“Good.”

“Well, I’m starting nursing school in January.”

I nodded.

“It will help a ton with Axle.”

“Axle?”

“Yeah, his name is Axle.”

“Axle Albertson, now that’s a name,” I laughed.

“I didn’t want to call him Junior.”

“You named him after that fucker that doesn’t give a shit about you or him?” Elle looked out the window. “Elle, you’re kidding me right?” I asked. She didn’t respond and I knew it was true. “Has he even seen him?” She didn’t answer and just kept looking out the window.

“Whenever you get tired of helping us just let me know. I never wanted this, Lil Samson. Axle should be yours. I know that, and I know I fucked up royally. I know that. I can’t fix this. I’ve tried, but you don’t want me anymore and I can’t blame you; but I still love you, every single inch of you, and I will continue to try my very best to get you back.”

“Like today?”

“What?”

“Your car.”

She stared at me for a minute and then turned around to check on the baby.

I knew there was nothing wrong with Elle’s car. This was her and my mom’s doing. The whole damsel in distress act was getting tiresome. Mom had me always dropping shit off over there whenever I went to Port Angeles. Cookies, pies, clothes, blankets, and whatever else she could think of. I knew Mom didn’t have to get that shit to Elle. She just did it so I could see her and she could see me. Every time I went to Elle’s, she would always be all dolled up like some pin-up whore. Mom asked me one time how Elle looked and I said, “Like a whore.” The next few times that I saw Elle, she looked like her old self.

We were almost home and I knew I couldn’t spend the rest of the day feeling like this with Elle.

“You know I don’t mind helping you and the…Axle. I will help you no matter what. Axle didn’t ask to be here, and he didn’t ask for this fucked up situation he’s been dragged into. It’s not the kid’s fault, and every child should have a decent father. I will continue to pay whatever you need whenever you need it.”

“Thank you. You’ve done so much for us and I don’t know how I can ever repay you.”

“You don’t owe me anything.”

“I owe you everything.”

We pulled up at the house and a handful of people helped us get everything out of the truck. I had the cake and Elle had Axle. We walked next door to Mom’s and the little house was full of people in white jackets and black pants. There were over a dozen silver trays full of uncooked food which they were prepping in the kitchen. We walked through and one of the white jacket people took the cake from me. We found everyone in the living room. Women were at Elle within seconds of seeing the car seat. I passed all the cackling women and headed for the backyard.

Mom had everyone moving shit around all over the place. Brad, Patty’s boyfriend, fit right in with the rest of the family. He was pale white, but Mom had him working and busting like the rest of them. I was handed a round table to unfold and place under the tent. I worked like a dog for the next two hours. It was so hot out there that my balls were sweating.

“Okay, guys. Everyone go shower and get dressed. See you all back here in an hour,” Mom yelled over all the noise.

We all departed from the battlefield my mom called her backyard. I hoped in the shower and thought about what I was going to wear. I wanted to wear a t-shirt and shorts, but I knew Mom would not approve. Then I thought about it. Patty would pass out if I wore one of those rhinestone outfits she got me. I laughed as I stepped out the shower, imagining Patty’s face when she saw me. There was someone standing there in the bathroom. I looked her straight in the eyes. Elle handed me a towel and I took it and wrapped it around my waist.

“Don’t hide him because of me,” she said.

I turned from her and stood in front of the sink. She watched me shave and put on deodorant. I was brushing my teeth when she pressed up against me.

“What the fuck are you doing?” I growled at her.

“Nothing you don’t want me to do,” she teased.

“Stop it,” I snapped.

“Why? You’re not fucking anybody. All you do is work and come home; day in and day out. Come home to me. I’ll be here waiting for you every day. I’ll cook and clean every single day for you,” she said with her breasts on my back. She kissed and licked my bare back; loosening the towel from my waist. It dropped to the floor and she reached around to grip the beast. I turned around then and pushed my body up against Elle’s. Her breathing was rapid and her mouth was open.

“Are you horny? You need me to help you rub one out?” I asked. She didn’t say anything. She just breathed hard and watched me. “I could always get you off. You want to cum for me? Is that it?” I asked her. I slid a hand down under her dress and went straight for her puss. She was steaming hot down there; like a fire had just been lit. I played with her clit with my middle finger and her head fell back on the wall. She made throaty whimpers. “Where’s your baby?” I asked at her ear.

“Next door,” she rushed out in a breath.

“Are you going to cum for me?” I asked.

“As much as you want.”

“Oh, really?”

Elle whimpered again and I went a little deeper with my middle finger; she started making a guttural noise.

“Damn, you’re almost there.”

She nodded quickly, squeezing her eyes shut and trying to hold it as long as she could.

“It feels so good. You always make me feel so good,” she whimpered.

“When you cum, I want you to be so loud that everyone can hear you next door. I want everyone over there to know I made you cum.”

Elle whimpered my name and dropped her head on my shoulder.

“No, I want to watch you cum. Let me see your face.”

“No,” she said, her head down on my shoulder. I used my free hand and yanked her head back to the wall.

“Oh my God, I’m about to cum.”

“Are you going to be loud?”

“Yes.”

“How loud?” I asked, speeding up the tempo of the finger going in and out of her.

“Loud enough.”

“Enough for what?”

Elle placed both of her hands in my hair then. She tugged hard as she climaxed in my hands.

“Scream!” I growled at her, and I went faster and faster in and out of her. Elle screamed and tugged hard at my hair. When she finally settled down, I pulled my finger out of her. Her eyes were squeezed shut.

“Touch my dick and see how hard I am.”

