He stared for a moment, running his eyes across her face,
studying her. “You’ll stay, right? I don’t want to have to chase you down.”
She took a moment to ponder but she knew the answer. She’d
committed to that idea the moment she’d taken all her clients off her list.
Nodding, she answered him. “Yes. I’m staying. All leathery wings and forked
tongue. I’m done running and hiding, Dominick. I’m yours and you’re mine.”
His face filled with an absolutely beautiful smile, full of
promise and joy. He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tight. “I knew you
were mine the first time I saw you. I
knew
that we’d be together. You
made me work for it, but I’m so glad you’re here.”
Victoria settled back into his arms and breathed in his
scent. It calmed her and made her demon side purr. “I’m going to change back
and then we need to talk. I need to tell you about the changes I’ve enacted at
work, and we need to eat something.”
He chuckled under her ear and she smiled in response. How
had she fought this? Why had she fought it? She felt complete. And wasn’t that
a feeling everyone should have?
“Sure. I’m not sure what I’ve got in the kitchen but we
could order in.”
“I’m so glad you are the geeky techno-wiz that you are.
Without you working on Sin’s project we’d never have met.”
“Yeah, even though you ran.”
She grinned against his skin. “I didn’t run, I evaded.”
“Well I’m just glad you stopped ‘evading’ me and came to
your senses. You are my mate, like it or not, and we’re going to be great
together.”
She could feel the conviction in his words. She felt them too.
She’d found her mate and was amazed that even a demon could find happiness. She
tightened her wings around them and lifted her head to stare into his eyes.
“I’m so glad I did too. I love you, Dominick. All of me does, and that makes
you the first thing I’ve been sure about in a very long time.”
The surprise was replaced immediately by that glowing
emotion she’d seen before. “I’m yours as much as you’re mine.”
“Yes.”
“Then let’s get the start of our new lives off to a good
start and order some food. Then I’m going to love you long and hard again
before we curl up together in my bed.”
She nodded and hugged him for a moment longer. Who would
have thought that a succubus could find love? But she had and she wasn’t
fighting fate this time. They were mates, fated to be perfect for each other.
How could she deny that when it was so blatant in his face? “I love you,
Dominick, my demon-taming wizard.”
Between the frenzied hours of morning and bedtime I work
from home and keep my three feral children from setting the house on fire. My
husband can usually be found pushing them back into the fray as I referee our
day to day lives. My life is fueled by mocha lattes, chocolate, reading and
snuggling with my husband.
After the sun goes down I write hot and sexy romances set in
other worlds or other times. Aliens, vampires and werewolves, oh my. My
characters tend to write the books for me while I sit back and laugh or cry as
their stories pour from my fingers. Sometimes the females conquer the day and
sometimes they bend their will to a dominant male. In the end it doesn’t matter
because the characters always find love.
