Green Smoothie Magic - 132+ Delicious Green Smoothie Recipes That Trim And Slim (21 page)

What? Cabbage in a smoothie? Boy, are you in for a surprise. What a way to enhance your nutrition by using yet another green in your smoothies. As usual I am recommending cacao nibs instead of cacao. While cocoa is less bitter, if you want to use cacao, take it easier on the powder by adding small amounts at a time to get your desired result. Carob also gives a great result!

First blend

  • ¼ cup almonds
  • 1 cup of water (almond milk or other nut milk)

Then add the following

  • 1 banana (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 cup mild greens
  • 1 cup cabbage
  • 1 tsp vanilla or more to taste (I like strong vanilla in this one and place 2 tsp)
  • Up to ¼ tsp sea salt
  • ¼ cup cacao nibs (or if you don’t have cacao nibs then add cacao powder to taste, 1 tsp at a time).

Ice and water as desired

66. Tropical Red Rocket

I like the sweet and savory nature of this one. The mango and pineapple give it that tropical feel. As with anything if you have a preference you can change the proportions or eliminate the onion and garlic. I like the variety (and the nutrition) that this recipe brings.

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup mango
  • ½ cup pineapple
  • ½ cup red capsicum
  • ½ cucumber
  • ½ cup broccoli
  • 1 cup rocket
  • 1 small chilli (if unsure start with half)

68. Pineapple Earth-Shaker

I love this adaptable potion because you can play around with it depending on how spicy you love your food and really appreciate the differences. Vary the proportion of strong greens you want to use. You may like to start with 2 cups of mild greens and work your way up on the spice ‘Richter Scale’. Two cups of mustard leaves is not for the feint hearted!

In fact the mustard leaves seem to get spicier the longer I leave this smoothie. On the other hand, 2 cups of watercress is very doable for most people. With the mild leaves I can promise you that this one is another winner from the resident 9 year old (scoring 8).

  • 2 cups greens (mild/mild, mild/strong or strong/strong)
  • 1 cup pineapple (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 stalk celery
  • ½ cup basil
  • 1 tomato
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 cup water

Ice for temperature, consistency and taste

70. Aromango

You can make this one with either mild or strong greens. Its sweet and savory nature lends itself to both. I am very partial to rocket and watercress for this because of the balance with the basil, lime and mango! The avocado softens the mouth feel.

  • 1 cup mango
  • ½ avocado
  • ½ cup broccoli
  • ½ cup basil
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 cup mild or strong greens (try spinach or try rocket/watercress)
  • 1 tbsp onion
  • 1 tbsp lime or lemon juice

Use 1 cup water and some ice to achieve your desired temperature and consistency.