She opened her eyes and gripped my dick. Elle looked confused and looked down at him. The beast was still sleeping. He never woke during Elle’s show.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“He doesn’t want you anymore. He didn’t move a muscle with you this time and he never will. This was the last time I will ever touch you. Now get the fuck out of here and go take care of your baby,” I told her in a cold whisper.

Elle’s eyes watered and she ran out of the bathroom crying. I couldn’t believe she would show up here thinking I wanted her and that tainted pussy. She let him cum inside of her. I would never get that image out of my head. And this manipulation between her and my mother would stop today. I turned back to the sink and scrubbed my hands clean of Elle and her pussy.

I wore one of Patty’s pickings – a white shirt and dark blue jeans. I also wore leather sandals hoping Mom wouldn’t insist on me changing shoes. When I got back to Mom’s house, everyone was staring at me and Elle was nowhere in sight. Sheen and Kanoke walked over to me; both of them holding beers.

“So what happened over there?” Kanoke asked.

“Why? What did she say?”

“She ran over here screaming and crying that you were a monster,” Sheen told me. I looked around at everyone and most of them were still staring at me.

“I didn’t hurt her,” I spit out.

“We know that, but she made it seem like you did. A couple of elders took her into the house to check her just to make sure,” Sheen said.

“Are you fucking kidding me? They think I raped her?”

“She wouldn’t say anything but that you were a monster. No one knew what that really meant,” Kanoke spoke then.

The elders came out, and Elle was behind them holding Axle. I started to go over there and cuss Elle the fuck out, but Sheen grabbed my arm and tugged me back hard.

“Don’t do this man. She’s already got all of them on her side. You getting mad will just make it worse,” Sheen warned.

“I’m going home. I’m not dealing with this shit.”

I started back across the lawn when one of the elder women called out to me. “Lil Samson…if you would?”

I turned around and faced the small group of elders.

“There were some concerns, but now the threat has been explained. The young lady was merely speaking of a broken heart. There has been no attack to her physically whatsoever. As you all know, this young man has stepped in and assisted this young woman with everything she needed for her and her infant son. Many have opinions about why he does what he does, but that is neither mine, nor our, business. Lil Samson has been a true pillar to this community. He’s one of the few who actually makes a living doing our culture’s many talents. This man has been donating money to all of the community’s causes since he was a young one. We have to respect, and we have to remember, what he does for us daily. He is a good man and he has been scrutinized his whole entire life; but he still stays when many of us would have left. Now this should have been said years ago, and I know I’m extremely late, but from this day forth, I want to hear nothing but sweet words coming out everyone’s mouth about this man. He’s a son to us all and we damn well should treat him as such.”

The elder woman walked over to me and she reached up for me to hug her. I did as she requested, and she placed her small hands on the sides of my face.

“I love you dearly, Lil Samson; and thank you for everything you do for us.”

Tears welled up in my eyes and I turned away from her, walking back toward my house.

“Give him a minute, young brothers,” she called out to whoever was trying to follow me. When I walked through the door, I slammed and locked it behind me. I hated to cry; especially in front of people. I went into my bedroom and sat on the bed. I thought about all the kind words the elder had spoken about me, but something really did stick in my head. Why was I still here? I don’t have to be here. Patty lived in Port Angeles. I didn’t have or want Elle anymore. Mom had Dad, and I had no one. I sat in the dark and thought about my life and my purpose for a long time before there was a knock at the door. Mom stood there with a concerned look.

“She’s about ten minutes away.”

“Alright,” I said. She just stood there in the doorway waiting for me. I turned and got Patty’s gift off the coffee table and walked out the door. Mom and I walked side by side to her backyard. No one said a word, and the DJ was getting the music together. Kanoke and Loon came and stood by me.

“Hey, man,” Loon said.

“Hey.”

“Shit day?”

“Yep.”

I noticed Sheen was over by his very pregnant wife. She looked just as miserable as he did. Sheen was staring at a girl across the yard. There were three girls sitting at one of the round tables. I knew one of the girls was local, but the other two I wasn’t so sure about. He seemed to be staring at the girl in the middle.

“Who’s the girl Sheen’s bush stalking?” I asked. Sheen’s expression did look like a creeper in the bushes.

“Oh that’s Ayashe,” Loon said.

“Ayashe? Why does that name sound familiar?”

“Ponder was her grandfather,” Loon told me. I remembered him. Ponder was one of the best fisherman on the reservation. He had a small restaurant over by the beach until the place caught on fire with him and his wife in it. They lived over the restaurant in a three-bedroom apartment. It happened almost twelve years ago. There was a grease fire and they were sound asleep. I remember Ayashe was supposed to be there, but she snuck out that night. Everyone was looking for her for hours.

“Remember that night of the restaurant fire? Remember she was out with Sheen.” Everything hit me then. Ayashe was the girl Sheen could never get over. He’s been chasing her for years now, and his wife knew it. I didn’t know Ayashe well; her parents didn’t stay on the Res. They moved when she was child, but she used to come and visit her grandparents a lot until the fire.

Someone started shushing and hushing everyone. The lights went out and everything was dark. The lights from inside the house were the only thing we could see. Everyone had parked at the community center and walked over to the house. Mom wanted it to be a huge surprise. We could hear a car pull up and a door shut. Patty was singing a song on her way to the door. She was about eight octaves higher than she should have been and that made me laugh. Someone shushed me and I held my breath. A minute or two passed, and then the back door opened and all the lights in the backyard came on. Patty stood there with wide eyes when everyone yelled, “Surprise!”

Patty was shocked and started crying immediately. I walked up to her and she clung to me; shaking and blubbering.
