Freedom to Ride - Resolution (Raven's MC) (14 page)

Lee simply raised his eyebrows at Ethan who just stared back hard at him as neither of them said anything. Finally Lee moved his dead eyes from Ethan and looked back to Cameron.

“What do you want? I’m not telling you anything so it’ll be another wasted visit. How is my bitch baby mama?” Lee asked sneering, hating her and the little shit he would never acknowledge.

“Well, that’s another reason I’m here. Ethan here has arranged a solicitor and adoption papers. Would you be willing to sign over custody of your daughter?” Cameron asked Lee.

Nate and Ethan had decided privately after the club meeting to bring the adoption papers to see if Ethan and Cameron could persuade Lee to sign them. Nate had kept it a secret from Deanna, hoping that if all went well, it would be a surprise for her and the good news they all needed. If it didn’t go to plan, at least not knowing wouldn’t hurt her. Lee hadn’t responded to the solicitor’s previous letters and this was their last hope before starting difficult court procedures.

“Sign custody over to that Neanderthal who broke my nose? Unless the dirty slag has shacked up with someone else whilst I’ve been in here?” Lee smirked as Ethan scowled.

“Would you be willing to give your consent?” Cameron asked patiently again.

“Do you know what? When my solicitor first told me that the bitch and her fella wanted custody, I laughed my fucking head of. She thought I’d willingly sign over the brat. No, I wanted to scare her into believing that I actually wanted the kid. But the more I thought about it, the less I want to even think I spawned the little bitch,” Lee ended, disgust filling him to think he’d made a thing with that whore.

“Holly is an amazing, beautiful and bright child. Thank fuck she is nothing like you and everything like her amazing ma,” Ethan said losing his temper. He loved his niece and Deanna.

Cameron shook his head, knowing that Ethan wouldn’t have been able to keep his cool in front of the heartless bastard for long. Thankfully he’d had plenty of practice dealing with people like him.

“I don’t believe we were introduced properly. How do you know them so well?” Lee asked curiously, knowing he’d discovered the man’s weakness.

Ethan looked to Cameron who just shrugged his shoulders, clearly saying it didn’t matter if he knew who Ethan actually was.

“I’m Holly’s uncle,” Ethan said protectively.

“Eh?” Lee replied confused as he didn’t think the bitch had any family left. He’d made sure of that.

“You dumb fuck. Deanna is married to my brother.”

“She married the Hulk? Ha, good luck to him. He’d probably be able to knock her out with one punch when she needs it. I can’t think of another silly bitch more deserving of the brute.”

“My brother would never lay a hand on her. Nor would any decent man ever hurt a woman,” Ethan growled.

“Pussies, the lot of you,” Lee spat, his eyes coming alive with the madness hidden within.

“Anyway, we have a solicitor present, waiting outside. Will you willingly sign over all your rights for Holly?” Cameron asked for the last time.

Ethan waited, both he and Lee staring at each other full of hate, and he watched as Lee finally made his decision.

“Yeah, I will. I don’t want anything to do with that piece of shit. They’re welcome to her. She’s been nothing to me anyway. I just wished I’d kicked her out of the whore’s stomach, I’d have got rid of both of them if I had,” Lee snarled, his tongue sliding against his yellowed teeth.

Ethan was about to leap across the table at him, his usual cool facade gone with being faced with this monstrosity, and Ethan was glad Nate hadn’t come. If Ethan couldn’t keep calm then Nate stood no chance and would have murdered the cruel, senile fucker with his bare hands. Ethan couldn’t believe that Deanna had faced this man alone for months.

As Cameron felt the tension rising in Ethan he quickly turned and cautioned him, whispering for him to calm down. Breathing deeply, Ethan looked up and they both watched as Lee focused his gaze into a corner of the room and began muttering to himself under his breath.

Cameron gestured at the glass panel in the wall to his side, behind which he knew the solicitor and prison warden were watching proceedings. After a few seconds an older man in a smart suit entered the room carrying a briefcase which he placed on the desk and pulled out the relevant papers.

