As far as Drew could tell, Chance had spent most of his life in hell already. He didn’t need to go to jail too.

As he watched Chance sleep, he made sure to keep feeding little pieces of wood to the fire, enjoying the warm glow that came from it and from Chance lying against him.

Chance whimpered in his sleep and turned over to face Drew, pushing his face in close to Drew’s stomach. Drew let him settle again and then resumed the soothing touches.

He was starting to realize he was really attracted to Chance. Not just to his looks, but to who he was. He’d never met someone who was such a study in contradictions.

Chance was capable and efficient with some things but the next minute soft and vulnerable. He’d told Drew he’d never really trusted anyone in his life before, but here he was, trusting Drew with everything. The fact that he was gorgeous didn’t hurt, but it wasn’t the most important thing about him.

After all the shit he’d been put through, he still found it in his heart to not only help Drew, but to admit to some very important things about himself. It took more strength than Chance even knew he had.

Drew sat quietly for a while, listening to the rain and quieting Chance when he started to fret in his sleep. He looked down at his watch and discovered that three hours had passed, and he knew he’d have to wake Chance soon so he could get some sleep himself.

The movement must have alerted Chance, though, because when Drew looked down at him again, he was awake, looking up with sweet and sleepy eyes.

“Hey.” Drew smiled shyly at him. “Sleep well?”

Chance nodded and pushed himself up a little on one hand, using the other to wipe the sleep from his eyes. He looked so innocent that Drew couldn’t help himself. He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Chance’s lips before he pulled back to see his reaction, hoping it wouldn’t be a punch to the face.

But the look on Chance’s face was anything but angry. It was more dazed than anything else. “You kissed me.”

Drew nodded.

“Why did you kiss me?” He sounded totally bewildered, and it made Drew smile.

“Because I wanted to.” Drew didn’t have another answer to give him.

“Oh.” Chance sat there for a minute, looking for something in Drew’s expression. He must have found it. “Can I kiss you?”

Drew nodded, and Chance kissed him. It was a little more pressure but still so tender it was almost heartbreaking.

He let one hand come up and curve around Chance’s neck, not pushing, just hanging on. Chance brought his hand up to cup Drew’s jaw and then kissed him a little harder.

When they pulled back to breathe, Chance smiled at him. “Thank you.”

It was Drew’s turn to be confused. “For what?”

Chance pushed a stray lock of hair behind Drew’s ear before answering. “For being my first kiss that meant something. For treating me like a person after everything that happened to you. For giving me this small part of you when you have every reason to hate me.” He shrugged. “For everything….”

Drew just grinned at him softly before pulling him closer. “Come here.”

Chance complied, shifting up as Drew slid down so they were both using the backpack as a pillow. Their legs were tangled together, and they leaned toward each other, foreheads touching as they looked into each other’s eyes.

Drew gave a little tug on the front of Chance’s shirt, pulling him above him as Drew rolled onto his back. He spread his legs to let Chance fall between them, and they slotted together perfectly.

“This okay?” Drew didn’t want to push Chance if he wasn’t ready, but Chance just smiled and leaned in to kiss him.

It was warm and wet and almost unbearably sweet, and Drew gasped, letting Chance slip his tongue inside. For someone without a lot of experience, he was figuring it out quickly.

Chance pulled back to breathe. “This is perfect.”

It wasn’t the most comfortable place to be making out, but knowing this might be their only chance made everything feel sharper and more intense.

Chance held himself up over Drew, staring at him like he was the answer to all his prayers, and it was hands-down the hottest thing Drew had ever seen. He slid his hand around Chance’s neck and pulled him down for a more intense kiss.

The smooth slide of lips and tongue was amazing, and Drew smiled against Chance’s mouth when Chance held himself up on one arm and reached down with his free hand to slip it under the hem of Drew’s hoodie.

Chance’s hand against bare skin felt electrifying, and Drew wanted more. Much more.

He let go of Chance long enough to reach up and undo the zipper on his jacket, letting both halves fall open and revealing his chest and stomach to Chance’s heated gaze.

He reached for Chance’s T-shirt. “Take it off?”

Chance nodded and leaned back on his heels. He grabbed the hem of the shirt and pulled it off, and while he was bruised and battered, he was still gorgeous.

