Breaking Bedlam (Beautiful Bedlam Book 2) (30 page)

“Stop calling me that.”

“Okay. Cherry.” He yelled obnoxiously in her ear.

“I’ve got AP Chem, I’ll see you later.” She sighed as Logan kissed her on the cheek before she left.

“Seriously I preferred it when we hated her snooty hot little ass. Your girlfriend’s a bitch and hates me and why is it that she thinks this is mine?” he asked referring to the drugs.

“Please just go with it.”

“Whatever dude.” Trent said airily and watched as Sienna’s perfect figure faded as she entered the building and shook his head slightly.

“She’s so hot. I get why you like fighting with her. She’d turn me on too if I wasn’t in to annoying self-righteous uptight brainiac virgins.” He chuckled then stopped when he saw the deadpan look on Logan’s face.

“Oh, bros over hos of course dude. I’d never go there.” He said quickly.

“Don’t worry Trent, I don’t think I’ll ever have to worry about losing Sienna to you.” It was now Logan’s turn to chuckle to himself as he put his arm around his buddy and went in to start the first day of senior year of high school.

The first thing Sienna noticed was the way everyone was suddenly being so eerily and overwhelmingly nice to her, as in overly nice like opening doors for her and smiling and waving at her in hallways and staring at her and giggling. Yes giggling. The giggling had to stop. What baffled her even more was that the giggling was coming mainly from the members of her own sex causing her to often run her tongue over her teeth wondering what it was on her face or in between her teeth that was so amusing to them. These were people who A) she was pretty sure she’d never even met before, B) people whom she’d known her entire life but never really ever spoke to and C) the mean popular kids, yes the same very kids who tried and failed to kick her ass and start a petition to get her kicked out of school.

“Oh my god, your hair is totally to die for. Tell me what products you use on your hair. Seriously I’ll like die if you don’t tell me!” Melanie Boscovich squawked as she cornered Sienna in the chemistry lab. Sienna looked up like a rabbit caught in a trap, wide eyes constantly shifting towards the door in chance for an escape. Mel wasn’t alone. A couple of other of Bethany’s cronies were surrounding her pretending as if they weren’t the very same girls who had spread nasty rumors about her and spray painted ‘skitso’ on her locker.

“I use papaya shampoo and Moroccan argan oil sometimes.” She answered confusedly.

“Moroccan oil. Morocco! Is that like near China? See I told you she’s so cool Becca.”

“She’s totally like right here.” Sienna interjected unable to resist imitating them by jutting her chest out and twirling her hair around her fingers. Fortunately, the girls weren’t astute enough to pick up on this.

“Listen I’m having a party at my house this weekend. You should come. It’s exclusive. Not for any of those weirdoes, you know.” She said and immediately turned to look at a couple of girls sitting at the front of the class.

“Define weird.” Sienna frowned.

“Um, I don’t know like…people who aren’t like us.” She said and ran her fingers through her sleek glossy bleach blond hair then flicking it over her shoulder. Pretty. She meant pretty.

“Anyway you should tell your boyfriend to come. He’s the best.” Mel said dreamily and even chewed her bottom lip letting out another…get this…giggle. Sienna wished she had fork ready nearby for some reason to gouge out the love hearts that appeared in those perfect grey eyes of hers.

“Isn’t he just?” Sienna retorted through her gritted teeth and strained smile knowing for sure Mel was another notch on Logan’s belt.

“So can you make it?” she asked suddenly.

“You know what Mel, I’d love to but I’m sorry I can’t. I have to wash my hair.” Sienna remarked brazenly, flicked her hair over her shoulders and went and sat at a desk near those girls just as Haven Falls’ sexiest man alive just walked through the door with his ocean violet blue eyes, dark hair and smooth British accent.

“Thank god you’re here. I was afraid I was going to get stuck in a free period with Barbara Millicent Roberts over here.” Sienna hissed just as Blake made his way over to her with a smile on his face clearly happy to see her after the long summer break.

“Who?” Blake asked bewilderedly with an amused look on his handsome face.

“Barbie.” Sienna whispered, her eyes darted to the side to where a group of very angry well-groomed girls sat.

“I’ve missed you too Sienna.” Blake grinned at her then took his place behind his desk.

“Wait, I just realized. What are you doing teaching AP classes?” she asked in a whisper as students came bustling in just as the bell rang.

“I’ve been upgraded.” He told her as he handed her a worksheet.

“Lucky you.” She whispered wryly.

“Lucky me.” He whispered back his eyes lingering on her for a little longer than they had both realized was the norm before moving on to the other desks.

She glanced at the paper before looking up to see those same very ‘weird’ girls staring at her with amused looks on their faces. Before she could question or scare the living daylights out of them as to why they were staring at her, depending on your philosophical viewpoint, Rose and Noah came walking in hand in hand.

“Hey Sienna,” Rose greeted her politely as they walked past. Noah as always said nothing and retracted his handed slowly away from Rose’s much to all of their confusion. Sienna wished he’s stop doing that. They had been dating for at least five months now but whenever they bumped in to her in town be it at the library or at the local grocery store Noah never spoke to her, forever sulking in some corner and distancing himself away from his girlfriend almost as if he either thought for some wild reason that it would hurt Sienna’s feelings or that he still clung on to some little hope in hell that she would come back to him. Thus the reason why Rose was beginning to hate Sienna even though she knew it wasn’t her fault.

The pros about senior year of high school were that Sienna had more free periods between classes and more time to spend with her doting boyfriend and to study. The cons consisted of trying to keep up your stellar grades to beat out Lee Young for the valedictorian spot, get a scholarship to Stanford, write a outstanding personal essay for college and figure out how you were going to break it to your childhood sweetheart that you weren’t applying to the same college he was destined to go to since his parents first saw him as a fetus on a sonogram and thus inevitably ending your epic love story for the purpose of higher education. Sienna sighed. She figured she’d start with the studying part so she did and during her lunch break she met up with Logan.

