting his shit handed to him by his club’s president and man-at-arms in front of four prospects. “We gave her that gun a good fucking ten years ago. She’s an adult now and one that does not take crap from anyone. Sheila and her boyfriends didn’t pose a fucking threat to her and haven’t for years. We had no idea she was even coming here until the other week when Sheila smashed Nikki’s bike up. We told her that shit had to stop that we’d take care of it but she wouldn’t have it. So we told her next time we’d go with but she’s fucking stubborn and as you can see she ducked us and came here on her own.”
