Looking at Ruk, a smile forms on my face, from the way my mother looked at him with such love, but at the same time such sadness. She must know that we are not meant to be, and if I hear the word ‘destiny’
again, I will scream!
“Morning beautiful,” Ruk whispers into my hair, while his fingers trace the markings over my butt cheek.
“Hey you,” I yawn and press myself into him, snuggling closer.
“I had the weirdest dream, there was an angel was singing to me, I don’t know what they were singing, but it was mesmerizing, just like the way you sing,” He tells me.
“Well, my mum popped in last night and we had a little chat, maybe it was that,” I tell him with a wicked grin, seeing shock plastered on his face.
“She was here! Did she see me?” He asks in disbelief, which makes me laugh hard.
“She saw you alright, and thought you were sexy as hell, a mighty warrior,” I tell him teasingly with a wink.
He takes me in his arms and rolls on me so that he is lying on top of me and supporting his weight on his forearms.
“You’re telling me an angel thinks that I’m sexy, and a mighty warrior?” He asks, thinking I am making it up.
“That is what came out of her mouth Ruk, and why wouldn’t she, you are amazing and not just to look at,” Giving a wink, as my fingers run down his back and take hold of his butt.
“Ok, what else did she say?” He asks, planting a gentle kiss on the lips.
“Just riddles, nothing really made sense, except when she told me to follow my heart and only my heart.”
“And what does your heart tell you Zara?” He asks while kissing along my jaw line.
“That I want a shower, with you,” I tell him cheekily.
“Well I will win your heart then baby.”
“You already have. I like being called baby, it’s much better then beautiful,”
“Because Sallack called you beautiful, does it remind you of him?” He asks, trying not to sound bothered, but feeling his heart miss a beat tells me otherwise.
“No! I have never thought that, not once. I just like baby better, it’s more you, more me.” I tell him, holding on to him tightly and wishing that right now we had a connection like the one I have with Dallah and Angus, so that he could feel the truth in my words.
“Ok baby, let’s get your dirty little body clean,” He tells me seductively jumping off the bed with me in his arms, while he kisses me passionately all the way to the shower.
Something has happened to Ruk to make him this insecure, but what that is, I have no idea, and I
do not think he wants me to ask. So for now, I will show him what it is like to be worshiped.
Walking in to the kitchen with Ruk, you can tell everyone is there and waiting for us by the shouting, that’s Mickey, the laughing and just general chatting, which is not like a normal chat, as the Brothers’ are so bloody loud when they want to get their point across, which is always.
“Wow, look at you two, you’re glowing,” Julian comments as we take our seats next to each other.
Dallah clearly elbows him in the ribs from the small gasp we hear from him.
“Yeah! What you been up to?” Sallack asks us suspiciously, as the entire table go deadly quiet, and all eyes land on Ruk and me looking for an explanation.
“Well we had a long night of amazing hot sex! Followed by a morning of shower sex...followed by elevator sex,” I tell them with a grin before taking a blueberry muffin from the platter of food.
The raw of laughter makes me jump, which makes them laugh harder. I’m sure they think
I am kidding so I look to Ruk with a raised brow; he just shrugs his shoulders with a grin and starts to load his plate.
“Ok, so what’s everyone doing today?” Sallack’s asks.
“Me and Dallah are having a pamper day, no men allowed,” I tell them winking at Julian.
“Good, don’t get yourselves into any trouble!” Sallack tells us knowingly.
“What trouble could we get into while being pampered?” Dallah asks with a smile.
“Dallah, that is like setting Zara a challenge,” He says winking.
“Hey!” I complain and everyone laughs.
“
I’m gunna miss you today baby
,” Ruk tells me telepathically, making Dallah do a cute sigh.
“
Sorry, didn’t mean to listen in
,” She says, joining our conversation in our heads.
“
Dallah go for a sec, I want to tell Ruk something dirty
!”
“Oh you’re bad!” She scolds, but aloud for all to hear.
“Who’s bad?” Julian asks the question playing on every one’s mind.
“Um...you,” She tells him, but it comes out more of a question.
“
Oh that is too funny
,” I tell her telepathically, getting a scowl of her in reply.
“
Ruk, I’m gunna miss you to, I might have to pop by today and see you, all of you
,” I tell him seductively.
“
I’ll hold you to that
,” He replies.
“Why are you two looking at each other like that?” Sallack asks Ruk and me with a frown.
“What do you mean” I ask him, as there is no way he could tell by a look, surly.
“I mean every time I look at you Zara, you are looking at Ruk like he is the only man in the world. Have you been sleeping together? Were you telling the truth before?” His voice lifts higher in frustration.
“Sallack I know this is hard, but I do see Ruk as the only man in the world,” I tell him softly, hoping to calm the situation.
His eyes snap to Ruk as he stands to his feet at the exact time Ruk gets to his.
