As I started to lose my battle with pancreatic cancer, my body becoming frail and my mind slipping, I could feel that the time was near for me to leave this world and go to the next. I had never told anybody besides Martin about what happened to me in the past, though I used to tell my children fairy tales about this magical land where anything could happen—and they especially got a kick thinking about their Uncle Martin as a king. If only they knew.

My daughter, Anna, knelt at the bed and held my hand as she cried uncontrollably. She reminded me of Belle, and I was glad my wife let us choose her name. We might not have worked out, but I’d love her for eternity for giving me the three best children I could ever have hoped for.

I could feel my body failing me as my breath grew shallow and my eyes started to feel heavy. This was the time, and as I tried to look around the room, I knew they could tell as well.

“I love you,” I heard, as a small smile came upon my face.

“I love you,” I mouthed, as my body was so weak I couldn’t speak any longer.

With my loved ones around me, I closed my eyes and told myself that I was ready. My consciousness slipped slowly away, and I felt Anna’s hand leaving me as my body failed and I was no longer there.

I soon woke back up and shielded my eyes from a bright white light. I looked around, seeing nothing in every distance, before I looked down at my body and was in shock.

My liver-spotted hands were young again, like they were when I was a teenager. I felt my head and ran my fingers through the brown wavy hair that had left me decades ago.

As I stood there, marveling at myself, I felt something—a presence—behind me. I turned around slowly, not knowing who or what it was, then my heart stopped and my stomach dropped.

“I was wondering when you were going to show up,” she said, looking at me with a smile on her face.
