His fingers slide up the sides of my face and he forces me to look into his eyes. The pain in his tawny eyes mirrors mine and I can see that he’s been dreading having to break my heart like this.

God damn you, Jesse.

The front door creaks open. Jesse pushes me away. A pair of boots thump against the floor and a zombie resemblance of Eric pauses in the doorway. He looks horrible. His hair is tangled, his clothes hang askew, and there are dark circles under his eyes. He rests his arm above his head on the panel and gives me the most devious smile he can muster and winks. “Hey hotness.” Jesse’s fists ball up where he stands five feet from me.

“Or should I say hotnesses?” Eric gives Jesse and me a once-over.

“What the hell happened to you?” I ask.

“Crashed at Jazz’s house.” He turns his head to Jesse. “It got a little kinky. But what are you doing back so early? Missed Adam too much?”

Jesse’s face flushes pink. “I screwed up on some terms on the physiology test and I need to learn them before school starts again. There was too much distraction back home.” Eric smirks. “Well, if your pretty little girlfriend’s
anything
like Adam describes her then I’m not surprised.”

“Shut up, Eric, and go take a shower,” I snap. “You look like shit.”

Great. Now Jesse will think that I’ve been confiding in Eric, but it wasn’t like that. We were just talking one night about a bunch of annoying students in class and about one of the girls who has a very piercing voice, and I happened to mention Chirpy.

Jesse pushes past Eric and goes upstairs.

“Did I say something wrong? I’m ever so sorry,” Eric drawls, not looking sorry at all.

“Just go and take a shower,” I repeat and follow Jesse upstairs.

He’s standing by the window, his body and face tense. I have A Life Without You

to kiss and nuzzle his neck quite a bit before he relaxes. I swallow down my own hurt to soothe his.

“There’s nothing,” I whisper into his neck. “Only you.” Jesse moans when I pull his narrow chin over his shoulder and slide my tongue into his hot mouth. He turns around and finds his way under my shirt. His fingertips trace the muscles on my back while his front pushes against mine.

“Adam,” he whispers on my lips. “Fuck me again.” As bittersweet as this is, it’s definitely too good to last.

We do it a lot over the next few weeks. We also fight quite a bit over Chirpy, but then we have hot make-up sex afterwards.

My favorite position is the missionary where I have easy access to kiss Jesse and fondle his body. I also love taking him from behind because I get to grab onto his gorgeous hips and watch as I plunge into him. Jesse loves all of it. I sometimes even wake up aroused in the night and push inside him because I can’t seem to leave him alone. He always responds to me even if he’s sometimes half asleep.

There is no better ecstasy than kissing Jesse and burying myself in his existence. He tastes like everything that is good when I kiss his lips, or lick his skin, or sink his cock into my mouth. It’s all so intoxicating that I feel like I’m floating on air every single morning, day, and night.

“Fuck me, Adam, harder –” he lets out a whimpering cry as I thrust in and out with the perfect view of his naturally tanned ass and toned back in front of me. His phone has been ringing non-stop for a long time and it’s distracting so I pull out. Jesse groans in protest.

“Turn the God damn phone off,” I snap.

I know that ringtone. It’s Chirpy. Jesse’s reduced their phone time to once a week, claiming to be too busy with schoolwork, but I suspect it’s more because he feels guilty for cheating on her.

I’m having the hardest time sympathizing with either of them, though, and try not to be around when he talks to her. I know that
that
makes him feel guilty towards me, and I’m a bastard for secretly enjoying it.

“I was almost there,” Jesse groans as he reaches for his phone and flicks it open.

Chirpy’s voice is higher than usual when she yells. “What took you so long? Did you forget I was going to call? And don’t give me some lame excuse about being busy because you said you

wouldn’t be busy this weekend.”

Man, she’s pissed off. She must know that something’s not right because I know he’s been distancing himself from her. He should just man up and break up with her instead of playing this game of lies. Well, I’ve made it my mission to convince him to break up with her; he just needs a little more nudging and pushing.

“I was just…in the shower,” Jesse says, slumping down on his stomach. I can see the guilt on his face, but I just stare back at him coldly and fold my arms over my chest.

