“Different things in different moods.”

Bayden kept his gaze on Axel’s face, hoping that some more helpful information might be forthcoming.

“I loved what you did last night. But just keep it simple this time. Nothing complicated. No fancy techniques. Don’t try to impress me. Just get me off, quick and simple, and swallow every drop.”

Bayden nodded. He could do that.

Without wasting any more time, he took Axel’s cock between his lips and dipped his head, allowing more of the length to slide into his mouth. He set up a far quicker rhythm than he had the previous night. Axel had been hard for longer, it made sense that he didn’t want to be teased—that was information worth filing away for the future.

The fact Axel had said he’d liked what they did the previous night, combined with concrete information on what he wanted to be different, settled some of Bayden’s nerves.

Working his tongue against the head every time he pulled back, Bayden did his best to keep it simple, but he couldn’t help but try to do his best and maybe use a little bit of extra technique. This wasn’t about earning twenty quid in a back alley. It wasn’t about paying his rent or winning a bet. Bayden closed his eyes. This was as different from that as anything could ever be. Maybe knowing how to do that wasn’t any use here.

Maybe that was why things kept going wrong. Maybe the alleyway was what he was really cut out for.

Axel’s hand came to rest on the back of his head. Bayden froze, abandoning his attempts to please Axel. He relaxed every muscle under his conscious control and waited for Axel to move his head whatever way he chose. Nothing. He looked up.

“Yes,” Axel said, as their eyes met. “I like that sometimes, too.” He thought about it for a few seconds, as if debating within himself whether he wanted it that particular night. “Yes,” he repeated.

He applied pressure to the back of Bayden’s head. Sliding his fingers through Bayden’s hair, he took up a firm grip on the strands. There was no doubt about what would please Axel then, no doubt who was in control and who was following whose lead.

Axel guided him to move more quickly. A few seconds later, Axel began to rock his hips, pushing his cock deeper into Bayden’s mouth each time he tugged him forward. It was strong, and certain, but there was little roughness there.

Axel controlled it all, but he didn’t go out of his way to make it difficult for Bayden to keep up. His grip on Bayden’s hair wasn’t painful. He didn’t try to force his cock deep into Bayden’s throat and make it impossible for him to breathe.

There was real control there, a desire not just to lead but to lead well. Axel didn’t need to make a point. He didn’t need to hold Bayden there, because he seemed to understand that Bayden had no interest in pulling away.

It was information, not a demand. Axel was showing him what he wanted, what he liked, just like Bayden had asked him to. There was an order in every touch, but it came from a man who knew he didn’t need to shout those orders.

Bayden looked up at Axel. Their eyes locked. Bayden had never felt so certain that he was the centre of another man’s attention.

Axel’s actions grew rougher with impatience, and just a little more perfect, as he got closer to his orgasm. He thrust deep into Bayden’s mouth as his cum spilled down Bayden’s throat. For a moment, his grip on Bayden’s hair was painfully and gloriously tight. Then, as Axel slumped back on the bed, he gentled his hold. He stroked his fingers through Bayden’s hair as if deliberately soothing any pain he might have caused, before dropping his hand to the blanket alongside him.

Quick and simple. Bayden could have cheerfully stayed where he was for a lifetime, but he forced himself to pull away before Axel got annoyed with his attempts to linger. He retreated toward the bottom of the bed, not sure if Axel would prefer to be left alone entirely. If different moods called for different things, it was possible he wouldn’t want him in the bed, or even in the room.

“You don’t have to rush off,” Axel said.

Bayden glanced up at him. Axel was wonderfully relaxed after his orgasm. He beckoned Bayden nearer and stroked his lips with his thumb. He smiled when Bayden gave in to the temptation to lick the tip of his thumb.

There was no demand in Axel’s touch, but there was acceptance, so much acceptance. It didn’t seem to be about a simple willingness to allow Bayden into his space. It felt like more than that; like an offer to let him linger over his attentions in a far more interesting way.

As if reading the idea out of Bayden’s head, Axel nodded his approval.

Cautious, aware that humans could be unpredictable even in their most mellow moods, Bayden bowed his head and lapped gently at Axel’s softened shaft. A glance up and he saw Axel smile sleepily. Bayden had read the situation right. He was allowed this.

