The Power of a Praying Wife Devotional (41 page)

, I pray You would protect my husband from any accidents or injuries. Keep him safe wherever he goes. Where he has already been injured, I pray You would heal him. Take away his pain and discomfort. Lead him to the right doctors, and help them to make the correct diagnosis and prescribe the proper treatment. Give wisdom to all the doctors and therapists he sees so that they can help him to recover speedily.

Teach him whatever he must know in order to prevent this from happening in the future. Show him what he needs to
stop doing
in order to avoid further injury. Reveal whatever he should
start doing
that would strengthen him to avoid future injuries. Show me how I can help him. Give me fresh insight and Holy Spirit-led knowledge as to what to do for him.

I pray that his attitude will be right before You so that he will not be angry at his condition, or at You, or at me, or at anyone else. Help him to see that an attitude of praise and worship toward You at all times is far more healing than a negative or bitter attitude, which only further affects his body in a bad way. May he be comforted by Your presence and find restoration in You.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

When We Need God’s Word to Come Alive in Us

The word of God is living and powerful,
and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of
soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

VERY TIME WE READ
the Bible we see new things we didn’t see before. Even a Scripture we have read a hundred times can take us to a new understanding and revelation of God on the one-hundred-first time we read it. That is one of the reasons the Word of God is so profound. It is living. It is Holy Spirit breathed. And every time we read it, it is etched deeper in our mind and becomes more pronounced and alive in our heart. The more we read, the more we believe. A life without the Word of God in our mind and heart is empty and powerless.

Both you and your husband need all the life and power God has for you, especially with regard to your marriage. That’s why you must pray to have God’s Word etched in your heart in such a way that it increases your faith in Him and His truth. Pray that both of you will be drawn to read God’s Word and retain it, and to understand it in ever-deepening ways. Pray it will come alive in your hearts.

If your husband doesn’t know the Lord, speak God’s Word over him in prayer, and pray that it will penetrate his heart in such a way that his eyes will be open to see the truth. If he knows the Lord but is resistant to reading the Bible, pray for him to feel his emptiness without it. Pray that he will be drawn to it and find the fullness of the Lord in it. Pray that God’s Word will be implanted in his heart and grow into a big faith that is living and powerful.

My Prayer to God

, I thank You that Your Word is living and powerful. I pray my husband and I will deepen our desire for more of Your Word to be resident in our hearts and minds. Open our eyes to see Your truth. Help us to retain it so that it becomes part of our memory and our thoughts. Imprint it in our hearts so that it always reminds us of how we should live. Where either of us is resistant to reading Your Word, take away our rebelliousness. Teach us to long for more of Your living truth and more of You in our lives. Increase our faith every time we read or speak Your Word, as You have promised to do.

I pray we will learn to believe Your Word so firmly that we cannot be shaken by influences around us that voice thoughts contrary to what is Your truth. Your Word is living and powerful enough to expose the thoughts and plans of our hearts, so every time we read it, reveal any wrong thinking in us. When my husband will not read it himself, I pray he will be open to my reading it to him or will allow me to speak it over him in prayer. Help us to love You with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). And by doing so, I pray You will impart to us greater understanding of Your Word than we have ever had before.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

When I Want to Be Transformed

We all, with unveiled face, beholding
as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,
are being transformed into the same image
from glory to glory,
just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

E ALL NEED
to be changed. There is no doubt about that. This is because we all need to become more like the Lord. But the only way we can become more like Him is to spend time with Him and look to Him for everything. We spend time with Him when we pray, when we worship and praise Him, when we look into His Word in order to know Him better, and when we hear Him speaking to our hearts about Himself. The more we look to Him, the more we begin to reflect His character, and the more we are transformed into His image. We always reflect what we behold. As we continue to behold Him, we go from glory to glory by the power of the Holy Spirit.

You already recognize when you need transformation in your life, but there are times when you are more acutely aware of it than others. If you are depleted, exhausted, sick, messed up in your mind or emotions, or plagued with faulty thinking, or if something bad happens and you don’t react well, you know you need a fresh infusion of the restorative power of the Holy Spirit. It is God’s will that you find His transformation, but He wants you to pray for it.

Ask God often for the transformation He has for you. Ask Him to help you spend more time with Him so you can get to know Him better. Pray that He will reveal Himself more and more to you as you follow Him. When you desire to be renewed and changed into all God made you to be, seek Him for it and He will bless you with it. Ask Him to enable you to go from glory to glory by beholding
His
glory and being transformed into His image.
