Pressure Point (Rhinestone Cowgirls Book 3) (15 page)

By the time he came in carrying a tray full with plates, she’d drank half her second beer and was feeling pretty good and relaxed. He placed both plates on the coffee table and discarded the tray on the couch. She looked at the meal and her mouth salivated. He’d thought of everything. Steak. Baked potato. Corn and salad. “It smells delicious.”

He took a seat on the floor. And against better judgment, she joined him. She carved into her steak, pushed it into her mouth and chewed. Several deep savory flavors burst on her tongue. “Oh my. I think this is the best steak I’ve ever had.”

He smiled proudly. “Thank you. Better than those fancy upscale restaurants you ate at with Nazarene?”

“Five times better.” She wiggled her brows. “If ranching wasn’t in your blood, you’d sure make one helluva chef.” She dug into her salad.

“A man learns quick how to feed himself.” He winked. He brought a forkful of steak to his mouth.

“Is this all to impress me or just feed me?” She asked.

“A little of both, honestly. Are you impressed?”

“Very.” She was seeing a new side to Nash and liked what she saw. Not only did he have sexy looks, but he was talented. She could only imagine that his talent didn’t end in the kitchen.

Nash watched Em eat and he wanted to touch her. Better yet, he wanted to lick the drop of steak sauce abandoned at the corner of her lips. She darted her tongue out and lapped it up. Fuck! There came the hard on again.

She had the prettiest mouth…

Shit! Shit!

He took his last bite of food and pushed his plate away. “One thing I don’t do…dessert. Sorry.”

“No sorry needed. I couldn’t eat another bite.” She dropped her fork to her plate. She almost ate as much as he did. “I swear I’m a human garbage disposal.”

“I think it’s pretty sexy seeing a woman eat. Most nitpick around on their plate, afraid for a man to actually see that they’re human.”

“Well then, you’ll certainly see that I’m not a nitpicker.” Her eyes dazzled in the firelight.

He wanted to throw caution to the wind and lean closer and kiss her. Would she protest?

She was so freakin’ pretty. And she liked his cooking. The biggest compliment was to see a woman eat his meal. Before he thought about the consequences, he reached over and took her smaller hands into his. “Wow, you’re hands are so small, especially compared to these ugly old things.” He jerked his hands back.

Catching him off guard, she took his hand back. “These are not ugly hands.” She traced his thumb down to his palm and the deep lines. “Ooh…I see a very bright future here. Is that Katy the barista I see? And two and a half kids?” She smiled.

He winced. “You read palms?”

She sighed. “No, but I don’t need to when it comes to you.”

“Well, maybe if you did you’d see that you’re full of shit. There is no Katy and me, and never will be. You gotta quit trying to force her onto me.”

“But she’s pretty, sweet, and you have the hots for her.”

“I did have the hots for her. You’re just doing this so you don’t have to face the truth.” She continued to hold his hand.

“And what truth might that be?”

“That I want you and you want me,” he growled.

“Oh, what an assumption. Did you think one meal and I’d be after you?”

“No. The meal was to satisfy hunger and to impress you, remember? Not to get into your pants.”

“What are you doing, Nash?” she whispered.

“Told you, I’m not good with dishonesty. I say it like it is.” Blood rushed to his dick, leaving him spiraling.

Em jolted her hand away from his. He sighed at her sudden cold nature.

What the hell had he gotten himself into?

One of the sexiest women he’d laid eyes on sat before him, looking at him with melty chocolate eyes and a bottom lip that wouldn’t stop quivering. He wanted to stop the trembling, ached to stop the trembling, but he needed to move slowly. He’d just professed to her that he ‘got her’. As sappy as that was, he spoke the truth, from the heart. That’s why in the end he’d decided to throw caution to the wind and come here to be with her.

“I guess I should stop trying to fix you two up.” Her eyes twinkled.

He moaned. “Yeah, and that keeps bombing.” He touched her cheek, smoothing the tips of his fingers across her smooth skin and following the fullness of her bottom lip. The trembling finally subsided.  Then her shoulders twitched, maybe more of a shiver? “Are you cold?”

“No. Yes. I really don’t know.” Her voice shook.

He dropped his hand to her collarbone, tracing the feminine line. His cock pulsated in anticipation. He’d never wanted a woman like he wanted her.

“What is going on here, Nash?”

He swallowed. “I don’t know, but whatever the hell it is, it feels right.” He forced his lungs to work. “If you don’t feel the same, now would be a good time to push me away.”

She didn’t.

Instead, she swept the tip of her tongue over her lips, making his desire grow. His cock grew and his zipper bulged in painful anticipation. She reached up, took his hand and lowered it to her chest. He could see the outline of her hard nipples under the material. His mouth salivated. He wanted to lick every inch of her, starting at her breasts.

Flicking the pad of his thumb over one nipple, she closed her eyes and her mouth parted slightly. A moan dripped like honey from her tongue. To him, the small, but powerful, sound was an invitation to lick, suck, nip…to bring her pleasure. Her erect nipples practically begged his tongue to sample. He swept his hand lower, skimming the fabric of the jean shorts, and to her bare thigh. Her skin rippled with goosebumps.

Another noise slipped from her throat. It almost sent him over the edge. Heat radiated between them, drawing them into a clutch of pure erotic sensation.

Her eyes came open, she stared up at him. “There’s nothing that can come of this, Nash.” Her words should have extinguished his need, but instead it created a scorching inferno through his veins. What man wouldn’t want a free and clear tumble in the sack? He should be happy. Why wasn’t he?