“Oh my God, how do you live with this? Seriously, is it just in my head or are people constantly staring? Look I give it three seconds. One. Two. Three. See! They look again.” Sienna hissed under her breath trying to be discrete as possible as people, seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen she didn’t even know kept glancing their way. So this is how it felt to sit at the popular kids table. Who’d have known she would have hated it so damn much?  They outside in the court today due to the beautiful early fall weather.

“You’re paranoid.” Logan told her and stole one of her fries.

“I am? I think it’s the medication.” She whispered not wanting to be overheard.

“No, its called being an insecure neurotic freak. You’re one of us now. You’re hot. People are going to look. Get over it.” the scariest and probably the most beautiful girl at their school said astringently as she sat down at their table.

“Bethany Simmons, the bane of my existence.” Sienna said through gritted teeth.

“Oh likewise honey.” She retorted airily and eyed Logan like he was a piece of meat.

“Hey guys, come over here! Sit with us!” she shouted suddenly as she noticed Noah and Rose walking behind them.

“Why would you call him over?” Logan hissed irritably.

“Be nice to him. It’s been a long time since…that night.” She said hesitantly referring to the night of the winter formal where she and Logan had danced in front of the entire school and kissed just as her date and then boyfriend for seven days came in distraught and jealous starting a fight which Logan quickly ended and won. Her eyes darkened as she remembered how that night ended, finding her dead father’s corpse after having shot himself in the head with a revolver in the garage.

“Just be nice okay?” she asked gently.

“Okay.” Logan murmured softly following her train of thought and squeezed her hand.  Trent made a whipping sound and gesture behind them, which they promptly ignored. “Hey guys.” Noah said surprising them all by being the first to speak.

“Hey, Sienna.” He said softly addressing her in what felt like years as he sat on a chair near them.

“Hey Noah,” she replied pleasantly.

“Logan.” he said nervously as he looked at Logan’s ‘Die, Noah, Die!’ expression.

“Noah.” Logan said though a strained smile, his face looked as if it physically hurt him to speak to him without wanting to jump over the table and knock him out.

“What? That was nice.” He retorted nonchalantly as Sienna glared at him.

“See isn’t this nice, all of us sitting together. Like old times!” Rose said with forced glee and happiness in the prolonged awkward silence that sat with them all.

“Puh-lease, I never used to sit with you dweebs now look at me. Fate’s a bitch.” Bethany said petulantly as she texted on her iPhone.

“What are you doing?” Sienna asked as Logan suddenly put his arms around Sienna.
“I’m baiting him. Look at him squirm. I don’t like it. He’s still obviously in love with you.” Logan hissed so loudly she was pretty sure the people two tables away heard.

“Oh my god Logan, would you please shut up? Honestly, do I have to teach you how to whisper?” Sienna whispered back anxiously.
“I don’t care if he hears.” He growled back petulantly and shoved at least ten fries in his mouth all at once. Wow. She’d never thought Logan Jackson of all people would stress eat. You’d never think it judging by his Calvin Klein male model good looks.

“Gee, I wonder if he heard.” Noah remarked drolly.

“This is Rose by the way, my girlfriend.” He said referring to most uncomfortable looking person sitting at the table that continue to grow and fester with more and more people like mold on a petri dish.

“Oh hello there Rose, didn’t we have pretend sex once so that you could sabotage my relationship with my oldest dearest most beloved friend?” Logan quipped wittily.

“Okay I’m offended.” Trent said to no one in particular.

“Oh come on Logan, you’re going to talk about sabotaging friendships, really?”

“Noah, I-“
“You
stole
my girlfriend.”

“Of all of five minutes! You didn’t even make it to first base. Sienna told me!”

“Yes, we did!” Noah replied obstinately.

“Oh my god, why are we having this conversation?” Rose groaned looking as disgusted and confused as Sienna felt.

“No we didn’t…well technically once, but it was more of a peck.” Sienna said confusedly recalling the one time he kissed her lightly on the lips after a class.

“What? You never told me this.” Logan said looking most certainly surprised and even a little betrayed.
Oh really? You sleep with god knows how many girls and you’re jealous of one guy who kissed me chastely on the lips once?

“Because I didn’t even think it qualified as one! It came as a shock it was so quick. My great grandmother used more tongue than he did!” Sienna shouted exasperatedly causing the tables nearby to laugh.

“Ewww!” they all exclaimed.

“Sorry.” She winced and slumped lower in her seat.

“Enough! If I have to sit here and listen to you losers fight over this grandma face sucking weirdo I’m going to go crazy and ruin my diet by stuffing a bunch of carbs down my throat so here’s what’s going to happen losers. You two cavemen are going to put your sticks down and stick with the girls you already have whilst Trent and I will go back to being fabulously single. Done. No more incest talk.”

“Bethany’s right.” Sienna sighed, words she thought she’d never say or hear.

“I’m sorry. Could you repeat that?” Bethany scoffed with her hand cupping her ear.

“Hell will freeze over first,” Sienna grimaced.

“Well with global warning, I’d say we’re almost there.” Logan said wryly.

“You’re right. It’s our senior year. We’ll all go off to different colleges next year and probably wont even see each other again for years so lets make memories. Let’s not fight over stupid things that wont even matter in a few months. We should all forgive each other and move on.” Sienna said earnestly.

“You’re so gay.” Bethany snorted and rolled her eyes at little Miss Perfect.

“What? I have a father who is gay.” Beth said defensively as everyone stared at her.
