He pulls me towards him and I inhale the
fresh scent of his recent shower, he looks good enough to eat in his jeans and
t-shirt, ‘I like the bad boy look,’ I whisper into his ear, ‘makes me want to
straddle you here and now.’

He growls, his hand moving up my skirt
aware of my naked state underneath my skirt, ‘hey,’ I scold him playfully, ‘you
have had your fill, Mr!’ I grin.

‘No Lucy, I haven’t,’ he whispers against
my mouth as his fingers locate my already moist sex.  I groan as he thrusts
inside me, his fingers probing,

‘Jesus Lucy,’ he pulls away, ‘it is
daylight!’ he shocks, as he sucks his fingers as he grins my way sending my
insides throbbing with lust.

I roll my eyes, ‘shit!’ I rearrange myself
before my eyes search around the road outside, ‘I had better go, thank you for
an entertaining evening.’

‘Thank you Lucy, can I call you?’ he tests.

‘No!’ I scold him again, ‘you don’t have to
do all that with me Cameron you are my guilty secret.’ I kiss him gently on the
lips and exit the car.

‘Hi,’ I call up the stairs before moving
into my bedroom.  The house is thankfully empty, I undress and pull on a pair
of jeans and a sweatshirt pulling my hair up into a high bun.  I locate a pair
of converse and grab my bag before moving directly out into my car.  I had text
Kate this morning, when I woke at twelve, as she had text to ask if I was ok as
she noticed I didn’t come home last night.  I text that I stayed at Susie’s but
was fine.

As I drive down to my mum’s, I have a grin
on my face, I am aching all over and am tired but feel so alive.  I won’t be
able to share my evening with anyone, but that is fine, I had fun and let’s
face it Sam would flip out and Kate would look at me with that disappointed
look.  Bloody girl-code crap!

It isn’t until Sunday afternoon that I see
the girls again, I decided to stay at mums too tired to drive the hour and a
half to get home Saturday night.  Mum has a partner now and I couldn’t be
happier for her, Phil was a good man who adored her.  Phil was away with his
friends on a rock climbing weekend so we took the opportunity to spend some
girly time together, we opened a bottle of wine, mum cooked a curry and we
watched, ‘The Notebook,’ which is the saddest film I have ever seen.

‘Well, hello stranger,’ Kate calls as I
enter the kitchen.

‘Hey,’ I reply.

‘You ok?’ She appears anxious.

‘Yes fine, you?’

‘All good.  You sure everything is ok?’ she
regards me closely.

‘Yes, why do you ask?’ I wonder if I am
wearing a face that screams,
I had sex all night!

‘Well, you haven’t been home for two
nights, is it because of Sam?’

‘No, I am fine Kate,’ I insist relieved
that she cannot read my mind, ‘I didn’t expect to stay at mums I just felt too
tired to drive back.’

‘Ok.  This is your house too,’ she murmurs,
‘fuck Sam!’

‘It’s fine,’ I feel even worse now for not confiding
in Kate.

‘Did you have a good time with Susie?’ she
smiles.

‘Yes thanks, how was your weekend?’ I
divert the attention away from me and my weekend activities.

‘Good,’ she appears vague.

‘That’s it, good?’ I push.

‘Yes,’ she looks guilty.

‘What aren’t you telling me?’

She regards me for a moment before
answering, ‘I met up with Leon.’

‘Ok…..and?’

‘And I slept with him,’ she closes her eyes,
waiting for me to reprimand her.

I gaze at her and she peeks, ‘aren’t you going
to scold me?’

‘No,’ I shake my head, ‘it’s your life,
Kate.’

She frowns, ‘well, don’t you care anymore?’

‘Are you for real,’ I laugh, ‘of course I
care, but you are big enough to make your own decisions?  You have both done
your own thing for eighteen months, if you can both draw a line under it and
try again then go for it!’

‘What has happened to you?’ she squints her
eyes and I flush guiltily.

‘Nothing,’ I snap, ‘gosh, I am just being
supportive.’

