In the Stars (16 page)

His eyes look wild and suddenly dark. Both of us our breathing very heavy, and his voice comes out a lot deeper. “Do you want control, Caroline? If so this is all you; take the lead from here.” I grab hold of his wrist and place both his hands on my breast as I slide down onto him and roll my hips. We both let out ragged curses and praises as I continue to ride him.

Kyle sits up and takes my mouth with his again and places his fingers between us, circling my over sensitive spot. I feel the tingle building in my head, and then the tightening of my release around him. I am gasping in his mouth, and then his lips leave mine as he grabs hold of my hips, bringing me up and down. His eyes squeeze shut, and he growls out my name as he finds his release as well.

Kyle and I are back in his kitchen, both feeling a bit of refueling is in order. I am sitting at the island again while he digs through the fridge. I’m wearing one of his shirts he gave me to put on, and I love how it smells like him. He threw on a pair of low hanging sweats, and is commando underneath. I watch his shoulder and back muscles as he is bent in the fridge moving things around. He looks so damn hot. I think of where we just were, and I can’t help but bite at my lip and let out a little moan.

Kyle turns back at me, with one eyebrow arched up and the sexiest smirk on his face. “Like what you see, Caroline?”

“Oh I like it very much; thank you.”

“Huh, give me just a while longer and I will be happy to show you more then. What would you like to drink?” I stand from the stool and walk over to him, wrapping my arm around the back of his neck. He takes his arm, wrapping it behind me and pulls me in close to him.

The cold air coming from the fridge feels good on my still over heated body. He leans down taking my lips with his, and our mouths part open, tongues wrapping around one another. I pull back slightly with a smile on my lips. “Didn’t you say something about a drink? Do you have a beer?”

“You are just too damn desirable for anyone’s good. Beer it is then.”

We spend the next part of the evening on the couch, drinking a few beers. I talk Kyle into playing some more music for me. I have to literally sit on top of my hands, so I don’t reach out and grab him. He is really good, and my hormones are on serious overdrive listening to him.

The way his fingers move across the strings, and his hand slides up and down the fretboard; then add his singing to it. My body is tingling all over and I want him, but I also don’t want to stop him from my personal show. He watches me throughout his singing, and I can see the joy in his eyes.

We take a shower together later that night, and practice our wet tile skills. Once we climb into his bed, he pulls me in tightly against him and I drift off in his arms.

I wake the next morning to the smell of coffee and bacon. No one in their right mind can resist the smell of bacon. I make my way down stairs, and walk up behind Kyle at the stove. I wrap my hands around to his stomach and kiss the center of his back. He turns toward me, and leans in for the sweetest kiss ever. “Morning, Gorgeous; hope you slept ok. Huh, I think somehow you managed to wake up looking even sexier. I made some coffee if you want some.”

“I would love some coffee; thank you. As far as my looks, you know what they say. It is that just fucked hair and glow effect.” I hear his low rumble again, and his mouth parts open slightly. I just wink at him and walk over to the coffee pot. “Damn it, Caroline, you like being bad don’t you?”

“The question, Kyle, is, is it really bad, or is it actually good?”

“No doubt Caroline; it is fucking good. Hope you like bacon and eggs.”

Kyle and I spend the day talking, along with him playing another song, and us breaking in the couch. As I am getting ready for work, Kyle sits on the edge of his tub just watching me. “You know, my bed isn’t ever going to feel the same now without you in it, Caroline. It sucks that you have to go.”

I turn around to face him as I lean back on the sink. He has the cutest damn smile; it just reels you in. “Well, I don’t want to wear out my welcome too fast. I’m sure there will be more nights together to come. I know that tonight my dorm room will feel even lonelier than usual, after my night here with you.”

Kyle stands, walking over to me. He puts his hands on the counter on each side of me. He just stands there for a moment, hazel eyes watching me. “I am not sure what is going on here, Caroline. I think about you more than I have any girl in a long time. I’m not perfect; I can be a selfish asshole at times. I’ve had my share of one night stands as well. I just want you to know that isn’t what I want with you. I am at a point in life where I am ready for more.”

I look down slightly and lightly run my nails up and down his forearm. “Kyle, I don’t want this to be a one night stand with you either. I can’t say honestly, though, what I am wanting or looking for right now.” He reaches under my chin, pulling my eyes back up to his. “I just have so much going on with school, work, and now moving in with Tara soon. If it is ok with you, I just want to go day by day and see how this goes.”

He leans down and gently kisses my lips. He pulls away and smiles, as he lightly strokes his finger across my cheek. “I understand, Caroline. I just wanted to let you know where I stood. I’d rather you make your decision, because it is what you know you want, and not because it is what you think you have to do.”

He takes a step back, and looks me up and down. “So this is your work uniform, huh? I’m sure the menu isn’t the main thing the guys are looking at while you are standing at their table.” He gives me a wink and a slight laugh. I can tell he is trying to lighten up any tension from the semiserious moment we just had.

I stand up straighter and tilt my head to the side. “Well, it has been known to falsely give a couple guys an invitation to swat at my ass. I might have also noticed a couple over extended gazes at my name across my shirt as well. The tips are decent, though, and the other workers are pretty cool.”

Suddenly, Kyle’s body stiffens, and his eyes are squinted together. “I better not catch a guy smacking your ass. Whether we are together or not; if you don’t want it, then it better not be happening.”

“It has only happened a couple times with the ones that are overly cocky, or have had a few too many. The night shift employees never walk out to their cars alone. Nothing more serious has ever happened.”

I reach up on my toes to kiss Kyle, and try and ease the new type of tension that has seemed to arrive. He stares at me for a second more in thought, then slightly shakes his head. “Ok, but if you don’t mind when you work evenings I still would like those text or calls knowing you made it in safe.”

