Chapter One

The wind blew through the trees like a calm breath from
the sky. As Heather drove down the lonely lane to her childhood home, she felt
as though nothing had changed. The small town lacked excitement, and after
spending four years away in college, she was dreading her return home.

The warmth of her mother’s embrace and the look of pride
on her father’s face helped soothe her boredom, at least a little. She loved
her family, and she was glad to see them, even her older brother Henry who used
to tease her as a child.

“I’m so glad you’re finally home!” her mother exclaimed,
pulling her in close.

“What are your plans now?” her father asked before she
could even set her bags down.

“I just want to sleep,” Heather said with a smile.

She disappeared to her room, looking around; it hadn’t
changed much more than the town. Her posters of female athletes and her
favorite boy band members made her feel like that awkward kid that lived there
before college.

The last few months on campus were lonely as most of the
students she had become close to celebrated their graduation ceremonies in May
and September. She had to finish up her last credits, so her ceremony was held
in November; well, after the new students trickled in and made the campus their
home.

“Hey sis,” Henry, her older brother poked his head in her
room.

“Hey,” she said, trying to force a smile on her face.

“I just wanted to say hello before heading back into town,”
he said.

“Are you ok?” he added.

“I’m fine. It just feels like I’m pedaling backwards,” she
said with a chuckle.

Henry sat down on the edge of her bed, stroked her hair
from her face, and then smiled.

“It’s just a stepping stone. You have amazing things
waiting for you out there…somewhere,” he said.

“Thanks Henry, that means a lot,” she said.

Even though Henry used to call her metal mouth, four-eyes,
and skinflint when they were younger, she still knew her brother loved her, and
she loved him.

After Henry left the room, she pulled out her high school
yearbook and thumbed through her pictures. She couldn’t believe the
transformation that had transpired since college.

Those horrible braces were finally gone, and her hair was
no longer stringy, but silky and perfectly layered by a professional stylist.
She stood in front of her round wooden mirror in her room and looked at her
figure. She loved how her breasts were full and round, and the curves she never
had as a teenager had finally appeared in all the right places.

“Heather, Caleb is here,” her mother yelled from the
bottom of the stairs, her voice echoing down the long narrow hallway.

Heather knew she should be more excited about seeing her
boyfriend Caleb; after all, it had been months since she had come home for a
visit.

Caleb was standing at the bottom of the stairs talking to
her brother when she walked down. When he caught a glimpse of her out of the
corner of his eye, he stopped, turned, and smiled from ear to ear.

“Oh hell, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes!” he exclaimed,
and then rushed her into his arms.

He picked her up from the ground, squeezing her tightly as
he spun her around like a doll.

“Easy,” she said, pushing herself back to the floor.

“I just can’t help myself; you look amazing, just
beautiful,” he said.

Heather held onto Caleb’s hands, looking deep into his
bright blue eyes. The freckles on his nose and cheeks made him look like a
little kid, but his squared jaw line, scruffy face, and thick muscles bulging
from his t-shirt proved he was a man.

Henry said his goodbyes, distracting their parent’s from
Caleb and Heather long enough for him to pull her out onto the porch.

“Let’s go get ice cream,” he said.

“It’s cold. Who eats ice cream in November?” Heather
asked.

“Then let’s take a walk,” he said, still smiling like a
wild animal ready to pounce its prey.

Heather agreed, grabbed her jacket from inside the door,
and told her parents she would be back for dinner.

Caleb grabbed his jacket from his truck, and then extended
his hand to Heather. They walked along the path past the barn to the pond where
they used to skinny dip in high school.

“I’m so glad you’re finally back for good,” Caleb said.

Heather had no intention of being back ‘for good’. Like
Henry said, this was just a stepping stone.

“I have to figure out where I’m going from here,” Heather
said, pushing her mouth into the collar of her jacket as she spoke.

“You just got here, and you’re already talking about
leaving?” Caleb asked.

She could see the hurt in his eyes, and she hated to hurt
him. He was always so sweet, even in high school. While the other boys teased
her for her awkward looks, Caleb always told her she was beautiful.

“Well, there are not a lot of marketing opportunities here,”
Heather said.

“You can make your own opportunities,” Caleb said.

Heather knew he was planning on living in the small town
for the rest of his life. He wanted to start a family, live in his
grandparents’ home that he inherited last year when they passed away, but that
wasn’t her plan.

“There’s one billboard in the entire town Caleb, and
that’s for the casino 50 miles away,” she said with a chuckle.

“Your brother came back from school and made an
opportunity here,” Caleb said.

“He’s a doctor,” she said.

She was proud of Henry for completing medical school, but
she was shocked he came back home to practice in their small town. It felt like
everyone was happy there; everyone except her.

“We have plenty of time to decide what we’re going to do
with our lives,” Caleb said with a smile.

He pulled her in close, nuzzling at her neck with his cold
nose, and squeezing her tightly in his arms.

