Haven 1: How to Save a Life (42 page)

Kevin nodded. When it was clear Walter wasn’t going to look up at him, he added, “Yes.” Kevin had given his statement to the police, but he’d been alone with them then. He wasn’t sure he could say it to Walter. Not now, not with the way Walter touched him.

“Something…” Walter paused, his hands now motionless on Kevin’s hips like he’d been frozen in place, yet his touch was still tender, gentle. “Something different than how he touched you at the Haven the night he took Dylan?”

“Yes.”

Walter finally looked up at Kevin. “Where?”

Kevin lifted a finger to his lips. “With his mouth. Just once.”

Walter stared at Kevin’s lips. “Anywhere else?”

“No.”

“I’m sorry.” He raised a hand and caressed Kevin’s lips with a wet thumb. “I’m sorry he did that to you.”

“He did worse to Dylan and Seth and the others.”

“Never again.”

Prescott was under armed guard in the hospital and would be heading to jail in the morning. At the very least he’d be spending his remaining days in a prison cell for multiple counts of kidnapping, assault, and rape. He’d likely get worse for the murder of a cop, even a crooked cop like Henderson.

The steady pulse of the water against Kevin’s back did little to warm him when compared to that one touch where Walter kept caressing Kevin’s lips with the pad of his thumb.

Bruises and cuts circled the wrist on that hand. Kevin had gotten a glimpse of Walter’s injuries at the police station but hadn’t had a chance to really get a good look. He brushed his fingers over the inside of that wrist. He reached for Walter’s other arm and lightly kissed one wrist, then the other. “Do they hurt?”

“No.” The even tone of that one word made it sound like Walter didn’t feel anything. But that couldn’t be true.

Then Walter met Kevin’s stare.

In that moment everything was clear. It wasn’t that Walter didn’t feel anything. He was feeling more than ever. He looked like a man who had things to say but wasn’t sure how or where to start.

Instead he stepped forward, moving them as one against the shower wall, their warm, wet bodies pressing together, their mouths joining in a long, drawn-out kiss. Walter traced a line with his lips and tongue down Kevin’s neck, the lightest of contact, as he tasted and explored and made his way back up to Kevin’s ear. Walter sucked in a deep breath, and the embrace turned fierce, like he wasn’t sure he could ever let go. He whispered, “I never thought I’d be here.”

“Where?”

Walter threaded a hand through the wet strands at the back of Kevin’s hair. “More afraid of losing someone than I’ve ever been. Wanting and needing someone more than…anyone.”

Kevin kept his arms wrapped around Walter, sweeping his palms over the damp skin of his back and broad shoulders, desperately needing to comfort and not wanting to face why. Or maybe he did. Maybe he’d been waiting for this moment all his life. “I’m okay. I’m not going anywhere.”

The next kiss wasn’t a rush of lust or a building to something more. It was a slow, tender stripping away of the last walls between them.

Walter slid to his knees and buried his face in Kevin’s chest. He caressed Kevin along his sides, the touch nowhere near sexual. Tender. Loving. One soft kiss after another to his chest and abs.

Kevin laid a palm over the back of Walter’s head, needing to touch him too, needing to connect with him in a way they hadn’t done yet.

Walter drew back and stared up at him, a more vulnerable expression on that strong face than he’d had the night they’d seen Seth in the hospital. “You ever do anything like that again—”

”I won’t. I promise.”

Walter smiled. It was the best smile. Full of relief and admiration and…maybe something more. Then the smile morphed into a laugh. “Don’t make promises you can’t keep. You attract weirdos.”

Kevin laughed with him.

When the laughter died off, the rhythmic beat of the water on the shower floor and tiled walls filled the air, surrounded them. Like an unexpected downpour in autumn, washing away the dry heat of summer. They both sobered as they held the intense stare between them.

It was official. Kevin was done avoiding, done hiding, done pretending this thing between them didn’t mean everything.

He tried to repeat those three words he’d whispered in that hotel room. To somehow say more.

He couldn’t.

Maybe having a psycho for an audience the first time he’d said them was more helpful than it sounded.

Or was he afraid? Protecting his heart because he’d known Matthew had been right when he’d said Walter would eventually push him away?

No, after everything they’d been through, Walter wouldn’t do that. Not now.

