I’m listening.”

Once Jade was finished asking her share of questions
she looked over at Commander Calchera and said, “I believe I found
my purpose.”

The Commander responded with a curious look, “What
would that be?”

The ability to show people how
to choose their own destiny.”

Well if that is the case, you
are certainly on the right path,” smiled the Commander.

Unfortunately, for Sgt. Belville,
his conversation with Reece was not as exciting. He learned about
the visual layout of
The
Ark
and Reece’s minor contacts with the
major players of Tureis.

Once the debriefings were completed, both Jade and
Reece were released to their quarters with an escort. Commander
Calchera rushed back to the transportation chamber in hopes to
communicate with Spencer. Upon his arrival, he was briefed on the
instability of Spencer’s consciousness and the host body’s vital
signs.

I’m sorry to report sir, but we
will be losing him soon. It is as if his consciousness isn’t
compatible with Izri’s host body,” said the senior
technician.

Can we communicate?” asked the
Commander.

Yes, but it will have to be
quick.”

Then let’s do it.”

A verbal link was connected wirelessly through a
receiver, which had been placed in the brain of the body Spencer
was occupying. Once the link was stable a viable transmission
started to send and receive simple data packets to include a mere,
“Can you hear me?” from Commander Calchera. Within seconds a
computerized voice responded, “Yes, can you please tell me what is
going on?”

Cautiously the Commander
responded, “Yes, but first we have to validate who you are, I’m
sure you understand. Now please state your first and last name and
the security ID number that was assigned to you by this
institution.”

My name is Spencer Cade, and my security code
is sierra, roger, tango, seven, five, seven.”

Commander Calchera now showed a
little bit more trust and responded with a simple, “That’s correct.
Can you tell me what has happened to you and why you are
occupying
Izri’s host body?”

Spencer explained his mission
assignment with Oliver and how they had arrived in Australia. He
went on and informed of the large hole they found during their
travels to Darwin, and the next thing he knew he was in some type
of mental prison.”

I have no idea how I arrived
there, nor do I know where I was. Then I started reliving the
memories of my life, specifically the day I died,” explained
Spencer.

Like his daughter, Spencer gave a
considerable amount of details from when he vanished to his present
situation. the
Commander
really did not have to ask many questions. As
Spencer continued his tale, he skipped back a bit and explained
what Telmar had told him when he was inside Prime 2’s mainframe,
“He said ‘Remember the primes’ and at that point in time I had no
idea what he was referencing.” Spencer continued to explain how he
had seen prime numbers floating around in his head and started to
repeat the ones which allowed him to escape, “
0601 1117…” Spencer failed to finish the sequence of
numbers when he yelled, “It hurts! My head it feels as if someone
is inserting needles into my brain.” At that moment, the senior
technician noticed a spike in the energy flow of the host
body.

Sir, I believe we need to wrap this up,
something is happening,” said the senior technician.

Spencer we’re detecting some
unexplained energy readings, which I’m sure is connected to the
pain you are experiencing. Are you noticing anything else?” asked
Commander Calchera.

After Spencer was able to get the
pain to a point where he could tolerate it he said, “My
surroundings are starting to appear brighter, but before we go on,
I must ask, how is Jade?”

The Commander informed Spencer
she was healthy and doing well. This brought a great deal of
comfort to Spencer, to the point where everyone in the
transportation chamber noticed the host’s body starting to tear up.
Commander Calchera was on the brink of calling for Jade, but he
knew there was no time, they were losing Spencer. As soon as he
finished his thought the senior technician yelled, “We need to
redirect this energy somehow and soon. I’m seeing serious power
spikes.”

What do you recommend we do?” said one of the
other technicians.

I don’t know, I’m working on
it.”

Spencer spoke, “Something is
happening, I can feel it. It’s as if my consciousness is growing,
and I’m running out of storage space inside this host’s
brain.”

That’s it,” called out a nearby
technician, “We need to redirect Spencer to one of our data storage
banks.”

How much data storage are we
talking about?” asked the Commander.

Unfortunately we don’t know. We
never had to store someone’s consciousness internally before. Our
storage capacity is nothing like the storage capacity they use on
Tureis,” said the senior technician.

What if we don’t have enough
space?” he asked.

I’m sorry, Sir, we can’t answer
these questions and from the looks of these readings, I don’t think
we really have much control on what will be happening in the next
minute or so.”

Divert all available storage
space within this facility for Spencer’s consciousness,” he
ordered.

On it, Sir.”

Within a few seconds of the order
Spencer said, “It was a pleasure talking to you Commander Calchera,
now I must go. I have found my purpose; I must share with the world
my knowledge of our fate on this planet. But before I go I should
also tell you about Se...”

Tell us what, Spencer? We can no
longer hear you,” yelled Commander Calchera.

Spencer did not realize at that
moment his words about Serafina and the Prime Code were not being
heard. Once Spencer finished speaking, there was an enormous power
surge within the pod, and a millisecond later, the interior of the
pod turned dark red. The host body had exploded. Bolts of energy
immediately followed, they directed themselves through the conduits
within the chamber and soon vanished into the ceiling, leaving the
entire facility in darkness.