She loved the way he smelled. The cheap Preferred Stock
cologne he had been wearing since high school still made her weak in the knees.
His soft touch, his kind heart, and even his naïve view on the world all made
her fall into his world face first. She just knew she couldn’t stay there, no
matter how comfortable he made it sound.

Chapter Two

Caleb gripped Heather’s chin in his hand, moving it to
face him. His eyes were soft and kind and his lips looked hungry. She knew he
wanted to kiss her. She was surprised he had waited this long.

The crickets sang into the cool night air as Caleb pushed
his lips against Heather’s. They were soft, thin, and tasted like orange soda.

His tongue pushed into her mouth, slowly stroking the soft
skin inside her cheeks. She felt like a teenager again as his hands fumbled
into her jacket for her breasts.

“I’ve missed you,” he whispered as he released his grip on
her mouth.

“I’ve missed you too,” Heather said softly, even though
she knew it wasn’t nearly as much as he had missed her.

His mouth pressed against her neck, biting softly on her
chilled skin. His hot breath was welcomed as he nibbled on her ear and kissed
her neck.

Heather felt Caleb pushing her back onto the long grass.
His hands slid under her sweater, cupping her breasts, squeezing them tightly.
His tongue invaded her mouth as he positioned himself on top of her, pressing
her into the soft grass.

His hands pushed her sweater over her breasts, and then
his mouth took over squeezing her breasts. His tongue slid across her skin
aimlessly, only brushing up against her swollen nipples by accident.

Caleb was not very experienced, but since he was the only
one she had ever been with, she wasn’t sure what to compare his lovemaking
skills to, or who.

Her body always seemed to respond to his touch, no matter
how awkward. As his fingers worked to unbutton her jeans, she felt her juices
start to flow between her legs.

She arched her back towards him, helping him to slide his
hand inside her jeans. His cold fingers against the hot skin of her pussy
increased the sensation. And when he slid one inside of her, it felt like she
was melting a popsicle with her plump folds.

Caleb’s erection was pressing against her hip bone,
grinding hard into her as he pushed his finger deeper between her legs. She
reached down to release him, and slowly stroked his hot meat with her cold
hands.

“Shewee, that’s cold,” he said, tensing up from her touch.

“I have a great way to warm him up,” Heather said, letting
go of his hard cock and sliding her jeans down around her hips.

Caleb smiled, and then leaned down to kiss her mouth. He
reached down, guided his cock into her, and then let out a sigh of relief once
it was tucked into her warm pussy.

“That’s much better,” he said, kissing her softly on the
neck as he pumped himself into her with slow, steady thrusts.

His hands returned to her breasts, this time pinching at
her nipples, twisting them, turning them, and pulling on them. Heather let out
a squeal from the sensation, causing Caleb to pump harder into her tight pussy.

Caleb’s cock wasn’t large, but it was long and lean,
hitting spots inside her body that she could never reach with her own fingers.
She loved the tingling sensation she got between her legs and in her breasts as
he slid in and out of her. She was pretty sure it wasn’t an orgasm after
talking to girls from school.

Heather wanted to open her legs wider, allowing Caleb to
push deeper into her, but her jeans kept her legs from moving. He pushed hard
into her, fucking her faster and faster as his face started to wrinkle, and his
eyes clenched shut.

She felt his cock swell inside of her, and then hot juices
flow into her body. His body twitched as he opened his eyes and let his face
relax. His eyes were locked onto hers, he leaned in, kissed her on the mouth,
and then slid out of her so she could adjust her clothes.

“I’m sorry,” Caleb said as he pulled grass to use to clean
up his mess between Heather’s legs.

“I just really missed you,” he said.

Heather knew he felt bad when he would cum so quickly, but
she wasn’t sure why he apologized since he had done it every time they were
together.

“It’s ok,” Heather said, reaching up to grip his face in
her hands.

“I love you,” he said, leaning in to kiss her soft lips.

Heather kissed him back, lingering her lips on his long
enough to avoid saying the “L” word back to him.

She had told him she loved him right before she left for
college, but she hadn’t said it again since. It was scary when she left her
home, and the only thing she ever knew, so it just came out.

There were so many things she wanted to experience before
she settled down with anyone. With Caleb’s lack of ambition, she knew there was
little chance she would choose to settle down with him.

“I better get back; mom was making my favorite dinner,” she
said, adjusting her clothes, and then standing to her feet.

“Meatloaf and creamed corn?” Caleb asked, smiling because
he already knew the answer.

Heather did love the fact that he knew so much about her.
She just wasn’t sure she actually loved him.

“Of course,” she said.

She hadn’t had the heart to tell her mom that she had a
new favorite meal. While she was studying in California, she had decided that
sushi was her new favorite food, especially the spicy tuna.

But, it was nice to have a home-cooked meal. And from
everything her mother made, meatloaf and creamed corn was her favorite.

Caleb took her hand and led her back to the house. They
stopped at his truck so he could lean her back against the truck bed and push
another kiss onto her mouth.

