Kings of Awakening Vampires and Purebloods (58 page)

She turned around and asked Albedo, “Hey, what were you two talking about?”

He answered, “Oh nothing, he wanted to let me know I needed more training.”

Sonia made Albedo go back to sleep, but after a while he was woken up by Dante and Axil trying to get in the room. When Albedo opened his eyes he saw Sonia trying to force them out of the room. “It’s alright Sonia, let them in.”

“How’s it going partner? Hope you’re feeling better now!” said Dante enthusiastically.

“Actually I’m doing much better.”

“Swing your arm around!” said Dante.

Albedo swung his arm around, “That hurts a little.”

Axil started to chuckle.
They had come to cheer him up.

Sonia pushed them out of the room, hoping to give Albedo more time to rest. “The two of you, get out! Let him rest for a while longer!”

The other patients were not pleased at Sonia making a loud noise. “Keep it down girl; we’re trying to sleep over here.”

Dante and Axil continued to try and get in. “C’mon Sonia just let us in, we promise we’ll be quiet.” said Axil.

Albedo started to laugh as Sonia continued to overpower the two of them. She closed the door, and asked for them to come back later.

Kin
g
Victor increased security throughout the border after he received news that Aleister murdered the queen. The news sent chills throughout his kingdom, and soon the world. The people had long feared, feared the return of the true Kings.

“The Queen is gone. This can only indicate one thing, Aleister is moving with his next step,” said Jarvis.

Jarvis, the King and Viper sat at a table that was set in the throne room. Viper sat with his cup in his hand, the man loved to drink
his tea.

“Her throne was left with no one to take her place. Those that are in line are too afraid to even call themselves the next King,” said Viper.

The king looked weary; the news had kept him awake all night. “Her Kingdom is now in chaos, the people have no ruler to keep order. If someone claims the throne, Aleister would just kill them.” He thought about King Henry, will he march to take her vacant seat? Taking her land would surely strengthen his influence and power. Victor long thought about taking over her kingdom, but what would the others think? His Black Reapers were there when the queen was killed. Would they think his Reapers assassinated the queen and framed Aleister? The king stopped pondering as he heard the sound of the throne door being opened. Angelione and Sonia came in.

“My lord, it’s not too late, we can still kill Aleister,” said Angelione. He almost had Aleister; he had the chance to kill him. Aleister had somehow gone inside of his mind and brought out a memory he had kept hidden.

The king gave him a sharp look, “No. I will not send you or others to go after Aleister. It’s clear to me now… you don’t look for him, he looks for you.”

“If only we still had Dragan with us. His strength would have been useful in aiding
us with this Aleister business,” said Viper.

“My lord,” said Angelione. “I fear that you might face the same fate that the queen dealt with.”

The King got up from his seat. “Angelione! Have you forgotten that I’m a High King? I’m one of the most powerful Purebloods this world has to offer. If Aleister wants to come for me, then let him do so. I will strike him down with a might he has never faced before. I will show him that he cannot put dread in my eyes and I will never give him the chance to.”

It’s been so long since the King had used his ability, or fought. After becoming king all his fighting was done by his Reapers. They wondered if the man lost his edge.

“Our only hope now is the boy, if we can teach him to control his full power. We might have a chance against the others,” said Jarvis. “If we can teach him to control his killer-lust, then mastering the Reawakening will come easy. Even if his memories do come back, he might have a change of heart and fight with us instead.”

Sonia did not like the idea.
Albedo’s memories would turn him back to the ruthless Dawson, but Jarvis was hoping he would change, to embrace the love his new family and friends had given him. She was worried about forcing him to face something he was not ready for.

“So it’s settled then, he will train with Jarvis and the King to teach him to control his killer-lust,” said Viper.

“But my lord,” she said with a firm face.  “He cannot control the Reawakening; he can barely control the Elder.  He allows his emotions to get the better of him and that’s the only way he can bring it out.”

The King had thought about that, “Then I want you around him for a while. Take him back to Inferno; get his mind off the trouble for now. In a day or two, I will call for him; bring him to me for training.” King Victor had one last effort to save Albedo, and this was it.

Sonia looked at Angelione, “What about you, do you also agree that training him right now is the best option?”

Angelione nodded his head.

Sonia left the room to tell Albedo the news, there was nothing more she could do. The King had made his decision, she had to obey.

The King looked at Angelione and said, “Angelione, I want you to do something for me. I want you to go back to the Conalian to report the situation. The people are running wild in the street. Without a head, the kingdom will fall apart. Thieves and bandits will make it their playground, innocents will die.”

Viper, head of the Black Knights
’ Division said, “Angelione. I want you to take some of my Black Knights with you.”

The Black Knights were soldiers within the Black Reapers Division, vampires. There organization was one level lower than the Black Reapers. Only those with strong abilities and a compact intellectual mind can make it to the rank of the Black Reapers, vampires lack brute strength and abilities so only Purebloods are qualified to be a Black Reaper. The Black Knights were vampires who do spying for the Kingdom, rarely they would go on a mission with the Black Reapers. The Black Reapers are so powerful that they only respond to the King himself, this of course happened after the Black Knights came into the picture. The Black Reapers used to report to Viper, but when the Black Knights were created, the King split the two organizations.  He took control of the Black Reapers; and Viper took controlled of the Black Knights. The Black Knights were founded after Dragan and Cecelia had left the organization by Viper himself. He had taught them how to move like an assassin, from spying and killing their targets. Mostly Viper would plant them within a kingdom to spy for him. He’s been trying to plant seeds inside of Odeon for years, but it proved to be impossible. King Henry had a way of finding out who belonged in his kingdom and who didn’t, even with the queen of Conalian, it proved to be harder because she had the ability to read lies.

