"I was hoping you'd want to stay the night," he said. She could see the disappointment in his eyes.

"Not tonight." She smiled and took another sip of wine. As she drank, she tipped her head back and Liam couldn’t help but notice her neck, it looked smooth and subtle. He felt his pulse quicken and tried hard to regain his composure. Outside under the moonlight, her medium skin tone offset by her hazel colored eyes made her look even more alluring. He couldn’t help but stammer. "Aurora, I've never been with a black woman before."

"Well then, I guess I should tell you that I'm not black, black is a color. I'm African American, with African ancestry and American Indian," she said matter-of-factly and set her wine glass down on the balcony. "Now I feel stupid," he said shaking his head. She got closer to him and wrapped her arms around him. "You're not stupid, just misinformed." She stood on tippy toes and brushed her full and sensual red lips against his. He felt his stupor lessen as she laughed quietly. Aurora playfully pushed him into the bedroom and onto the bed. While straddling him, she eased out of her dress. The satin and lace undergarments she wore clung to her body and squeezed her breasts together seductively. His mouth watered at the thought of taking her soft breasts into his mouth. She licked her lips as she stared down at him. Liam felt his cock begin to swell as he stared back; every inch of her body seemed to be the ending of a curve, or the beginning of another.

She was incredibly feminine, painfully and intoxicatingly feminine. While he lay seduced by her, Aurora began slowly stripping the clothes from his body. His eyes almost rolled to the back of his head at the mere feel of her. He struggled to maintain his focus so that he could watch her move languidly over his body. The feel of her warm flesh, her silky smooth skin rubbing against his. He embraced her tightly, wanting to feel the fullness of her body, and against his cock which was swollen and aching. She pulled away and smiled again, an intense desire burning in her eyes.

She licked her lips as she slid on top of him. A moan of ecstasy escaped his mouth as his shaft pushed inside of her. He shuddered as he felt her clench her pussy around him again and again. His masculine hands explored her body, luxuriating in the feel of her on top. He began to ache for her like a man possessed and his hands trembled as he eagerly unhooked her brassiere, freeing her breasts from their satin imprisonment. Liam moaned softly with every movement, his mind swimming as the room spun.

He grew drunk with lust and desire as he squeezed her full breasts in his hands and rolled his tongue against her nipples. Aurora began to moan as well and ground her clit against him, her juices pouring onto him, lubricating his shaft as she rode it. Over and over he plunged his cock into her, each thrust made him hungrier than the last. The sensation made him ache for her more. He began to fuck like a man obsessed. Aurora threw her head back and moaned in ecstasy as she spasmed around him, her orgasm rocketing through him, making him harder and more desirous to explode. Unable to control himself, he grabbed her hips and thrust wildly. She licked her lips as she looked down at him and he could feel his mind go blank. His heart pounded and his pulse raced as she raked her nails across his chest.

Finally, when he could take it no longer, he felt his entire body grow tense. Aurora sensed his orgasm coming and pulled him close to her, the sensation of his cock moving inside of her made him explode. Liam leaned his head back and began moaning in extreme pleasure. And as he came, Aurora leaned down and kissed him passionately on the lips than on his neck. The feel of her lips and tongue made him cum even harder. He felt weak as the fluid continued pouring out of him. Finally, when he could take no more, he collapsed back on the bed taking Aurora with him. He could feel her eyes on him, her smile as she enjoyed the feel of her hunger being satisfied. He smiled too, unable to do more, unable to speak.

She kissed him again, this time her kiss was deep and possessive. "Now take me home lover," she whispered in his ear and got up from the bed.

Chapter Six

"What do you mean she's probably staying at a shelter?" Ronnie and his friend Mark sat at the kitchen table. They had taken the short walk from JR's back to Ronnie's place, and Mark told him where he thought his wife Mari might be hiding.

Mark released a heavy sigh. "I don’t know man, it’s a possibility. I mean she doesn’t have a lot of money, no car, and she hasn’t been back here to collect her things. It seems pretty logical that she would end up in a woman's shelter. At least that's where my girl ended up when we had a big fight. I fucked up, and I hit her, I didn’t mean to but I did and I spent the night in jail because of it. But I got help Ronnie, and now when things get heated between the two of us I walk away. And that's what you need to do buddy, you need to get some help man, it’s the only way you'll get your wife back."

