“I had to leave suddenly, sorry Sasha” Finn replies looking uncomfortable and not really sorry. Sigh, well I guess I should save his ass since he has saved mine twice today

“Hi! I'm Alex” I say cheerily to Sasha and stick my hand out to shake. Its like she suddenly noticed I was there and the claws came out. She looks at me like my hand has shit on it and leaves me hanging. Bitch.

“Yes, the American. I've heard.” Sasha sneers. So, that's how its going to be huh? With Presley being the queen of bitches and can make someone feel like an ant beneath her shoe with one look, I know I can deal with this chick but this isn't my turf so maybe I should play it nice?

Turning to Finn while running her skanky hand up and down his arm she whispers in his ear, which makes me smart enough to tune out so I don't have to want to bitch slap her anymore than I already do. Whatever she says makes Finn turn to her, grab her hand that is stroking his arm and fling it away.

“Sasha, I am here with Alex. You're being very rude to my guest and you need to leave” Finn says sternly as a cold look crosses over his face. Whoa, he isn't messing around. With that, Sasha turns tail and stomps away like someone just stole her most profitable street corner.

“Well that was interesting. Ex-bed warmer perhaps?” I blurt out without even filtering that. Shit!

“Bed warmer?” Finn quirks an eyebrow in question. Shit. How do I even explain that. My face is red and I am trying to search the ceiling for the answer or in hopes the lightning will strike me down. No such luck

“Alex” Finn growls my name and pulling my chin to look at him “I've had many females throughout my years, I will tell you that, but I haven't spent time with any of them outside of the bedroom like I have with you. I never bring them to my room and rarely see them more than once. So when you say “bedwarmer” you are exactly correct with that term. They are nothing but that to me.” Finn says directly. Well he is a very much to the point kind of guy.

Before I can respond a waitress finally comes over to take out order and she happens to be an adorable pixie. I want to just put her in my pocket, she is so cute!! She is about 2 feet tall with bright pink hair and luminous wings that flutter quicker than a humming bird. I can't help but to stare at her. She is so pretty except when she speaks and you can see the row of pointy teeth. Yikes! You could lose a finger to one of them. Finn orders for us both after a quick look at me to see if I am going to object, which I'm not cause I haven't a clue what the menu says.

In hopes to get off the bed warmer subject and cause I really want to know more about Egypt

“So Finn, do you have a Cir -whatever you call it, pet-dog-cow thing too? Is that how you know so much about them?”

“Cir Sith, it is the Gaelic term for them. No, I don't have one. I know about them because growing up we are taught about all creatures of our world. I am surprised you didn't know what she was. When you bought her didn't the breeder tell you anything? They are very expensive to purchase and quite rare.”

“Well no...... Egypt showed up on my doorstep one day. She was tiny when I got her and I just knew I had to keep her. We have always had this bond that I could never understand but now it makes sense, I guess. Its so odd though because Jace and Xander have Percy and Anja has Phoenix and they are all the same age” I'm perplexed on this whole Cir Sith thing.

“I can assure you that Egypt, Percy and Phoenix are all from the same litter, otherwise they would not get along. Did the others show up at their doors as well?” He asks in confusion

“No, I guess not. Jace and Xander got Percy when he was little as well. Their parents gave him to them as a gift and Anja's parents sent Phoenix to some special training and gave her to her just before we came here.”

“Well anyway” waving my hand in the air as if that is going to get rid of my confusion “what do you do around here besides hang out in your fancy castle and find bed warmers?” I tease Finn but I am quite a bit more jealous of said “bedwarmers” than I should be.

“How about this weekend I take you to my apartment in the city and show you” Finn says with excitement in his eyes. What could be possibly do in the city that would be so exciting?

“Um, are you going to give me anymore clues than that?”

“No” he replies simply with a smirk. Then our food and drinks show up and all conversation is lost as I shove as much food as I can in my face while Finn looks at me like I am an adorable puppy. How is stuffing my face adorable?

“So what would you like to do after we are done eating?” Finn asks while I continue to shovel food in my face.

“Mmmm” Is my reply which causes Finn to grin brightly.

“Humm I guess that means I decide since you can't seem to stop eating longer enough to answer”

“Fine, if you make me stop eating this glorious food then I am going to ask questions which I have noticed you have not fully given me answers to. That is what I would like to do for the remainder of the evening” I reply smugly. I know his game now, he is avoiding some things and since I've basically been trained to never ask questions by my family I haven't pushed but I'm sick of living in the dark. So tonight, I am going to get answers out of him, one way or another.

Finn quirks an eyebrow in challenge “alright then, we should order some drinks then since you plan to interrogate me”

“Sounds great, I haven't had a proper interrogation in a long time” I respond back more confidently then I actually feel. As we finish the last of our meal Finn signals for the pixie to come back over and orders something in a language that I don't understand. A few minutes later she is setting down two mugs of what looks to be beer and two shot glasses with whiskey. Oh boy, its going to be one of those nights.

Chapter 12

“Alright Finn, before we begin with this interrogation, is there anything off limits?” I challenge with a quirk of an eyebrow.

