"Uhh, I don't know what you are talking about.
Why would I have any reason to even come near you, let alone be a peeping
tom?  Please!  I am more dignified than that, I am a Southern
Belle." She even had the face to go with the tone and I was pleased to be
knocking this bitch off her pedestal.

"Oh really, so that wasn't you last night in my woods
watching me and Jace make out on the porch.  Hmm, what other jealous
ex-girlfriend does he have that's psychotic?"  I really was trying to
keep my magic and powers reined it, but it was getting harder to do that by the
second.

"You have really lost your mind new girl.  I don't
give a damn what Jace does anymore.  You are so pathetic in your attempt
to win him.  Spouting all these lies about me being a peeping tom is just
plain ridiculous."

Then the bitch had the nerve to cock her hips out and put
her hands on them like I was the freshmen geek and she was senior queen.
Yeah senior queen bitch whose about to get knocked on her ass.

"I'm not spouting lies about you being a peeping
tom.  I'm telling you and everyone listening that I know it was you who
watched Jace and I and then took it a sadistic step further and sacrificed a
poor cat on my door and left me a message in blood.  Now I don't know
anyone else here who is so desperate to get Jace back other than you.  And
as for me being pathetic, I don't have to do anything to win him over, you
pretty much just handed him to me on an effing gold platter.  And I'm
quite certain that you just sealed your fate with him forever by completely
pushing him away.  Oh, I also brought you what I could scrape up of the
cat, hope you can live with that."  I then threw a cup of pigs’ blood
with bits and pieces of its heart and entrails in her face.

The scream that came out of her mouth rivaled my demon alarm
on my property, that's how freaking loud she screamed.

I didn't feel it was necessary to tell her I stopped by the
butchers on my way over and got this from him.  He was slaughtering a pig
for food, so I just asked to have the scraps, I told him it was for my bitch
who was in heat and was in need of some extra protein.  Technically I
really wasn't lying; she is a bitch in heat.

"YOU BITCH!  You will…" she started to say,
but I stepped in close to her and talked only so she could hear me and my tone
said everything.

"No, you will listen to me.  I told you not to
mess with me.  I gave you one warning and now there are no more
warnings.  You are on my shit list and karma is always on my side, she
will be seeking you out now.  I make good on my promises and I promise
you, you mess with Jace or me again, I will see you dead.  Do you
understand that?" I didn't give her a chance to answer or say anything
else.  My point was made and I'll be damned if she didn't smell like she
just peed all over herself.

I smiled to myself, very pleased.  I had stood up to a
human, in well never and I have to admit that felt pretty damn good.  No
wonder all these chicks spouted off shit all the time, but lucky for me I do
have karma on my side and she looks out for me.

I drove home and was feeling all kinds of giddy, that was
until I pulled up and found Jaces' truck in my driveway.  Oh he was not
going to be pleased with my actions.  I had just done something dark and
horrible.  Oh my god, what had I just done?  I gave in to my dark
side and now I felt like shit, hells bells.  Karma is going to be so
pissed at me, because I had let the dark side take over for me to do that and
she is not going to be on my side about this.  Ugh, I felt sick, sick of myself.

I went in and found Jace on the couch with a notebook and
journals lying around.  He was making notes of everything he was
reading.  Geez, he was like Sam Winchester, the demon hunter who
researches everything, great but so damn annoying.

"Hey, I've found out some very interesting things, come
sit." He patted the couch and I couldn't help but just sit and listen,
because I was still in shock.

"Ok so my mom recorded all of her visions and as far as
I can tell these first four journals everything has happened.  I need you
to do the spell again with these other three; they are next in line according
to the symbols on the corners." He handed me a journal and pointed to the
corner.

"Ok, give me your finger." I wasn't going to argue
or say anything else, because I was not in the mood to talk, I was more afraid
if I started talking I would spill everything and I was not ready to admit out
loud to someone else what I had done.