‘Ok,’ she holds her hands up defensively.
The door slams and Kate rolls her eyes, ‘Scot dumped her last night by the way,’
she whispers.

‘Hi,’ I call, as Sam enters the room.

‘Hi,’ Sam regards me, why does she always
give me the once over when she meets me?  I have on yesterday’s jeans and
sweatshirt, nothing spectacular.

‘Good weekend?’ I enquire.

‘Alright you?’ she eyes me suspiciously.

‘Yes, good thanks,’ I murmur, as I leave
the room, ‘I must change excuse me.’

********

Monday morning, I receive a text from Susie,

Lunch 12.30! x

Oh god, what do I tell Susie?  What if
Cameron tells Simon and I don’t inform Susie?  I don’t imagine he will tell
anyone the content of our sexual escapade but worry whether he conveys to Simon
I spent the night at all. I should have asked him whether he intended to or
not!

I sit with my sandwich and water and wait anxiously
until Susie joins me, ‘where’s Maddie?’ I enquire.

‘She has a late lunch today, I thought I
would take the opportunity to investigate what went on Friday,’ she grins,
‘come on give Luce!’

I cannot prevent the grin that finds my
face.

‘Do not for a minute attempt to lie to me
either, you don’t know how much I know,’ she looks sideways at me.

‘That isn’t fair,’ I smile.

‘Fair or not…. give,’ she demands.

‘What do you want to know?’ I squirm in my
seat.

‘Everything, well not quite everything –
where did you go?’ she enquires.

‘Erm….’ Oh shit, ‘this is between me and
you right, remember the drama’s I have back at the house,’ I warn her, ‘I
haven’t told anyone not even Kate!’

‘Absolutely,’ she nods.

‘We went back to Cameron’s,’ I whisper and
she appears shocked, ‘you are judging!’ I state.

‘No, I am not judging, I promise,’ she
assures me.

‘That’s it! We went back and he made me
some food…’ I flush with embarrassment at Susie’s face, ‘and I stayed over.’ I
relent.

She smiles, ‘see, that wasn’t so bad.’

‘What did you hear then?’ I ask.

‘Nothing,’ she grins, ‘Cameron came around
for dinner yesterday and we questioned him a bit but he wouldn’t divulge any
information, he told us to mind our own businesses.’

‘Susie! You tricked me,’ I reprimand her.

‘But he is after your mobile number,’ she
adds.

‘I don’t know why he is bothering, I told
him not to,’ I scowl.

‘Which is why he is probably digging his
heels in, I informed him I would check with you beforehand.’

‘No, best not,’ I think for a moment, ‘just
in case.’

‘Ok, but in case of what? Just out of
curiosity,’ she probes.

‘Well…..in case Sam or Kate are there when
he calls or texts for one,’ I justify my decision.

‘And,’ she urges, ‘in case you get
tempted?’

‘Yes,’ I admit and she nods her head.

‘It won’t end well if I get involved Suze.
I have to live in that house and we all know that Cameron has a reputation.’

‘I know,’ she agrees, ‘but he is different
with you, Lucy.’

‘Only because I turned him down, now I have
succumbed to his charms things may change.’

‘Hmmm,’ she murmurs looking pensive, ‘does
he talk to you?’

‘What do you mean?’

‘Do you know anything about him?’ she
tests.

‘We chatted all night about stuff,’ I
shrug.

‘Of course you did Lucy,’ she teases
laughing and I grin.

‘Anyway, nothing to anyone you promise?’

‘Of course,’ she assures me.

It actually felt good to be able to chat to
someone about it, albeit vaguely, and I return to my desk more relaxed.

‘Hi Lucy,’ a voice calls as I am
daydreaming at my computer.  I glance up to find Matthew Clark, before me.

‘Hi Matthew, good weekend?’ I reply,
friendly.

‘Not bad thank you, you?’

‘Good, thank you,’ I respond automatically without
allowing any images to appear before my eyes.

‘I wondered whether you wanted to arrange
that drink at all.’ He charms.

‘Sure,’ I robotically reply, ‘when was you
thinking?’