“I’ll call you later,” he said.

“Text. The walls in this house are too thin to talk,” she
said.

She knew her room was far enough away from her parents and
that privacy was not an issue; she just didn’t want to sit on the phone with
nothing to say to Caleb like so many nights before.

“Ok, I’ll text you later then,” he said.

“Goodnight,” he added, and then released his grip from
her.

She watched him pull down the long gravel lane as she
stood on the porch. Her dad yelled out the front door that dinner was ready,
pulling her thoughts away from Caleb, and how she was going to tell him she
planned to leave this town.

Chapter Three

Heather had avoided Caleb as much as possible for the two
weeks that passed since she got home, but her mother decided to invite him to
Thanksgiving dinner, so there was no avoiding him today.

She brushed her long brown hair out in front of the
mirror, letting it fall naturally past her shoulders and down the middle of her
back. Her college sweatshirt was frumpy, but it was warm. And with just the
family there, Heather felt there was no need to dress to impress.

In the kitchen, her mother worked her fingers to the bone.
Heather never understood why her mother went to so much trouble when their
family was so small. It was just them - her and her brother. Sometimes, her
aunt Mildred would come, but that was only when her son was out of the country
on business during the holidays. This year, the only extra guest was Caleb.

“You’ve outdone yourself yet again,” Heather said as she
jumped in to help her mother with the prepping.

Henry’s voice was loud and cheerful as he entered the
house. Heather heard him ask their dad about the football game, and then
another male voice spoke up; one that wasn’t her fathers.

“Who did Henry bring with him?” Heather asked her mother.

“Jacob is home for the holidays. I told him he was more
than welcome to join us,” her mother said.

Heather’s heart started to race. She looked down at her
frumpy sweatshirt and suddenly felt sick at her choice of clothing for the
dinner.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me?” she asked.

“Oh dear, do you still have a crush on that boy?” her
mother asked with a smile.

Heather did not consider what she had for Jacob a simple
school girl crush. She was in love. His deep green eyes haunted her at night in
her dreams, even throughout college. His tall, dark features had several of the
girls from school in love, but since he was Henry’s best friend, she was the
lucky one who got to spend so much time with him, even though he didn’t notice
her.

“I don’t have a crush on him, but I would have dressed
better for company,” Heather said.

Her mother laughed and went back to filling her pie shell.

“Is that little Heather?” Jacob said as he entered the
kitchen.

Heather was speechless. She was frozen in her spot, and a
smile that she knew was ridiculous was plastered on her face.

“I can’t believe it. You’re all grown up,” he said,
checking her out from head to toe.

The smile on his face gave her confidence to speak. She
knew she was nothing like that little awkward high school girl that followed
him around her house. She had grown up, and she had done it quite well.

“You look great,” Heather said, opening her arms for an
embrace.

He smelled of expensive cologne, one she had never
experienced. His dark hair was slicked back, and he dressed in designer
clothes. He looked successful, masculine, intimidating.

“Thanks, I have to keep up with those New Yorkers,” he
said with a chuckle.

“New York?” Heather asked, intrigued that he actually left
the small town, unlike any one else.

“Yes, I started a marketing firm there. It’s doing quite
well,” He said, and then turned his attention over to her mother.

Heather watched as he lifted her mom off her feet, squeezing
her tightly and kissing her neck. What she wouldn’t give to have him twirl her
around in those strong arms.

“So, I hear you’re finally out of college,” Jacob said to
Heather.

“Yes. Just graduated this month,” she said.

“Congratulations. So what are your plans?” he asked.

His eyes burned through her skin. His smile was
hypnotizing, and his scent was still lingering under her nose from their hug.

“I’ve sent out a few resumes to a couple of firms in New
York actually,” she said.

Caleb stood in the doorway of the kitchen. He looked
disappointed at the words she just spoke out loud. She had not talked to him
yet about her job search, but he knew she was eager to start her career.

“Not to my competition I hope,” Jacob said.

“Probably…,” Heather said with a giggle.

“Well, at least let me offer you a package before you
decide,” he said, and then winked at her before walking out of the kitchen.

“When did you plan on telling me you were leaving?” Caleb
asked.

“Seriously? I just sent out a few resumes,” Heather said.

“I know how good you are. You’ll get whatever you want,” he
said.

Heather wasn’t in the mood to defend herself to Caleb, or
to anyone. Her mother picked up on the tension and handed Caleb a stack of
plates to go set the table.

“You know that boy loves you,” Her mother said.

“I know, but that doesn’t mean my life has to stop to
accommodate what he wants,” Heather said.

She knew her mother was proud of her, just as she was
proud of Henry. But, she was also sure her mother didn’t understand her strong
desire to leave the town and move to the big city. She thought that having a
family, making dinner each night, and growing old in a rocking chair on the
front porch was the ultimate dream. Heather just had a different idea of what
she wanted her life to be like.