I smirk when he looks away. How would he explain it if I penetrated him while he was talking to her? He might get angry, but I’m irritated and don’t care. He didn’t want me to pull out anyway.

I grab his waist and pull him up. Jesse bites down on his pillow when I shove my cock up his ass.

“Okay, sorry for getting angry. But why did you tell your mom you’re not coming home for spring break?” she chirps so loudly that she might as well be in the room, watching me fuck her future husband. “You said we’d go to the lake,” she adds.

I force my voice back while I thrust into him more vigorously than before. The erotic face he makes as he bites hard on the pillow with his eyes shut tight is so arousing. He holds the phone away from his face, keeping his finger over the microphone.

“Jay? Are you listening to me?”

His arm is shaking badly when he puts the receiver back to his ear. He waits a little longer before speaking, but I’m not showing him any mercy by slowing down.

“The – the purpose of s-spring break is –” He pushes his jaws together and bares his teeth, his eyes clamped shut. I love seeing him like this. I should do this every time she calls.

“Jay? What are you doing? What’s going on? You’re not with a girl, are you?”

I thrust deeper to add little skin-slapping sounds.

“No,” he gasps. “Sorry, I just hurt my leg. Anyway – aa-ah.”
Idiot.

I’m holding back so badly that I can’t keep my own voice down. My breath is ragged and my moans come out in forced back grunts. His body is smoldering under my touch. His muscular…wonderful…sweat-glistening body. I bend over him and bite him on the shoulder to keep from making a sound when I come, slamming hard into him.

“Jay? Are you okay?”

I don’t stop. I’m going to make him come.

“Yeah,” Jesse says between his teeth. “The purpose of spring break is to study, and I really need to –” His back is arched so that his ass is high in the air. The muscles in his arms, his thighs, his back are all tense.

“Anne, I’ll call you back in a minute.” He snaps the phone shut and screams into the pillow when he climaxes. His body convulses a few times before he slides down with me on top.

I kiss his back, every muscle, every bone. I lick his sweat and inhale his wonderful scent. He purrs under my touch, dazed and lax.

“You’re so evil,” he mumbles, his voice muffled by his pillow.

“Mmm,” I murmur, equally drowsy. “Just wanted to remind you why you’re staying here over spring break.”

“I feel bad enough doing this behind her back,” Jesse muffles.

Then break up with her, you idiot. Do you really need to marry that
specific girl?
I want to say these things to him, but we’ve been over it so many times before.

Jesse’s eyes are closed when he turns his head to the side and rests it on his pillow. He has this sweet little smile playing on his lips. It doesn’t look like he feels too badly about cheating on Chirpy. I reach for his phone and switch it off.

“Maaaan,” he groans and props himself up on his elbows. “I
142 Erica Pike

just thought of something.”

I kiss the side of his ribs and make him shudder. “What?”

“Since I’m the one being fucked, doesn’t that make me the woman in this relationship?”

I chuckle against his skin. “You just thought of that now?” Him actually using the word ‘relationship’ with the two of us in mind makes me sigh in delight.

“Ugh,” he groans and slumps down with his hands under his chin.

I pull out and make Jesse turn onto his back. “There’s no woman in a man-man relationship. Trust me, if there was I wouldn’t be here.”

A half smile forms on his lips. “You’re such a woman-hater.”

“I don’t
hate
them, I just don’t particularly like a lot of them.

I’ve had a fair share of them come onto me and it’s so lame to see them try. Seriously, as if short skirts and big cleavages and those fake sounding flirty tones and the silly thing they do with a straw does anything for me. Guys really are dumb if they fall for it.”

“But you can’t blame them for trying; they don’t know you’re gay. You don’t even act gay.”

I glance upwards and sigh. “Most gays don’t act like those glitzy gays, okay? Most gay men are just like straight men, only they are attracted to other men.”

“Fine. Woman-phobic then.” Jesse smirks.

“Maybe I should put you in a short skirt and have you play with a straw, see if that’ll rattle my cage,” I say and tickle his upper tummy.

Jesse squirms and giggles and has to wrestle me off to stop.

