Once we get back to my place, Lilly tosses her purse on the couch and is about to take off her heels. I lift her up over my shoulder and head toward the bedroom.

“Silas, what are you doing? Put me down,” she hollers as she playfully smacks my back.

“I’m taking us to our bedroom,” I say, tickling her side with my free hand.

“Don’t you mean
your
bedroom?”

“No,
ours.
Nothing has been mine since you came back into my life. If I had my way, you would be living here with me.” I smack her firm ass before laying her down on the bed.

I hover over her body and take in her beauty. She is breathtaking and I can’t believe I was so stupid to let her walk away from me once. What the fuck was I thinking? I lean down and take her mouth with mine and slide my tongue across her lips, seeking entry into her mouth. Her lips part slightly and I deepen our kiss. Raising one hand up to the back of her head, I grab her hair and pull her neck back, exposing it perfectly to me. I trail kisses down her neck and use my free arm to slide my hand up her skirt. I let out a low growl and almost nut myself when I realize she isn’t wearing any panties. I look up to her and her eyes are filled with desire and she squirms under me as my hand sits idle just above her center.

“Why are you stopping?”

“This whole time you haven’t been wearing any panties?” My cock is hard pressing against my jeans with the need to be inside her.

“I told you, I was running late, I only grabbed the necessities.” Her tone is unapologetic and she’s biting the side of her lower lip, trying to hide her smile.

“I knew there was a naughty girl hiding in there somewhere. There’s no way all those sex scenes were imagination only.” She lets out a laugh.

“I’ll tell you a little secret. All those sex scenes, they are what I wanted you to do to me since that night in the hotel.” Her admission of fantasizing about me is sexy as hell. The thought of her thinking of me while she slides her fingers into her slick pussy is a fucking turn on.

“Well then I guess it’s a good thing I’ve read your books. I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge.” No longer wanting to talk, I slip two fingers inside her.

I work her with my fingers, slowly adding a third while rubbing my thumb around her clit. Our tongues dance around each other, and as much as I love kissing this woman, my mouth is craving to be elsewhere. I remove my hand from her as I can feel her body tremble as she lets out a whimper from loss of contact. She is so close to reaching her release and I’ll be damned if I don’t get to taste her before she does. I trail kisses down her body and when I reach where I want to be, Lilly adjusts herself up a little. She knows what is coming and is making herself more comfortable. It is by far the sexiest thing I have ever seen. I bring my tongue to her center and move it up and down, tasting her. Lilly starts to immediately moan and her hands quickly find their way to my hair. The tugging and pulling is making my throbbing cock swell and press against my jeans. I have to adjust myself. Lilly sees this and starts to lift her body and I pin her down. I continue to work her center with my mouth, and as I feel her body tremble, she lets go and finds her release. I take it all in and savor the taste of her.

Giving her no time to recover, I kick off my jeans and boxers and make quick work of removing the remainder of our clothes. Lilly grabs my cock and starts to stroke it as she brings her mouth against mine. I place my hand over hers and allow my hand to flow with her stroking rhythm.

“Let me inside you,” I growl, needing to connect us. As I’m about to push inside her she rolls me over and pins me down on the bed. She follows my lead and kisses her way down my stomach to my throbbing erection. “If you put that in your mouth, I won’t be able to last long.” She takes me in her mouth and starts to lick and suck, not caring about what I just told her. She takes me in deeper, and my God, I swear she is deep-throating me. It’s so good, I feel like she could choke on my dick. I can feel myself getting close and I try to lift her head and pull her away, but to no avail. She shakes her head and hums no, and the vibration in her humming sets me over the edge as I explode in her mouth. She takes in every last drop of me, swallowing it all. She kisses her way back up my body, and when our eyes meet, she gives me a devilish smile and crawls up my body. Watching her like this and feeling every inch of her on my already sensitive cock makes me take a deep breath and I find myself hard again. Rolling her over, I guide myself into her and she quickly matches my pace as we make love.

We’re both lying in bed totally spent. I’m rubbing Lilly’s back as her head lies on my chest and we’re having general chit chat. I suddenly remember I wanted to talk to Lilly about Ezra’s last name and possibly changing it.

