Chapter Two

About one hour ago, they were having dinner in a nice restaurant.

They ordered walrus burgers (well, a similar animal anyway,) and a few drinks made of seaweed juices.

Bonita turned her head over her shoulder, eyes worried.

Zaak looked up, watching Bonita fidget as his jaws work hard to chew the tough meat.

After the third time, he smiled and chuckled, “What are you looking at?  Some guy super hot, huh?”

“Oh, shush, Zaak…” She leaned over.  “I think someone is watching us.”  She whispered.

“You serious?”

“One hundred percent.”  She turned back to check again.

Zaak looked and saw no one.  “Bonita, you must be too tired.  See, I’m looking in this direction all the time. No movement. And I’m a soldier.”

“Well I’m a soldier too…” she hissed, eyes narrowed, “
And
a woman! My intuition is obviously more highly tuned.”

A waiter brought another course of their romantic meal to the table, disrupting the tension.

“I can’t believe it.  They’re charging me big bucks for these suckers?  I want my money back!”  Zaak bellowed. The food that was brought to the table was decidedly unrecognizable, and sometimes still moving.

He realized right away that he actually asked for it: “I want the wildest place on the planet, the closest to the nature”.  That was why the local inhabitants dug an ice cave as the hotel room for him and his sweetheart bride. This was also why the special dish on the table seemed to be winking at him still.

He cut a tiny piece and put it in his mouth.  Soon, he cut a much bigger piece.

“Is it good?” Bonita asks.

“Boy, you won’t believe it.” He was chewing fast.

Bonita tried.   “Hmmm, not bad at all.”  In fact, the freshness was totally unbelievable.

She picked up a spoon.   The soup was made from an egg bigger than a pancake.

‘Testudina egg soup, a must try’ huh? Who the heck prepared this menu?
  She shook her head, smiling.

She knew that she couldn’t convince Zaak. There was no proof that they were being watched. She didn’t receive ESP training to sense things by mind, so there was no way she could have felt real telepathic tremors. Bonita shuddered. It was just that feeling, of eyes staring into the back of her head.

What she didn’t realize was that she had subconsciously seen a suspicious reflection on the icy wall.  It could have been an enemy, or a waitress walking by.   But her instincts were right. They were being watched.

All Bonita wanted now was going into their room and shut the door tight.  She knew that Zaak was strong and well trained.  But without any weapons, he was just a regular guy with fists and teeth.

The army had wanted to send guards in with them, but Zaak had refused.
This is not a military operation. It’s a
honeymoon.
“Le Jura is one hundred percent safe.”  He insisted.

He had a good reason to have such confidence: It was he, the Commander General of the army, who led the war to defeat the vicious tribe Canivuuro on the planet.  With the bad guys locked in the ice dungeon, the planet was as safe as his backyard at home.

At least that’s what he thought.

Before landing on Le Jura, he brought his new wife for a quick fly-over of the planet.   “See that area?” He smiled.

“Yeah,” Bonita looked at the steamy lake in the middle of the ice terrain. She had just learned from her proud husband that the steam comes from hot springs.  Anywhere steamy is a paradise, perfect for a great vacation.  “Beautiful, isn’t it?”

She looked at her hubby but saw a taut face. Her heart sank.  “Zaak… You… okay?”

Zaak turned back, looking at her.  “Sorry, I’m a bit scared of the landing.” he mumbled, giving her a tight smile.

Bonita knew it that wasn’t it.  But she didn’t say anything.

There was no way he would be scared.
See, Zaak just told her that the family sized Lamborrari they were in was the top of the line. Safe, comfortable, luxurious, and smart.  “I can even take a nap while she is landing.”

Zaak knew that Bonita was suspicious. But he just didn’t want to freak her out.

The warm patch of paradise they had just flown over was
supposed
to be an ice dungeon, a prison of the Caludirium Empire on this remote planet.

With one quick glance, Zaak knew that the dungeon had been melted completely by the hot spring water and steam from the ocean floor.

Where did the prisoners go?

Maybe they have been carried away by the water and died in the ocean?

This was his only hope—a hope with a millionth of chances to turn into reality.

Shit.  Fuck.  FUCK!

He swore in his mind, his face turning pale…

The invasion of Le Jura began seven years ago, when the Commander General was only in his second year serving his king. Even then, he was a leading officer, the first commander who began the invasion against the vicious dinosaur creatures on this remote planet.

Le Jura had been used as a military base for a long time.   Well, not quite.  There was no military base whatsoever on the ice caps of the planet.  Instead, the information of the planet was stored in the army database.  Therefore an emergency landing could be conducted.   The pilot could then radio the base for a rescue.

Then one day, the rescue team discovered the remnants of a dead pilot, his skeleton, scored with deep teeth marks dumped hastily in a snow dune.  They entered the fuselage and saw over thirty people dead.  They were missing various body parts.  But there was one thing missing from all the bodies: their hands.

An investigation revealed the shocking tragedy: a crash landing had wounded the crew.   Then the violent dinosaur-like tribe inhabitants came over...

There were two tribes on the planet: Hibvuurorians that liked seaweeds and Canivuuro that refused to eat anything but meat.

Lar DeVito, nicknamed ‘The Shredder’, was the chief of the cannibal tribe.  His favorite feast was hands, or claws, because “they’re so fucking chewy, he-he-he…”

The battles were tough.  Every Canivuurorian was a soldier.  They used sneaky guerrilla tactics to attack and escape.  With their fatty and amphibian bodies, they could hide in an ice cave or under the cold sea water for hours, waiting for a perfect chance to attack.