Drew ran his hands over the warm skin gently and then looked up into Chance’s eyes. “Are you sure about this?”

Chance leaned down and kissed him then grabbed Drew’s hand and pulled it between them, pressing it up against the hard line of his cock. The moan that fell from his mouth gave Drew all the answer he needed.

Chapter Ten

gently squeezed the hard flesh still hidden under denim and cotton, pulling another pleasured groan out of Chance and causing him to rock down into Drew’s grasp.

“I want to go slow. I know this is new for you.” Drew was trying so hard not to push Chance past his comfort zone, but he was so fucking amazing that he took Drew’s breath away.

“Fuck slow!” Chance dropped down gently and nipped and sucked at the soft skin under Drew’s jaw. It caused him to arch his head back and give Chance more room to move. “We don’t have time for slow.”

Chance growled the words into Drew’s throat before attacking his mouth as one hand roamed over Drew’s chest and played with his nipples.

He grabbed the hand Drew still had between them and pushed it over Drew’s head, then slid the other one up to join it.

Chance pulled back for a second and looked down at Drew all laid out under him. “If this is my only chance for this, I’m glad it’s with you.”

Emotion threatened to overwhelm Drew for a second as he looked into Chance’s eyes, darkened with desire, but he pushed it back. There’d be time for fear later.

Lifting his legs, he dug his heels into Chance’s ass and pulled him down against him, giving him the leverage he needed for some much-needed friction on his aching cock.

Drew moved his hands, sliding one around Chance’s shoulders while the other tangled in his dark curls. He used his grip to pull Chance’s mouth to his, tongues wrestling for long moments, until they had to stop to breathe.

When they pulled back, their eyes met, and Drew could see the want in Chance’s eyes flare until it almost exploded out of him.

Chance worked one big hand between them, pulling desperately at Drew’s jeans. When he had them open, he slid his hand inside, under the waistband of Drew’s briefs, and then Drew cried out as Chance curled a hand around his cock.

He fought to keep his eyes open against the pleasure that threatened to make them roll back in his head as Chance stroked him carefully.

“You’re the fucking hottest thing I’ve ever seen.” Chance’s voice cracked, and it made Drew feel powerful.

Planting his feet on the ground, he rolled his hips against Chance’s hand and felt the answering twitch of Chance’s cock against his hip.

“Wanna feel more of you, Chance. Come on.” Drew arched his back, trying to get more friction, and Chance pulled back with a growl.

He attacked his pants, getting them open and pushing them down so his cock was free before falling on Drew once again and rutting against him.

“Fuck!” Chance licked his way into Drew’s mouth, taking what he wanted and giving Drew so much more. “I know we can’t… but fuck… I wanna be inside you.”

Drew reached up and framed Chance’s face with his hands. Looking into those stormy blue eyes, he saw everything he ever wanted. “When we get out of here….”

It was a promise Drew had every intention of keeping. When Chance nodded, Drew licked his own palm before reaching between them to take both cocks in his hand and stroke them slowly.

“I can’t wait until I can feel every inch of you sinking into me. I’m gonna want to come before you’re even all the way in, but I won’t.”

Drew leaned up and nipped at Chance’s collarbone, sucking hard to leave a satisfying mark. “I’m gonna kiss you for hours, just because I can, and keep us both on edge. It’ll feel so good when we finally let go.”

Chance bent and kissed him again then nuzzled into his neck, panting softly for a second. When he pulled back, he reached between them, letting his fingers tangle with Drew’s. “Then what, Drew? Come on… tell me.”

He could hear it in Chance’s voice, the need to know that Drew believed there was a way out of their terrifying situation and there might be a future for them, because if Drew believed it, then maybe he could too.

Their fingers were speeding up, and Drew knew he wouldn’t last much longer.

He used his free hand to pull Chance to him, their foreheads touching. Both of them thrust and rolled their hips, desperately looking for the fall.

“You’re gonna fuck me, Chance. Push in so deep that I’ll never be able to forget you were there. I’m gonna have you bare, skin on skin for the first time in my life, and I’ll feel it when you come, marking me up from the inside.”

