Kings of Awakening Vampires and Purebloods (54 page)

“Wait! Stop!” Aleister heard a loud voice behind him. When he looked back he could see a boy.

“Please don’t try to open that door; you’ll release the monster inside.”

“Monster, what monster?” Before the boy could answer, Aleister realized what he was talking about. Albedo’s mind was behind the door of conscience, so that means the darkness must be in there. Good, thought Aleister, if he can somehow find a way to get inside of his conscience, then he could bring Albedo back. “Look kid, I know you don’t know who I am, and I know you’re afraid of me. But I’m going to need you to tell me quickly now, where is the key to this door?”

The boy looked at him, “I know who you are, Aleister. You were the one giving me nightmares all the time. Thanks to you this place is filled with weird creatures.”

This wasn’t what Aleister was looking for.
Who is this boy
, he thought,
what is he to this place
?

The boy walked up to him and placed his right hand on Aleister’s sand-watch, the sand went back to the beginning. Aleister examined his watch and saw that it was back to the beginning, good, now he had more time.

“How did you do that?”

“I’m sorry mister, but I don’t have the key to this room. And if you shatter it, I don’t know what might happen.”

“Then who has the key?”

“I don’t know.”

This kid was weird, awkward and useless. “Tell me about the black memory-glasses, how do I break them?”

“I don’t know,” he replied emotionless.

Was there anything he knows, or was he holding back answers from Aleister? Aleister thought about grabbing him and demanding the answer, but that would not be such a good idea. This boy had been here longer than Aleister, he might know something essential. Aleister could not recall ever seeing this boy before when he used to enter Albedo’s mind. “Tell me kid, who are you really?”

“I’m nobody, just a figment created from Albedo’s memories that’s all.”  He hesitated, but he said, “I can tell you a way to bring Albedo back.”

“Then tell me already. I don’t have much time,” said Aleister rapidly.

“It might not work but, if you shattered all the memory-glass simultaneously. That would put Albedo’s mind into overload, forcing him to wake up.”

All those memories rushing into his mind might be just enough to wake him up from his consciousness. Of course, so simple, why didn’t Aleister think of that? Aleister wasted no time jumping off the cliff back to the bottom of the pit. When he got there he stood in the middle of all the glasses and raised his right hand.

“SHATTERED!”

All the glasses broke into millions of pieces, millions of bubbles rushed to the top. Aleister could feel it; the Reawakening was losing its grip on Albedo’s mind. He quickly took off the sand-watch and Aleister’s body burst into bubbles, sending his mind back into his own body.

When Aleister was out of Albedo’s mind, Albedo’s fist was this close of connecting into his stomach once again. Albedo started to scream, making that sound that Michael made. Aleister was now badly hurt; all those punches to the gut took its toll on him, and using his teleportation while using the Reawakening drains too much energy and had broken his concentration. Blood was coming out of his hands, chest, legs, and back. Albedo’s fireball had nearly killed him. He quickly placed his right hand onto Albedo’s head.

“SHATTERED!”

Albedo fell to the ground and the Reawakening started to lose its strength. Aleister now

fell to
the ground and lay beside Albedo, who was now unconscious. Today Aleister had nearly died, lost his mind by trying to bring Dawson back to him. Aleister knows he had failed to do so, if only he was able to enter the door of consciousness, then maybe he could have brought Albedo back from there and teach him the secret to control this power. Without a proper training it was going to dominate his mind.  Today he had done a lot and he badly needed to rest, and blood, he needed blood to regenerate. He closed his eyes after a long journey.

Angelione finally decided it was time to approach the two, he did it calmly and carefully. Aleister and Albedo were lying there unconscious, he could do it, kill two of the world’s most powerful enemies. He stood in the middle of them and took out his sword from his back.

“I was wondering when you would show up.”

Angelione looked at Aleister who could barely move. Angelione said nothing and stared at him.

“You may be able to hide yourself from Albedo’s power, but you cannot hide from me.”

“So you knew I was following Albedo, I did well concealing my presence,” said Angelione.

Aleister gave a faint laugh, “Well of course. With that power of yours it’s easy for you to hide from someone like Albedo. But not only did I sense you coming, I foresaw it.”

So he does know about it
, thought Angelione.

“Out of all of your teammates, you’re the only one who truly understands what’s taking place. You knew that I only wanted Albedo, and you knew I was making you all run in circles trying to find me. At first I anticipated Sonia to be the one to come and find Albedo, but she is too irrational. Then I saw you, I knew you were going to follow Albedo eventually when the time came for me to lead him to me.”

“I have bad news for you, Aleister. I didn’t come here to help, and I came here to kill you and… Albedo,” Angelione hesitantly paused.

Aleister laughed, “So is that the decision you came up with? I once held your life in my hands, and now you hold Albedo’s in your hand.”

“Don’t be too cocky, I can kill you too right now!”

“Perhaps, and perhaps not,” said Aleister with a sardonic smile. “I once held your life and looked into your eyes, you say I’m a monster, but no my friend, it is you.”

Angelione now looked furious, “You know nothing!”

“You haven’t told any member of your team about your true past. That day when I looked into your eyes, I went inside and saw all your filthy secrets.” Aleister laughed loudly now. “How could you have committed such a heinous crime? Does the king know? Does your old master know?” Angelione looked
angry, “By that look on your face they do, but as for the rest of your teammates, that’s a different story.”

“You don’t know anything! I had no other choice! But to---”

“--- no choice,” finishing Angelione’s sentence. “Is that why you ask your brother for forgiveness whenever you used that ability of yours?”

