Lost In Our Darkness (Demons Of Darkness Book 2) (18 page)

I couldn’t help but get a hard on as I watched Trix do what she did. I smiled as she stood there watching his life drain from his face. When he took his last breath she let go of his chin and walked over to the sink and dropped the knife inside as she poured bleach over it.

“No need to clean up, Trix. I have men for that.” Angelo smiled from where he stood.

“I clean my own mess up. Thanks though.”

I walked over to the man she had just killed and pulled out the daggers she had left in him and brought them over to her dropping them in the sink as she washed the blood from her hands.

I turned to see Angelo watching us. “You okay?” I asked Trix. She nodded. I walked over to Angelo.

“She is something. Tell me where did you find her. I need someone like her. So innocent looking yet she is lethal. And shows no remorse. Is she always like this?”

“She is. But she is one of a kind and one of us.”

“One of you?” he questioned.

“That right there is Nitro’s daughter.”

“Ahhh but she is something else, isn’t she? I see the way you look at her. What is she to you Nix?”

I looked at him not sure how to answer. “She’s the mother of my son.”

“Always full of surprises, Nix. And what does Zoelle think of her?”

“Doesn’t matter what she thinks. Trix is a part of this club and she isn’t going anywhere. Zoelle knew the life she was getting into when she agreed to marry me.”

“Yes but did you know what you were getting into when you married her is the question. Zoelle is not a—ohhh how do say it—she’s not one to play nice with others.” He laughed. “If you need help dealing with her let me know. I was more than happy to see her leave this place only because I was tired of dealing with her.”

“Yeah she is something else alright.”

“And the baby, how is she?”

“She’s good.”

“Hopefully that little girl takes after you and not her mother.” He winked at me. I was starting to wonder if there was something more he knew about Zoelle that I didn’t. Then again of course he did. He had dealt with her for years before I had even met her.

“I’ll let you finish cleaning up. Leave the body. I need to send him back to his friends.”

I nodded as he walked away, his men following. Red and Venom stood there waiting for them to leave. “You sure that was something you wanted him to see?” Venom asked.

‘Not much we could have done to stop it. It was your idea to bring her. Now you see why I never brought her down here, even before.”

“I always thought it was because of Zoe. I didn’t realize there was more to it.”  Venom looked at me.

“Yeah well, can’t do anything about it now. Let’s help Trix get this shit cleaned up and get on with what we actually came here to do. The van still needs to be loaded and we need to check the shipments and make sure there aren’t any surprises waiting for us.”

We all waited until Trix was done and the smell of bleach was more evident than the coppery stench of blood. I watched her, making sure she was fine. I know she does this shit for us but there is always a reason. This had nothing to do with her other than to show Angelo what we had in our pockets. Pointless. He could have had his guys do it but he wanted to see if it was true. To see that Trix was real. The woman with a black heart. She was more than that though. She was more to us, to everyone in the club. She was family. A part of us and without her there was a feeling of something missing. When she came back, no matter how pissed I was, I was just as relieved. She was home. Now we just needed to finish what we came here for and get home. I didn't like being gone longer than I had to be. Since I became president I spent more time at the clubhouse then out on runs. The guys could handle them. I needed to make sure our home base was safe, protected. Especially now that there were kids involved, my kids. I didn't like them being there where I wasn't there to protect them and I knew Trix felt the same way. She would rather be home where her son was.

We made our way back upstairs. Angelo had a man waiting for us when we reached the top.

"This way." He spoke as he turned down the hallway. We followed him to a room that was set up with enough food to feed a small army. I guess when you think about it, that's what we were. Only this army didn't eat on plates that were gold plated and drink out of glasses that were made of the finest crystal. But this was how Angelo did things. Over the top. Roslyn smiled as she watched us approach and ran to Trix and pulled her away from the rest of us. I guess in a way I was glad to see the two of them getting along. I watched her as they laughed.  I was trying to keep from going to her. I knew what she needed and what she wanted right now and by the looks of her fidgeting I could tell it was getting to her. I would give her a few more minutes before I would go to her and give her exactly what she was craving.

Chapter Twenty Five

I had to admit, Roslyn was getting to me. She reminded me in so many ways of Cass. But she was so much stronger than Cass ever was. She was a survivor. Something Cass never was. I looked around the pink room and realized I wanted to see this room again. I smiled as I zipped my bag. Hanging out with her last night was refreshing. She was so unlike the women at the clubhouse with their catty ways. And then you had the old ladies who hated me. I wish I’d had more time to talk to her but Nix pulled me away. I can’t say that I’m upset about it though. He knew what I wanted and what I needed.

Every time I ended one life I had to feel alive afterwards. Feel something that erased the numbness. And Nix brought me out of the darkness. Without him I’m not sure I could ever see the light again.

Taking one last look around the room I walked to the door.

My phone rang as I made my way down the hallway. I pulled it out of my pocket and answered it. "Hello."

"Stella."

I rolled my eyes. I had thought Nitro had finally gave up on calling me by my real name. "Hey, Nitro. How's my little man?"

"I—I—," he stuttered.

"Spit it out," I huffed. What the hell was going on.

"He's gone."

