Chapter Four

The next day, Leah found herself watching Darren from her
desk, even more than she usually did. When his eyes met hers, she blushed,
despite her efforts to act like nothing had changed between them.

But everything had changed. Leah wanted more from their relationship
and not having it was like an itch she couldn’t scratch.

Even more, she hadn’t had sex since her last boyfriend. It
had been two years. It was the longest she’d gone without a lover since high
school. She had wondered if it was just her lust that was driving her towards
Darren. She decided there was only one way to find out.

She tried to decide when and how to approach him about her
new found feelings for him. They had a holiday party that Friday. It was a late
New Years’ party that everyone had agreed to put off until a few weeks after
the holiday.
Leah thought that it would be the best opportunity to talk to him. She didn’t
want to invite him out and have to treat it like a date. That was too much
pressure.

An office party was perfect. There would be a crowd but
they would be distracted enough to give her a little privacy with Darren. If
things went south, she could leave and he could make his own decision.

Darren’s eyes met hers across the hall and she smiled. She
had been staring at him without realizing it. She sighed and returned to her
screen, hoping he didn’t see the blush spread on her cheeks.

She didn’t want to give herself away before the party. It
was only a day away but she knew she would have to avoid him. After imagining
his cock, she couldn’t be around him and not feel herself getting aroused. Her
heart was tingling in her chest just thinking about him.

She wondered how feelings for Darren could hit her so
suddenly and so hard. There was no explaining it, all she knew was how badly
she wanted to be with him.

At the end of the day, Darren rapped at her door, causing
her to snap her eyes over to where he stood.

“Are you alright?” He asked her, walking into her office.

She nodded immediately, swallowing hard.

“Yeah, of course. Why?” She looked up at him, her eyes
studying his intently.

She was looking for a clue, still wondering if telling him
about her growing feelings for him was a good idea. She didn’t want to ruin
their friendship and make work unbearable.

He smiled at her, putting a hand on her desk as he came
close to her. Her fantasy came to mind and she wanted to grab his suit jacket,
like she had imagined. Instead, she looked down at her hands in her lap.

“You’ve looked a little tensed up all day. Maybe you need
a good rub down,” he said, teasing her.

She looked up at him and gave a nervous laugh. He smiled,
backing away from her.

“Are you offering?” She joked back, getting up from her
chair.

He turned to her, putting his hand on her upper arm. She
looked from his hand to his brown eyes.

“Only in my dreams, right?” He said, nudging her a little
before walking away.

Her heart was throbbing in her chest.

God, if you only knew what you’ve done to me in my
imagination,
she thought to herself.

She felt desperate for him.

When he came back into her office with his briefcase in
hand, she melted at the sound of his voice.

“Walk you to your car?” He said, expecting her answer.

She nodded, moving towards him but glancing away. He didn’t
move and she ended up only inches away from him.

“Are you sure you’re okay, Leah?” He asked her, his voice
quiet.

She was so close to him she could smell the cologne on his
neck and inhaled deeply. She nodded as she exhaled, smiling at the intoxicating
scent.

“I’m fine… really,” she looked up at him and gave him a
silly smile, relaxing him.

He put his hand on her back as they walked out of her
office and she felt electrified. She tried not to look back at him and focused
on the sickly green carpet in front of her.

They made their way past Peter’s office and were nearly at
the elevator when they heard him emerge.

“Leah,” his rough voice called out.

She rolled her eyes at Darren, who gave her a smile.

“I’ll wait for you,” he said, leaning against the wall.

She shook her head and shrugged.

“It’s okay. I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?” She said and he
nodded, turning to press the button for the elevator.

She sighed and started down the hall towards Peter’s
office where he stood waiting for her. She didn’t see as Darren watched her
walk away from him, his heart swelling in his chest.

He was starting to see the signs that Leah was putting out
for him. He knew… He was hoping at least, that she would finally tell him that
she wanted to be with him.

Chapter Five

That Friday, Darren and Leah met in the entrance of the
twenty-story building in which they worked. She was speechless when she saw
him. His suit was immaculate and he wore it very well. It was obviously
tailored for him and was just tight enough to barely show his bulky muscles.
They were hard to hide, no matter what he wore.

His brown eyes sparkled and she couldn’t help but smile as
she looked at him. She wanted to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him.

“Darren,” was all that she could say as she moved towards
him. He looked equally breathless.