Drew was almost grunting words out now. “It’ll make me come so hard, Chance… you’ll feel me squeezing around you so tightly that we’ll be able to feel each other’s heartbeats.”

He could feel his orgasm starting to roll through him and let it take over. He cried out when the first splash of liquid heat hit his fingers and distantly heard the sounds of Chance coming right behind him.

When Chance collapsed against him, Drew held him close, stroking along his neck and spine until they could both breathe again.

“I wish….” There was no way for Chance to end that sentence that would make either of them feel any better, so Drew just shushed him.

“Me too… but for now, we have other things to think about.” He kissed the top of Chance’s head and hugged him tightly before pushing him back.

Chance retreated reluctantly, using his shirt and a bottle of water to wash them both up as best he could. When he was done, he laid the shirt to dry again before helping Drew straighten out his clothing.

He leaned back against the pack and pulled Drew to his chest. “You need to rest a bit. You’ve got to be exhausted.”

Drew turned his head to press a small kiss to Chance’s jaw. “Yeah, I guess a few hours couldn’t hurt.” He snuggled in closer, relishing the feeling of strong arms around him.

“Did you mean it… all that stuff you said? About when we get out of here?”

Drew knew it must have cost Chance a lot of pride to ask. He turned a little more, looking up into his eyes. “Every single word… I promise.” They stared at each other quietly until Drew’s eyes became too heavy to hold open. “Sorry. Just so tired.”

Chance smiled down at him. “Go to sleep. I’ll keep watch.”

Drew nodded and let himself fall, secure in the knowledge that Chance was there to watch over him. “M’kay.”

woke a few hours later to Chance shaking him gently. He moaned his disapproval, earning a quiet chuckle.

“Sorry, Sleeping Beauty, but we have to get going.” Chance rubbed Drew’s shoulders and neck, and Drew couldn’t help but lean into it.

“H’mmm. That’s nice.” He snuggled back into the hard, warm chest behind his, smiling when he felt Chance’s lips on his neck.

“It really is, but unfortunately we don’t have time to sit and enjoy it.” With one more kiss to the warm skin under Drew’s hair, Chance pushed himself out from behind him and stood. He grabbed his T-shirt and slipped it on, much to Drew’s disappointment, and then grabbed his socks and boots, slipping them on and tying them quickly and efficiently.

“The rain’s stopped, and I’m going to go and get a few more of those berries for us to eat. We’re gonna need the energy.” He looked down at Drew with a soft smile that made the warm spot in Drew’s chest expand.

“Okay. I’m just gonna try and wake up a little.” Drew stood and then stretched his back. He didn’t miss the way Chance’s eyes darkened as he looked at him. “Man, what I wouldn’t give for some coffee.”

Chance chuckled. “Yeah. At least in the marines, there was always plenty of that.” He reached for Drew hesitantly, smiling when Drew stepped into his embrace easily.

Drew hummed his approval when Chance kissed him and pressed against him tightly for a moment before pushing him toward the front of the cave. “Go on, be the big hunter. I’ll be ready right away.”

The other man grinned and then walked out into the woods.

Drew sat down and carefully pulled on his own socks and shoes. He opted to leave the bandages on his feet, hoping that they would help cushion the sorest parts.

When he was done, he stepped out into the woods and looked around for Chance before finding a spot to relieve himself. He wasn’t sure why the thought of Chance seeing him embarrassed him now. It seemed kind of silly.

When he was finished, he tucked himself back in and turned to head back to the cave to wait for Chance when he found himself pushed back against the wall of rock and face to face with Ezra.

The man had one hand over Drew’s mouth and the other held a gun to his chest. The smile on his face was pure evil.

“So, little faggot, guess you managed to turn the colonel’s son after all.” He pushed in harder and thrust a knee in between Drew’s legs, leaning against his balls hard enough to make him see stars.

Drew couldn’t help the whimper of pain from behind Ezra’s hand, but it seemed to infuriate the man holding him hostage.

“You keep it fucking quiet. If lover boy comes barreling back in now, I’ll have to kill him instead of leaving him for his fucked-up father to deal with.” He dug the barrel of the gun a little harder into Drew’s ribs. “You shut up and he gets to keep breathing a little while longer, got it?”