“It would be an honor, master.” He said with no hesitation. Angelione was surprised that Viper would let him lead the Black Knights, he was honored. He had seen their training once, and thought these vampires had perseverance and were intrepid. Viper’s trainings were brutal, even worse than his. Dante and Axil were always complaining about his training, but these vampires had it worse. Angelione himself could remember the day he had to train with master Viper, how he hated it.

Viper said, “King Victor, did you talk to the legendaries? Will they come back to the Black Reapers division?”

The king had remembered the look on Dragan’s and Cecelia’s face. They were happy with the simple life. “It’s no use; we can’t use them in these critical times, they won’t come back to us.  Aleister and the Numeral Society are getting more active and we must prepare our defensive line.” The King paused for a moment.

“The Numeral Society had long tried to take Atnius from your father. Dragan and Cecelia played a crucial part in defending this great nation,” said Jarvis.

“Dragan and Cecelia were my father’s Black Reapers. I have Sonia and Angelione, and I believe Albedo and his friends will become a part of that soon,” said the king. He had much confidence in Albedo and his friends.

decided to go see Natalia, his beloved. Dante was with him. It puzzled Axil that the noble family left the kingdom because of the fog, and that fog, there was something odd about it. Never in his life have he seen a fog that thick, not only that it killed the crops from the land it crippled it from prosper.

“It must be hard seeing him go through this,” said Dante.

Axil forgot Dante was with him
as he was lost in thought, “It’s always hard seeing a friend go through something like that. Knowing that there’s so little you can do to help, all we can do right now is continue to be his friend.”

“I heard stories, from the elders, how their ancestors had witnessed their powers. T
hey said the Kings of Awakening are not vampires, nor Purebloods, but demons,” said Dante.

“Albedo is not like them, I just know it, now he has to see it for himself,” said Axil.

“I hope you’re right.”

They got to Natalia’s house and Dante wasted no time eating. As always her cooking was delicious, he thought about settling down with a woman who can cook like Natalia could.

“Well, aren’t you guys going to tell me about the mission?” asked Natalia patiently with an intense look in her eyes.

Dante explained to her what h
ad happened. He told her about the Excitaret Quad’s curse, how in a certain points, a lust to kill develops as their second nature. “For someone like the Kings of Awakening, their killer-lust is much higher.”

Natalia had wondered if one day they would end up like Albedo, unable to control their lust also. “What about you Axil, do you have a lust?” she asked. She wanted to avoid talking about Purebloods lust for blood, which doesn’t bother her, but eventually she wanted to talk about it with him. “What about you guys, don’t you have some sort of lust, if it’s not for killing then for blood?”

Axil dropped the fork he was eating with. “Purebloods like me and Dante have lust to bite, but that’s why we have the blood rain to feed our thirst. But Purebloods like Albedo, King Victor, and Aleister, with strong power comes a lust to fight and kill. The stronger you are the more you feel the need to.”

“I’m worried about him, what if he’s overcome by the Reawakening’s lust,” said Natalia.

“Albedo will find a way to control this power, so stop worrying so much,” said Dante.

Albed
o
was now doing much better. The nurse had come to see him twice a day, and made sure he had everything he needed. What he needed was food, and lots of it, but instead they fed him blood. After she had cleaned his room, changed the sheets, and mopped the floor for him. Albedo liked talking to her, she was interesting. She told him that she loved to eat sweets, which reminded him of Sonia. That girl could eat sweets all-day.

An hour or two passed by and Sonia came to see him, happy that he was feeling better now. She had that look on her face; Albedo remembered them from training with her. They were always serious looks, like it’s time for more training.

“Pack your bags, now that you’re feeling better it’s time to go back to Inferno.”

Well, I guess that means no training
. “So soon?” Albedo wanted to continue chasing after Aleister. The power that he felt was overwhelming, he wanted more! He wanted to face Aleister again, and again, and again.

She hesitated but said, “Yes.”

Albedo and Sonia left and went back to Inferno. He had not told his parents what had happened, but had the feeling they already knew. When he got there his mother was thrilled to see him.

“It’s good to see you back
home where you belong,” said Cecelia.

She hugged and kissed him, he was feeling embarrassed as she
did so right in front of Sonia. But Sonia thought it was sweet, a mother showing affection for her child.

“If I knew you were coming today, I would have made your favorite dish!” He was always on her mind.

“Its fine mother, I’m not really hungry.”

That was a first
, thought Sonia and his mom.

“I’m going to my room,” said Albedo.

“Where’s Dragan?” asked Sonia.

“He’s back at headquarter.”

Albedo was going to have to get used to hearing his dad called Dragan. He and Sonia left to his room, where he laid down on his bed. Sonia sat by the window with the wind blowing through her hair. Today was windy and he could watch her all day.

“It’s beautiful how the sky is very calm, I wish I could fly sometimes.”

He thought about what Sonia said, and wondered if he had flown in his past life. Did he have the ability to fly, breathe under water? What were the other Kings of Awakening like? Were they as evil as they say, ruthless as the legend told?
Yes,
thought Albedo. He had witnessed what he and Aleister were capable of. With power comes battle, with battle comes blood, and with blood comes death. He had long wondered how many horrors he had caused, how many fathers he had taken. To Aleister it was all just part of life, killing meant nothing to him. He had accepted death as if it was Mother Nature itself; others lives were futile to him.