Angelione held his sword tight with his hands trembling, wanting to kill Aleister. “You’re a fool, you cannot kill me with that weak swor
d; it will never reach my flesh,” said Aleister.

“So I was right, your sword wasn’t made from metal, but titanium. But that’s impossible; your white flame cannot melt titanium for you to craft a sword.”

“That is true,” responded Aleister.
The Blue Crimson flame is not the only mean in

melting titanium
. “I’d love to stay and chat, but I must take my leave.” He looked at Albedo, “He broke almost every bone in my body.” He snorted, “But it’s alright though, I can always grow new ones.”

“You’re not going anywhere!” Angelione was about to swing his sword at Aleister, but Aleister simply looked him in the eye and memories of Angelione’s past started rushing through his mind. He screamed for Aleister to stop, and when Aleister finally did, he was gone.

Albed
o
woke up slowly; just barely, to find Angelione staring into his eyes, a sword on his throat. Albedo did not move, his body was aching, and he had lost all his energy. He was exhausted and half asleep. He looked at Angelione and the man looked as if he had just seen a ghost.

Aleister had put fear into his eyes, showing memories he had tried to
block away for so long.  “You and the others have killed so many in your lifetime. If I kill you now, we can have a better chance against Aleister and the others. Your death would save a lot of suffering in this world,” said Angelione. He could save millions of lives if he kills Albedo. To do what King Victor and the others could not do. Angelione stared into his eyes, his hands trembling and he start thinking about Sonia. “But then again, if I do kill you, I think I will cause more pain by doing so. I want to believe that you’re different from the others, Albedo. When I look into your eyes, I see you are good. So I won’t kill you for now, I want you to prove to me you are different from the other ones.”

Angelione believed he was a special child. Time and time again Albedo had proven that to him, not by his power, but his heart. He didn’t like the way Albedo conduct himself during missions, they way he would talk and not listen
, but he had chose to follow his heart.  “And besides, if I kill you, she would never forgive me.”   He wondered why Aleister sacrificed his body to save Albedo from the rock, a rock that large could surely damage him. What sort of game was Aleister playing? He was too different from Albedo.

A few minutes passed by and Angelione could hear the others coming. Sonia, Axil, and

Dante walked in; they could see Albedo was badly hurt.

“Angelione, what happened here?” asked a concerned Sonia.

Angelione explained what had happened. How he had followed Albedo after noticing he was sneaking out of the castle, and found him fighting Aleister.  He chose not to tell her about thinking of killing him, figuring she might not understand.

“We have company, Drake is coming with his men,” said Axil quickly.

Drake appeared with about fifty of his men and asked, “What happened here?”

If the queen knows the truth, it may very well be the last day of our lives
. Sonia lied, “It was Aleister, when the rest of us came here we saw he was fighting against Albedo and Angelione and we joined in to fight.”

Drake was no fool; he could feel they were hiding the truth from him. No Pureblood could stand against the power of
one of the Kings of Awakening. Even Albedo, who possessed the power of the Elder, with his team together would not be enough to scratch Aleister. Something was wrong, he thought. “Aleister did all this huh? It’s hard to believe you all are still alive.” He looked around and saw Albedo lying unconsciously. “I must report to your highness.”

Aleiste
r
teleported himself back into his hideout, his body was badly hurt. He needed blood to get his energy back; with it he could use his Reawakening for instant regeneration. As soon as he had teleported back to the hideout, something wasn’t quite right. He looked around the room to see it was filled with men with cloaks and masks on their faces, with the symbol X. He looked up to see the real Dmitri, without his mask on.

Dmitri had never seen Aleister like this. The man had tried so hard to hide his weakness, but now, he was exposed. He was so weak that Dmitri could kill him before he could teleport, without the Reawakening his teleportation will not be as fast.  “Aleister, what happened? Was it Albedo, did you get him?” he said worryingly but in a slightly mocking tone.  This was the moment he had been waiting for, for years he had been taunted by Aleister’s power. “So tell me, Aleister, was he as strong as you thought he would be?”

Aleister responded, “I still need him to be stronger. I had to hold back my power against him. I cannot say the same for him.” Aleister smiled, “But soon he will awaken his true self, I’ve been waiting for too long!” He looked at Dmitri. “Dmitri, is your plan ready?” asked Aleister.

Whatever sort of plan Aleister and Dmitri were planning, Albedo was right in the middle of their dark and twisted plot.

“Yes Aleister, everything is in place.” A smile crept on Dmitri’s face now. “It’s a shame that Vincent had to get caught, but I suppose it’s all part of your master plan Aleister?”

“Blood, I need blood,” said Aleister.

Dmitri walked closer to Aleister with a bag of blood. He handed the bag to Aleister, but before Aleister could take it from him, Dmitri said, “You see Aleister, there’s been a change of plan.”

Aleister said, “How’s that so?”

“You see Aleister, from the beginning I have been calculating and planning on ways of killing you. And then, I stumbled on something interesting.  I found a new way to gain a new source of power that was hidden away from this world.”

“O really?” said Aleister.

“The Kings of Awakening are the past, and I am the future.”

Aleister smiled, and then he laughed, “So you did drain the human’s blood and sucked out their energy life-force. Are you planning on drinking it all, the blood you collected to gain the power of the Immortals? Be careful what you wish for, Dmitri, this power will destroy you before you can utilize it, and as for your betrayal towards me, I had already forsaken it.”