“So, I was thinking. I would really like it if Ezra has my last name,” I nervously await her answer.

Her head lifts up, “I think that would be great. The only reason why it wasn’t on it to begin with is because didn’t know it. I know I suck,” she admits, looking embarrassed.

“You do suck, just not the way you think,” I joke, earning me a playful punch on my chest. “Thank you.” I bring her face into mine and place a kiss on her lips. My phone buzzes and reluctantly I get up to grab it. “I’m on call, it might be the station.” I open the message and see it’s from Kristin.

Kristin: Hey, I’m sorry to bother you but I can’t stop vomiting and I think I need to go to the ER. The meds aren’t helping and I can’t drive. Would you be able to take me?

Once again I feel sick, as I have to leave Lilly to be with Kristin. I feel guilty as I turn around and look at Lilly.

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s Kristin. She needs to go to the emergency room and doesn’t have anyone take her.” I study her face, looking for anger or sadness and I see nothing. Sometimes it’s so damn hard to read her, I fucking hate it.

“You should go; if she can’t drive, then someone needs to. I can get a ride home.” She starts to get out of bed, so I walk over and wrap her in a hug.

“You don’t have to leave, stay here and spend the night. I’ll drive you home in the morning. I’m sorry, I’ll make it up to you.” I kiss her neck and trail my tongue up to her lips, giving her a proper kiss goodbye. Lilly sits back on the bed watching me as I reluctantly get ready to go. I grab my keys and head out to take Kristin to see the doctor.

Chapter 27

Lilly

Ezra’s birthday party is today and I’m couldn’t be more relieved. I’m exhausted from all the planning and running around to pick up everything. The Bounce House has been great and handled the set up for the party. All I had to do was drop off the Cars themed decorations. Silas is picking up the cake and is going to meet me at the party. I haven’t spoken to him much since the other night when he left to take Kristin to the hospital. I know he said I could stay there, but there was something about being left in bed after you just spent hours having sex so he can go tend to his ex-girlfriend. I had Declan pick me up and take me home. Silas was annoyed with me for leaving, but it’s like I told him, it’s not my house and I didn’t want to stay there by myself.

I open the door and Ezra immediately takes off running, ready to play. I yell for him not to run and head to the room reserved for his party. The employee has me look over the room to make sure everything is set up to my liking and see if there’s anything they are missing. I thank the man and put the presents that Silas and I bought for Ezra on the table. When we went shopping, I had to rein Silas in. He wanted to buy him everything in the store. I had to explain to Silas that once you spoil a kid, there is no going back. There will be plenty of birthdays and other holidays for him to buy gifts for.

Looking at my watch, I see it’s 1:45 and the party starts at 2:00. I notice Silas isn’t here with the cake yet and the bakery closes at two. I take my phone out and call him real quick to make sure he didn’t forget. As the phone rings I start to get nervous, and just as I start to think I’m going to get his voicemail, he answers.

“I know I know, I’m late,” he answers.

“It’s okay. Just please tell me you got the cake.”

“I got it, I’m about to pull up. Meet me out front and you can grab the cake and then I’ll park.” This makes me instantly feel relieved.

“Okay, sounds good,” I say as I hang up and head outside. His car pulls up and I reach in and grab the cake from the car.

“It came out amazing! She showed me the cake before she boxed it up, and let me tell you, pictures do not do her work justice.”

“Oh, perfect. Go park the car and I’ll meet you inside.” I close the car door head back in with the cake.

Ezra sees me walking in and comes rushing toward me. I yell for him to slow down and before he crashes into me, Megan scoops him up in her arms swinging him in a circle.

“Whoa there, buddy, you almost knocked over your cake,” Megan says as she’s putting him back on the ground. “You don’t want to ruin your cake before everyone can see it, or more importantly, eat it.”

“You’re right, Aunt Megan. You’re so smart.”

“And beautiful, don’t forget beautiful.”