He had a feeling even if nothing came of this but one night of passion, he’d still come out on the lucky end of the straw. Turning back wasn’t an option. They had crossed into a path that drew them closer to nirvana.

Her warm, passion-filled gaze made his chest ache. Her eyes were warm. Her cheeks were dusted with pink and her lips were moist.
Fuck
. He wanted to see that look on her face all weekend.

“I want you. I can’t see this desire going away unless we put out the flames,” she whispered.

He swept his hand upward, along her inner thigh. Heat from the apex of her thighs warmed his knuckles. Hell yeah…hot and ready.

He’d dismiss any thought of tomorrow. He didn’t care about anything except that he wanted her in a bad way. He wanted to pleasure her as well as be pleasured. They could figure out the finer details later.

“Let’s go upstairs,” she said.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

THEY TOOK THE stairs together. Em holding his hand and guiding him. Her body heated and her head spun. A heated throb pounded her inner thighs. She needed Nash’s touch.

She looked at him, he smiled and her heart skipped a beat. How had she gotten here? On her way to the cabin not once had she thought she’d end up with these sweltering sensations rushing through her and a desire to set the sheets on fire. Her attention focused on the intense sensation in the apex of her thighs. She couldn’t remember being so wet, so ready to take things to the next level.

They stepped onto the second floor and she led him down the small hallway and to the door of her bedroom.

None of the men compared to Nash and the feelings he erupted within her.

Now, in her bedroom, she stared at her bed. She’d never shared this room with a man.

She turned and laid her hands on his chest. He smiled, an expression that promised euphoria and bliss. She could only imagine where this man could take her…

The possibilities were endless. This excited her.

She shouldn’t feel guilty. She had no reason to feel anything but elation. Nash wanted her, she wanted him. They could spend the weekend together and walk back into their lives come Sunday.

He wanted things she couldn’t give. He knew that, and he still wanted her—this.

And tonight, she wanted her sheets to be on fire.

She pushed aside the doubt.

He lifted her chin, their gazes meeting. “You okay, darlin’?”

“I’m on fire,” she mumbled.

He chuckled deep from within his chest. “I know the feeling.”

When had any other man looked at her with such desire? Never. His hunger etched lines in his face and she swore she could hear his heart beating. She didn’t care about anything outside of these four walls. She wanted him, like she’d never wanted anything in her entire life.

She lifted a hand and touched his warm cheek, the pricks of his beard rasped her fingers, flooding her body with yearning. She could imagine what the scruff would feel like on her sensitive body.

The muscles in his neck tightened and she exhaled. She dropped her palm to his chest, sliding a finger along the top button of his shirt, opening it. She smoothed the pad of her finger on his smooth, tanned chest. He moaned.

Because he was so tall, she had to stand on her tiptoes to wrap her arms around his neck. She did, and pressed her body against his iron-hard length. The bulge in his zipper pushed against her stomach, where a pool of lust puddled.

“Will you still respect me in the morning” It was meant as a joke but came out as a whimpered request.

“I think we should go into this with eyes wide open and enjoy ourselves,” he said in a deep, raspy voice.

Leaning her head closer, she kissed him, then darted her tongue along his lower lip.

A moan rumbled from his chest. Sparks of desire rippled along her flesh, seeping into her pores. She was swarming in need from roots to toes. His hand came down and his palm fell to her bottom, gently squeezing, dragging her closer. She stared up at him, his eyes turned dark, mysterious, full of an internal war. His fingers played with the hem of her shirt, then he dragged it upward and over her head. The cool temperature of the room made goosebumps scatter across her skin. It didn’t last long. He smoothed his palms along her back and her flesh warmed.

He tugged her hair from the pens and the tresses fell to her shoulders, and he wound his fingers through the mass. Bringing several to his nose, he inhaled and licked his lips. “You smell so good. Like the field of wildflowers up on the hill behind my house.”

His compliment erupted a new level of pressure in her groin. He always said what was on his mind and she liked that. A whimper escaped her throat as he gently tugged her head back, elongating her neck. He bent his head close, licking the slender curve, leaving a moist trail from jaw to collarbone. “And you taste as good as cheery pie.”

Another whimper. More tremors in her lower belly. And she clung to his shoulders as he swirled the tip of his tongue in the hollow dip between her collarbones. Her nerve endings sparked and sent volcanic heat through her veins.

His head came up, his mouth finding hers and he possessed her lips. At first, the kiss was slow and then it took on another pace…one that told her of his hunger. His tongue slipped into her mouth, tasting, sampling, demanding she understand his internal desire. Oh, she understood because she fought with her own that threatened to crumble every ounce of protection she’d ever owned.

She met the thrust of his tongue, fueling and licking. He continued to wreak havoc on her soul with his tongue, and they hadn’t even gotten to the better stuff yet. What would she do once they were naked and they were lying in the bed? She would be a boat set out to sea, waves knocking her around, threatening to capsize. It scared her, yet exhilarated her. She didn’t want to be dragged back to shore.

Nash held no boundaries. He was in this, one-hundred percent. He kissed her with the hunger of a starving man, a man fill of uninhibited passion.

His fingers moved along her spine, slowly moving to the band of her bra. He unsnapped the hook and the material fell loose from her torso.  He dragged it off as a moan escaped him. This was no longer the Nash who seduced her. This was the Nash showing her the pleasure she’d missed out for far too long. The edginess of him excited her. As her bra slipped from her shoulders and away from her body, her nipples pebbled and ached for his touch.
