“Actually, we have a whole arsenal in the basement

as a plan awoke in his head

Carrie was the only one who wasn’t listening to him and
only played with her black ring
while thinking
of everything. Will she ever
go back to her normal life
when
this is over?
Jacob looked at her for a split second, immediately noticed
something was wrong and asked:
“What’s happening?”
He put his hand on her knee but she moved away quickly
as she didn’t want to confess to him. But Morton didn’t give up that easily, he took her hand and asked
:
“Do you prefer to talk in private?”
She nodded her head and
let
him
take her to his room.
She d
idn’t mind the dark climate now
and actually felt comfortable in it. Safe enough to confess to Jacob
.
“I’m afraid that nothing will be the same
when
we defeat Lilith”
“Every
thing will be okay, trust me”
Normally he wou
ldn’t even get so near a mortal
but now he did something else, he hugged Carrie and s
tarted cuddling her in his arms
and stroking her hair. He was quiet for a moment, not understanding why he’s acti
ng this way
and how this mortal could have changed him so much
Finally he hugged her closer and whispered into her ear
:
“You know Carrie, I
was leading
a pointless existence until now. Blake
always
was
the leader
and I always dreamed about something
like
cutting off my head or drown me in
the holy water until you appeared”
he sighed. “
That night in the Delirium C
lub I came up to you because Blake told me to. He told me to drive you back home, to steal that damn diary. At first I only
looked at you as a potential sacrifice for Lilith
but now Carrie…” He looked deeply into her eyes, black in the dim light of the room “I won’t
let
you die. I can’t lose you. I’m afraid I’m in love
with you
”
The girl held her breath
.
“Can you repeat that?”
“I love you Carrie”
Jacob said
while piercing him with his shinning eyes.
She shook her head in disbelie
f. Her greatest dream came true
but at the same time she coul
dn’t be enthusiastic about it.
She never thought that Jacob was capable of
feelings different than hate.
Before she was able to collect her thoughts, Jacob already kisse
d her with his love-hungry lips
and they both surrendered into the world of love and pleasure
When it was over
, they both
lied down together in
a satisfaction
and Jacob reached into his drawer
.
“I want you to take this to remember me”
He gave her a golden necklac
e. She gave him a puzzling look and he pointed to it
and then
she opened it and sighed. Inside there was a black and white photo of Jacob, probably from his mortal years. T
he t
ears appeared in Carrie’s eyes. She wanted to say something but Morton put a finger on her mouth and said
:
“Shh… don’t say anything.
The speech is silver
while
the
silence is golden”
He leaned to her and kissed her
again
but the magical moment was broken by Blake’s yell
:
“T
he t
wilight came! It’s time to go to the cemetery”
They both came back to
the
reality and stood up from the bed. Jacob pulled the curtain
s up and looked from the mirror
and the moonlight
was shining
on his handsome face
.
“It’s time”
he said and looked at Carrie. The girl squeezed her necklace and nodded her head
.
The moment of truth came. Their moment of truth
.
Chapter 11
When they got dressed and went back
to the living room,
they noticed that
it
turned into a giant armory. It turned out that everyone but Paige carried chests filled with weapons there. As she saw this
,
Carrie thought that the Morton brothers must have been collecting weapons for years. They had it all: From rapiers, blades to the most modern guns. J
ay took one of them in his hand
and smiled to the girls.
“What are you waiting for
,
girls?
Pick something and let’s go” Blake rushed them
and it was true – he really loved to lead
.
They all came up to the chests and searched for the right weapon
.
“It must have taken you yea
rs to gather all these weapons”
Carrie
said
under her nose
.
Blake sighed and said
: “That’s true
but we don’t have time to tell
our life’s story. We have to go
“
Pa
ige picked a short silver knife
that perfectly fit
ted into her hand
and Carrie decided that she’ll take the bottle of
the
holy water that they took
from the
church. No
one complained about her choice
and they all left to meet their destiny.
The
gate to the cemetery was closed and
they had to pass through the iron fence surrounding the cemetery. The members of the Dark Star did that without a prob
lem and helped Jay,
Carrie and Paige
to
cross it. When they all stood on
the
solid ground
, they noticed that Jay was missing
but after a while he jumped through the fence screaming
:
“Woohoo!