These barbarous fighters were about the same size of Caludirian soldiers.  But with far greater knowledge of Le Jura’s weather and terrain, they seemingly came out of nowhere in the dead of night to drag the soldiers into the bone-chill sea water.

The army suffered heavy casualty but Zaak managed to win the war: he sent submarines to circle the enemy and then used underwater bombing to force them out.

Lar DeVito and his notorious Epic Troopers were sentenced to death.   It had been Zaak’s recommendation to simply freeze the entire tribe “To show Your Majesty’s mercy.” They would use their ultra-low temperature technology and then seal them in a huge ice cave as a permanent dungeon.

The King happily accepted his Command General’s brilliant idea.  He needed the propaganda for his vast universal colonies.

This war won Zaak a national name and silenced all the skeptical voices on whether the young general was capable of his job.

But now, he has to face up to the serious consequences that the dangerous cannibals might have escaped.

Fuck, FUCK, FUCK!

He almost bangs his head with his huge fist.

He knows that he should cancel his honeymoon and report to the King immediately, but he doesn’t want to disappoint Bonita. He also needs some time to think about what to report and how to deal with the crisis.

There were more than a few up and coming soldiers vying for his position amongst the ranks, not to mention the press is always bloodthirsty for any gossip about him and his illustrious family.  Without a strategy, his military career is doomed, as well as the name and glory of his family for so many generations.

Chapter Three

The evening breeze is wet and cold.   Bonita walks faster.

Their hotel room is only a minute or two away.   In fact, it’s a stand-alone, huge ice cave carved with splendid decorations.

“I want everything absolutely perfect for you, Honey.”  Zaak had announced to an absolutely shocked Bonita when they had first arrived on Le Jura Resort.

Bonita is so eager to go back to that beautiful room.  It’s warm, cozy, and… safe.
Yup, safe.
Splendid or not, she doesn’t care at all.  Should she have a choice, she would have stayed in her cabin in the warship.
I swear I will.

“Hoof…” “Ouch!” Bonita almost drops to the ground.  A shadow zoomed by.  More are following.

“Fucking bats!” Zaak swings his huge arms, knocking out a few of the small twittering animals. Zaak grimaces when he realizes the slightly fuzzy beasts were no bats at all, but small, furry dinosaurs.

“My toes!” Bonita whines, kicking off her heels.  She should have worn a pair of platforms instead but the diamond-laced heels were just too tempting.

She removes her blouse and then rushes to the mirror to check.  Turning a few times, she doesn’t see any wounds by the bats.  “Thanks God.”  She swears that she will never stay outside again in the dark.

“Home, dream home.” She drops her body onto the large bed, spreading her limbs wide.  “Z-a-a-k, c-o-m-e…” Her happy tune is so soft and pleasant.

“Sure, I will, Honey.” Zaak tries to squeeze out a smile.

In the last couple of minutes, he has thought about everything.

First of all, the hope for the Canivuurorians to die of drowning is unrealistic.  They are amphibians.   The moment their bodies touch the water, they will swim automatically.

Then secondly, he will have to report to the King what he observed and more importantly, what needs to be done to fix this terrible mistake.   A new war is needed; or at least a level-one warning needs to be sent out to the troops.
Maybe some patrolling is needed too on the planet?

He wants to be absolutely honest and take all the responsibilities.  Yeah, the ultra-strong volcano activity was out of anyone’s expectation.  But it was him to come up with this silly idea to freeze the captives, right?

Thirdly, he needs to be back to the Kingdom as soon as possible.  Any delay is a greater danger to the Kingdom army.

But what about Bonita?  She is now having her dream honeymoon.

Zaak thinks for a short moment and then makes up his mind.  She used to be a soldier herself.  She would understand.

A plan comes into Zaak’s mind quickly: Take a close look from the air tomorrow morning and then go back.   He needs more details to report to the King.

“Z-a-a-k, c-o-m-e h-e-r-e…”  Bonita’s voice is cock hardening.

“Sure.”
Damnit, why can’t I be more cheerful?
  Zaak hates himself.

He takes a long breath to calm down.  Before he opens his mouth to say something romantic and cheerful, a heavy “thump” sends his heart flying out of his chest.

He steps back, looking at the source of the noise.
Shit!
It’s not any enemy jumping down from the ceiling.  It was a small piece of ice dropping along the wall.   The heating is melting the ice in the cave bit by bit.

“Z-a-a-k…” He turns to the voice and his eyes land on a stark naked Bonita.
Holy smokes!
His cock rises at least a quarter inch though still soft.

“Give me a sec, okay?” He puts up a smile and looks around.

He wants to makes sure that the room is one hundred percent safe.

Yup, the door is locked.

Um…, okay, no one is at that corner.  I’m… sure.

What about that closet?

The closet is huge.  A couple of guys can easily hide inside.  He approaches the closet with care.

“Honey, I’m here…” Bonita raises her leg high.

“Ah… yeah, you look so… sexy.  Oh, wait, baby, let me… um… grab my bathrobe.”

“Oh, no, you don’t need a bathrobe.  I want you to be naked.  Like me.  See…”  She switches to a sexier pose.

Goddamnit, please stop!

“Ah, yeah, Honey, you’re so… um… sexy.   Just give me a sec, okay?”

“No, I don’t have a second.” Bonita twists her body, beckoning.

Zaak raises his chin towards Bonita.  He tried to toss her a kiss but his facial expression is hard as a chicken in the freezer.

He holds the handle of the huge cabinet and counts: three, two…
