Beg Me (Power Play Series) (5 page)

“Hello, is this Daemon?”

“It is.” He says huskily.

“This is Viv from the club?” I
roll my eyes at myself; do I think he’s forgotten who I am?

“Yes, Vivienne have you reached a decision?”
He must know I have, I mean why else would I be calling him.
“I’ll go. But if I change my mind at any time I’m still free to go?” I ask to confirm.
“You are always free to go. You will have a return ticket that you can use at any time.” He says “Pack light, I will arrange for all your needs once you arrive.”

“Alright, I’ll do it.”
I say quietly.

“What am I suppo
sed to tell my friends?”  I ask out loud. More to myself than to him, but he answers.
“Tell them the truth.  Friends from the club arranged for you to be a travel companion in Greece for the next 30 days.”

We hang up and I sit
staring at my phone. Greece. I am going to Greece for the next thirty days. I wonder if this is how an arranged marriage feels.  In ten minutes I’m home.

The
lights are still on inside the house, good; I need to have a chat with my friends.

Chapter Five

“You’re going where!?” Cheri exclaimed loudly.

“There is
just something about him that makes me feel like this will be a good thing. Besides, it’s not like he’s a stranger. John and Mark are good friends with him; I know they wouldn’t put me in harm’s way.” I explain, getting defensive.

“A month is a long time, what if you change your mind the first week?” Lauren asks
from where she is seated on the couch.

“I can end this at anytime and I will be compensated for the time I’m spent.”
I say, reassuring myself as much as her.

“Tell us why you want to go
. Is it just about the money?” Cheri asks concerned.

“No, it’s about finally being able to feel something different sexually
. When I was with him not only did sex feel different, I felt different about myself.” All of a sudden I am exhausted, should I have to defend myself to them? The look at me for what seems like forever and then turn to look at each other.

“If you are sure this is what you want, we support you.” Cheri says.   Lauren
nods in agreement and scoops us up in a group hug.

Please be safe” she whispers into my hair.

I will, I promise. And thanks guys, for everything. Guess I better go pack” I say and head up to the loft.

The next morning, I am starting to feel good about my decision. My bags are almost packed and I as I run down my checklist, and realize my passport is nowhere to be found. For the next half hour Lauren and I rummage through boxes trying to locate it “Hey Viv, what are these boxes marked with a blue x?  Do you think it could be in one of those?” she says, moving to tear the tape off the top of the nearest box.

  “NO! Don’t touch those.
” I yell franticly, running to the doorway of the closet.

Geez Viv don’t bite my head off I’m just trying to…” she trails off and looks from the boxes into my scared, wide eyes. “Is that what I think it is?”

I just…have fragile things in there that I am not prepared to go through” I say ushering her out of the room “Why don’t you make us some coffee and I’ll keep searching for the passport.”

I find my passport and place it in the front zipper of my backpack.  I roll up two bikinis and a few sundresses, put my sunglasses on top of my head and put my favorite heels in my bag just in case.
“Alright, I’m ready. I got my passport, photo ID, credit card and some cash.” I announce, lugging my bags down the stairs.

As we sit at the table together having coffee we
pick up where our conversation left off.

“I know
it seems like I have to keep apologizing to you lately Lauren, but I’m sorry” I say with sincerity.

Its fine,” she says with a dismissive wave of her hand. “I knew what the job entailed going in.  Don’t think I won’t take my turn to be the crazy friend.”

I laugh, “
Well aren’t we a pair? What would you mom say now if she were here?”

“Life isn’t always
roses; you need to learn to take the good with the bad.  It takes compost and sunshine together to help roses grow beautiful and strong.”  Lauren quotes. The memory of Lauren’s mom makes me smile.

You looked just like her, when you said that right now.”

“Thanks that means a lot to me.” Lauren says with tears in her eyes.
Looking at the clock on the stove, she sighs at the too early time. “Maybe you should try and take a nap before this afternoon. I am going back to bed”

I
’m surprised at how sleepy I feel even after a few hours sleep the night before, and fall asleep quickly.

I’m
scared; I can hear the buzzing of the machines.  Only this time the noise doesn’t stop.   I open my eyes and see 11:00 AM on the clock.  I can still hear the buzzing and realize it’s the buzzing sound of my phone. I thought about not answering, fearful it could be the mover, but when I look at the display I see its Cheri.

   “Hello”
I say. Nothing but silence in the background.

“Che
ri? Hello? Are you there?” Still nothing from the other end.  “Cheri you are scaring me.  Are you ok? Please say something” I sit up in bed, suddenly wide awake.

I’m downstairs can you let me in?” Cheri finally says.

I open the
front door and see Cherri in her running gear; her eyes are red and swollen from crying.  “Come in, what’s going on?”  Seeing her in this state I feel so helpless, I pull her in close for a big hug.

“I
’m fine,” she sniffs “I just fell. I’m going to bed I hurt all over. If I don’t see you before you go have a safe trip.” She tries to move past me, but I block her path.

Do you want me to get Lauren?” I ask looking her over for any signs of injury.