Let’s go
,
Dark Star
!
”
They hushed to quiet him down
but he didn’t care abou
t it at all. That’s our Dalton,
Carrie
thought
and shook her head
.
“Where exactly
Lilith
will
summon Aur
ora?”
she asked Zack. The boy looked into the distance
.
“In the old part of the cemetery
”
“
Ok
ay. Let me take the lead then”
On their way to the destination they crossed the
narrow pathways of the cemetery
and even though she tried to keep her cool, Carrie was shaking constantly. She never liked
that grim part of the cemetery and didn’t want to go there
but she calmed down a bit after Jacob came to her and took her hand into his.
A statue of an angel divided the new part o
f the cemetery from the old one
in
which a rotten smell reigned.
When they entered it
,
Carrie
, Jay and Paige
felt so sick that t
hey almost collapsed and barfed
but
they all moved forward. Zack pointed something with his finger
.
“There. She already started it”
Lilith, dressed in a pitch-black dress,
was sitting
next
to one of the destroyed graves
while chanting som
ething. They came closer to her
but Carrie still couldn’t discern what she was saying. She
was speaking
some kind of archaic tone – Arabic or Latin. When she finished chanting, a flash of lightning appeared and next to her
there
materialized
an
equally
beautiful woman with black hair.
Aurora
.
“Now
” Blake said.
Carrie
thought it was weird that he gave the sign to start precisely in the moment she wanted him to do so. She jumped from the trees with the others and said to the demonic sisters:
“Not so fast”
The vamp
i
resses looked at the intruders with furious eyes and their mouths widened in predatory smiles
.
“It’s so nice that you came. I forgot to mention t
hat my sister Aurora will be a guest at your little ceremony”
said Lilith
.
Carrie looked at the black-
haired vamp
iress for a moment and then
she turned her sight towards the other one
.
“It’s the end of the line
,
Lilith. We’ll send y
ou back to where you came from”
Carrie
said,
trying to have a threatening tone
.
Lilith and Aur
or
a looked around and laughed
.
“You think so?”
the blonde
asked
“My servants would never dare to do that…”
Then Jacob aimed his gun directly at Aurora
’
s heart and pulled the tri
gger. A loud bang could be heard
and Lilith’s sister chocked on her blood, holding her stomach wound. But at the same time she still stood wit
h an evil smile. Lilith laughed
and both of them attacked
.
The night air was f
illed with the sounds of shoots
and clanks of metal. The cemetery
quickly became covered in blood
and Carrie noticed that even though they were all covered in wounds, the two vamp
i
resses were unharmed.
And then Carrie remembered the bottle of
the
holy w
ater which she had in her pocket
and since nothing else worked
,
she decided to try it. She took the bottle, opened it and screamed
:
“What do you think of this?”
as she waved her weapon
.
Lilith and Aur
or
a, covered in blood, jumped at her with a hiss. But Carrie was prepared and threw
the holy water on their faces.
The vamp
i
resses
were crying
and tr
ying
to wash of the burning liquid
but that only
worsened it. Carrie and her companions
were observing
how the two diabolical sisters left the world of living
.
When their screams went still,
the
silence governed the cemetery again
.
But sudden
ly the members of the Dark Star
began
grunting
. Jay and Paige immedi
ately got closer to Carrie and
they observed the vampires together.
“Blood… we sense your blood… we
crave
your blood!” Blake took a deep breath and looked at them with a grim look
.
They all got closer to them, Carrie looked at Jacob with
a hope
but his eyes were also growing with
the bloodlust
but even in his present insanity he managed to say:
“Save yourself
,
Carrie. Save your friends. Pour
the
holy water onto us and
set
this world
free
from
the
vampires”
The girl und
erstood that he was suffering.
For a second she remembered the moments
of passion they spend together
but then she heard him whisper
ing
‘please’ w
hat made her realis
e that even though they were once lovers
,
he was still a vampire
and shouldn’t exist, the realis
ation of which forced her to open the bottle
again
and pour the contents of it into the vampires faces.
