“I’m going back to the hotel.” He smiled. “Nice meeting you ladies. Guys, see you in the morning.” He opened the door and went out into the warm night air. It was balmy and he wished Sam was here with him. There were too many temptations in his way here. And he wasn’t sure how long he’d last without somehow giving in to one of them.

Chapter Thirty One

The tour was a great success and every show was a sellout. Jay was delighted to be home. He missed Sam and Jaime and although he was happy playing in front of live audiences; he wanted to try and kick start his career on TV.

He hadn’t mentioned it to any of the guys yet. But he was in talks with a few stations about getting together a show. As soon as anything was decided, or he was close to being offered something, then he would tell the guys.

He loved the band. Music was his life but he felt he was getting too old for all the touring that they were doing. And now with Jaime he didn’t want to waste any more time on tour than he had to.

Sam was down at the gallery. She had been there all day yesterday and the day before. In fact, he had seen very little of her since he came home. Jay knew that she was very independent and that her making a success of the gallery was very important to her. He just felt a little neglected.

Juanita had taken Jaime to the park, so he was alone in the house. Jay decided to go for a swim and then relax in the hot tub.

As he lay back in the tub with his eyes closed. He had been working so hard recently, that he didn’t have a chance to think, let alone focus on the crazy events of the last couple of months. He had nearly cheated on Sam with Lisa. Betrayed the woman he loved and his best friend.

A smile crossed his face as he thought of how it might have been if he had banged Lisa. He still found her damn hot and he knew she was attracted to him. It might have been interesting.

His phone rang. He looked at the number and decided not to answer it. For the first time since he came back from the tour he was having a quiet time; just for himself.

An hour or so later, he came out of the shower and dressed in jeans. He had no shirt on. Jay went to the cooler on the verandah and took out a coke. Tore off the ring and took a long swig from the can. The ice cold liquid was welcome. It was a warm day and he was feeling hot and restless. He knew Nick was with Lisa somewhere so there was no point in calling over and shooting some pool. Sam was still at the gallery. She wouldn’t be back for another few hours at least. He thought about going over there but, he didn’t want to be in the way. Besides, Jay knew that Sam wouldn’t want the publicity of him there just yet. He smiled at the way she hid from the press; she couldn’t understand why they had such an interest in her.

As he threw the can in the bin, he heard a low whistle. He turned around and saw Lisa standing in the doorway.

“Now there’s a vision.” Jay laughed. She was wearing a short dress and sandals. Her eyes were hidden behind her oversized dark glasses. Lisa was settling in to the LA life very well.

“Where’s Nick?” He asked cautiously. She laughed and said seductively.

“Your virginity is safe,” she licked her lips and came out onto the verandah. “He’s parking the car.” Jay laughed as she passed so close to him her arm brushed against his bare stomach. He went over to the cooler and took out a can and handed it to her. She touched his fingers with hers, lingering just long enough to have effect.

“You don’t give up do you Li?” He asked, smiling at her.

“Not when it’s something that I really want.” Just then Nick came in and Jay threw him a can of beer.

“Hey man!” They gave each other a hi-five. Nick lay down on the sun lounger and Lisa sat on the wicker sofa beside Jay. She was asking about Sam.

“She’s busy at the gallery. Hardly see her these days.” Jay laughed. “Saw more of her when she was in London.”  A feint smile crossed Lisa’s lips.

“Dude, she’s a workaholic...just like you.” Nick chipped in. Jay laughed and asked if they wanted something to eat.

He went into the kitchen and was fixing a salad. As he took down some plates, Lisa came in. She took out some cutlery from the drawer and deliberately pressed past him. He laughed as she put her hands on his hips and pushed against him.

“You like playing with danger.” He said. She laughed as her hand touched his bare skin.

“Jay, I know you want me.” She whispered. “Question is how long will it take you to take me?” She moved away and put some glasses on the table.

A few minutes later, Sam arrived home and came into the kitchen. She smiled at them and went to put her briefcase in the closet in the hall.

Juanita met her with Jaime and she gave her a cuddle before the nanny took her to have her bath. She waved at her infant daughter as she turned to go back to the kitchen.

Nick and Lisa were sitting at the table and Jay was cooking some stir-fry. He looked damn good just wearing his jeans.

As they all sat down, Jay came over with two serving bowls of noodles and stir-fry. Nick poured white wine for Lisa and Sam. Looking at Jay, who smiled and motioned that he had a glass of water.

They talked about the gallery for a while and Sam told them she was right on target for the big opening in less than two weeks. She rested her hand on Jay’s knee. She felt guilty for neglecting him since he came off tour. Lisa was asking who she had invited for the opening.

“Oh, I invited just some local TV station and a few art dealers.” She smiled and looked at Jay. She would take care of him tonight.