“You’re sleeping with her, you went chasing after her as soon as we broke up!” Sallack shouts.
“Sallack what the fuck! We did not break, you gave up on us! Don’t blame this on Ruk, I was the one seducing him, not the other way around,” I tell him trying hard to keep my cool.
“Why him?” He shouts, sounding hurt.
“Why her?” I raise my voice, as I give into my anger of Sallack sleeping with another woman, and breaking my heart.
“So this is revenge?” He asks with his intense eyes searching mine for the truth.
“No!”
“You want to hurt me back?!”
“No! I would never hurt you Sallack, I owe you everything, you have made me the person I am today.”
“What, sad, lonely and stuck in this place.” He asks sadly whilst running his hands through his hair.
“No Sallack, you took me and Den in, gave us a home, a family. You were my first true love and I’m much stronger now because of you.”
“Ahh fuck it! I
want you to be happy beautiful, but why Ruk?”
“Because he makes me happy!” I tell him, sighing
“And you don’t want to be?” He asks sounding confused.
“I want to be, but we shouldn’t be together,” I tell him while fighting back the tears, and keeping a hold of my emotions.
“Why,” He asks, sounding sorry for me.
“He isn’t the one,” I tell him in a whisper as I take a deep breath to calm my emotions.
“No beautiful don’t do that, don’t crumble now after all this,” He tells me regretfully whilst walking around the table and taking me in his strong arms.
“You deserve someone like Ruk, and he deserves you. I have dreaded this day since I saw the look you two shared when you first met and he would never hurt you like I did.” He tells me sadly.
“It doesn’t matter, he is meant for someone else anyway,” I tell him full of sorrow.
“Fight Zara, you don’t get anything without fighting for it.”
He kisses my forehead and walks away from me.
“Sallack! I’m sorry,” I call to him.
He stops and turns his head to the side, listening to me.
“I know, me too.” He tells me with a weak smile as he continues to walk away.
Taking calming breaths, I turn to my side to speak with Ruk, but
he is no longer there. Discreet eyes are on me as I stand looking at the table, trying to concentrate on something so that my tears don’t spill.
“Where is he?” I ask anyone who will listen.
“He left babe,” Mickey tells me sadly.
“Let’s go sweetie,” Dallah tells me, and takes my hand in hers as we are transported to her bedroom.
Flopping onto her bed, I cover my face in my arms. Why couldn’t I stay stronger, why did I have to tell Sallack everything?
“Zara, don’t feel bad, it was time you and Sallack cleared the air,” She tells me, while sitting beside me where I lay on the bed.
“Yeah, I know. When did Ruk leave, please don’t lie,” I ask her, knowing that she won’t want me to fret over it.
“Ahh sweetie, he left when you asked Sallack ‘why her’.”
“Great! So he thinks that I’m doing this to get back at Sallack.”
“No, Ruk isn’t like that, he won’t jump to conclusions,” She tells me in good faith.
“You don’t know him Dallah, no one really knows him. I have found out that he is not the confident, secure man we see him as, he is self-doubting. He thinks that he doesn’t deserve me, that I wouldn’t be proud to have him at my side. I would Dallah! I would give my life for just one more week with him,” I tell her as the tears pool in my eyes.
“I know sweetie, I have seen in his heart. You know him now; you know how to show him what you really feel.”
“Yeah, I just don’t know what to do anymore. I want him to know that he is important to me, but I can’t ruin what we have by falling for him, if I haven’t already.” I tell her with regret.
“I have a feeling he already knows sweetie, the heart wants what it wants. Don’t be ashamed that you let him into your heart Zara. You need to find love and be loved, just like we all do.”
“No I don’t need that; I can be strong without a man at my side.”
“I know you feel that way, but it’s only half true. When you have your chosen at your side, there will be nothing to fear, nothing will hold you back.”
“Dallah, true strength is keeping it together when everyone expects you to fall apart. I know that you all worry for me, but my strength grows from my weakness,” I tell her with need for her to listen to my words, and to believe them in her heart.
“Goddess you are strong, so strong, but I will worry for you the rest of my life.”
“How are you feeling about today?” I ask her needing to get of the
subject of me.
She has told me that she is happy that the time of the bonding has come so quickly because the sooner it’s over the sooner she can be with Julian. Nevertheless, I can feel how nervous she is about it, and how she worries that something will go wrong.
“I’m ok, I don’t feel bad for what will happen to him tomorrow, he has ruined so many lives, he doesn’t deserve to live, when so many have fallen at his hand.
“I know, but I can feel you worrying about something going wrong, but it won’t Dallah, I wouldn’t risk it if I didn’t think we’d be successful.”
“Oh, I don’t doubt it Zara, I just worry for the consequences,” She tells me as I feel her anxiety kicking up a notch.