Kevin swallowed and said, “Take me to bed.”

“I do love the things you say.” Walter stood and shut off the water. “Don’t suppose I could get you to stay there for about a week. Or more.” He smirked, this smile more playful. He could make light of the moment all he wanted. Kevin knew the truth. Walter needed reassurances. They both did.

“I’m okay, Walter.” Kevin reached up and held Walter’s face in his hands. “And I’m not going anywhere.”

Walter searched his eyes. “Prove it.” He backed Kevin to the shower wall, this time with more force and passion behind the action. He kissed Kevin. “Fuck me.” Another kiss. “I want to feel you like I haven’t had a chance to yet.” A longer, deeper kiss.

When the kiss ended, Kevin stood motionless as Walter’s words sank in.

Fuck me.

Kevin whipped the shower door open and, without drying off, got them moving down the hall toward the bedroom.

He’d never really pictured what it would be like to fuck Walter. He’d been so wrapped up in every wonderful thing they’d done, every sensation he’d been denying himself for too long. Now that the words were out there, now that it was on the table, he wanted nothing more than to sink into him, to take pleasure from being inside Walter’s body.

During the ten seconds it had taken them to get to the bed, he’d become obsessed with it.

Walter folded the blankets back and opened the nightstand drawer. “Just go slow at first, okay? It’s been a while.” He tossed a tube of lube and a condom by the pillows, then got on the bed.

All Kevin managed was a nod. He mimicked Walter’s actions until they lay facing each other.

“But just slow in the beginning,” Walter added. “Then fuck the hell out of me, okay?” He pulled Kevin on top of him and spread his own thighs wide. “Like this. I want to see you.”

“Okay.” Kevin really needed to learn to say sexier shit in bed, but with the words Walter was using, he was lucky he wasn’t speechless.

He settled on his knees between Walter’s legs. He would’ve expected to feel self-conscious, like he just knew he’d end up doing his usual completely awkward thing and fuck this all up, but he didn’t feel that way at all. A confidence Kevin had never known when it came to his body surged through him. He leaned over Walter and kissed him. He couldn’t stop with that kiss. He gave another. And another. He grazed his lips along Walter’s chin, down over his neck, then lower, taking in the faint scent of the soap and something stronger underneath, something very Walter. Kevin added his tongue, taking a taste, relishing every touch of his mouth to the warm skin, and at the same time savoring the caress of Walter’s hands on his body.

When Kevin reached Walter’s cock, he began to reconsider the fucking thing in favor of taking that gorgeous dick into his mouth and sucking until he had Walter writhing underneath him, until he could swallow every last drop of his release. Then inspiration hit. Kevin lifted Walter’s legs and ass until he had him positioned just right. He licked and teased his sac, then drew his tongue farther back between those firm ass cheeks, loving the rapid shudder that worked through Walter’s body as Kevin swirled his tongue around and over that one spot.

“Kevin. Don’t stop.”

Nope. This wasn’t about to stop. Not tonight when they came, not tomorrow night, not next week. No matter why he’d gone to the Haven, Kevin had found something special there, and he had no intention of letting go.

The distinct slap of a hand moving over flesh filled the room as Walter stroked himself while Kevin rimmed his ass.

With that sound, with the way Walter panted and groaned, the powerful need to fuck him slammed into Kevin again.

“Stop.” He sat up and grasped the base of Walter’s dick. “Don’t come yet.” Kevin grabbed the condom and opened the package.

“Hurry.” Walter got his hands in on the action. They shook as he clasped the condom and slid it on Kevin’s cock, his fingers slipping in the process and his movements looking as uncoordinated as Kevin imagined his own actions usually did. The condom on, Walter collapsed back to the bed and raised his legs over Kevin’s forearms. “Now, Kevin.”

That had Kevin chuckling. “I thought you wanted to take this slow.”

“Don’t tease. Need to feel you.” Walter made eye contact. “Need to really feel you.”

Kevin nodded. He got the lube and squirted some on his cock. He spread more over Walter, unable to take his eyes off that part of Walter’s body where they were about to be joined. He lined up and pressed the tip of his dick inside.

Walter arched his back. “Oh fuck.”

Was that a good curse? Kevin stilled. Or was he already doing something wrong?