‘Thursday maybe?’ he suggests.

‘Ok, after work?’

‘Yes if that’s ok, meet you in reception?’

‘Sure, see you then.’ I smile, my insides
squirming Matthew was a good guy – not Cameron but there is no future in
Cameron.  A drink won’t do any harm, I cannot get fixated on whether Cameron
will darken my doorstep again it was a glorious experience but it was just
that.

Susie had a strange smile on her face when
I informed her of my date with Matthew, ‘oh lovely, he is a good guy,’ she had
a false brightness to her voice.

‘It’s only a drink,’ I inform her, ‘I am
not going to jump into bed with him.’

‘That’s your business, Lucy.’

‘I just need for you to know that,’ I
press.

‘You are a free agent, Lucy,’ she insists.

‘I know,’ but my stomach drops with the
knowledge that I have zero enthusiasm for this date, despite Matthew being ideal
date material.

Chapter Seven

Kate and I are discussing it on Wednesday
night as Sam enters the room.

‘What’s that? You have a date?’ Sam asks.

‘Yes, just some guy from work,’ I express
vaguely.

‘Oh right. What is he like?’ she becomes
interested.

‘Why?’ I ask defensively, ‘you after my
castoffs?’

‘I was just asking,’ she murmurs.

‘Well, he is a good guy,’ I assure her.

‘Hmmm,’ she murmurs, ‘where you going?’

‘Not sure yet, how’s Scot?’ I am a bitch!

‘How should I know, I dumped him,’ she
informs me as she slides out of the room.

I sense Kate’s amusement, but she says nothing.

********

Thursday morning, I choose my outfit
carefully for my date, even though I am attending half-heartedly.  I dress in a
raspberry colored shift dress and my ankle boots.  I pull my hair into a high
bun and apply slightly heavier make up than I normally would for work.

As I leave the tube station and walk in the
direction of my building a car pulls up beside me.  I glance up and I notice
Cameron standing in front of me looking all handsome in his work suit.

‘Hi,’ I am shocked to find him here.

‘Hi,’ he appears wary.

‘What are you doing here?’ I glance around
the surrounding area, searching for familiar faces.

‘Get in a moment will you, I will drop you
outside your building,’ he utters.

‘It’s only up the road.’ I argue.

‘Please?’

I glance at my watch before shrugging and
moving around the vehicle which I now notice is the BMW.  He climbs in beside
me and I turn to him puzzled, ‘what’s wrong?’

‘Who said there’s something wrong?’ I
cannot quite grasp his mood.

My eyes flicker over his attire and I
receive flashbacks of the weekend’s events.  His lips tilt suddenly as if he is
aware of my train of thought and I cannot contain a grin, he clasps my chin and
leans in for a kiss.  Immediately my insides warm as I deepen the kiss, my hand
finding his hair and pulling him to me, I groan as pleasure surges through my
body.

‘Cameron,’ I whisper against his mouth, ‘we
are in public,’ I remind him as he nibbles my bottom lip my eyes closed heavy
with lust.

‘Hmmmm,’ he mumbles slowing the kiss down,
his eyes staring down at mine, ‘god you look so fuckable right now.’

‘Stop with the talk,’ I pant, ‘I need to
get to work.’

‘Meet me tonight?’ he instructs and it suddenly
all becomes crystal clear.

I sit up straight and observe him, ‘Cameron,’
I warn.

‘Meet me?’ he ignores me.

‘I have a date, I inform him, as if he
doesn’t know!  His eyes darken and he frowns.

‘Meet me,’ he insists.

‘I can’t, not tonight, I promised I would
go for a drink with someone.’ I attempt to be reasonable.

‘Meet me instead,’ he tempts, ‘we can grab
a bite and go back to mine.’

I regard him, confusion etching through me,
‘Cameron, you obviously knew that I was out tonight with Matthew.  Is this
another case of you wanting what you can’t have?’

‘I have been attempting to contact you
since the weekend, you are lucky I didn’t come around to the house,’ he states
stubbornly.
