For now I got up and made sandwiches, in silence.  Jace
just followed the pace I set and cut up the tomatoes and lettuce, and then he
poured us glasses of tea.  As we sat down to eat he finally decided to
break the long silence.

"So have you decided to become a mute or something, or
just not speak to me?" he asked in a joking manner, but I could hear the
hurt in his voice.

"I went to town today and stopped by the butchers
shop.  I got some pig entrails, a heart and some of the blood then I
confronted Elsie about the cat she sacrificed.  After telling her to leave
me and you alone or die, I then threw the pig blood and guts in her face.
So now she will retaliate in a way I have never seen a human do before or she
will actually leave me and in return leave you alone now too."  I
said this as casually as I could; I didn't want to hear his reaction.
This was something horrible that I did and I was not proud of it.

Jace just sat there silent with his mouth open a very
stunned look on his face.

"You know if you don't shut that soon, flies will fly
in there and lay their eggs." I said just as casually as I did when I told
him what I did.

"I'm sorry did I hear you correctly?  You threw
pig guts and blood on Elsie and promised to kill her if she didn't leave you
alone." He asked in a shocked whisper.

"Yep" was all I said as I continued to eat.

"Sweet kittens, I think I love you.  I have wanted
to humiliate her for ages and you did more than that, you decimated her
pride!" Jace jumped from the table and danced around it like a full blown
idiot.

I was suddenly sick feeling.  I really hoped he was
joking about his "I love you" statement and on top of that he was
deliriously happy about what I had done.  I pushed my plate away and got
up.

The mistake that I made was actually getting up from the
table, because Jace rushed around the table and wrapped me in his arms in a
tight hug and then proceeded to land a hot wet kiss right on my lips.
Although the kiss did feel nice, it had lost its feeling of making me jittery.

I didn't get that rush of adrenaline like I had the last
time; the only thing I did feel was his intense heat because he was a prophet.

I slowly pushed him away, not wanting to be too rude.

"Jace you need to control yourself.  You cannot
invade my or anyone else's personal space like that, and you definitely cannot
just up and kiss me like that whenever you feel the need to." I reached
around him and got my plate to take to the sink.

Between my emotions about Elsie, the wolves, his mom, my
mom, and his lack of personal boundaries my nerves were fried.  I had to
get to my room and calm myself down.

"Look I'm glad that you are happy I put her in her
place, me I'm not as thrilled with my actions, but there is nothing to be done
about it now.  I'm emotionally exhausted, I'm going up to bed; you can
crash here on the couch if you don't want to drive home.  Goodnight
Jace." I waved goodnight and headed to the stairs to my room to find some
solace.

Once again I had placed a shocked look on his face and he
just stood there.  I didn't care though, I wasn't in the mood for his or
anyone else’s' drama at the moment.

In my room with the door locked and candles lit, I headed to
the shower and ran the water as hot as it would go and I ran it till it was
cold.  I was reverting back to my old self, the self I knew, the one who
shut others out, buried the emotions and did the job.  That was the
Katilyn that knew how to do her job and didn't let anyone or anything bother
her.  That was the Katilyn that was strong and confident, that was the
Katilyn that I needed to be again, before it was too late and I got myself or
someone else killed.

I concentrated on my goals and my job at hand, train, work
with the werewolves and prophet and save the world.  Easy peasy!
This was what I was made to do and it was what I was best at.

I braided my wet hair in a tight braid, threw on a tank top,
boy shorts and then crawled in the bed.  Just because I didn't need the
sleep didn't mean I was not exhausted from the day, I was drained emotionally
and that took a toll on me.

I lay there and stared out at the now full moon in the
sky.  I listened closely and sure enough I was able to hear the low
growls, yips and howls coming from the lake house.  I tuned them out I
didn't want to listen to that because I was trained to fight that and I did not
want to deal with them at the moment.