Lee moved his hands, the handcuffs clanging loudly on the table, as he gripped the pen handed to him and signed in all the areas marked with an X. When he finished he threw the pen down and sneered at Ethan, who looked steadily back at him.

Ethan had been holding his breath during the whole time, fearing a trick on Lee’s part, and was secretly thrilled for Deanna and Nate. Finally Holly was now an official member of the Gunn family. He couldn’t wait to tell everyone once he left this shithole. As Ethan thought of his family his mind drifted back to Fiona and he hoped that one day she might become a more permanent fixture in his life.

“Thank you Lee,” Cameron said politely as the solicitor gathered the papers, placed them in his briefcase and quietly left the room without saying a word to any of them.

“What now prick? I ain’t got anything else to say so I might as well go back to my cell. Do you know they’ve moved my roommate? Apparently I don’t play well with others,” Lee smirked and Cameron realised that Lee’s mood was changing and he needed him to stay sane a while longer so he could ask him the questions they’d come to ask.

“Lee, we actually need to speak to you about something else, if you’re willing to listen?” Cameron asked.

Lee just stared blankly back at him, simply waiting for him to continue.

“Recently there have been strange incidents occurring around Deanna. Would you know anything about them?” Cameron asked carefully.

A slow evil smile spread across Lee’s face as his eyes filled with his all-consuming frenzy.

“I bet the silly bitch thinks she’s going mad seeing me, ain’t she?” Lee said and then burst out laughing manically.

“Lee . . Lee . . ,” Cameron said over and over as he tried to get his attention, but Lee was laughing so hard he struggled to breathe and started to choke, spit running down his chin.

“You have no fucking idea who you’re up against. He’ll make her life a misery and then he’ll kill her. He isn’t like me, he won’t fail,” Lee cackled as pleasure filled him to know Deanna was being tortured and soon it would all end for her.

“Lee, listen to me . . ,” Cameron tried to get through to him but he could see that Lee had gone into his own crazy world.

Ethan stared in shock at Lee and he remained completely silent, not knowing how to handle the situation and thought it better to let Cameron deal with him.

“There was no need for me to sign those papers really. The bitch won’t be a mother for much longer,” Lee replied smugly, his body filled with the familiar burning fire that overtook him whenever he thought of revenge against the slag.

“Lee, who is this man you’re talking about?” Cameron tried to get through to him.

“You’ll find out soon enough. We’ve planned this for years. Fuck yes, I haven’t felt this good in a long time,” Lee said in a disturbingly sexual way as he tried to stand and the two guards rushed forwards to restrain him. The only way he’d ever been able to become aroused was through inflicting pain and Deanna had been the perfect recipient.

“Lee, sit down,” the larger guard ordered, but Lee wasn’t listening.

“Lee, who is the man?” Cameron asked loudly again, knowing that Lee was somehow involved and knew the assailant.

“Oh, fuck yes,” Lee said moaning as he was un-cuffed from the table and starting fighting with the guards as they dragged him across the floor towards the door.

“The bitch is going to die,” he sang happily and then moaned with pleasure as his cock hardened at the thought.

The Lee who had first entered the room had totally vanished before their eyes and they now stared into the face of a devil.

Ethan and Cameron watched in disgust as Lee’s pants slid down during the scuffle and he was trying to rub against the guards to pleasure himself, his erection for all to see as he was pulled forcibly from the room.

“Well, that was completely fucked up,” said Cameron.

Ethan simply nodded, unable to form any words as his gaze stayed focused on the open doorway, the screeches and shrieks of Lee slowly fading away.

CHAPTER 19

Ethan agreed with Cameron to meet up at Nate and Deanna’s house later, both needing to return to their own homes to shower and change. The stench of Lee had permeated their skin and clothes and they desperately needed to wash it off.

As Ethan pulled up outside the compound Nate saw him and rushed over. It was late afternoon and he was about to close up the garage but he urgently needed to know what had happened.