“Damn.” Walter reached under his leg and gripped Kevin’s thigh. “That feels good. God, I’ve missed this.”

How long had “a while” been?

Kevin released the breath he’d been holding. He braced himself over Walter. The pressure around the head of his cock had every muscle in Kevin’s body focused on the intense urge to thrust into the heat of Walter. He waited, looked for any sign this wasn’t what Walter wanted. Kevin’s arms shook as he held himself up. He couldn’t stay still much longer.

Slowly, as carefully as he could manage while feeling that beautiful heat slide down his cock, he rocked his hips until his length was buried inside Walter’s body.

Walter clasped the top edge of the headboard in both hands. Kevin stilled again, waited.

“Yes,” Walter groaned out. He lifted his head. The lust-filled expression shifted to something softer, more intimate. This was about much more than having Kevin’s dick up his ass. Walter cupped Kevin’s head and brought him forward for a long, luxurious kiss, like they had all the time in the world to wait on the rest. No one would guess that moments earlier Walter had been about to come. Or maybe they would, because when the kiss ended, Walter kept ahold of him and said, “Fuck me, Kevin. Now.” Then he let go and dropped back to the bed.

So much for taking this slow. Kevin pulled back and drove forward, letting his body take over. The friction and heat around his cock had him moving faster and faster, his hips slamming forward harder with every second.

Walter was clutching both of Kevin’s thighs now, pulling Kevin forward with each thrust.

Kevin rose onto his hands and toes and pumped into him with a crazy need to make this a moment Walter would never forget. Kevin let himself fall into the sensations, giving himself over to it—to Walter.

The pleasure spiked; electric currents of sensation shot through Kevin. He grunted and moaned, unable to stop the urgent, desperate rhythm of his voice or his body.

The last of his release shot from him, and he fell forward onto Walter. “Oh. My. God. I want to do that again.”

Walter huffed out a laugh. “Must be nice to be in your twenties.”

“Thirties.”

“Not yet. On your back.”

Kevin disposed of the condom and rolled onto the bed.

Walter moved to straddle his hips. The brush of their bare legs and Walter’s ass against his thighs sent a surge of excitement thundering throughout Kevin’s body. After what they’d just done, how could that simple touch mean so much?

“So you liked that?” Walter asked. His cock was still hard, moist at the tip.

“Uh, duh.” Kevin grasped the hard flesh in his hand. He expected Walter to thrust into the touch until he came. He didn’t. His breathing picked up as Kevin stroked him, but Walter held still, keeping his gaze locked on where he caressed Kevin’s chest, like he couldn’t get enough of the touching.

So Kevin did the same. He reveled in the contact. The pleasure of being with a man—with Walter—was beyond what Kevin had ever imagined.

And it wasn’t merely his own release. Nothing matched the surge of power and exhilaration he got from making Walter come.

Kevin grabbed the lube and slicked his hand. He grasped Walter’s cock again and stroked him faster, with more promise and passion.

Walter threw his head back and moved with him. He looked…alive like never before.

Several more strokes and Walter surged forward, making eye contact with Kevin as the spasms of release overtook him. “Kevin.” He never looked away as his cum splashed onto Kevin’s chest.

When Walter’s body stilled, he lazily dragged his fingers through his release, brushing his cum over and around Kevin’s nipples. Then he dropped to the bed next to Kevin. “Fuck. That was… Fuck.”

Kevin rolled onto an elbow and propped his head in his hand. “You’re cursing again.”

“You’re a bad influence.” Walter sat up in a rush, pushed Kevin back to the bed, and leaned over him. “And I’m not sorry about any of it.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

That one word, along with everything that had happened since they’d left the police station—every touch, every look, every word—told Kevin all he needed to know.

Walter wanted this to work as much as he did.

* * * *

The bed shifted beside Walter. He wasn’t ready to get up. He could sleep for another two days. If it weren’t for the feather-soft touches tickling his ass.

“That better be you, Kevin.”

A laugh poured out from behind him. “Who else would it be?”

“Charlie has this bad habit of thinking this bed is his.”

“We haven’t picked him up yet. Thought we could do that today.”

Walter rolled to his back and stretched. When he opened his eyes, Kevin was leaning over him, a goofy grin plastered on his face. Being the top in bed agreed with him. He looked ready for more. “Round two?” Walter asked.
