Vegenrage: Dragon Reclaim (38 page)

Vemenomous flies with great speed and tackles Mezzmaglinggla in the air. They fall to the ground, and Razcour follows with great speed. Vemenomous is now a little smaller than Mezzmaglinggla, but he has great strength, and he maneuvers to her back, grabbing her front arms and wings that are connected, and pulls them back behind her neck so she cannot move. Her hind legs are free, but the rest of her body lies flat on the ground. Razcour flies down and hits Vemenomous on his left side, knocking him off Mezzmaglinggla, and they hit the ground with great force, coming to a rolling stop. Razcour faces Vemenomous with a great roar, showing his deadly teeth, but from his blind side, Zenondour, who is in the air throws a great red spear that stakes Razcour to the ground. Razcour screams in great pain. Vemenomous walks up to Razcour and steps on his head, biting and ripping off his right wing. Vemenomous begins to feed on the young dragon. He rips huge chunks of flesh from his neck and side, and Mezzmaglinggla charges to save her young dragon. Ulore with amazing speed has already been running at Mezzmaglinggla and jumps on her neck, holding on so she cannot shake him. Zenondour falls from the sky and lands on her neck as well, dropping her head to the ground with great force. Razcour has a very sharp tail with a daggerlike end, and he thrusts his tail into the back left side of Vemenomous and slams him to the ground. This catches Vemenomous completely off guard, and he is stunned. Razcour rises to his feet, bleeding badly from his right side, and charges for his mother. He unleashes his Breath of Barkshards that sink deep into the demons, and they sink into the earth before they are killed by this barrage of deadly wooden knives.

“Mother, I am sorry I brought you here. I did not think this was a deadly trap.”

Vemenomous regains himself and stands, healing from the wound left by Razcour. He casts a magical harpoon and shoots it, sinking deep into the back side of Razcour, and yanks the rope hard, pulling Razcour with great speed to him. Mezzmaglinggla watches with tears falling from her eyes, and Vemenomous bites more flesh from her young, taking his life and consuming him. Mezzmaglinggla lowers her head and extends her wings. All the scales on her body begin to flutter, and she roars loudly into the sky. She casts a spell, and a magical blue glow encircles her body. Zenondour and Ulore rise from the earth beside Zevoncour, and Vemenomous continues to feed on Razcour.

“You can fight all you like, dragon. I love it. You are all we need to begin the demon uprising, and we will have you. You cannot escape.”

“Escape is not what I am thinking anymore, demon. I have a little something in store for you. Just you wait because it is coming for you.”

Vemenomous is devouring Razcour, and he is growing so fast that all can see him get larger as he feeds. Zevoncour instructs Cormygle to finish off his mother and take her to the bed of jewel. Cormygle hesitates, and Zevoncour insists. “Cormygle, bring her to us. Dead or alive, it does not matter. All we need is her blood to be spilled into the bed of jewel containing Vlianth.” Cormygle hesitates. “Cormygle, her blood is your blood. We need the blood of the female that spawned the first demonic dragon, and that is you. You want the destruction of all the dragons, and this is the beginning of the end of the dragons. Now go get her.” Cormygle walks toward his mother and gets halfway between the demons and Mezzmaglinggla. He turns to Zevoncour and throws Xanorax at the demons. The saddle on his back disappears, and he tells Zevoncour, “I will not let you have my mother.” Cormygle stands in front of Mezzmaglinggla, protecting the only dragon to ever care for him, and flashes his teeth at the demons. “You will not have my mother.”

“What did you say? This is not the time to get soft on us. You get Mezzmaglinggla now or suffer the consequences.”

Cormygle holds his ground, and Zevoncour is just about to take away all the demon power giving Cormygle his perfect dragon form. Vemenomous, Zenondour, Ulore, and Xanorax are all looking on to see how this new twist unravels. Will Zevoncour take away the demon magic showing Cormygle in his true dragon form? The tension is thick, and none of the demons want Zevoncour to order them to fight Cormygle because Cormygle is capable of killing any of them.