Axel didn’t seem to be overly sensitive after his orgasm, but Bayden kept his attentions as light as possible as he pressed gentle kisses and tiny licks against the length of his softened shaft. The scent of Axel’s satisfaction was almost as heady as his arousal had been.

Moving down, Bayden mouthed Axel’s sac. Axel rearranged his legs, allowing Bayden more room, but Axel barely opened his eyes. He caressed Bayden’s cheek with a knuckle and let out a sleepy sigh.

Bayden looked up. Part of him wanted to ask exactly what he had permission to do, but words would have ruined everything. For once, Axel seemed inclined to consider words irrelevant. Bayden couldn’t spoil that. He had no choice but to trust and hope that if he did piss Axel off, he’d forgive him.

Bayden moved his head to the left and nuzzled at the skin alongside Axel’s crotch. No objection was forthcoming. Axel didn’t seem to think there was anything weird about it.

Bayden gained a little more courage. He pressed a kiss there and rubbed his forehead against the dip in the muscle alongside Axel’s hip. Moving his head up a little higher, he lapped at the fine trail of hairs between Axel’s navel and his crotch.

Gathering confidence, he brushed his cheek against Axel’s abs.

It didn’t take him long to reach the lowest of Axel’s tattoos. He licked the edge of the pattern for the first time. Somehow, he’d expected it to taste different, to feel a different texture against his tongue. There were no differences; Bayden still couldn’t resist tracing one of the lines with his lips.

Without warning, Axel slid his hand behind Bayden’s neck and tugged him up the bed. Bayden only just managed to keep his balance and not collapse on top of him. With his hands on the mattress either side of Axel, he supported himself as Axel brought their lips together.

The kiss was sweet, and brief, but it still managed to feel like ownership and praise at the same time. Axel didn’t offer a second kiss. He smiled and nudged Bayden back toward his explorations.

Bayden turned his attention to Axel’s chest. Axel sighed sleepily and shifted to make himself a little more comfortable, but he let Bayden get on with what he was doing without any more guidance.

Bayden traced his way over Axel’s skin. When his lips brushed against a pierced nipple, he ran his tongue around the little silver ring. Axel didn’t push him away, but Bayden didn’t let himself play. If Axel didn’t like it, there was no reason to. If he did like it, it wasn’t the right time.

Axel didn’t want to be turned on. This wasn’t about sex. Axel wasn’t letting him explore his body so he could get him off. It was so different to how things had been with other humans, or even other wolves.

Bayden kissed his way lower. He kept his hands on the bed to steady himself. The only part of him that touched Axel was his face.

He soon found himself drawn back to Axel’s cock. He nuzzled against the soft shaft and kissed Axel’s balls. Part of him wanted to keep going and gain as much as he could while Axel seemed so tolerant of his attention, but another side of him didn’t want to push his luck too far. Asking for too much and spoiling it all would be sacrilege.

But, the temptation was too great. He dipped his head lower. Axel automatically parted his legs to give him more room, but barely a second later it seemed as if Axel’s brain caught up to his body, and he changed his mind. He pulled away. Bayden started to retreat, but all Axel actually did was roll onto his stomach and arrange his pillow comfortably beneath his head.

Bayden waited until he was sure that Axel was settled, then crept closer. It was hard to see Axel’s actions as anything other than an invitation. Once more supporting his weight on his hands, Bayden let his lips explore Axel’s body. Starting at the top of his back, he pressed a kiss against another tattoo. Just like on Axel’s chest, the designs spread down and out from Axel’s shoulders. They didn’t reach as far down as his waist, or join together in the middle of his torso, but Bayden was sure they would one day. Axel wasn’t a man who abandoned a project once he started it.

Even though it hadn’t been long since he came, Bayden was once again hard and eager for another round. His cock ached with need, but he was careful not to let it rub against Axel as he leaned over him, especially now that Axel’s arse was turned toward him.

He worked his way down toward the small of Axel’s back, kissing and tasting him every inch of the way. He let his cheek brush against the curve of Axel’s buttock.

He’d come too far to stop. Cautious, he pressed a kiss at the very top of the cleft between Axel’s cheeks. Axel moved his legs further apart and Bayden kissed his way down toward his hole.

