Action plan
Our body’s first lines of defense against excess acidity are the minerals found in food. The aim is to eat a diet containing 80 percent alkalizing foods and 20 percent acid-forming foods. Most diets are the reverse of this.
EAT/DRINK
Vegetables, especially asparagus, sea vegetables, endive, parsley, watercress, carrots, celery.
Amaranth, millet, buckwheat, and quinoa—other grains are acid-forming.
Almonds, Brazil nuts, fresh coconut, and chestnuts.
Sprouted beans and seeds, fresh peas, and green beans.
Garlic.
Freshly squeezed vegetable juices.
AVOID
Red meat and processed meats, dairy products, and eggs.
Unsprouted beans and pulses.
