He looked at her. “When I made you kiss Jake, I know you were pissed. Angry I didn’t believe in you. But I told you I knew what you were facing because this assignment was way out of my comfort zone.”

Kate tensed as her mind flew. “You had to kiss him. Jake.”

“Yes. In public, on a crowded dance floor. Someone had questioned our relationship, and Jake had decided this was the only way to convince them. I froze. I couldn’t do it. All I could think of was my uncle and how he’d kill me when I came home and how this was going to turn me. Stupid, it was.”

“What did you do?”

Jake cleared his throat. “I told him to pretend I was a beauty queen, with a scruff.”

Chase looked at Jake in the mirror again. “He told me he loved me, as a brother, and if I had siblings, I’d understand it was okay to kiss a brother if I had to. So I did.”

Kate smiled at Jake. He could be so sweet at times. And then the mental image of Chase’s lips touching Jake’s, both men she loved so dearly, rocked her to the core.

An instant flame of excitement flared, and she struggled to keep her breathing in check. Her pussy dampened, and she pictured them again, arm in arm, on the dance floor in the smoky haze. Chase so tall, dark, Jake a little shorter, blond.

“I’m sorry, Chase, but I find that really hot. I know that’s probably not what you want to hear—”

“You think Jake kissing me is hot.” He stared at her as if she had two heads.

“I’m wet from the thought. You want proof?”

“I guess I never thought of it as being arousing for a woman.” Chase shook his head. “I’ll tell you, though. We never had sex. I didn’t have to go that far, and if I had, I would have come home and killed my boss.”

Kate squeezed his thigh. “You’d be hot if I was kissing another woman, wouldn’t you?”

“God, yes.” Chase put his hand over hers and returned the squeeze. “The interesting thing I learned in Paris was that Diane was the first woman who didn’t want me for my looks. She wanted my money. I never told you my family is loaded. She wanted and wanted and then wanted alimony when it was over. She didn’t get a dime, though.”

Kate shook her head. “I have my own money. No fear there.”

He looked in the mirror at Jake again, still nervous. “I owe you an apology, buddy.”

“Okay, but why?”

“Remember when we were out once, Pierre took our picture with my phone? Well, he took one of us kissing as well. I asked him to.”

He glanced at Kate. “This was a few weeks later, and I was more comfortable. Still scared as hell to go home, but I trusted Jake enough to let the love I felt as his friend, a brother, to show.”

Chase looked at Jake again, and his Adam’s apple bobbed, hard. “I bought a second phone, a disposable. I sent those pictures to that new phone, and then sent them to Diane, with a quick text. Something to the effect of ‘this is what your husband does when he’s not with you.’”

“Oh, Chase,” Kate whispered.

“Diane thought you cheated with me?” Jake sat back and stared at the ceiling. “Well, that makes a hell of a lot more sense. She’d left this rambling drunk message about how she hated me and always knew, and I was an asshole.” He met Chase’s gaze. “You got your divorce. That’s all I care about. That bitch set you free.”

“You’re not pissed?”

“Hell, no,” Jake said. “I just wanted you to get out. I thought you cheated on her with someone at the club, and I knew it would kill you. If you can feel better about what you did this way, then I’m fine.”

Chase turned to Kate and kissed her hand. “I’m sure it doesn’t surprise you that I feel a little less tense now. That’s been bothering me for three years. No. That’s been bothering me since I was sixteen.”

Kate shrugged and gave him her best smug smile. “I told you that you were wound too tight.”

But he still looked unsure as he said, “You wanted me to share. I did. Do I get a prize?”

She smiled at him, so proud. “Yes. You get first choice to stake your claim on me tonight.”

“I’m jealous of that, but I guess since you are his, he should get to be the hostess.” Jake cleared his throat. “And before we go in, I want to say thank you. Thank you for including me, Chase. Kate. This means the world to me.”

Chase gave him the glimmer of a smile. “I’m sure it does, Mr. Word Shark.”

Chapter Twenty-One

The club wasn’t at all what Kate expected, though she didn’t really know what she expected. They entered into a very formal foyer, with a cranberry and gold Oriental rug. To the right was a dark hall with disco lights, the bass pumping as couples danced. Couples crossed the foyer in evening wear, laughing. To the left was a bar area and the lights were dim, glasses clinking, the conversation a dull murmur.

