Lost In Our Darkness (Demons Of Darkness Book 2) (19 page)

“Knock her out.”

He nodded and turned around. He came back a few minutes later with a syringe in his hand. I held Trix down as he jammed the needle into her skin and filled her with enough drugs to knock her out. I held her as she slowly stopped fighting me. Until she went limp in my arms.

I let her slowly drop to the floor as I regained my composure. I took a deep breath and stared down at her as she lay there motionless, before I picked her up and tossed her over my shoulder and carried her to my office and laid her on my couch. I didn’t need her waking up alone. Someone had to watch her, and no one would be able to handle her, not the way I could. They were scared shitless of her, not knowing what she would do. I checked her pockets and made sure that when I finally passed out I didn’t get woken up with a gun to my temple. She was going to be pissed when she came back from this, but there wasn’t anything else I could do. I pulled two knives and a gun from her body and locked them in my desk drawer before sitting down in my chair. I stared at her limp body as she lay in front of me. I couldn’t do anything. I was helpless right now. I didn’t know what to do or think. I picked up my phone and texted Venom telling him to come to my office.

I heard a knock on my door five minutes later.

“Come in.” I leaned back in my chair as Venom came in.

“Anything?”

“Nothing. The security cameras all went out at the same time. By the time they came back on there was nothing, It’s like they had someone on the inside. But there isn’t anyone I can think that we can’t trust.”

“What about Payne?” I asked him.

“Nah he’s too far up Trix’s ass to do anything that would hurt her. Haven’t you seen the way he looks at her?”

“Yeah but I was hoping it was my imagination.”

“What about the new prospect?”

“Nah, not him either, he has too much to lose.”

“Then who?”

“I wish I fucking knew. I need to find my son Venom. I don’t care what we have to do to find him, but we have to.”

“I’m doing everything I can Nix.”

“I know.”

Chapter Twenty Six

One day later….

Two days later….

Three days later….

Four days later….

Five days later….

Nothing. Not a single lead to where my son was. I had gone numb. I didn’t eat, I didn’t talk, I didn’t do anything but pace the clubhouse. Every time a phone rang I looked up at whoever it was hoping it was something that would lead me to my son. But it didn’t happen.

Six days….

Seven days….

Eight days….

Still nothing. I was sick. I was numb and I had slipped into my darkness and not even Nix could pull me out of it. He didn’t try though. He was so far down in his own darkness that neither of us cared to see the light. Because without our son the light wouldn’t matter.

Cheyenne was walking around on eggshells blaming herself. Nitro had started forcing me to choke down food. Making me drink something other than alcohol as I tried to drink myself into a coma. Everyone was on edge wondering where he was and who took him. No one made contact with us saying they were holding him ransom. Nothing. No sign of him, it was like he disappeared out of thin air.

“Nix.” I looked over as Venom called out to Nix. I stared at his eyes and stood up knocking the chair over. “Trix, I need to show you something.”

I followed Nix and Venom into Nix’s office. I paced in front of them as I felt like I was about to vomit. Everything made me want to vomit lately.

“I’m not sure if this is anything but Trey sent over an image. He said this guy that he has done some business with in the past has been seen buying kids’ stuff, as he put it. He said this guy has always been shady. Also we have another lead, it’s closer but still a few hours away. There is a black market child ring a few hours away.”

“Someone go get this asshole, I’ll make the run to find this fucking ring of assholes, they better hope they never had my son there,” Nix growled.

“I’m not staying here. I want to talk to this asshole. I want to know what he knows if he knows anything.”

“Trix,” Nix growled at me.

“No, don’t you dare tell me I can’t do this. This is my son we are talking about. I am not going to just sit here and wait when I can be the one to get the information I need.”

“Fine.” He stared at me. I knew he didn’t want me to go but there was nothing he could do to stop me and if he was going to look into a lead so was I. One of us had to be at both. And he couldn’t be in both places at once. We also couldn’t put either of them off. “Round everyone up. We have runs to make.” Nix paced his office. Fifteen minutes and nothing but pure silence between us. The guys filed in one by one until his office was filled.

“We need to split up. I need three guys to head up to Darkest Desires with Trix and then I need two with me. The rest needs to stay here and keep everyone in the clubhouse. No one leaves or comes in.”

I stopped listening as soon as I relaxed and heard that Nix was sending three guys with me. I would have found a way to go even if he tried to stop me. There is no way I would have been able to continue to sit here and do nothing.

“When do we leave?”

“As soon as we can get ready.”

“I only need to grab my bag. I don’t need anything else.”