"Who's gone?" I met up with the guys as they waited in the foyer. Nix looked at me as I waited for him to answer.

"Zaiden."

I stopped, the blood draining out of my face.

"What the fuck do you mean Zaiden is gone?"

"Cheyenne was watching him. Everything was fine. When I got back to your house I found Cheyenne on the floor. And Zaiden. He wasn't there."

"Please tell me you’re joking. And that my son is not fucking missing. Nitro. Where is he?" I screamed into the phone. The phone was torn out of my hand as my entire body went numb. This could not be happening. It was a dream. I would wake up and all of this would be just a fucked up dream. I looked over at Nix who was yelling into my phone. I couldn't comprehend what was happening. He looked over at me. Fuck. It was true my little boy was missing.

"Roll out now. Trix you’re with me, we need to get the fuck home now." Nix grabbed me and pulled me to him. "We are going to get him back, Trix. I promise you. We will find him and everything will be okay."

He took me by the hand and pulled me out the door and to his bike. I couldn't think. The anger inside me was building and all I wanted was to be home. I wanted to be home with my son. My son who was missing because of this fucking club. It's always this fucking club. I already lost one baby because of this club and there was no way they were taking another one from me.

The ride home seemed to take forever. The four hours dragged by as I wrapped my arms around Nix and prayed it was all a mistake and Zaiden would be asleep in his bed when we got home. By the time we pulled onto our street I was ready to jump off the back of Nix's bike and run inside. When we pulled into the driveway Nitro and Payne were standing outside waiting for us. Nix stopped his bike and I jumped off running to the front door when I was pulled backwards.

"Trix. He's not in there."

I pulled out of Payne’s arms and turned around. "I need to fucking see for my God damn self." I pushed through the front door and looked around. There was a red stain on the carpet. "Who's blood is on my fucking floor. And don't you dare tell me it's my son’s."

"Cheyenne’s. She's in the hospital but she's fine."

"I don't give a shit how she is. I want to know who the fuck took my son." I searched my entire house. Nothing else was missing. Only Zaiden. Nothing else was even out of place. The back door was kicked in but that was the only thing they had left to show they were here.

"Venom I need you to go through every single second of the security footage. I want to know the name of every fucking person who came within twenty feet of her front door. And I want those names now," Nix yelled into his phone, as I stood outside the back door wondering who the fuck had taken my son.

“We’ll get him back Trix. I promise.” I felt his arm come around me as he spoke. I wasn’t as confident as he was, whoever took him knew what they were doing. Knew who Zaiden was. They would use him against us, to get something from us. And in this club if it came down to one life or the club I knew what the decision would be. The club is the most important thing to them. And even though it was Nix’s son it didn’t matter. The fucking club came first. It always would. My entire body went numb as I dropped into Nix’s arms.

FUCK. I paced in my office. There wasn’t anything I could do. I had nowhere to start looking. No one I knew had any issue with us right now. All the loose ends were tied up and nothing was left open. For once we were golden. Perfect. This came out of nowhere. I lifted the bottle of whiskey to my lips and took a drink. Empty. Shit.  I threw the bottle against the wall and watched as the bottle shattered and the broken shards of glass covered the floor.

Knock, knock.
I didn’t want to see anyone right now. “What,” I growled.

“Nix, it’s me babe, can I come in?” Zoelle spoke in a meek voice.

“Hold on.” I stood up stumbling as I walked to the door to open it. I didn’t want her in here. I pushed my way out the door to where she was standing.

“Come on Nix, come home. We need you.”

“No. We are not going home. You and Calissta are staying here until we find my son.”

“I hate staying here Nix, can’t you just put some prospects on the house so we can stay at home.”

“No, Zoe and now is not the time to argue with me. I need all the guys here. Because when I find the person who did this I am going to need everyone there to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

She rolled her eyes at me. “Fine, whatever. Then can I at least have your room key, I left mine at home and I need to put Calissta down.”

“I’ll let you in, come on.”

I walked down the hall trying to stay up straight. I don’t remember the last time I was this drunk. I made it to my room before I had to lean against the wall for support as I unlocked the door to let Zoelle in. As soon as she was inside I shut the door and stumbled my way to the bar. Halfway there I heard bottles breaking and screaming. Shit. I forced myself to hurry. Even with blurred vision I could see what was going on. Trix was standing behind the bar pulling beer bottles off the shelf and throwing them at the wall. Everyone just stood there watching. No one tried to stop her as she threw bottle after bottle at the wall watching it shatter as it hit.

“What the fuck.” Everyone turned to me. “Trix what the fuck. Stop before you hurt someone.’

“Fuck you.” She turned and threw a bottle at me, missing and hitting the wall behind me.

“You need to settle the fuck down,” I growled as I made my way over to her. By the time I reached for her she slipped out of my grip. I tried again, this time grabbing her by her shirt. She turned towards me and before I could stop her she pushed me with all her strength. When I didn’t budge she started punching me. I pulled her to me and wrapped my arms around her. She didn’t stop fighting, trying to get out of my grip as she screamed at me to let her go.

“Stop Trix,” I growled as she fought against me.

“Fuck you Nix, let me go.”

“Red,” I yelled. As I looked over at the crowd that had gathered around us, he stepped forward.
