CHAPTER 4

She arrived at 5:30.  A gown had been chosen for her along with a pair of low sling back heels.  The gown was black and sheer.  When she pulled it over her shoulders it rested midway up her thighs.  She had never worn a dress so short.  She chose a pair of black sheer panties and due to the extreme hug of the dress against her breast there was no room to wear a bra.  She didn’t have large breasts but the dress forced cleavage she had no idea that she had.

Penny helped her with her makeup.  Something she still hadn’t become completely comfortable with but when Penny was finished her smoldering dark eye shadow against the black dress electrified her look.

“My God Mia!  You are exquisite.”

At 6:45 she entered the poker room for her only scheduled drink round for the night.  Seven was sitting at the poker table.  So was Hartsen.  Hoping Hartsen would be civil she made her way around the table.  As soon as she heard his voice she knew she didn’t have luck on her side.

“Gentleman, this is the lovely beauty that I brought for us this month.  An amazing creature isn’t she?”

As if her nerves weren’t already frazzled now she had to stand there while he offered her as fresh meat.  Hartsen would seek to humiliate her to the lowest levels if for nothing more than knowing that he could.  He had wanted her that night and she had mocked their age difference, laughed at him even. Had she only been smart enough to realize his motive?  She would not let him break her, but she didn’t know how she would stop him.

At 7 sharp she knocked on the door.  In the fifteen minutes it took her to finish her drink orders and get Seven a drink she had no time to shed tears.  Despite her fight for freedom and the brilliance of her mind she had resorted to being nothing more than a whore.  Tonight would officially declare that.

Inside the room, Seven stood waiting for her.  “Your drink, sir.”

He took it from her and swallowed a large gulp.  “Vodka,” he asked?

“Yes sir.”

“Why did you choose this for me?”

She lowered her eyes to the floor.  “You asked me to bring you what I wanted.  I don’t care for dark liquor.  I brought you what I like to drink.”

“Hmm.  What brand is it?”

“Grey Goose,” she softly replied.

“It’s a good thing for you that I like Gray Goose.  Any other Vodka would have been a disappointment.”

She glanced back up to him.  That was when she noticed the velvet ropes on the bed. He wasn’t kidding.

He picked them up and put them in the top dresser drawer.  “I will keep my word but I have to say I am terribly disappointed that I won’t get to see you bound to this bed.”

She took a deep breath.  She had a spinning desire for him.  She had almost let herself believe that he was different, but he wasn’t and the velvet ropes were a reminder for her not to forget it.  “What can I do to please you, sir?”

He made her bow down to him on the floor after removing her shoes.

“That dress looks better on you than I had imagined.”

It surprised her that he had picked it out.  “Thank you, sir.”

He bent down and gently ran his fingers across the top of her breast.  “That is a lovely site.”

She didn’t speak, she couldn’t.  She didn’t know if it was the disappointment she had in herself for wanting him or if it was because of what she was getting ready to do and what she was getting ready to do was whatever he wanted.

“Do you have a name?”

She didn’t take her eyes off the floor.  “Mia.”

“Is Mia your real name?”

“No.”  She wouldn’t lie to him but she definitely wasn’t telling him her real name.  He didn’t deserve to know it.

“You should know I am not a simple man and I am not a simple lay.  You will work for me however I see fit.  Do you understand?”

She shook her head in agreement.

Unzipping his pants she fought not to cry.

“Come here, let’s see if you are as good as you look.”

She kept her head down and crawled to him.  His size startled her.  Had she been doing this consensually it would have been a pleasant surprise.

“Don’t be afraid baby, it won’t bite you.”

She swallowed trying to push the tears away.  She had somehow convinced herself that if her first paid fuck was with him, someone she was attracted to, it would make it easier but as she took him in her hand she knew she had been wrong.  He would demoralize her in every way he wanted.

“Look at me,” he asked just before she opened her mouth.  The instant their eyes met his expression changed.  “Get the fuck up.”

She didn’t understand.  She let go of him while he pulled her to her feet.  She had no idea what she had done.  Did he see the tears in her eyes?

He positioned himself and zipped his pants.  Opening the door he wouldn’t even look at her.  “Get out.”

Afraid to speak, she ran out.

He had completely misread her.  When she stared up at him she was scared, that he had expected, but what he didn’t expect was the robotic look on her face.  She was submissive in all ways but it wasn’t natural as he had thought. Someone had made her that way.

He slammed the door after she left. He knew better than to act the way he did.  He should have comforted her, assured her but what did he do? He sent her away.  She thought he was mad at her but that was the farthest thing from the truth.  He was mad at who ever had hurt her.

He had to try and repair what he had done but he knew calling for her wouldn’t make it right, not tonight anyway so he made the only decision he could and hoped she would accept him again but first he needed answers.  He needed to know who she was and where she had come from.

Turning off the light he headed to Caroline’s office.

“Is there a problem,” she asked as he walked in and started pacing in front of her desk.

“Tell me what you know about her?”

Leaning back in her chair she watched him while he tried to settle down.
Fuck
, he wanted to hit something.

“Ian, you know very well that I can’t discuss anything with you about her.”

He stopped dead in his tracks.  “Did you really just say that to me?”

Getting up to pour him a glass of liquor she motioned for him to sit as she offered him the glass.  Reluctantly he sat down.

“Perhaps we should start with why you are upset.”