“All right, Cormygle, so be it.” Zevoncour does not get in another word because Blethstole, whose presence has been concealed by Gwithen, along with his invisibility, has flown into Vollenbeln. He attacks Vemenomous from the back, landing on him and driving him into the ground. Gwithen lands on the ground in front of the demons and becomes visible, standing on her hind legs and extending her wings wide, shining a blinding white light that blinds the demons, and they have to look away. Vemenomous has been taken completely by surprise, and Blethstole bites his neck and begins to violently thrust his head back and forth, ripping with all his might, and Vemenomous has no time to react. Blethstole rips the head of Vemenomous off and does not stop there. He bites and rips off his wings and then his arms and legs then steps back, spewing magical acid from his mouth, dissolving the remains. Dribrillianth flies in from behind Zenondour and lands on him, biting his head and ripping him apart. He steps back and unleashes diamond daggers from his mouth, slicing the demon into pulp, and releases an acidic spray from his mouth, dissolving the demon. Pryenthious lands on the back of Ulore and rips the demon apart and also sprays acid, dissolving him. Zevoncour is able to vanish with the
Wogenkeld
and Xanorax before the other dragons land on them, and now all the dragons are here, except for Gairdennow and Quailrain, who are in Blethstole’s lair, guarding the young dragons. The dragons all gather together and walk toward Cormygle with anger and hate in their eyes. Cormygle stands his ground and struts his perfect form that fades right before all the dragons, and he is changed into the decrepit-looking dragon he was born as. His wings shrink down to little stubs that cannot fly. His legs shrink, and his hunched hips come back, and his front legs are thin and weak, which are only good in helping him walk. He is still very magically powerful, and he flies up and escapes through a Dimension Door. Mezzmaglinggla watches with tears in her eyes as he flies away. Gannream notices Farrah standing by the bed of jewel where Vlianth lies.

“Over here. Look, we have the human female, and this must be Vlianth lying in this bed.” Gannream walks toward Farrah, and Gwithen jumps in front of Gannream.

“No, you stay away from them.” All the dragons walk up to Gwithen, and Pryenthious walks by Gwithen, pushing her out of the way.

“What do you mean leave them alone? This could not have been scripted better. We have killed Vemenomous and demons, and here is the great Vlianth and the human female right here. We can end all of our trouble right here and now.” Pryenthious walks at Farrah, and she prepares her Dragonslaying Hands when Gwithen swings her tail, slamming Pryenthious in his side, rolling him over, and Gwithen stands in front of Pryenthious, growling and flashing her teeth. “I said, leave them alone.” She looks at all the dragons. “We will not harm them. They are not what caused our troubles. They were only protecting themselves from us. We hunted the races of man and killed their families without thinking that they would grow powerful and protect themselves from us.”

Blethstole walks up to Gwithen’s side and looks at Farrah. “You can put your hands down, Farrah. We are not going to harm you.” Farrah is very scared. Blethstole towers over her, and her heart is racing. Pryenthious regains his stance and shakes himself.

“What do you mean we are not going to harm them? What is going on now?”

“Vlianth saved my draglets from the demons and their Hellfire. I met with Vlianth before this happened and asked him to help me if I ever needed his help, and he did. He responded to my call, and I will not let any of you harm him or Farrah now.” The dragons look around in disbelief.

“It is true. I saw it with my own eyes. Vlianth protected his kind from the dragons, and then he saved Gwithen’s young from the demons. We have hunted him, and the demons have hunted him as well. I do not know what the future will bring, but this is no way to kill Vlianth. I do not know what the demons have done to him, but I will not kill him when he is defenseless like this.” All the dragons gather round the bed of jewel, and clearly, Vlianth is not even aware of what is going on. Farrah is terrified and mystified all at the same time, being in the presence of these magnificent dragons.

“So what are you saying, Mother, we will leave them?”

“Yes, we will leave them be and return to our homes.” The dragons sniff the air deeply, making sure the scent of Vlianth and Farrah is unmistakable to them. They look at Farrah and head off into the air, flying through Dimension Doors. Gwithen and Blethstole remain.

“Do you know who I am, Farrah?”

“You are Blethstole.”

“Vlianth saved my young, and so I will leave without harming the two of you. Gwithen, can you revive him from the demon spell?”

Gwithen looks over Vlianth. “I cannot. Only heartfelt magic can bring him back. Only you, Farrah, can bring him back. This charm is cast with evil and hate. The demons had planned on killing you or at least changing you into something else. Only you, Farrah, can bring him back. I will help you.”

Farrah puts her hands on Vegenrage and looks at the dragons. “Vlianth is Vegenrage, Vlanthis is Vollenbeln, and nothing can keep him from me here.” Farrah leans in and kisses Vegenrage. He breathes deeply and reaches for Farrah and pulls her into the bed of jewel, and they kiss.

Gwithen looks at Blethstole. “I guess she does not need our help. Let’s leave them be and go home now.” Gwithen and Blethstole fly into the air and through Dimension Doors.