Ronnie nodded his head like he agreed. He would have said and done anything to make his friend believe that what he did to his wife was wrong. But deep down he knew, he knew that there would be no help for him because nothing was his fault. Mari just had to learn when to keep her mouth shut. The sooner she learned that, the better off they would both be. But in the meantime, he'd go and get her out of that place.
No wife of mine is staying in a fucking shelter,
he thought to himself.

"Alright then what the fuck are we waiting for? Let's go check it out." Ronnie was more than ready to go and collect his wife. Mark shook his head. "I can't go with you. I wasn’t even supposed to tell you about the shelter man. No, you gotta go by yourself and for god's sake if she is there, don’t cause a scene. Not unless you want to end up back in jail. She's got a restraining order out on you Ronnie. You'd do best to just scope out the situation." Mark warned.

Ronnie put out the cigarette that he'd been smoking. "Fuck that piece of paper," he growled. "I'm getting my wife back."

Mark grabbed him by the collar. "Look man, I can't be involved. You go there and get caught, you don’t know me and I don’t know you. You got that?"

Ronnie stared at him with angry eyes, their burning ferocity accented by the redness caused by sleep deprivation and the overindulgence of alcohol. "If you didn’t want me to go, then why the fuck did you tell me where she was?" Ronnie shouted.

Mark shrugged his shoulders. "I don’t know man, I just got tired of seeing you sitting around day after day sulking. I figured the job down at the factory wasn’t satisfying enough, and a war vet like you deserves a second chance. So don’t fuck it up by getting caught is all I'm saying Ronnie. Don’t go and get yourself into more trouble. Just see if maybe you can talk to her, get her to drop the charges and come home with you."

Ronnie rested his hands on his friend's shoulders. "Of course buddy, that's all I'm gonna do." He smirked and lied through his teeth.

The drive back to Aurora's place had been mostly silent. Liam kept going over what he was going to say and how he was going to say it. Aurora had captivated him like no other, and he wanted to see her again. Just come out and say it, his mind told him.

"Aurora, I'd like to see you again," he said and glanced at her. She had a look of complete and utter satisfaction on her face. It disappeared when he asked to see her again. "Liam, I don’t want to get hung up in a prudish relationship. I just want the both of us to feel good," she said.

"And you can't feel good in a relationship?" He questioned her.

"Not in any that I've seen," she replied.

He'd stopped at a light and for a second or two he met the challenge of her eyes with his own direct gaze. He let out a sarcastic chuckle. "It would appear that I'm not the only one who is misinformed," he said and stepped on the gas pedal. The new car glided smoothly on the pavement. It was the smoothest ride, and she was enjoying herself. She regarded him skeptically, as if she should know what he was talking about.

"What am I misinformed about Liam?"

"Maybe misinformed is the wrong word, more like jaded," he said.

She folded her arms defensively and offered only a tight smile. "And what makes you think I'm jaded? Is it because I choose not to get involved in a complicated relationship? Or is it because I'm a
woman
who chooses not to get involved in a complicated relationship?"

They were nearing her home, and Liam wasn’t ready for the night to end. He pulled the car over to the side of the road, but not before pissing off an angry driver in a pick-up truck. The sound of his horn blaring as he passed.

"Liam, what are you doing?" She huffed. "I'd like to go home, now please."

He ignored her request. "Look Aurora I think it's safe to say that we have an intense chemistry. Now all I'm saying is that I'd like to pursue that and see where things go. I want to see you again." He urged. "Can I see you again?"

"If I say yes will you bring me home?" She asked. Her feeling of contentment leaving her as she spoke.

Liam could hear the blandness in her voice. "Well when you put it like that", he said and pulled back onto the road. "Forget I asked," he said and continued to drive. Aurora turned and looked out the window. She hadn't meant to be so cold to him, and he was right, the chemistry between them was amazing, well in the bedroom it was. As far as anywhere else she still didn’t know. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to take those steps into a relationship. If it meant being alone, then that was all right. She had wanted to take care of her place, and the many friends that entered it long before she had wanted a man. But there were times when she wondered if she was overdoing it, becoming far too set in her ways. She didn’t want to become a spinster lady. She was sure that she would find someone, eventually, but she wasn’t sure if now was the right time.