“Hmmmm, I don't believe so. Just know I'm not going to be the only one interrogated here” Finn replies with a sexy smirk. Great, now I have to be careful with what I ask him cause he will ask me the same stuff back.

“Alright, fine. BUT your question has to be fair. There are some things my family would not allow me to answer” I warn sternly.

“Agreed. Would you like me to go first or do you have one already?” Finn says with a wicked grin. I have about a billion questions in my head but haven't narrowed one down yet. I incline my head to indicate he can go first. Hopefully its nothing too embarrassing.

Finn smiles again at my deference for him to go first and rubs his hands together like he is plotting to take over the world “how many men have you slept with?”

What the heck kind of question is that? Here I thought he would go after family secrets or something. I can feel the heat rising in my face as I look away from him. Do I lie or be honest?

“Just Zack” I mumble quickly as I stare at the table. Kill me now. Jesus, why did he have to ask that? No way am I asking him the same. There are just some things better off not knowing and that is one of them, plus he probably has no idea what his number is. I will never understand why people in relationships ask that question. Nothing good ever comes from it. I look up to see Finn with dark eyes and a twisted smile/frown on his face.

“What? I know its not a lot but I'm young still!” I say defensively. What a dick. Why is it so bad to not be a slut? Yeah so I'm not experienced like most Nephilim but at least I don't spread my legs for anyone who walks by.

A chagrined look crosses Finn's face “I'm sorry Alex. I didn't intend to make you feel bad. I'm just sorry that Zack was the one to give you your first and only experience” Finn says apologetically

“Well, yeah I regret it as well that it was Zack but since I can't change the past I just try to forget about it”

“Alex” Finn says seriously “if you had the proper partner you would not be trying to forget it, I can promise you that”

Is it getting hot in here? It feels like an inferno is burning everything around me. How can Finn make things seductive with just the way he speaks and looks at me? Zack never caused those feelings in me. It felt more like it was something he wanted and something I had to comply with. It never lit me on fire inside like Finn has done with just words.

“M-my turn to ask a question. Do you know why I was sent here?”

“Yes” Finn answers quickly as I wait for more details.

“Ah, so this is the part that if I don't ask the right question I might not get my answers?”

“I believe that was two questions in a row Alex. Its my turn” Finn says trying to be stern but failing when a smile forms on his sexy lips causing me to stare at them until he clears his throat to get my attention. Could I be anymore embarrassing?

“Did you love Zack?” Finn says gruffly as if he has to ask the question but not really wanting to know the answer.

“No.” I reply quickly. Taking a page out of Finn's book I smile to myself. See how you like that Finn!

“My turn!” I sing out “Why am I over here in Scotland with you and your family” I ask pointedly. Hopefully that is detailed enough so I can get my answers.

Sighing, Finn responds “I was hoping to answer this further down the road, perhaps in a few weeks? Any chance you will wait?”

“What? Why can't I know now? And that is not another question! I am simply questioning you from your question so it doesn't count.” I quickly point out. A pleading look crosses his face. Oh shit, it must be bad. Why else wouldn't he want to tell me?

“Finn, I'm sorry that you don't want to answer but I've been kept in the dark my entire life by my family. I would like to think you respect me enough to give me the answers I need.”

“Alex, its not that I don't respect you or want to tell you. I just hoped to not tell you this soon. It could change things, I would like for you to get to know me better before the serious stuff comes into play. I am asking that you please give me a little bit longer before I answer that question?” Finn pleads. Damn it, now I will feel like a bitch if I demand that he tells me. Sighing, I down my shot and then my beer in rapid succession. Ohhh it burns, hope I don't barf in front of Finn.

“Fine Finn. We can wait. BUT! I am not counting that as my question and we need to order more drinks” I grumble at him. Damn him for being so hard to say no to. Finn quickly signals the pixie for another round and smiles brightly at me as he takes my hand.

“Thank you Alex” Finn breathes out as he kisses my knuckles which causes my heart rate to pick up

“What happens when a vampire bites someone?” I ask in hopes to change topic since he is getting me all hot and bothered again. I see Finn's his whole body stiffen. Damn it, another question he doesn't want to answer?

“Seems you have found all the questions that I don't want to answer” Finn grumbles at me with an indigent look. “However, since you already agreed to wait on the previous question, I will answer this one, but you will not like the answer” Finn warns. Oh shit, this sounds bad. Now my heart is racing for a whole other reason. Am I going to become a vampire? I can't drink blood! That is so gross!

“When Cam bit you he pulled away some of your energy which is why you felt so tired and drained. Since we are immortal it canna change you into one of them” Finn assures me, he must have noticed my worried look. “However, when a vampire feeds it is usually until their victim is dead. If a vampire just takes small amounts of blood then the victim will be addicted to the bite, also the vampire becomes addicted to the blood of their victim. So their reasons for not sparing a victim is not only to keep the human from agony but also from the vampire from becoming obsessed.” Finn continues warily. I feel like there is a big BUT coming. Something that isn't going to bode well for me.

“Ok, so why does this matter to me? I am not addicted to his bite so much as I can tell so far.”

