Little did Bobby know, we all had a surprise planned for him. Since he’d been so busy with the tour, I had to find out the sex of the baby alone. I’d told him that they hadn’t been able tell, but I’d lied. Sue me. When it came time for the “panty song” as I now referred to it, I readied myself to go on stage. Bobby’s mom and Momma were out in the crowd to do their part of the surprise.

Normally during the “panty song,” Donnie would run and pick them up, stuffing them in his pants like the little horn dog he was. But not tonight. Tonight, we were changing up the show.

Donnie started the familiar cadence on the drums but stopped before the guys were to join in. “Ladies! This song is for my man Acey! You know what to do,” he crooned to them, blowing them kisses. Of course they went absolutely insane. It was still weird to me that Bobby went by Acey in the band, but I’d eventually grown used to it.

Bobby looked over at Donnie like he’d lost his mind, unsure of where to go next. But when Donnie sat back down and began beating the drums, they all fell into their parts. Midway during the song, Donnie stood and pointed both drumsticks to the crowd, which was the cue.

And like always, I was mesmerized when the panties began showering down on the stage as the crowd tossed them lovingly to the boys. This time though, they were panties that had been distributed to the crowd with a message to Bobby.

When Donnie didn’t get up to collect the panties like he normally did, Bobby looked over at him, confused. This was my cue. I tried not to waddle as I went out on the stage in front of thousands of people. Scooping up the first pair, I walked over to Bobby and tucked them inside the top of his jeans. He stopped the guitar and pulled them from his pants to look at them. The panties were blue and the words “It’s a boy” were printed on the butt.

It took him a second to register, but he quickly took off his guitar and handed it to the sound guy who was waiting for it. Rushing to me, he pulled me in for a chaste kiss.

Breaking the kiss, I looked into his eyes and told him, “Babe, I want to name him Sutton.”

His eyes misted over for a minute but he recovered and grinned at me. “It’s perfect. Sutton. Dad would love it.”

And he kissed me harder this time, like we were the only two people on the earth.
