The
Fat Fast Cookbook
is the result of many dedicated low carb dieters trying to help the low carb community break their weight los
s plateaus. Without Dr. Robert C. Atkins, most of us would probably still be eating the foods in MyPlate (formerly known as the food pyramid) in the quantities the U.S. Department of Agriculture tells us to eat. (And why is it the U.S. Department of Agriculture dictating our food choices instead of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or some other
qualified
organization?) Marcy Guyer managed the writing of the cookbook and organized the team. Azure Zebra Productions created the cover design using an Amy Dungan photograph. Judy Barnes Baker proofread the document and guided us through the production phase.

Despite the many diets and exercise programs now available, obesity is not beating a retreat. Instead, it is on the rise: 36 percent of the U.S. population today is considered obese compared with only 28 percent when CarbSmart.com first started publishing online in 1999.

Type 2 diabetes is also increasing at alarming rates. In the U.S,. more than 11 percent of adults, as well as one in every 400 children and more than 25 percent of seniors are diabetic. Another 35 percent of the U.S. population is at risk for diabetes and rates of diabetes and obesity are rising worldwide.

CarbSmart Magazine brings news of the low carb, diabetic, and Paleo lifestyles to all who can benefit from them – and we believe that’s just about everyone.

Best selling author Dana Carpender, who has written 17 books, including her two latest, 500 Paleo Recipes and The Fat Fast Cookbook, is the managing editor.

“CarbSmart Magazine provides up-to-date and unbiased information about the many benefits of the low carb lifestyle,” says Carpender. “Our focus is to cover anything that will help our readers be successful on a low carb diet, so they can reap its many benefits. We also provide information about low carb diets to control or eliminate diabetes. And we evaluate and report on the latest research & information about carbohydrate restriction and diabetic and Paleo diets to help our readers understand how these diets may help them."

CarbSmart Magazine also contains product and restaurant reviews, as well as practical tips on everything from family meal planning to eating on the go. The magazine's goal is to help its readers incorporate healthy living into every aspect of their daily lives.

About the Authors

·

Dana Carpender
A pioneer of the low carb frontier, best-selling author Dana Carpender went low carb in 1995, after whole-grain-and-beaning her way up to a size 20. Immediate weight loss and sky-rocketing energy told her this was what her body had been waiting for her to do, that she had set her foot on a path from which there was no return. However, it rapidly became clear that to eat this way for life, she—and others—needed the answer to one simple question: What’s for dinner? The answer will be found in her cookbooks, eleven of them so far, encompassing over 2,500 recipes. Dana has been fighting the low-fat lie since 1998 at
HoldTheToast.com
. She lives in Indiana with three dogs, a cat, a backyard full of chickens—and, of course, That Nice Boy She Married, with whom she shares much bacon on a pleasant Sunday morning.
