Bound (The Onyx Wolves Book 1) (23 page)

I curse myself for ruining that for her and move my bag around to my front so I could dig inside of it for the few cans of food I had in there.

I pull them out and hold them out to her. “Here take these, it’s the least I can do for helping us.”

“I can’t take those from you, Gale.” She argues.

I smile enjoying the sound of my name on her lips. “You can, and you will take them, River. If we’re leaving tomorrow my brother and I can find more as we travel.”

She nods taking three of the five cans I had to offer her.

I try to offer her the last two but she shakes her head roughly as she pushes my hand back into my bag. “You need to keep those. You might need those if you run into trouble.”

I nod and close my bag before sighing awkwardly.

I had no idea what to do next, did I say something, did I just walk into the room, or should I just pull her in for the kiss that I so badly longed for?

My question is answered for me when she walks away abruptly.

I sigh roughly scrubbing my hand over my face before walking into the room.

This was going to be a long night.