Oliver and crew were getting
closer to the shielding encompassing the quarantine zone. All three
were simply letting their lives be guided by a force they knew
little about. They were certainly impressed by the power of this
unfamiliar device, but without knowing its mechanics they had to
rely on faith. There were still large amounts of firepower pouring
into both the dump truck and the secondary ellipse, which was still
traveling at a safe distance from its twin. Melissa had finally
calmed down a bit and started to realized the shield encompassing
the dump truck and the second ellipse, on their six, must be polar
opposites.

How else would they be
maintaining an exact distance from one another? It’s not as if
either was using conventional propulsion,” thought Melissa as she
reached in her left pocket and pulled out a small compass. She saw
the arrow spinning voraciously, confirming her hypothesis. The
force field and its nearby twin were both emitting strong magnetic
fields. This discovery did not give her comfort, but it was an
attempt to keep her mind occupied.

There’s our exit point. Should I
drive through the gate or aim for the energy wall surrounding the
complex?” asked Karl.

Go through the gate, if we’re
able to leave enough rubble between us and them, there’s a better
chance the chase vehicles will have to halt in order to clear a
path. I don’t think they’re willing to shut down the energy shield
to break quarantine, but what do I know?” said Oliver.

Melissa replied, “From what we
just learned it doesn’t look like there’s any reason to maintain
the quarantine.”

I’m sure they’re going to do
more research before they lift it,” as Oliver pointed
out.

Not giving a chance for Melissa
to rebut, Karl yelled, “Here we go.”

As the dump truck and its massive
shielding slammed into a number of concrete barriers, debris flew
everywhere, causing secondary damage to nearby buildings and
bunkers. It was as easy as slicing warm butter with a knife.
Nothing that was placed in front of them was able to stop the
runaway dump truck. Little did they know the energy shield now
encompassed the entry and exit points to the fort and they were
seconds away from striking it. As soon as their shielding made
contact with the energy shield, a deafening blast followed by a
galactic white flash filled the sky. The shockwave from the sound
stirred up a large sand storm limiting everyone’s visibility. Karl
quickly took inventory of his surroundings and noticed they were
still moving, the windshield to the dump truck was fractured, and
the ride turned into a series of bumps and jolts. They had lost
their shielding.

The remaining forces, which were
trying to stop this unprecedented escape, turned over to their
infrared sites and were able to draw a target on the rear of the
escaping dump truck. “Fire,” yelled one of the soldiers who
expelled a rocket-propelled grenade that was now on an intercept
course with the dump truck and its occupants. Within seconds of the
shot a large explosion occurred, and the soldier’s unit who fired
the shot said, “Target destroyed.” The sandstorm was still too
strong to pick up visual confirmation, but the quarantine command
post confirmed they were no longer tracking the escaped vehicle via
satellite. They decided not to take any chances and deployed a
mobile scout unit to confirm the wreckage. The sand storm increased
in size and now covered a ten-mile radius from ground
zero.

As their hearing started to come back Melissa asked,
“What was that?”

I believe it was just another projectile they
shot at us,” replied Oliver.

Why was this one so much louder than the
other ones?

I don’t know, either way I’m not
taking my foot off this pedal.”

I have a theory,” said Oliver.
“We must have lost our shielding when we came into contact with the
energy shield, hence the minor damage to the dump truck. The
shielding must have also been muffling the sounds of the ordinance.
Luckily for us there’s the second ellipse on our six; I believe
that’s what took the recent blast from that last shot.”

How can you be so sure?” asked
Melissa.

Again, Occam’s razor,” said
Oliver.

Yes, we know about Occam’s razor
and that was certainly a poor use of the term. Can you just give us
the simplest answers to our questions, please?” replied
Karl.

I thought the answer was obvious, we’re still
alive aren’t we?”

Karl noticed through the rear
view mirror, the second ellipse was gaining considerable ground on
them as it unloaded all the metallic objects it had
collected.

Karl called out, “Prepare for
impact.” Before either Oliver or Melissa could respond, the second
ellipse now encompassed the dump truck, and once again provided the
necessary shielding needed to continue their escape.

Oliver simply responded, “That was convenient.”

Melissa referred back to her
compass and noticed the arrow was now pointing in the direction
they were heading in, even though they were not going true north.
Melissa surmised there must be some type of magnetic force pulling
them towards this unknown location.

Visibility improved as they
approached the outskirts of the dust storm. This allowed Karl to
increase their speed. Once they reached their top cruising speed of
50 mph Karl yelled, “Ditches!” as he pointed out what appeared to
be large crevices in the roadway, randomly scattered all over the
place. There are too many for me to drive around.”

They must have blown those
earlier when they realized they were unable to stop us back at the
quarantine zone. Any ideas?” asked Oliver.

Yeah, keep driving,” replied
Melissa.

I’m up for that,” said Karl.

To their amazement, nothing
happened when the dump truck hit the first ditch. They did not slow
down, crash, or even feel a bump. It was as if the ditches never
existed. Oliver looked in the side view mirror to make sure they
were still on the ground, and sure enough, they were. And once
again he was comforted, knowing the enemy’s attempt in stopping
them had failed.

After they were clear of the road
obstacles Melissa asked, “Do either of you know where we’re going,
or are we going to continue to drive until we run out of fuel?”
Both Oliver and Karl sat there in silence for the next twenty-five
minutes, while Melissa patiently waited for a response knowing she
was not going to receive one.

Soon all three noticed the large hole they came upon
earlier and realized they were headed right for it.

You might want to drive around
that Karl. I’m pretty sure it’s a little deeper than those ditches
we had gone through earlier,” said Melissa.