“Leah,” he returned, scanning her in a way that he normally
didn’t. He ran his eyes over the curves of her body and made her blush.

When he looked at her face, he glanced at the floor, aware
he had so obviously checked her out. He opened his mouth to apologize but
stopped himself.

“You look amazing,” he said instead, giving her the most
innocent-looking smile he could muster.

She looked up at him anxiously and wondered if she should
pour her heart out right there. She wanted to just kiss him, without saying
anything. It seemed like the easiest option.

He stuck his arm out, waiting for her to take it.

“Shall we?” He asked her with a charming smile.

She took his arm and let him lead her to the elevators,
trying to keep her breathing steady. Her chest was rising and falling with the
pounding of her heart and Darren caught a glimpse down her dress as they waited
for the elevator.

He looked away after just a second, trying to keep himself
away from the temptation. When the doors opened they got in together. Leah
dropped her arm, taking it away from Darren.

“I promise we’ll have a good time,” he said, looking down
at her.

She nodded, glancing at him and smiling, trying to hide
her nerves.

After an hour of mingling with the other women in the
office, Leah glanced around, looking for Darren. Peter had just left to go
outside for a cigarette with a few of their colleagues, giving her a good
opportunity to talk to Darren.

She excused herself from the conversation she was having
with one of her colleague’s wives and went towards her office, scanning the
room for him.

She went down the hall, moving away from the party. When
she got to her office, she sighed.

“How do I approach him?” She asked herself out loud.

“Who?” Darren’s voice asked behind her.

She jumped and spun around, her hand shooting up to her
heart.

He laughed and closed his office door, moving towards her.
He put a hand on her back and one on the arm that she had used to cover her
chest.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said, still
laughing a little.

She started to smile, panting from the fright. She dropped
her hand from her chest, letting it fall to her side. Darren kept his hand on
her arm.

Her lip started to tremble at Darren’s touch and she
looked away from him, nervously. She grabbed the doorknob of her office and
opened it, taking a step in. He followed her before she could speak and shut
the door behind him. Her heart started to pound even harder in her chest,
feeling the tension grow between them. He knew what she wanted.

“Darren,” she said again, breathless once more.

He smiled, moving towards her. She backed up against her
desk and leaned against it. It was just like her fantasy. An opportunity to
rekindle the moment that had happened between them a year before.

She took a deep breath and grabbed his suit jacket with
both hands, biting her lip. Looking up into his eyes, she pulled him towards
her as her heart slammed underneath her tits.

He smiled broadly, certain of what she wanted. He put his
hands on her waist, pulling her up as he leaned down.

Their lips met and they pressed against each other
desperately. She parted her lips, letting his tongue in her mouth. Their
tongues swirled around each other.

Leah felt amazing, her fantasy turning into reality. She
pulled away and looked into his eyes again, unable to stop smiling.

“That was exhilarating,” she whispered to him.

His hands started to climb up her waist, moving towards
her chest. She closed her eyes, focusing on his touch.

But he pulled away from her, backing up several feet. He
cleared his throat and brought an arm up, scratching the back of his neck. She
frowned at him, getting up from the desk.

“What…” she started to ask as the office door opened.

It was Peter.

“What’s going on in here?” He asked as he walked into the
room, glancing between the two of them.

Leah rolled her eyes and scoffed at him.

“Jesus, nothing. I had a presentation that I messed up. I
just needed Darren’s help.” She crossed her arms, watching Peter.

He nodded at her and looked at Darren.

“Don’t worry about that right now. I paid for the liquor
at this party and we’re going to drink it,” Peter said as he left the room,
making his way back down the hall.

Leah sighed, cocking her head to the side as she watched
Darren.

“Well,” she said, throwing her hands up.

He moved towards her and brushed her thigh with his hand.

“Let’s get out of here,” he whispered to her.

She started to smile but tried to stop, “Both of us leave,
right now?”

He nodded, grinning at her.

“Meet me at my car,” he said, heading towards the door.

She opened her mouth to protest but closed it. Nothing was
going to stop her from fulfilling her fantasy.

She hopped up from her desk and went out into the hallway
carefully, taking the back stairwell down to the parking lot.

Chapter One

When Leah reached the bottom of the stairs and let herself
into the parking lot, she scanned the concrete pillars for Darren. But she
couldn’t see him.