“One of the advantages of having a rock star boyfriend is you get lots of interest!” Jay said as he covered her hand. They all laughed.

Outside on the verandah, Sam sat on the sofa, a glass of wine in her hand. She was looking at the sun going down. It was a mixture of different shades of pink, ranging from a deep shade of fuchsia to baby pink with just a hint of rose. It always amazed her, how stunning a palette of
colours
the night sky had here.

Jay joined her on the sofa and put his arm around her. Automatically she laid her head on his shoulder. Curling her legs under her, she traced little circles on his chest. She could smell his aftershave mixed with the smell of cooking from earlier. Sam loved his smell. Smiling at her he asked:

“What is it?” She looked up at him and laughed.

“What!” He kissed her head. He adored her. And he admired her for her independence. She insisted on being her own person. Unlike Lisa, whom he knew was using Nick for his status and his money. But then Nick too, was using her. She was a permanent groupie for him.

Thinking of her, Jay wondered if he should bang her. He’d been having these crazy thoughts since she joined them on tour in Miami. Sure he had had more than a good few chances with some of the girls at the shows but when Lisa showed up something stirred in him that he was reminded of, the last time he had been alone with her in London.

Since he had met Sam, he stopped carrying condoms and that day in Lisa’s apartment, if he had had one on him, he would have fucked her, Jay knew that.

Sam sat up and stretched her arms out. Looking at her, he smiled approvingly. She had gotten her figure back and she was looking very sexy with her long tanned legs; her slender body and her long dark auburn hair.

He wanted to have her legs wrapped around his waist as he did her against the wall. Sex between them was incredible. She drove him wild and made him want more. Jay couldn’t get enough of her. Yet, he was lusting after her friend. A smile on his face made her look at him quizzically.

“Babe, I was just thinking of how I made love to you the first time over there.” He pointed over to the hot tub. She blushed. She remembered too well that night. It was the night she first told him she loved him.

“What made you think of that night?” She teased. He stood up and took her hand. They walked into the house.

“Because, tonight I am going to make love to you just like that night.” He squeezed her hand gently and she giggled.

The early morning light flooded the room with soft opaque hues. Sam lay sleeping beside him. She was naked save for the crisp white sheet softly clinging to her curvaceous body. Her hair was disheveled but it just made her look even sexier than usual.

Jay watched her as she slept. They had made love for hours. She had given herself completely to him and hungered for him. They had shown each other how much they loved and craved each other. Then for a moment in time, when their hearts stopped they were joined completely as one being, in the moment of orgasm.

Jay threw back the sheet and got out of bed silently. He put on his jeans and went downstairs.

As he drank some juice a familiar craving started to develop in his mind. He took the glass out on to the verandah and walked down the steps to the garden. The grass felt slightly rough under his feet. It was getting scorched from the sun. But at least it helped him to focus on something other than this morbid desire to get high. He was struggling with it but so far, like his desire to bang Lisa, he hadn’t given in to either.

Jay felt Sam’s arms go around him. He turned around and kissed her. She smiled.

“Are you ok Jay?” She was concerned; he seemed out of sorts since he came home. He pulled her closer.

“Darlin, I’m fine. Just need some time to recover.” He laughed as they walked back to the house wrapped around each other.

Over breakfast, they talked about the forthcoming show. A smile crossed her face as she remembered meeting him for the first time. Sensing her thoughts, he said:

“I remember the first time I saw you.” He winked at her. She blushed. “I thought I was dreaming when you walked over to us.” She laughed. Her impression of him wasn’t exactly pure thoughts either.

“Sam, I love you so much.” She leaned over and kissed him passionately. Last night had been so good. They were so close, joined as one in the act of lovemaking.

“I don’t have to go down to the gallery today.” Sam said as he entwined his fingers with hers.

“Darlin, you go and I’ll take you to lunch.” He kissed her hand. “If you can tear yourself away from the handymen; and come out with your rock star boyfriend!” She laughed and went to have a shower.

When she dressed and came down stairs, Jaime was in his arms cooing up at him. She was exploring his face with her tiny hand. Sam smiled at the scene before her. As she came into the room he turned around and said:

“Doesn’t mommy look hot, Jaime?” She laughed and went over to both of them. She kissed her daughter’s head. Looking up into Jay’s piercing blue eyes. Sam kissed him on the mouth. His tongue parting her lips gently. With his arm going around her waist; they walked with Sam to the car. Again she kissed them both. She felt so lucky.

“See you at lunch, Rock star!” He laughed as he closed the door for her. Watching her drive down the driveway, Jay smiled at his daughter and said:

“You and me angel, what do you want to do?” Jaime gurgled and cooed as he smiled and cooed back at her.