He had to give it to Caroline, she could play the voice of reason like no other but he wasn’t leaving without answers.  “Someone has hurt her.  I want to know about her past, where she came from, how she ended up here.”

With her steel blue eyes she watched him for a few minutes before she finally spoke.  “You want me to reveal dark secrets or skeletons in her closest, but there aren’t any, at least not that I have been able to confirm.  I have my suspicions just like you but I can’t confirm anything.  She has never filed charges against anyone, she has no criminal record, not even a speeding ticket.”

“How did she end up here?”

“The same as the rest.  She needed the money.”

He rolled his eyes at her.  “Stop being evasive.  She didn’t just walk in the front door on her own.  Hartsen found her, his display of ownership tonight leaves no room for doubt.  Was she involved with him?”

She shook her head.  “No. According to him he found her in a bar in Cambridge.  Something happened and she couldn’t afford her tuition.  He overheard the conversation and gave her my card.”

“She goes to Harvard?”

“Yes, she is due to graduate from the MBA Program.  This is her last semester of school.”

Now, he was getting somewhere.  “Is that all you can tell me?”

She smiled.  “That’s all I am going to tell you.”

Standing he sat the glass on her desk.  “I suppose it’s a good thing I know the Dean then isn’t it?”

“I suppose it is,” she said turning back to her desk trying to hide her smile.

She knew he wouldn’t give up.  This was just her way of giving him enough information that she wouldn’t violate the rules.  Her husband would spank her ass if he found out otherwise.

“I want to pay her for the night. Don’t let her go back out on the floor.  I want her again but I think it would be best to give her a few days before she works again.  Let me know what day you schedule her for.  I want her in my room again, same time.”

She ran back to her room.  The tears fell effortlessly.  There was no need to try and control them.  It wasn’t possible.  She had no idea if being in her room would get her in trouble but she couldn’t go back out there.  She was a mess.

Sometime after the last of her tears dried, Caroline entered without knocking.  “Go home Nova.”

“I don’t understand what I did wrong?”

“I don’t know either but he isn’t happy.  Go home, I will call you tomorrow.”

The next morning she had no time to dwell on her sorrows from the night before.  She had class.  When she got back in the afternoon Caroline had left her a message to come back on her next scheduled work day which wasn’t until Monday.  Hopefully, this didn’t mean she was being fired.

She spent the better part of her weekend learning how to do her own eye makeup and how to look sexy.  She had to have the job or she was sunk.

Monday night she met Caroline behind closed doors.

“Nova, I still don’t know what you did but whatever it was please don’t do it again.”

She handed me a roll of hundred dollar bills.

“What is this for?”

“He paid for you for the remainder of your scheduled night last Thursday. This is your percentage.”

“Why would he pay for me after he ordered me to leave?”  She didn’t understand but somehow it softened her feelings about him again.

Caroline smiled.  “He has requested you again tonight.  You will not serve drinks this shift.  Be in his room at 7 sharp.”

Without another word, she closed the door.

I looked at the cash.  She had given me six, hundred dollar bills which meant he had paid $3000 for me and I barely touched him.

At 7 sharp, I knocked on his door.  He was sitting on the edge of the bed.  “Have a seat.”

I walked over to the armed wing chair and sat down.

“Let me first apologize for my behavior with you last week.”

She didn’t know what to make of him.  She certainly hadn’t expected an apology but somehow that was all she needed.

She watched him run his hands through his hair.  She could tell he was still upset but she wanted to make it right since he had made the effort himself.  “Please tell me what I did wrong sir.”

“What did you do to Hartsen to land yourself in here?”

I was completely taken aback by his question.  “I didn’t do anything to him.”

He huffed and stood up.  “Don’t lie to me. I want to know what he has on you.”

He wasn’t mad but he was close enough and what did this have to do with the other night.  “He doesn’t have anything on me.  I don’t even know him really.”

“Then how the hell did you end up in here under his mark?”

I had no idea what a mark was.  “I needed the money?”

“How much do you need?”

I looked at him oddly.  His Jekyll and Hyde routine had my head spinning in circles.  “I can’t disclose anything about myself to you.  Not on that level.”

“Do you owe him the money?”

His anger was starting to fade away.  If he didn’t look so genuinely concerned I wouldn’t have even considered telling him but for some reason I felt like I needed to say something. “No, I don’t owe him the money.  I don’t owe him anything.”

He looked relieved.  “What do you need the money for?”

This line of questioning wasn’t necessarily forbidden but it was frowned upon.  Taking a minute to think it over I decided ‘why not.’ “I’m in the MBA program at Harvard.  It’s my last semester.  I lost my college funding…unexpectedly.  I was going to have to drop out. I would lose the job offer. I was at a friend’s bar one night.  Hartsen overheard my conversation.  He gave me the card.  This job was my last hope of graduating on time.”

“Hope.”  He almost shouted at her.  “You have no idea the hell you entered when you took his card.  I suppose he didn’t tell you what he is into did he?”

She had no idea what he meant.  “What does this have to do with you being so angry with me the other night?”

“I thought you were a natural submissive.  When you looked up at me the other night I saw something in your eyes, something that concerns me.  You have never done anything like this before have you?”

I shook my head.

“I didn’t think so.  Do you swear Hartsen didn’t force you into this?”

“He has never touched me and I hope he never does but with the apparent hard on he has for me, I don’t think that is likely.”

“You don’t belong here.  Get your things and get the hell away from this place.”