“Get ready and let’s roll out. I want this mess over with.” Nix stared at me as he spoke, not letting his emotion get to him. He wanted to find our son just as much as I did. We needed to bring him home. I just hoped that it would be soon.

I walked out of the room and went to find my bag.

We were on our way. It would take two hours for us to get to where we were going and even longer for Trix to get where she was going. Sitting in this van waiting was getting to me. We were so close yet still so far away. As we got closer the more anxious I became. I wanted to find Zaiden and bring him home to Trix. Where he belonged. Find who did this and make them pay. Make them suffer as long as possible as they slowly died. I would bring them so close to death only to bring them back to life just long enough to feel the pain over and over again.

I stared out the window as Venom sat in the back trying to find more information. Something that would tie them to us. Anything. When we finally pulled up the run down house that was said to be where they based operations out of I pulled on my black stocking cap and black hoodie. Venom and Echo doing the same. I double checked my guns and holstered them as Bear parked the van around the corner.

The lights were on in the house but the curtains were closed, making us unable to see inside. We were going in blind. We reached the back door and checked the knob. Locked.

I looked at Venom. “You sure this is the place?”

“Positive.”

I took out a lock pick and worked on the door as Venom was on lookout. It took me a few minutes before I got the door unlocked and slowly pushed the door open. Peeking inside I didn’t see anything. I heard the sound of a newborns crying but nothing that would indicate any older kids. We crept through the back of the house and made our way to where the sounds were coming from. In the living room there was a woman sleeping on the couch. Venom made his way over to her and covered her mouth with a cloth soaked in chloroform. When he was sure she would be out for a while he cuffed her hands with a zip tie and we made our way up the stairs to where the noise was coming from. Three doors that were all open. The first one had three cribs inside. I slipped in and checked the cribs. They were empty. The second one we found a young woman rocking a baby. She didn’t see us right away, when she did she looked like she was about to shit her pants. Luckily she was sitting down and didn’t drop the baby as she jumped.
“Don’t move.” I walked over to her and took the baby from her arms and laid it down in an empty crib.
“I need to ask you some questions.”

She looked at me and nodded.

“Is there anyone else in this house with you other than the woman on the couch?”

She shook her head no.

“Have you seen this child?” I pulled out a picture of Zaiden and showed her. Again she shook her head no. Fuck.

“Are you sure you haven’t seen him before?”

“I haven’t.”

“Who do you work for?”

She looked up at me like she wanted to talk but was scared. “Guerrero,” she whispered.

Well shit. It would have made sense but she was certain she hadn’t see my son.  “And you’re positive you have not seen this boy.” I shoved the picture back in her face.

“No. we only deal with newborns.”

“Thanks.” I looked over at Venom. “Cut cell towers.” He nodded and pulled out a device from his pocket. It didn’t take him long as he pushed a few buttons and slid it back into his pocket.”

Chapter Twenty Seven

The entire drive I felt as though Nitro and Payne were staring holes into the back of my head. I hated this. I hated waiting and not knowing if I was any closer to finding my son. The trees blurred as I stared out the window. The closer we got the more nervous I started to get. Trey and his men had picked up the guy and were holding him until we got there. My hands were becoming twitchy at the thought of making him bleed. I wanted his blood to spill. When we pulled up in the back of Darkest Desires I had to hold on to the door to keep from jumping out.

When Red put the van in park my door was open and with my bag in hand I swung the door open and jumped out. I stalked to the door that led to the basement. I heard footsteps behind me as I descended the stairs. The room was dark except for the single bulb hanging from the ceiling illuminating a man as he sat cuffed to a char with a bag over his head. He wasn’t moving. He was still as though he had been drugged.

I set my bag on the table and opened it up pulling out a set of stiletto daggers.

“Trix. Wait.” Trey stepped in front of me. “He’s drugged. Let me wake him first. You want him to feel what you do to him, correct.”

I nodded as my hand gripped the handle of the dagger. I watched as Trey took a syringe and injected something into him before pulling the hood off his face. I didn’t recognize him. I had no idea who he was. I pulled a picture out of my pocket and walked over to him as he started to stir. I pressed the hilt of the dagger under his chin as I pushed his head up to look at me as his eyes came open. He blinked a few times before his eyes focused on me. His mouth pulled tight as he tried to push himself away from him. He wasn’t going anywhere. The chair was hooked to the floor and the only way he was leaving was in a body bag.

“Have you seen this child?” I shoved the picture in his face. He glanced and looked away just as quickly.

“No.”

“Try again because I think you have.”

He closed his eyes.

“Red?” I looked around the room.

“Trix,” he said as he stepped forward.