“I can handle this,” Kate said to Chase as he took her arm.

“I’m sure you can.” Chase glanced at Jake behind her back, but she caught the exchange. They approached what looked like a hotel desk in the back. “Room for Bishop, fourth floor.”

“Ah, Mr. Bishop.” Then young woman nodded at Jake, and Kate thought she blushed just a bit. “Jake.”

Jake grinned that cocky grin of his and Kate wondered how many times he’d made this woman scream his name.

Chase cleared his throat. “This is my girlfriend’s first experience. I hope the room is ready to my specifications.”

She looked at the computer monitor. “Yes, Mr. Bishop. It’s all set.” She smiled at Kate. “Have fun.” The look she gave Kate was something akin to, you’d be nuts if you didn’t have the time of your life.

Chase took the key card and they went to the elevator. The two guided her in, and Chase swiped the key card in a machine and punched the floor number. She watched the floors go by, and frowned when both Chase and Jake took her each by the arm on their appropriate side, their grips firm. And when the doors opened, she knew why.

This floor was sin, debauchery, and decadence rolled into one. One nearly naked woman was being led on a chain by a taller, older man in black leather, her eyes downcast. A man was being spanked over a bench by a woman in lingerie.

One section reminded her of a medieval torture area. Those who had on clothes were scandalously clad in a way that made her blush but tingle with a different need. Kate felt overdressed as the guys firmly made her take a step out, into the lobby.

She planted her feet. “I don’t think I can do this.”

“Easy,” Chase whispered in her ear. “We won’t do this to you. Just get down the hall, and it’s all private.”

“Have you done this?” She looked up at Chase on her left, then Jake on her right. “And you?”

Jake laughed in her ear. “Don’t ask questions you don’t want to know the answers to.”

Then Chase steered her down the hall, and the key card was slid into a reader in a door. The room was sort of like a hotel room—again, more cranberry and gold, but very elegant. The bed was huge and draped in more cranberry, but the comforter and pillows were neatly folded and on the bench at the foot. Restraints of all kinds hung from the bed posts—different lengths, different positions.

One wall held an entertainment center with a plasma television and drawers of all sorts. She knew somehow they didn’t hold movies. There were seats, benches, and other things she didn’t know the name of in the rest of the room, all neatly placed. Mirrors lined the ceiling, the walls, and in them she saw what an attractive threesome they made—Jake and her so fair, Chase so dark, all dressed to the nines.

She didn’t know what to do. Would they strip and take her now or let her undress or what? She clutched her purse to her stomach.

Chase went to the long counter and chucked a bucket at Jake. “Go for ice.”

Then he rummaged in the mini-fridge and came out with soda and little bottles of liquor. He set up three glasses in a neat row and looked at her expectantly. “What’s your poison?”

“We’re going to get drunk?” Somehow that wasn’t what she pictured at all. “You have to get drunk to have sex with me.”

“Uh, no. Drinking is usually frowned upon, and you know I don’t like it.” Chase opened a can of cola and poured part in two of the glasses. “But I have to have a drink—maybe two—if I’m going to go through with this, because I am officially scared witless. Jake knows this.”

She smiled, loving him, his nervousness. His attempt to share. “Then vodka and cranberry juice? Not soda.”

Jake returned with the ice and groaned. “You’re a horrible bartender, Chase. Move.” Chase made a gesture of ‘be my guest.’ Jake ditched his jacket, rolled up his sleeves and looked at the selection.

“Do you usually have a plan for this? Who plays hostess?”

“Usually the hostess is the…uh… Well, it’s Chase today, but I’m better at it.” Jake smoothly mixed the drinks and handed her a glass. “The usual?” he asked Chase.

Chase nodded, then assessed her for a moment. Oh, he was nervous. So nervous, and it made her love him that much more. Chase glanced at Jake and then caught one of the little bottles of liquor chucked to him. He opened it and slugged it back, then wiggled his fingers for another.

“No way.” Jake shook his head. “You’re a lightweight. Two drinks only for you or it will be a twosome because you’ll be unconscious.” Jake instead handed him his glass and Chase drank from that, but only taking a sip.

“Shall we have a toast?” Jake asked.

Chase held up his glass. “To us.”

“To us,” they echoed, and Kate drank, the liquid so smooth in her throat, suddenly understanding Chase’s need for liquid bravery.