I pricked his finger and dropped the blood on the cover and
then did the same with mine.  The journals opened with ease and I was in
awe and frustration that both of our moms had worked together to create these
journals.

"So do you think she had some visions that could help
us with the upcoming battles?" I asked thinking back to her visit with my
mom.

"Yes, I do actually.  I mean she told your mom
that you would meet a boy who would help you save the world and that was 10
years ago.  I figure if she had that vision then she must have had others
that could be helpful and I can only hope that she recorded them for me to
uncover." Then he stuck his head back in a journal and started reading and
taking notes.

I would tell him later what I had done; right now I had to
come to terms with it myself.

"I think I'm going for a walk.  You read and let
me know what you found when I get back, k." I stood to leave but he
grabbed hold of my hand.

"Katilyn, you ok?  You seem off." Now he
wanted to talk about me.

"Me, yeah I'm fine.  Just still a little shook up
about this morning.  I just need some air and a connection to the earth to
settle my mind.  I'll be fine and you are completely safe here.  Just
read and see what you can find, maybe she left us the battle plan that we are
missing." I smiled as best I could and then left the house.

I had walked for over two hours away from the house, two
hours at a normal human pace.  Boy was I out of my sorts.  At least
if I wanted to get back in a hurry I could make that two hours only 30 minutes.

I was well out of my wards, but I didn't really care.
It's not like I was always protected when I went out.  I sometimes didn't
and wouldn't ward myself, if a demon really wanted to come after me; I wanted
him to encounter the real deal.

I sat down on a broken log and sorted through my
feelings.  I had always believed that I would never give in to the
darkness, especially over petty stuff.  But this human crap really got
under my skin.  I guess I could see now why humans were such easy targets
for demons and their trickery.  There were so many emotions involved and
so many different things that humans wanted to have done or given to them.

The fear that I kept at bay about not being strong enough to
fight off the full demon powers now completely overwhelmed me.  I was
stricken with a fear that I kept closed off so that I wouldn't perish on a
daily basis.

"What am I going to do?  How do I fight off the
darkness?" I asked out loud to nature in hopes that either she could help
me or my mothers' spirit could help me.

"Everything is all wrong.  I'm alone and now
making myself dependent on the visions of a new prophet who doesn't even know
what half his visions mean.  He keeps checking them with me to try and
understand them and that should not happen.  PLEASE, send me some
help.  I need and I want my witch nature to stay in control and I'm going
to need more help than Jace can give me."  I dug my hands in the dirt
and listened with all my heart for any answers that might be given to me.

NOTHING! For thirty minutes I got nothing is response to my
plea.  That was it; I brushed my hands off and headed home.  I would
go at normal speed, without any answers to myself, I was not in the mood to see
or talk to Jace.

After about 30 minutes of walking I got the tingling feeling
that I was being followed and by a dark creature no less.

I opened all of my senses, letting everything wash over
me.  The smells, the sounds, even the pressure in the air would let me
know what kind of dark creature was following me.  I also started touching
trees and leaves as I walked talking to them in my touch asking them to assist
me, give me some sense of who was following me.

I could feel something about 50 feet out to my left, it was
tracking me.  Whatever it was it was big, no little minion, the power
radiating off him was suffocating.

"The hell with it" I muttered out loud.  I
couldn't very well just lead it straight back to the house where Jace
was.  The fewer creatures that knew about him the better.

I stopped and turned to the left, the direction the creature
was in.  It was strong, but Damnit I was stronger.  Whatever it was
it didn't have any magic, so that was a bonus.

"You might as well show yourself.  I know you're
there and I'm in no mood for hide and seek." I yelled into the woods.

I heard the rustling of leaves and the sound of branches
breaking under stress.  Then I heard the same noise coming from the
direction that I was going, from the direction of the house.  Hells Bells!

