Action plan
Decreasing the mucus secretions is helpful in the short term, while the plan for the long term is to improve your immunity.
EAT/DRINK
Up to 2 liters a day of water, but not ice cold. Water makes the nasal secretions thinner and easier to get out of your nose.
Brown rice, peas, black-eyed peas.
Veggie juices, soups, broths, salads, and other raw fruit and vegetables.
Cayenne, ginger, garlic, fenugreek seeds, turmeric, and horseradish in your cooking may improve elimination.
Raw garlic and freshly grated horseradish may help shift mucus.
Get daikon root from the health-food store and make a daikon-miso soup. Daikon is a fantastic mucus resolver.
AVOID
Dairy products such as eggs, cow’s milk, and cheese.
Alcohol.
Corn, peanuts, eggplant, and wheat.
Sugar.
Baked flour goods.
HERBS AND SUPPLEMENTS
Use sage, thyme, and basil herbs for antibacterial properties.