“It’s a deal; I promise. I have to get going, though. I promised Raleigh a quick visit, since I was in the area, and then straight to work.”

We walk into his bedroom, as I check around to make sure I have everything. Kyle walks up beside me and takes my bag as I head for the stairs. “I worked with Raleigh again Friday. I think she is going to be just fine. She will always have some soreness and some stiff moments at times, but she is definitely a fighter.” I can’t help the big smile that comes across my face. I will always worry about Raleigh, and to hear this coming from Kyle talking professionally it makes me feel really good.

“Thank you for that. She really means so much to me, and she most definitely is a fighter. Thank you for this weekend too. Everything about it was wonderful. You have a real talent, and I thank you for sharing it with me. The music was pretty good too.” Kyle bumps my shoulder slightly, and just shakes his head.

“You really are one of a kind, Caroline. I appreciate you sharing your talents too. This was the best couple of days I have had in a long time. I meant it when I said my bed just isn’t going to be the same. I am going to miss you.”

We have reached my car, and he has my door open with his arm wrapped around my back, holding me to him. “I really am going to miss you too, Kyle. I guess it is a good thing I have work and school to keep me busy until we get together again. It will help me from going stir crazy, waiting.”

Kyle leans down, taking over my mouth again. We really are putting on quite the show for all his neighbors. One of his hands is at the small of my back, and the other one is buried in my hair. I have both my hands entangled in his hair, and we are keeping our tongues and lips very busy. Kyle slides his hand down, giving my ass one more squeeze, and then pulls away. We’re both breathing heavy with big smiles on our faces.

“Be safe, Caroline. I will talk to you soon.”

“Talk to you soon Kyle, bye.”

I see him in my rearview mirror, watching me as I drive away.

MY VISIT WITH Raleigh went by way too fast. She made sure to get every detail I was willing to spill out of me, though. She hung on every word like she was watching a fairytale. I sure do hope Raleigh finds her Prince Charming one day; she deserves one.

She did seem very interested when I was telling her my whole story about running into Eric, and the way we both responded to each other. That seemed to be an even bigger deal to her then when I told her about Kyle being a musician. She knows how I am about music, and, even though, she let me know that his playing music to me will be like my own personal catnip, she said something very meaningful about my talking about Eric. “The way you look when you talk about him. I can’t say I have ever seen that look on you before.” Raleigh knows me better than anyone. So, her making that observation is a very big deal. Of course, this just makes my whole confusion over the matter even worse.

Work goes by fast too, and by the time I get back to my room, I am exhausted. As I am walking down the hall to my door, I notice a guy walking out of my room backward. His head is still leaning in the door and red painted nails are wrapped around the back of his neck. Guess I just missed another one of Piper’s performances—how sad. He pulls back and the door closes. As I get closer, he is still standing there hooking his belt back together. He looks up to walk away, and gives me a cocky smile.

He isn’t a bad looking guy, but that look he has on his face says that he knows that about himself. That look alone is enough to make him ugly. “Well, hey there; is this your room? Sorry you weren’t here earlier. I would have loved for you to join the party.”

I pull my keys out of my bag, and look up at him and roll my eyes. “Seriously, does that shit work on anybody? The girl, Piper, you were just with doesn’t count; she is just a nympho.”

I open my door to walk in while Mr. Cocky tries and get the last word in. “Whatever, Bitch, I would have you screaming my name in pleasure.”

I stick my head out the door for one more second. “Or, in this case, rape.” He quickly turns back toward me, and I slam the door shut in his face.

Piper comes walking out of the bathroom and lets out a huff when she sees me. “Oh joy, you’re back. I was really starting to miss you, Caroline.”

“No worries, Piper. I won’t have to be concerned about the diseases I could be getting by sharing a bathroom with you, and you can have your sex quarters all to yourself, as of the first of December.”

Piper rolls her eyes and climbs into her bed. “Bitch.”

I start sitting all my stuff down and getting my sleep shirt out. “Well Piper, it seems you aren’t the first person to call me that tonight…. So, yes maybe.”

In our shared class on Monday, Adam has now claimed the seat beside me. Most of his talking always seems to go back toward the subject of Tara. I can tell he is interested, but he says he’s not going there, since she just got out of a serious relationship. We pretty much work out a schedule for days Adam, Tara, and I can all meet up together for lunch. Then there will also be our must have coffee gatherings at his work. So, either way, they will get the opportunity to really get to know each other.

Tara and I get together both Monday and Tuesday to go running and discuss our plans, as far as moving in and living arrangements. She also told me Eric had said something to her about seeing and talking to me at the Drug Store. She didn’t mention the condoms, so neither did I.

Kyle has a really busy work week going on, but is off on Friday. I have to work that evening until 9, but he plans on picking me up when I’m done to come back to his house for the night. When Tara and I were talking, I told her about my weekend plans. Tara said that Eric was supposed to be coming by her place Friday evening. She asked Eric about if possibly, sometime during my shift, bringing him to pick up my blazer and leave it at her house. Tara is using the whole taking-him-there-for-dinner-so-hey-why-not-bring-back-the-car-too bit. Food being one of many weaknesses for a man to refuse. I actually get excited over the thought of Eric being in my car, even though I won’t even be in it. What is wrong with me? He makes me loose all common sense.

Raleigh is building up the nerve to drive more now, so she said she would take me back home Saturday from Kyle’s place. It was really rough for her the first time she got behind the wheel again last month. She just couldn’t shake the fear of another possible accident after all she has already been through. Raleigh isn’t the type to let herself live in fear, though, so this will be good for her.