"There are two of you.  Well come on then, there's
no sense in trying to surprise me, I'm not your typical human or demon
hunter.  So come out and face me you pansy ass cowards!" I yelled
again, becoming angry and calling on my witch power.  These stupid
creatures were thinking they were going to play with me, in a way I felt bad
for the worthless, pathetic souls who thought I was going to be an easy meal.

"We know who you are, Miss Katilyn Wesson.  We
know you are the hybrid demon witch who is being hunted by her father
Lucifer.  We have heard many stories of you and what you are capable of
and we come in peace, offering our assistance.  We mean you no harm and
ask the same in return from you." The deep voice spoke from very close in
front of me, but he was hidden very well behind the trees.

I stopped and thought about what he said.  This could
be a trick, a new and stealthy trick I might add.  I heard the one behind
me move closer again, with the sound of his footfalls he was a light weight,
probably 140 to 150 pounds, but very agile.  I took a deep breath and
smelled the air!

"Since when do werewolves support the princess and not
the darkness?  You are a creature of the dark, are you not?  And all
the werewolves I have ever encountered have only ever tried to kill or capture
me, why are you any different?" I asked with no sarcasm or disbelief, I
merely sought the truth.

"Well if you know that we are werewolves, then the
stories have been correct.  You do have a heightened sense of smell."
The voice stepped from behind the tree and a massive man stood before me.

He was tall and built like a brick wall.  He was well
over 6 feet tall and he had to weigh about 200 pounds maybe more, and it was
all solid muscle.  Before me was a good looking man, dark skinned and
green eyes, the green eyes looked kind and forgiving.  If this was a trick
it would take a lot of my magic to take him out and that was something that I
was not looking forward to.  For all sense and practicality, I normally
did try and not fight creatures this big, my vitality was more important than
sending him to hell.

"Apparently the rumors are true.  Now if what you
are saying is true, I offer you no harm as long as you tell your young one to
come up front from my left side.  I will have no problem giving you an
audience as long as both of you are in front of me and I don't have to watch my
back at the same time." I turned my head just enough to get a better view
in my peripheral.

I saw a young man; early twenties come and stand by the
man.  He was of the same build, just more agile and lanky.  He was
only a few inches taller than me, and like I had guessed 150ish pounds.
After taking him in I saw he had the same features as the man, and his eyes
were the exact shade of green.  The only difference in the eyes, where the
old mans' eyes held kindness and understanding, the young mans' held hardness
and a coldness that I so often saw in dark creatures.   Around this
young creature, I would keep my guard up.

Chapter 10
--Answers, more questions, and new guests

"Alright, so why do you seek an audience with me?"
I asked loud and steady, keeping my eyes on both of them.

"My name is Adolphe Sandalio and this is my son
Phelan.  I am the Alpha of a pack in South Florida.  Our pack is a
peaceful pack and we have long since banned the dark ways from our pack.
I wish to keep my peace in my tribe and with the village we live nearby.
To keep that peace and tranquility we have to work to protect and help you in
the battles that are coming your way." Chief Sandalio turned his hands
palm up as a sort of peace offering, meaning that he meant me no harm and only
sought to help me.

"Ok, Chief Sandalio, I'm listening.  How do you
and your pack plan to help me?  And the bigger question is how did you
even find me, when many higher level demons just can't seem to even trace down
an old hairbrush?" I was extremely curious of this little tidbit of
information.

"I will answer your second question first as I assume
it is the one that is bothering you the most.  When we renounced darkness
and all of its ways over 50 years ago, mother earth accepted up back into her
folds.  We are allowed to use her elements as long as we do right by her
and stay on the path of light.  Although we do not possess any magic of
any kind, we have discovered many different ways of manipulating the elements
in a way that do not harm earth.  We also have a seer in our pack that has
seen many things and some of the more recent things she has seen involve
you.  She saw where you were and sent us here to find and talk to
you." The Chief told me truthfully, he was completely honest and I had no
choice but to trust him.