“Is there a plan?” she managed to whisper.

“Yes, and no. Once it starts, its auto pilot from there. Jake will follow my lead. He knows what to do.”

Even his smile was nervous, small, and he shoved his hands in his pockets, his shoulders hunched a bit. “You’d swear I was a virgin. Jake and I have done this countless times. Why is it so hard?”

“Come here,” Kate whispered to Chase. She grabbed him by the shirt and drew him closer. “I won’t judge you for this. I love you, and anything that happens here is because we all share something so special. So please, just kiss me.”

Chase closed the distance and his mouth touched hers, hesitant at first, tasting of whiskey. Then the tension seemed to leave his arms, and he drew her closer, his lips opening, drawing her tongue into his mouth.

She leaned into him, her hips connecting with his. In heels, she was only an inch shorter. He was already hard against her belly, and she ached with need that had only escalated since the shooting bench earlier. She needed this. She needed him.

Then Jake came up behind her, his lips on her neck, nipping at her nape, his fingers unzipping her dress. It had begun.

Her stomach tightened, and she was afraid to be so turned on by Jake’s foreign touch along her spine. He wrapped his arm around her waist and held her close for a moment, his cock hard against her ass.

It was weird to feel him this way. He’d hugged her before, as a friend. And he’d been hard for her in the clearing, but it was still odd, knowing he wanted her as badly as Chase did.

Jake being there, sliding her dress from her shoulders, excited Chase. She could feel it in the way he ground his cock against her hipbone, one hand holding the back of her head, his fingers tangled in her hair as he kissed her. She trembled and Chase kissed her deeper, more insistent, one hand helping Jake until her dress pooled at her ankles.

They hadn’t even touched anything intimate and yet the moisture flooded in the panties Chase had laid out for her earlier. The bra was black, lacy on the edges, sheer in the cup area and her nipples poked through. Chase’s jacket was rough, even through the material.

Then hands found her breasts, cupping her—Jake’s she thought—and Chase’s slipped to her ass, and it was if they set fire to her insides. A jolt of pleasure so intense ripped from the nipples Jake plucked, right down to her pussy.

Chase’s mouth left hers and he kissed one side of her neck, Jake kissing the other side. They must have shared some signal because Jake’s hand lifted from her breast and Chase’s mouth replaced it, hot and wet through the bra. Then Jake unsnapped the strap at the back and her bra slid from her arms in perfect timing with Chase’s mouth as he slid to her other nipple. Oh, they were smooth.

Her shaking fingers found the buttons on Chase’s shirt and somehow she undid them and tugged his shirt free from his pants.

Jake’s hands were on her stomach, his mouth on the small of her back. His hands dipped down, following the edges of her panties. His fingers inched down her inner thighs, caressing, kneading. Jake stood, his hands running up her sides, along the undersides of her breasts.

Chase’s hands turned her shoulders and she faced Jake. She knew he met Chase’s gaze over her shoulder because something flickered there in Jake’s eyes before he looked down, taking in her form.

“She’s beautiful, Chase. You’re so damned lucky.” Jake’s usual, light tone was gone, replaced with a tone so reverent she found herself believing his words.

“Kiss him,” Chase breathed in her ear. He held her arms, as if he were afraid she’d cover herself or bolt. She wanted to do both—Jake’s gaze was so heated. But instead she leaned back against Chase, afraid that though he commanded it, the action would turn him away from her again.

Chase felt her hesitation and kissed her neck. “It’s okay. I’m okay. You can do whatever you like with Jake. Vice versa. I give you both permission. This turns me on, Kate. I’m so hard, thinking of how much pleasure he’ll give you, and you’ll give him.”

Kate’s stomach tightened, her nerves on fire, her pussy clenching, wanting one of them, both of them, inside her. She swallowed, unable to meet Jake’s gaze as she leaned against his chest, her head on his shoulder. He smelled clean, only of soap and deodorant and she was so thankful. Then she swallowed and looked up.

Jake’s blue eyes were dark with lust, reminding her of a stormy sea. Her breath caught in her throat, and he slid his hand to her cheek, then to her chin. She’d kissed him before. Why couldn’t she do it now? Jake waited patiently, as if he knew this had to be her choice, her move.

“Kissing him doesn’t mean you love me less. It means you love me more.”