This was all very new to me, I had only ever encountered a
handful of wolves and they had all tried to eat me.  They didn't care
about sending me to the Underworld; they just thought that I would make a
rather tasty meal.  Working with the wolves would take some getting used
to but if I could work with a vampire I sure as hell could work with peaceful
wolves to win this war.

I listened for Jace downstairs; I could hear the scratch of
a pen as he made notes from the journal pages he was turning.  I could
feel tension in the air but I just ignored it.

Privacy, Peace, Tranquility, and Protection were the spells
that I cast specifically over my room.  I also cast a rather neat one that
I created that only alerts me to deathly threats otherwise everything else is
blotted out of my hearing and focus.

I didn't want to think of my mom tonight, she had betrayed
me and I was not in the mood to have someone like that on my mind.  I
thought of the one person who had never let me down except to not love me for
my own good. I thought of Grayson and the fact that he was the one good thing
that had happened to me since my mom had died and how he had brought me out of
my darkness.

With thoughts of Grayson and our time together I drifted off
to sleep, a peaceful sleep that I hadn't had in a long while.

Chapter 11
--Big Demons, Little Demons, Help is on the Way

I awoke mid-morning to my demon alarm ringing in my head and
it was deafening.  The effect was normal.

I jumped from my bed immediately, pulled on jeans, boots,
and grabbed my bag of gear.  I was downstairs in less than a minute thanks
to the help of my super human speed.

All my wards were still intact, but the demon was still on
the property.

"JACE!"  I yelled, but I didn't get a
response.

"JACE, this is no time to play!  Where in the hell
are you?" I yelled again and decided to head to the front.

When I slowed down and checked the area I found, or rather
heard him yelling outside the front door.

I rushed to the porch and saw him in a heated argument with
Elsie.  A quick scan of the perimeter and I found the wolves on the tree
line, hiding in the trees, watching.  My guess was they were trying to
decide if this psycho was something to be worried about or not, I would say
not, especially for the wolves.  Like the wolves needed to get involved in
the bitch drama that was apparently now a part of my life.

"I will NOT leave till that bitch comes out here so I
can KILL HER!" Elsie screamed at the top of her lungs.  She hadn't
seen me because her back was to me.  I wasn't really paying attention or
actually worried about her.  I was searching for the demon that was
apparently hiding and watching and that scared the hell out of me.  Demons
normally don't bide their time, that is unless they are a higher level demon,
that has knowledge of military advantage.  I saw nothing as I scanned past
the wolves again, damn this was not good.

About that time Elsie discovered that I had made it outside
and that's when she started yelling at me.

"YOU BITCH! YOU GOT ME FIRED!!  I'm going to kill
you for what you did to me" she screamed at me and then bolted for me.

I didn't flinch because what could she possibly do to
me.  She was a mere human girl who had been humiliated, but she wasn't
strong enough to hurt me, more than likely she would only wind up hurting
herself.

Jace started after Elsie, meaning to wrap his arms around
her waist but he just collapsed to the ground.  One look at his face and I
could tell he was having a vision.  Well at least he was getting some
information.

The wolves started toward Elsie; well they at least made an
appearance from behind the trees.  Either they still weren't really
worried that she was a threat or they were testing my abilities and skills
against a human girl.  Ugh, men and their testosterone.

I scanned the area again one more time before Elsie reached
the stairs and could still find nothing.  I realized I had been slow on
the uptake again when Elsie put her foot on the bottom step.  Elsie was
the demon that was setting off my alarm, because when her foot touched my ward
it burned her like acid would.

"What the hell?"  I muttered out loud.
Elsie was now possessed by a demon, hells bells.

"It's you!  You're the demon setting off the
alarm!" I was stunned that they had gotten to someone so close to me, and
someone who I had very recently pissed off quite royally I might add.

"I am the demon you were looking for.  And now he
will know that it is truly you the young human was seething about.  He
will come here for you soon, his beloved daughter, the demon bitch he loves so
much!"  She spoke in demonic tongue, a language that only demons
spoke, I could understand her, but the wolves wouldn't be able to.

