CHAPTER TEN
PHASE 3: TRUE BEAUTY

If you feel bound, you are bound. If you feel liberated, you are liberated. Things outside neither bound nor liberate you; only your attitude toward them does that.

—Sri Swami Satchidananda
Translation and Commentary of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

Welcome to True Beauty! True Beauty is a pretty high level of cleansing, and if you have transitioned here, you should be very proud of yourself.

By now you're already starting to see the incredible benefits of the Beauty Detox. Those dark circles under your eyes have lightened. Your skin looks smoother and more radiant. Your eyes are brighter. Your energy level has increased. You may even feel less stressed thanks to the nourishing minerals and nutrients coursing through your body!

As a True Beauty, you'll deepen your cleanse even further, reaching a new level of health and beauty. The longer you stay a True Beauty, the better you will feel and look. Remember the clogged wheel and our theory that aging is essentially only a function of how much sludge we have in our “wheel”? Well, in this phase we reach an exceptionally high level of cleaning out the sludge, reversing aging and growing younger!

TRUE BEAUTY BENEFITS

During this phase, your weight will stabilize and you will achieve the right weight for your frame. You will notice that parts of your body, such as your arms, will become more toned as a result of having more space for the oxygen to move around in your body.

Because you are cleansing and renewing your body at such a high level, you will notice that old nagging cravings will greatly diminish and then will go away, as “reminders” of old foods finally leave your body once and for all, and you restore inner balance in your body. The healthy bacteria in your body are replenished, and your entire body becomes more alkaline. You will not miss old foods or your old lifestyle. You will be so psyched by how great you look and feel! Instead of seeing isolated improvements here and there in your physical features, you will now look in the mirror and increasingly see a more glowing, younger version of yourself. You will experience for yourself the truth of how powerful food and cleansing really are to heal the body and naturally elevate our beauty to its highest level!

Ultimate health and beauty are yours for the taking!

TRUE BEAUTY BASIC TENETS

In True Beauty, we switch from the Glowing Green Smoothie to the Glowing Green Juice. Since we are taking fiber out of the morning routine, we are starting to live on pure plant
fuel. The antioxidants and cleansing force in the Glowing Green Juice hit our system in a harder way. If you don't feel comfortable with this, especially at first, don't judge yourself! If at any point in this phase you start to feel like it is too much, return to Radiant Beauty for a while, until you feel like trying again.

If you prefer the Glowing Green Smoothie over the Glowing Green Juice and feel better drinking it (many of my clients do), you can definitely stick with it but adhere to the other tenets of the plan. The Glowing Green Smoothie can also be a snack later on in the day after lunch, even if you have Glowing Green Juice in the morning.

IN THE TRUE BEAUTY PHASE:

The Glowing Green Juice will be breakfast at least five times a week (unless you find that you do better on the Glowing Green Smoothie and choose to stick with it).

Lunch no longer includes any cooked grains. Cooked veggies and avocados are the densest solid foods at lunch.

Fish and other seafood, eggs and raw goat's milk cheese are consumed a maximum

Fish and other seafood, eggs and raw goat's milk cheese are consumed a maximum of two times a week at dinner. All other meals have no animal products.

Land animals (chicken, beef, pork, turkey, etc.) are no longer consumed.

APPLICABLE TO ALL PHASES:

Avoid these foods: Dairy
Gluten-containing foods, such as those made with wheat, rye and barley
Refined sugar and starches, including sodas
Artificial sweeteners, including all diet sodas
Canned and microwaved foods
Foods with additives or artificial ingredients; packaged foods
Unfermented soy products
Packaged, pre-bottled fruit and vegetable juices
Table salt
Fried foods
Refined or heated oils (except a small amount of coconut oil)

Avoid animal protein during the day, which slows the passage of food. Stay light and eat only plant-based foods.

Minimize snacking as much as possible. Snacking drains our Beauty Energy and overtaxes our system. Eat enough at meals so you feel satisfied and not hungry.

If hunger persists through the afternoon because you are used to eating heavier foods or more often, try eating more Probiotic & Enzyme Salad. Have veggie sticks around to snack on with salsa or another veggie-based dip. Chlorella tablets can also be helpful.

TRUE BEAUTY SAMPLE ONE-WEEK MENU

Meals for any day can be interchanged with a
lighter
meal (for example, Dharma's Kale Salad instead of an Open-Faced Avo Beauty Sandwich), but not the other way around.

This plan is meant to be a guide, so be sure to customize your meals accordingly. Of course, I don't expect you to make all these recipes every week! There will be leftovers, and you'll make really easy dishes on the fly. You'll develop a list of go-to, easy recipes that you'll make often!

Be sure to refer to the Beauty Detox Portion Guidelines (page 159) to be familiar with how much of certain foods to eat.

If you get a craving for dessert, herbal tea or warmed unsweetened almond milk with stevia might satisfy you. One to two ounces of an organic,
72
percent or more cacao, dairy-free dark chocolate bar is another choice, though you do not want to consume chocolate every day. If you're really craving something sweet, you can try some of the smoothie and dessert recipes in Chapter 11.

Be sure to consume one tablespoon of ground flaxseed a day to satisfy your need for omega-3 essential fatty acid needs. Add it to your dinner salad each night.

Having a cup of hot water with liver-supporting lemon first thing in the morning supports our cleansing process.