“That is true, you willna become addicted unless you are bitten by him several more times because we are stronger than humans. To my knowledge that has never happened in our history. However, this does not mean the same for Cam. After I pulled him off you, he was already back up and running after you in attempt to get to you. Luckily Alec was there to stop him.” Finn replies while watching my face pale drastically.

“Y-you mean he is addicted to me? But I thought you said he left?!?!” I ask loudly to Finn. Did he lie to me? Is Cam looking for me right now? I look around feeling paranoid and nervous. I don't want to be bitten again and I especially do not want to be addicted to his bite!

“He has left Alex. I had the guards put him in a iron crate and send him far away. I will not let him near you again” Finn states confidently. How the hell are they just going to keep the guy in a box?

“Finn, when you say addicted, how addicted are we talking here? Crack head looking for their next fix, addicted? Like maybe some rehab will fix him?” I ask hopefully. Finn suddenly looks down to the table where our hands are still together and he is methodically rubbing his thumb across my knuckles.

“No, there is nothing that will cure him. He will continue to obsess over you. After a short time he will lose all reason and logic. He will stop at nothing to have you and will have to be put down” Finn whispers sadly. I can do nothing but gape at him like a fish out of water. Put him down?!? Like he is a rabid animal? I don't even know how to kill a vampire. How am I supposed to defend myself from Cam if he gets out of his  cage?

“Finn, you have to teach me! I can't defend myself against a vampire let alone kill one!” I say in a panic.

“I will train you but it is not your task to kill Cam, it is mine. I should have kept you from him to begin with. I plan to go take care of him next week” Finn says sadly. How can he talk about killing his friend like this?

“Finn, I can't ask you to kill your friend! That is horrible. How could you even consider it?!?”

“By time I get to Cam, he will be my friend no longer. The madness that will overcome him will make him a different person. He willna even know who I am”

“He may not know who you are but you will know him and remember. I can't ask you to do that for me, Finn.” I state emphatically. I can't even begin to imagine having to kill my friend. If I let him do that for me he would resent me after.

“What are your abilities?” Finn asks slyly in attempt to change the subject. I let him because I feel sick just thinking of Cam and what I will have to do. I don't know him but the thought of killing Finn's friend is unreasonable to me. Maybe I can find a way to save him? I will file that away for later.

“Finn, I don't know if that is something I can tell you or not. My family doesn't even share that info with each other.” I reply warily

“My clan all know what each others abilities are. This helps us determine what roles are best suited to each individual”

“Ugh, fine but if I get cast out of my family because I told you then you will be stuck with me here” I grumble. It can't be bad if he knows, right? If his whole clan shares that info why don't we? Before I can talk myself out of telling him I mumble, “I don't have any”

“Why is it so hard to tell me?” Finn says irritatedly. Huh? What does he mean? I look at him shocked and see that he looks serious, is he joking?

“I'm serious, I don't have any. I-I'm confused. It is common for some to not have any extra abilities?”

“Alex, all nephilim, not just my clan have additional abilities. Why would you say that? Are you telling me your family made you believe you wouldn't have additional abilities?”

“W-what do you mean? My brother and uncle said I-” I stammer “are you telling me they lied?”

“My god, its like you live in a weird cult where no one is allowed to know anything” Finn mummers more to himself than to me then looks at me seriously “Alex, are you telling me you have no idea what you can do outside of what all nephilim can do?”

“Yes, I had no idea, I swear!” I'm starting to get pissed. Not at Finn for questioning me, I probably would too if I were in his position, I'm getting a bigger and bigger picture of my family and how they have kept us so far in the dark that we couldn't see our hands in front of our faces. Why would they lie like that?

“Alright, calm down Alex. I believe you” Finn says soothingly “We will have to get you tested, since you are so young yet they all might have not appeared yet.”

“What do you mean tested? I've never been tested before!”

“Its alright, not a big deal. I will take you to Edwin tomorrow and he can do a read on you. He just has to touch your hands and he will know. Its no big deal” Finn smiles brightly as if that will help me from going to freak out town. “Since I will know yours tomorrow, I will tell you mine” he says with a smile

“Alright” This makes me happy he is willing to give me info. I think he has realized tonight, just as I have, of how ignorant I am of our world.

“Well, I am highly skilled in bedroom acrobatics” Finn says seriously with a sexy smile. If I wasn't so worked up and upset I would probably drool on myself a little but I can't. When he sees his little joke didn't get far he sighs and tells me “I am a master at all weapons and arts of fighting” when he sees my questioning look “when I say master, I mean that I can watch any type of fighting once and have it memorized right away. Any weapon, I immediately know how to use and its best use. There are also a few other things I'm decent at” Finn finishes with a shrug of his shoulders as if its no big deal.

“Like what?”

“I, ah, well I can block my essence so I could go undetected by other nephilim. I also have some basic healing abilities” he says quietly. He has like four extra abilities? Holy shit.

“Is that normal for someone to have so many?” I ask carefully

“Not really, I guess you can call me special” he says offhanded as if he doesn't find it odd.