He kept his tongue’s touch especially light then. He kissed, he lapped gently against him, but he was careful not to replicate anything he might hope Axel would one day do with his cock if their positions were reversed. Not without a very clear invitation.

Axel murmured his approval, and reached back toward him. Bayden didn’t have time to retreat. Axel caught hold of his wrist and pulled him up the bed to lie in front of him.

The kiss was slow and sleepy. Bayden cautiously returned it, sucking on the tip of Axel’s tongue, enjoying Axel’s obvious approval almost as much as he relished the kiss.

“Good boy,” Axel murmured to him.

He brushed his thumb across Bayden’s lips. Bayden’s mouth was sensitive after his explorations. He couldn’t hold back a gasp. Axel liked that. He caressed his lips again and smiled. “So good.”

He ran his knuckles down Bayden’s body until his fingertips brushed against Bayden’s erection.

“Did you like that, pup?”

A lie would be pointless. Bayden nodded.

Axel wrapped his hand around Bayden’s shaft. His hand was much bigger than Bayden’s. It made his cock look far smaller than it did when Bayden jacked himself.

“Would a human?” he blurted out.

“The aim isn’t humanity; it’s honesty,” Axel corrected.

Bayden looked down.

“It would be a good thing to like even if a human wouldn’t have.”

Bayden glanced up.

Axel smiled at him. “Enjoying exploring someone else’s body isn’t specific to any species, pup.” He pulled Bayden closer. Bayden couldn’t stop his cock rubbing against Axel’s skin. Axel looked down between them. “Neither is wanting something you can’t have.”

Bayden tried to pull away, but Axel only allowed him to retreat a few inches.

“If shifters could get tattoos, you wouldn’t find mine so fascinating, would you?”

He was talking about tattoos? That was what Bayden would never be able to have? He looked down at Axel’s chest.

“You don’t need permission to touch—with your mouth or your hands.”

Bayden trailed his fingers lightly over the cross on Axel’s left shoulder. Axel’s only response was to trail his fingers over Bayden’s shaft, just as delicately.

“You’ll be allowed to come again tomorrow,” Axel promised.

Bayden nodded his understanding. “I should…” He indicated the smears of cum that still lingered on his own skin.

“Later,” Axel said. The fact Bayden wasn’t perfectly clean didn’t seem to bother him.

Axel arranged them just as he wanted them, with Bayden half pinned beneath him. Part of his weight pressed down against Bayden. His warmth wrapped around him. When Axel pulled a blanket up over them both, the world was as close to perfect as Bayden believed it ever could be.

Chapter Seventeen

“Thirsty, pup?”

Bayden perked up his ears and lifted his head. He began to push himself up onto his paws, but Axel shook his head.

“I’ll bring our drinks out here. You can stay there and keep an eye on things. I won’t be a minute.” He disappeared inside.

Bayden subsided back onto the cushion Axel had put near the lock-up’s door, right next to where Axel had spent the last hour working on one of his bikes.

If Bayden had learned anything during his time shifted in front of Axel, it was that Axel talked to him just as much when he was in his wolf form as he did when he was in his human form. The only difference was that Axel filled in Bayden’s side of the conversation for him. Bayden stretched and let out a contented little sigh, wondering if there was a way to get Axel to fill in both sides of the conversation when he was in his human shape. It would make life a lot simpler.

The sound of a car pulling into the pub’s car park when the pub wasn’t open made Bayden’s ears perk up. Sometimes the Dragons turned up at odd times on their bikes—one could have easily ridden over to discuss the previous day’s ride.

But cars didn’t arrive outside pub hours, and this car didn’t stop around front. Bayden launched up onto his feet as the car drove into the yard, where only Axel parked.

Bayden looked at the open lock-up.
Keep an eye on things.
It was the kind of order a human might give to a guard dog. It wasn’t unlike a command from an alpha to look after the pack’s territory.

The convertible sports car rolled to a stop. Bayden’s instincts took over. He took several paces forward and barked loudly at the intruder.

In any version of the world where humans were sensible, the driver would have stayed in the car—if not forever then at least until Axel came back out and was able to deal with the situation himself.

A woman got out.

“Well, now, who are you? Axel didn’t tell me he was getting a dog.” She came straight toward him, obviously not the least bit afraid. The way she talked about Axel made it sound like she knew him really well.