I laugh at Megan and we bring the cake into the party room and take it out of the box. The baker did an amazing job. The cake itself is two tiers. The outside of the cake on the first tier is decorated with mountains and a sky. The second tier is decorated with black and white checkered squares like a race flag. The top of the cake has a Lightning McQueen car made out of cake. I move out of the way and let Ezra see his cake, and seeing his face light up with excitement makes all the running around worth it. I look around and don’t see Silas anywhere. I notice the party guests start to arrive and I head out of the room to greet them.

After about an hour of chasing kids and making sure everyone’s eaten, I look around for Silas and can’t find him anywhere. I go back to the private room where my bag is and check my phone to see if he tried messaging me, but there is nothing. No calls and no text messages. I slide my screen and unlock my phone and call Silas. I’m very surprised when the call goes straight to voicemail. It is unusual for him to have his phone off, so I go looking for Lucas. I see Kim talking with Laura and head their way first.

“Hey,” waving to the girls, I ask, “Have you seen Silas and Lucas?”

“Lucas is in one of the bouncers. I think he thinks this party is for him,” Kim jokes.

“I haven’t seen Silas at all since we got here,” Laura informs me.

“Huh, that’s weird. He dropped off the cake and went to park and I haven’t seen him since. Would you mind keeping an eye on things? I want to go check the parking lot to see if his car is here.”

“Sure, I’ll go pry Lucas away from the bouncer and see if he knows anything,” Kim says as she walks off.

I head out to the parking lot and look around for Silas’s car when I hear Lucas yelling my name. “Hey, I’m trying to find Silas. Things have been so crazy I just figured he was in the bouncers with you. I tried to call his phone, but it’s off. Do you think he got called into work?”

“I doubt it. If he got called in, I would have gotten called in too. I’ll call the station real quick and see if he’s been called in for some reason. Give me one minute.” He pulls his phone out and walks away. I walk over to the bench out front and sit for a minute, enjoying the silence. Before I can get comfortable, Lucas sits down next to me.

“So … I spoke with the station and he wasn’t called in. But don’t worry, I’m sure he’s okay and has a perfectly good reason as to why his phone is off. I’m going to head back in, you coming?” He gets up, waiting for me.

“Yeah, I’m sure he will be here before we cut the cake.” I hate the uncertainty that displays in my voice, but this isn’t the first time Silas has done a disappearing act on us.

Another hour passes by and there is still no sign of Silas. I keep trying his cellphone and I get the same result every time. Voicemail. I’m beyond livid at this point. Megan offers to keep good on her word to castrate him, but at this point I’ll do it myself. I’m talking to Laura, when suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I see Ezra push a boy who seems to be a little older than him. I excuse myself quickly from Laura and head over to where Ezra is.

“Ezra! You DO NOT push people. Why on earth would you do that?” I scold at him.

“Because, he’s bad boy.” He crosses his arms pouting.

“That’s not for you to decide. What happened?”

“He said my daddy not love me. That’s why he not here.” Tears are welling in his eyes as his bottom lip quivers.

And in that minute, with that one little answer, my heart breaks for my son and my body fills with anger toward Silas. I bend down to Ezra’s level and pull him into a hug. “Buddy, your daddy does love you. Don’t ever let anyone tell you different. I’m sure there is a very good reason as to why he isn’t here right now.” I think to myself, there better be a damn good reason why he wasn’t here.

“Tell you what. Why don’t we go open presents and eat some cake?” I’m hoping that distraction will lift his spirits. But that’s the messed up part, it’s his birthday -- I shouldn’t have to be lifting them in the first place.

“But Daddy will miss it.” Tears fall down his face as he sniffles.

I wipe the tears away from his eyes and tell him, “It’s okay. We will record it and show it to Daddy later. Now come on, lets go eat some of that chocolate cake.”

He sniffles and agrees and I call everyone to the room for presents and cake. Once everyone is in there, I light the candles on the cake and we sing happy birthday to him. I tell Ezra to make a wish and he closes his eyes and blows out the candles.

“So, where’s Silas?” Megan whispers in my ear as I’m cutting the cake.

“I haven’t got a clue. I can tell you one thing, when he does show up, he better pray I don’t have this knife in my hand.”

“Well I’m really going to enjoy making good on my word to him, since he fucked up again.” She takes a bite out of her cake.