She walked quickly to his car and tried the passenger
door. It was open and she slipped into the seat. She lowered down in the seat
in case anyone else came out of the elevator. She didn’t want to be seen in
Darren’s car. Everyone knew they were friends but she didn’t want anyone to
have reason to believe that their relationship went beyond that.

If even one person knew, she and Darren would be at risk
of losing their jobs. Leah, especially. She knew that Peter had a grudge
against her and he was unpredictable. She wouldn’t put it past him to try to
get her fired. She couldn’t give him that ammo.

There wasn’t one person, besides Darren of course that she
would trust with their new secret. Peter was a different kind of boss to most
of her colleagues. They didn’t see the side of him that she was aware of.

Her heart jumped into her throat as Darren opened the
driver’s door and slipped in. He turned to her, smiling.

Leaning over, he kissed her hard. His hand ran up to the
base of her neck as the other wrapped around her waist, drawing her closer. She
bumped against the console that separated the two seats and broke away from
him.

“Maybe we should get to your house first?” She mentioned
breathlessly.

He smiled and nodded, starting the ignition of his car. As
they pulled out of the parking lot, Darren tried to keep his eyes off of Leah
and on the road but he struggled. He couldn’t believe that she had finally
given him a shot.

He had never admitted his feelings to her before but he
was almost sure that she knew. The only time he had tried to hide his feelings
was when he was with another woman. Even then, it had been difficult not to
flirt with Leah.

“What are you thinking?” He asked Leah after glancing at
her.

She was staring out the window with her hands clasped in
her lap and looked a little bit tense. He started to worry that she was
rethinking taking their relationship to the next level.

In actuality, she was. Not because she didn’t want to be
with him, but because of Peter. She didn’t want to let Peter have so much
control over her love life but she felt like she didn’t have a choice.

She cleared her throat, opening her mouth to answer
Darren’s question. She didn’t want to ruin the mood with her thoughts. Why
couldn’t she worry about the consequences afterwards?

“Nothing,” she said, turning in her seat to look at him.
“I’m thinking about how amazing it is that I’ve known you for so long and we’ve
never been together.”

She smiled at him, frowning a little as she studied his
face. She was still astounded that she hadn’t noticed how sexy he was before.

Darren chuckled and glanced down before returning his gaze
to the road. He stopped at a red light.

“Leah, I’ve wanted to kiss you since the minute I first
spoke to you,” he glanced at her before pressing his foot down and
accelerating.

She bit her lip as her heart started to sing in her chest.
She put her hand gingerly overtop of Darren’s on the gear shift. She could feel
that his fingers were trembling ever so slightly.

“Do you remember that meeting? When we first met?” He
asked her.

She nodded as the memory came to her mind.

It was just over two years ago this past November. In
retrospect, Darren’s feelings for her had always been obvious. During the
morning meeting on his first day, he had sat down right next to her and
introduced himself before speaking to anyone else. After offering up a bad
joke, which she laughed at genuinely, he was smitten.

Leah was still recovering from a brutal break up, the
details of which she had kept from Darren. She didn’t think he needed to know
what had happened and who it had happened with. But he was willing to listen to
everything she would divulge to him, even when it became clear she wasn’t ready
to see anyone new.

“I remember that when you started at our company, I was so
grateful that you wanted to be my friend. It really made everything easier for
me,” she said in a quiet voice, staring at him.

He swallowed hard and glanced at her as they pulled onto
his street.

“When I first saw you, I knew that I had to get to know
you. There’s something irresistible about you, Leah,” he said to her and she
blushed.

He parked outside of his building. He lived in a spacious
condo that Leah had seen once before. She tucked a lock of blonde hair behind
her ear and looked down. Her silky tresses were spread around her shoulders,
covering her boobs.

When she looked at Darren, she saw the look in his eye.
This was so much more to him than sex. He really had feelings for her. She knew
at that moment that if they slept together, their friendship would be
completely over.

She squeezed his hand before pulling it away so that he
could turn the car off. She wanted to let him know that she wanted to be with
him too, romantically, but she didn’t know what to say. Her feelings for him
were so new, she wasn’t sure that she could confirm them quite yet.

Instead, she looked into his eyes and decided to tell him
something she knew to be true.

“Darren,” she said to him softly. His warm, brown eyes met
hers and bore into her, searching for comfort.

She continued, “I want you, more than anything else right
now.”
