Against All Odds (13 page)

I grin as he reaches around and takes my ass in his hands, slowly moving his lips over mine. I moan as he slips his tongue inside my mouth, giving me exactly what I want.

I suddenly catch myself and push him back a little bit. “We can’t do this here.”

“Oh, we can,” he says, kissing me again.

I let him for a second and then pull back again. “Come on, I don’t want anyone to see us.”

He sighs. “Alright. I should get back to class anyway. I’ll see you after practice?”

I nod as he leans in and kisses me one last time. Then he turns around and walks down the hall. And all I can do is watch him go.

The next morning I roll over and look at the clock on my nightstand, which reads four twenty-two A.M.

This is how it is now. The minute Nathan leaves me I have trouble sleeping again. Just like clockwork. I roll over and try to make myself fall back asleep.

Just as I’m about to drift off the door to my room suddenly swings open, and for a second I think it’s Nathan coming back for me. But before I have time to fully understand what’s going on I’m being pulled out of my bed by my hair.

“Ahh,” I scream in excruciating pain.

My first thought is that I’m being attacked. That someone has broken into my house and is dragging me by the back of my head to their van to rape or kidnap me, or a million other crazy things you read about but think will never happen to you.

As we approach the hall my screaming grows louder and I notice something horrible out of the corner of my eye. It’s my father. He’s just standing there with his hands in his pockets, calmly watching this entire scene unfold. It’s as if two large men carrying his daughter out of her room in the middle of the night is completely and totally normal.

I cry and scream his name at the top of my lungs, but he just stands there.

Watching them drag me down the stairs. Watching them take me away.

Missy’s standing at the bottom of the stairs crying. Next to her is a small woman I’ve never seen before. And as soon as I see Missy I scream out to her for help, begging her to make them stop this.

“You need help, Victoria,” Missy cries just as hard as me. “Don’t worry, they’re going to fix you.”

“Please refrain from speaking to the patient,” the small woman orders Missy.

The patient? Has everyone lost their minds?

I scream and kick for my life as something sharp suddenly jabs me in the arm.

Then, all I see is darkness before finally passing out….