“What can I say.” I heave a sigh while I try to explain. “I haven’t had good experiences with the women in my life, namely my mom and grandma. They really weren’t very nice people.”

“I’m so sorry, baby,” he says and then we both burst out laughing. It’s the first time he’s used an endearment on me and A Life Without You
143

although it makes me happy as hell it still sounds funny.

“But will you stop saying ‘woman’,
baby
?” I complain. “My dick’s going limp.”

Jesse stretches his body like a cat under mine. “So? We’ve already had sex, it’s okay for it to go limp.”

“Not when I’m gonna fuck you again.”

I pounce down on him and catch his lips with mine. This takes immediate effect on him and he’s ready to go again.

I really shouldn’t have fucked Jesse while he was on the phone.

If I hadn’t then maybe Chirpy wouldn’t have shown up on the first day of spring break insisting that she stay with him for the whole week. What’s worse is that she’s demanding that I find another place to sleep so she can be alone with him.

Jesse and I were equally speechless when she knocked on our door. Had she come a little later she just might have heard the sounds of love-making, so he was all nervous when he greeted her.

She’s cute. That’s all I can say because, to me, that’s all she has going for her. Long, blond wavy hair, blue eyes, tanned skin, narrow waist and big breasts. She’s so short that the top of her head barely reaches Jesse’s shoulder. I noticed that when she flung herself into his arms and hugged him in a way that made me bite the inside of my cheek until it bled.

I can see why she would appeal to his protective nature, but she betrays her sweet, fragile look as soon as she opens her mouth to speak to me.

“Why can’t you just find another place? I’m sure you can sleep in someone else’s room for a few nights. Or on the couch in the living room. Don’t roommates do this sort of thing for each other when their girlfriends come over? What does Jay do when you have a girl over?”

I have to clamp my fists tight in order to stop myself from telling her that
if
I brought someone over it would be a guy, but I
144 Erica Pike

don’t have to because I’m fucking her boyfriend. But okay, she’s not completely off base. Normal roommates
would
arrange things the way she’s asking, but Jesse and I aren’t normal roommates.

“Anne, it’s not fair to ask something like that,” Jesse says, placing his gentle hand on her small shoulder. “You can’t stay here for a whole week. I mean, your name isn’t on the lease. I could get evicted if someone found out.” Last night was hell. She arrived late, so we all went to bed soon after. I was still in shock and didn’t really react in any specific way.

I just lay down and closed my eyes while Chirpy snuggled against
my
Jesse in his bed, giggling over how naughty it was to share a mattress with him.

But that wasn’t the end of it. Even with my eyes closed I heard them kissing. She gasped at one point, whispering “Jay, where did you learn how to kiss like that?” That’s when my body started trembling and tears sprouted from my eyes even as I tried to stop it. I cried quietly while they rustled on his bed, Jesse gently protesting her advances when he wasn’t tonguing her, saying that he didn’t feel comfortable doing stuff like that with me in the room. As soon as I was sure they were asleep, I crept into the bathroom and quietly cried my eyes out. Jesse knows because my eyes were all red and puffy this morning.

Did he lie? Have they been having sex? Or at the very least experimenting? I don’t even want to think about what she may have been doing under the covers to make him protest like that.

I don’t want to think about her touching the body part that I’ve claimed as mine and mine alone.

“Why don’t I just go back home with you and we can stay there over spring break?” Jesse continues.

“But you said you had to study. I decided to come here so we can be together when you’re not studying,” she chirps, tilting her pretty little head back to look into my lover’s face. “Plus, I want to meet your friends and see what it’s like living here.” In other words, she wants to see if there are any girls Jesse’s been hanging out with. God damn. She
knows

that time on the phone. I just had to go and make those slappysounds. There’s no way she’s gonna leave.

“Yeah, but like I said, it’s not fair to ask Adam to sleep elsewhere, so I guess we’ll just all have to stay here. Maybe I can find a spare bed for you. There’s enough space if we rearrange the furniture a bit,” says Jesse.

“But Jay,” Chirpy whispers suggestively, placing both palms on his chest. “Remember that vow I made?”