Mari and Rosie were sitting in front of the fire when they heard the sound of a car pulling up in the driveway. "She's home early," Rosie said.

"I hope it wasn’t a bad night for her." Mari frowned.

"Mari!" A man's voice broke through the silence of their wooded retreat.

Mari recognized the voice immediately, it was her husband Ronnie. "Call 911," Mari instructed Rosie.

As Rosie snatched the telephone from its cradle Mari turned off all the lights and made sure that the doors were locked.

"How the hell did he find you?" Rosie whispered. She just gotten off the phone with the police, and they told her that help was on the way.

Mari's heart began to race and her flesh ached in painful recollection each time he shouted her name.

"What do we do?" Rosie questioned her. She was shaking, and her eyes were wide with fear.

"We stay quiet and pray that the cops get here soon," she said. Trying to make her own voice as calming as possible.

Ronnie was laying on the horn when he'd pulled into the driveway. He couldn’t see Mari, but he noticed a car in the driveway and one was pulling in.

"Who the hell is that?" Liam had just pulled in and saw the pick-up outside.

"Someone's found out where we are," Aurora said. Liam had barely put the car in park before Aurora jumped out. "Liam call 911," she told him as she made her way towards the strange man.

"Jesus Aurora, will you wait!" Liam shouted. But there was to be no waiting for Aurora, there was no way she was going to let some stranger get to her friends. She didn’t know if he was there for Mari or Rosie, but either way, she was going to make sure that he left alone and in handcuffs.

"You're on private property!" She shouted and stepped up close. She could smell the alcohol on his breath, and the USMC stickers on his pick up alerted her to the fact that she was speaking to Mari's husband Ronnie.

"Get the fuck out of my way bitch, I've come for my wife," he slurred.

"Your wife's not here Ronnie." She glared at him.

Ronnie held onto the door of his pick up and tried to steady himself. How did this woman know his name? Who the fuck was she? When Liam appeared at her side, she spoke once again. "I said your wife is not here. So If I were you I'd get my ass back in the truck and get the hell out of here." Before it registered in his brain, Ronnie reached out and shoved Aurora. She fell back into Liam for a moment before pushing back. "Don’t you put your filthy hands on me!" She was yelling now and hadn't noticed that the police had showed up. "I'll put my hands where ever I want bitc…" Liam didn’t give Ronnie a chance to finish his sentence, he punched Ronnie in the mouth, knocking him to the ground.

"If I were you, I'd listen to what the lady said." Liam stood stoically above him. Ronnie cowered on the ground and let himself be led away by the police. "You alright?" Liam asked.

"I'm fine Liam. I've got to check on the girls."

Rosie and Mari rushed outside and ran to Aurora. "He just showed up and started screaming my name," Mari hurried out the words. Both she and Rosie were in a panic, and the police and their flashing lights were not helping.

"You ladies alright?" Nick asked. He'd been on duty when the 911 call from Rosie came in.

"Yeah this guy is obviously intoxicated and in violation of the restraining order. Claims that he was invited here by his wife, you Mari."

Aurora turned and looked at Mari. "Well don’t look at me, she said.

"It would be a cold day in hell before I would invite that asshole to come anywhere near me." Her tone serious.

"Besides, Rosie and I were having way too much fun, why in god's name would I want to put a damper on things by inviting my abusive husband over?"

Aurora placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Of course you wouldn’t Mari," she said and gave Nick a disapproving glance. Officer Barek just has to ask dumb questions sometimes. Come on, let's get you two out of the cold."

As they made their way back to the house, Mari could hear her husband shouting her name. "Don’t look back," Aurora told her. "Don't worry, I have absolutely no intention to," Mari said and walked back into the house.

Liam exchanged looks with Nick before the two of them made their way inside the house. "I'm going to get this guy back to the station and book him. Will you ladies be alright?" He asked and gave Liam the once over. Aurora had forgotten that Liam was even there. "Yes Nick, we'll be fine." She smiled warmly and thanked him. "You'll be okay?" He asked looking at Mari. "I'll be fine officer, thank you for coming out." She returned his friendly smile.