Damnit I was in a big dilemma, what the hell am I supposed
to do?  I took a breath and decided to do like I always do, talk out my
choices with the demons.  It kind of confuses them and it also lets me
weigh my options out loud, which helps me tremendously.

"Well here's my dilemma.  If I let you leave, you
will go and tell you big news to him.  You'll tell him where I'm at and
then I have to go ahead and face daddyo.  The other problem is I kill you
and send you back to hell and he still comes to me because now he knows that I
would be the only one capable of killing you and sending you back to hell where
you belong.  And unfortunately for me the big man is capable of tracing me
with the magic that I use.  So you see my issue, either way I am screwed
and Damien can find me.  Personally I would choose to kill you and have
him just trace the magic, much simpler and best for everyone." I stated
nonchalantly, keeping my tone cool and devoid of giving a shit.

I noted that the wolves were moving in closer to her, she
wouldn't be able to turn and run quickly, but then again I have a feeling she's
not your mid-level demon.

The she demon began laughing and a dark shimmer started
covering her body.  It almost looked like she had doused herself in black
glitter.  Hells bells she is definitely not a mid-level demon, she is a
high level demon, one of the higher ups most definitely.

"Who are you?" I yelled at her and leapt off the
steps to grab at her.  I needed to get my hands on her before she
evaporated and disappeared.

"I am Lilim and you will soon be where you
belong.  He will be coming for you as soon as I tell him the news of who
you are." And just like that she disappeared and was gone.

"Where did she go and how could she do that?"
Phelan asked alarmed at her sudden disappearance.

I sank to the porch steps, taking in the full weight of the
problem before me.

"Her name is Lilim, she is the daughter of Lilith and
she will be telling Damien exactly where I am.  She only reports to him
and he wants me more than Aaron does. So that means that Aaron is the least of
our problems." I sighed and palmed my face, feeling myself weaken at the
thought of having to fight Damien so soon, and before I come into my full
powers.

"But how did she take the body?  I’ve only ever
seen them leave, evaporate from the body, how did she do that?" Phelan
asked more questions, his tone reflecting his weariness.

I looked over to Jace, he was still in a trance of sorts,
and I figured he was having one hell of a vision.

"She was able to do that because she is a high level
demon.  She ranks right up there with Alastair, Abaddon, and right
alongside her mom, Lilith.  She is able to do pretty much anything, except
walk this realm without taking over a body.  Unlike Damien who conjures
his own form, she still has to possess a human, just like the other high level
demons."  I told him trying to keep my irritation at his lack of
information and my anxiety about having to meet Damien so soon from my voice.

I was getting upset now; I knew I would have to face him
someday, but so soon.  Honestly I had hoped that I could actually run
forever, always stay a step ahead and keep a look out, but now didn't look like
that would be happening.

"Miss Katilyn, you must not stress about this too
much.  You are a warrior for good and you shall overcome this evil.
You also have something that you never thought you would have" Chief
Sandalio looked at me with his deep soulful eyes as he spoke to me.

I could just look at him and wait for his response.

"You have help and you have friends.  Your prophet
will be able to guide you some and you also have my pack at you aide.  I
sent word to the other members to meet us here for a battle.  They are
already on their way and should arrive by tomorrow morning.  There are
more than you in this war against evil."  He nodded his head to me
and I just nodded back, smiling some.  I was grateful for their help and
newfound friendship, but I was afraid at the cost they would have to pay for
that.  Being friends with me never got anyone anything.

"Thank you Chief Sandalio, I really do appreciate
that.  I promise that should Damien come before I have full powers I will
do all that I am capable of to try and win this war.  Let’s just hope that
he waits about a week so that I can come into my full power.  At that time,
I am sure that I will have powers that I have never dreamed of, but until then
we have to wait and hope." I decided to check on Jace, he had been out to
long for my liking.
