The Barrier: The Teorran of Time: Teen Fantasy Action Adventure Novel (31 page)

"This is going to take some time." Shaz said.

"I'll make a sweep of the area and be back." Turkill said.

"I'm not looking forward to this." he said quietly to Serin.

"I know, but I'm here." She said.

Shaz took in a deep breath. He concentrated all his efforts on the feeling his magic and the shadow magic gave him. His new understanding of how to use shadow magic gave him the command of it. He was however glad that Serin could heal his body from the payment the shadow magic required. Serin drew from the elements of water and air. A bright white light grew until it was big enough to surround Shaz and she let it drift toward him. Shaz felt the added protection in his mind and chest and sent his energy into his hands.

He gripped the edges of the torn fabric of time and pulled. His breathing increased as the pressure pulled against him. He dug his feet into the ground. He felt Ladtwig pushing against one leg. A moment later Turkill gripped his other leg. Shaz felt the warmth come from his bosom from the love of his friends. The heat of the power stifled the pain the shadow was trying to inflict. He focused his thoughts on the fabric and pulled with all his might. The wall of magic inched closer but was resisting.

Serin felt the strength fade from Shaz's muscles. She pulled more energy from the elements and released another cast of magic. Shaz energized by the new surge of power,
You can use the elements too
, the thought came into his mind. He extended his mind into the forest around him and pulled from its energy. The rift responded quickly and moved together.

A vision flashed across his mind as the energy around him flooded his senses. With the last few inches near, Shaz struggled to keep his thought on the rift and not the vision. It disturbed him as he watched a young boy incinerate a flight of gryphton's. He thought back to Azrak’s story in the forest. Something nudged at his understanding but he didn’t know why.

"Shaz concentrate, your almost there." Serin said.

Shaz refocused and imagined the fabric binding itself together. A gush of wind escaped the last few inches before it locked shut. Turkill and Ladtwig tumbled as Shaz fell to the ground breathing heavily. Serin lowered her arms and rested on a large rock.

"You did it." Serin said.

Shaz looked up and with sweat dripping down his face said, "No, we did it."

“So now to the Mountains of Bair?” Serin asked.

Shaz nodded and picked up his pack.

“We’re coming too.” Turkill said.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Shaz said.

I hope you enjoyed The Barrier: The Teorran of Time. I have to tell you, I really love the characters of Shaz and Serin. Azrak found a deep place in my heart too. Many readers have asked “What will happen next for Shaz, will he find the sheath.” And “Did Queen Ambrosia really die?” “What about Yavo?”

Well, stay tuned because the journey of publishing The Teorran of Time isn’t quite over. The Teorran of Time will soon have ‘Tangent Stories’ that will feed the insatiable need to find out what happens. How does Ambrosia become the queen of the most powerful city in Edenocht? What does happen to Yavo? And let’s not forget the Minca!

When I wrote The Barrier, I got so many letters from fans thanking me for the book. Some have opinions about what they think should’ve happened, while others need to know what comes next. I love the feedback!

Candidly, you are the reason that I will explore Shaz and Serin’s future. So, tell me what you liked, what you loved, even what you hated. I’d love to hear from you. You can write me at

Finally, I need to ask a favor. If you’re so inclined I’d love a review. Love it, hate it- I’d just enjoy your feedback.

As you may have gleaned from my book, reviews can be tough to come by these days. You, the reader have the power to make or break a book.

Thank you so much for reading The Barrier, and for spending time with me.