“No, I don’t need anyone else to be part of my humiliation.”
She says running her hand through her messy ponytail. The hospital tag on her wrist catches me eye.

You were in the hospital! Are you sure your alright” I say and pointing to her ID bracelet.

She pulls it off her arm
with a heavy sigh, and goes to her room. I follow her and watch as she crawls into her bed.

“Ouch!
” Cheri winces from the pain, but manages to make it to her pillow. “I just need to sleep this off, and throw sneakers away. I’m never running again.”

“Talk to me.
What happened?” I ask and poke her in the side.

“Let’s just say I made a complete
fool of myself in front of a DF. I didn’t even get his name.” She says throwing her forearm over her eyes.

Cheri takes
a breath before continuing.  “After the fiasco today I don’t ever have to worry about seeing him again at the trail again, I’m sure.”

“It can’t be that bad.”
I say.

I lift my head at the
sound of a car horn out front.

“That’s my ride to the airport.  Text me and let me know how you’re doing.” I say

“Just go” Cheri says dismissing me
and rolling on her side.

Make sure you let me know when you get there alright?” Cheri calls over her shoulder. “I hope you know what you are doing Viv.”

“Yeah, me too.” I say and shut the door.

Chapter Six

This is not what I was expecting.
Instead of a commercial flight, I am sitting comfortably in his private jet. This day keeps is off to a good start.  My excitement wanes as look around and imagine Daemon flying the women before me on his jet.  I don’t know why the thought of the women that came before me makes me jealous, but it does.

After the lights came on letting us know if was safe
to use our electronic devices, I put my pillow behind my head recline my seat back and push my ear buds into my ears and hit play. For someone who doesn’t believe romance will happen for her, I sure do listen to a lot of sappy music I notice as I open the music app on my phone.

I
turn towards the window and look out at the clouds, part of me wishes I could stay up here forever. I flip through the magazines on the table, but not much interests me.  I know I definitely don’t need any electronics or as seen on TV items.  I turn my iPod on and scroll down the J’s until I find him, James Morrison. With his lyrics crooning in my ears I close my eyes and drift off.

Before I know it, I am awakened by the captain letting me know that we are making our decent into the airport.  As I exit I thank the crew for being so kind to me, grab my passport and ID and make my way down to the tarmac. Pass through customs I smile at the international stamp in my passport.

“Ok
Viv, now we just have to find our ride.”  I say aloud to myself. I watch as taxis come and go and people pile into various buses.  Finally I see a man holding up a sign with my name on it, I push through the noisy crowd and make my way in the direction large, window front entrance.

As
I get closer I recognize the shape of him, that face, and those grey eyes.  I feel as if I can no longer breathe, and my feet are cemented to the ground.

“Well I had nothing else to do so I thought I would drive you myself.” Daemon says, noticing my shock. He takes my bags and kisses me on the cheek, and throwing his heavy arm across my shoulders.

My heart f
eels like it is going to beat out of my chest, it feels like I’m in a dream and moving in slow motion. He smells so fucking amazing I just want to bury my face in him forever.

“I take it the flight was good.”
Daemon asks as he grabs my bag

“Yes, it was amazing, thank you.”
I say, managing a smile at him.

When we get
out front to Daemon’s car he moves a step ahead to open the door for me. I bow my head and slide in.

“Uh, you can save it.  I’m not one of those women Daemon.” I
say looking up at him.

I lean over to his
side and open his door for him; he gets in and opens up the top.

What kind of women are those women?” He glances over at me as we pull away from the curb.

“I’m just not the kind of woman who stands at a door waiting for a man to open it.  I have two very capable hands that can open doors.”  I hold them up and turn them for him to see.

He grabs my left hand, kisses it, and places it on my lap with his hand still covering it.

“You sell yourself short, I know for a fact that’s not all those hands can do.” He says with a smile.

The electricity in his touch is back, and his words give me an odd feeling. Is he always so charming?

The roads twist and turn
through the small town, passing all the different shaped white buildings.   Some of them have blue doors and blue shutters, other buildings are an off white color.

The brief peeks I get of the ocean
in between the houses and business have me longing for more.  I look around as we pass busy streets and I am dying to ask are we there yet?

T
he silence is making me nervous; I have to say something to start a conversation.

“Everything is so beautiful here.”  I
begin.

He smiles tells me the local stories of the area including what it was like to see these places as a child, he is so descriptive it’s as if I’m sharing the memory with him. We stop at an area known as Little Venice, and to my surprise it’s very similar to the photos in the travel books. I look at all the whitewashed houses and imagine what it must have been like to see those years ago in their prime.

The afternoon goes by so fast.  We spent the majority of it walking around, and stopping at cafés here or there for refreshments.

I used our visit at an ice cream shop to rattle Daemon’s chain. I lick the co
ne in a rather seductive manner, glancing out the corner of my eye as I know Daemon is watching. He smirks at me, but doesn’t say or do anything else.
When we are back in the car, he directs me to pull my seat back.  “Put your feet up on the dashboard.” He says softly.    I am confused by his request, but I still comply.   His large hand slips down the front and inside of my shorts popping them open, slowly he slides two fingers on my clit and begins to rub.