“Alright Ethan. So, how did it go?” Nate asked.

“Deanna’s ex is a fuckin’ nutter. I’m actually waiting on Cameron. We’ll both explain what happened. Is Deanna around? She needs to hear it too,” Ethan said and dread filled Nate’s stomach as he ran over towards the club office.

“Deanna, you nearly done? Ethan and Cameron need to talk to us,” he said and she looked up at him with tired eyes.

“Yeah, I’m finished and was about to switch everything off.”

“Give me a minute and I’ll ask Logan to close up.”

Deanna watched as Nate left, his anxious expression clearly showed that not everything had gone well for Ethan and Cameron.

She had just locked the office as Nate jogged over and they walked across to their home, Cameron’s car already parked in front of the house.

As they walked inside Holly ran over to them, wrapping her arms around their legs.

“Hello my gorgeous girl. Have you had a good time with Grandma?” Deanna asked, picking her up and cuddling her. Nate leaned across and kissed Holly before greeting Cameron.

“Alright mate. I take it that it didn’t go well?” he asked him nervously.

“Er . . ,” Cameron said as he glanced over and Deanna understood that he didn’t want to discuss it in front of Holly.

“Give her to me, hen, she needs a bath before bed anyway. I’ll sort her out,” Alice said as she took Holly and left the room, closing the door behind her.

“Can I get any of you a drink?” Deanna offered and went into the kitchen to get them some tea.

Carrying the cups, she walked back into the living room and handed the drinks out. Sitting beside Nate she held onto his hand, his gaze fixed on Cameron, as he waited for him to begin.

“Do you want the good news or the bad news?” Cameron asked, not too sure how to proceed.

“Bad news. At least there’ll be something to look forward to,” Deanna said without hesitation.

“Well, Lee is a completely fucked up individual. I won’t go into too much detail of what he did and said, but it was really disturbing,” Cameron started.

“Aye, he is one dirty bastard. I can’t believe you lived with him for months alone. I’m proud of you Deanna,” Ethan said, still horrified that she’d had to deal with him by herself.

Deanna smiled but was too nervous to reply.

“It appears that Lee does in fact know who the assailant is. When I mentioned that strange things had been happening, he immediately asked if you were seeing someone like him. He quickly descended into madness and there was no way of getting through to him. He warned us that we’d find out who the man is and that he’d come after you. We were unable to get any specific details before he was dragged out of the room. But at least we know he is somehow linked to this unknown man. All Ethan’s and my investigations have turned up nothing so we’ll have to arrange protection for you.”

“Like that worked out so well last time,” Nate said harshly, remembering the bodyguard that had been hired to protect Deanna when Lee was after her.

Gavyn had been knocked unconscious by Lee when he hadn’t been paying attention and later resigned from McKnights, ashamed of his inability to do his job properly.

“Nate, it wasn’t Gavyn’s fault. I hate that I have to have someone look after me all the time. I can’t put any more stress on either you, Ethan or the MC. It’s bloody ridiculous,” Deanna said.

“I’ll only trust my men to keep you safe. One of them will look after you when I can’t. Please Deanna,” Nate insisted when he saw Deanna was about to object.

“Jamie’s a good lad. He’s already proved himself and I bet he won’t mind,” Ethan offered.

“Good idea. I’ll ask him,” Nate replied.

“Wait. Nate, there’s more,” Ethan said as Nate was about to get up and leave.

“What?”

“There’s some good news,” Ethan said with a pointed look and Nate immediately understood.

“You mean . . ,” Nate trailed off, unbelieving of their luck.

“Aye, he signed.”

“Signed what?” Deanna asked confused as Ethan looked at Nate to explain.

“Deanna, me and Ethan decided he should take the adoption papers for Holly to try and get him to sign.”

“So . . Holly is officially yours now in every way?” she whispered, unexpected relief and happiness filling her.

“Holly’s all mine,” Nate said and Deanna wrapped her arms around him as they held each other tightly. This was something they’d been fighting for and had now finally achieved.
