The Boston Debutante (The Debutante Series Book 1) (11 page)

She looked around shaking all over. She could see the whole valley from where she stood. She looked down at Turk still standing there looking up. She was tempted to jump down in his arms.

His heart was skipping beats as the full realization of what he had just done and he didn’t get slapped or anything.

He wanted to forget about the cattle and just hold her in his arms. Her warm body against his and her sweet tasting soft lips felt so good against his. What astounded him even more was she didn’t protest too much or try to slap him again.

Maybe there was more in that kiss then he realized.

Macy stood there watching as Turk mounted his horse and rode off.

It was her this time that had the shaking hands as she could still feel his body against hers making her feel all warm and tingly inside.

She wasn’t sure if it was what he did or whether it was the cold rain soaking her body. She was having warm feelings that she had never had for a man before.

Her mind was racing a mile a minute as the thoughts of the feelings of his lips against hers had sent unwanted feelings coercing through her whole body.

It took her a few minutes before she remembered she was supposed to be looking for cattle in the valley.

She raised the glasses up and started scanning the valley for any sign of cows.

After about ten minutes she spotted a movement in a thicket.

She picked up the radio.

“Turk, there are some cows ahead of you and to the right. Start that way and I will guide you.”

Turk moved a little to the right and continued toward the location that Macy had told him.

“Move a little more to the right Turk.”

Turk shifted his direction more to the right.

Macy was starting to pick up more chatter on the radio and she could hear Megan doing the same thing where they were.

Turk spotted three cows standing by a thicket ahead of him.

He slowly rode around to the other side of them and started herding them back toward Macy’s location. Macy stood on the bolder and watched Turk’s progress back to her location.

The whole time he had been gone all he thought about was the kiss and how good it felt.

He put the cows in a ravine by Macy and made a makeshift fence out of some rope to keep the cows from wondering off again.

When he had the fence made he looked up at Macy and said, “Call Megan on the radio and find out how many cows they had found.

Macy put the radio to her mouth.

“Megan how many cows have you found?”

Her voice came back over the radio and said, “We have six and I have just spotted two more.

Buck and the other men are going after them now.”

“Roy broke in on his radio and said they had ten and were heading back with them.

Turk looked up at Macy and asks, “Have you seen any more?”

“No I don’t think there are any more here.”

Turk replied good come on down and let’s eat a bite before we start herding these back.

Macy turned around and slid belly first down the side of the bolder. When she got low enough Turk caught her from behind. He put his hands on her waist and helped her the rest of the way down.

When she turned around he looked into her eyes.  She returned the look with her wide beautiful eyes while quakes of warmth caressed her like a warm blanket.

Turk just stood there. He wanted to tell her how beautiful she was but the words just stuck in his throat.

Macy thought he was going to kiss her again but he didn’t make a move toward her.

Finally she asks, “What did you bring to eat. Turk pulled a bag out of his saddlebag and opened it up. It was full of jerky. He got some out and handed her the bag. He reached back in the saddlebag and pulled out a thermos of coffee and two cups. He poured her some and then he poured his.

They sat on some rocks and chewed on the jerky while trying to cover their coffee so the rain wouldn’t cool it off.

Turk looked at Macy the whole time she was eating hoping she would say something about the kiss he had given her earlier. She remained silent.

Thoughts of his kiss were all she was thinking about. She was hoping he was going to do it again.

He didn’t know it but the kiss had made her start thinking about him. Her feelings of him being a dumb cowboy was leaving her. She looked at him more as a handsome man that apparently was starting to fall for her.

He wasn’t what she had envisioned in her mind but he was so damn handsome and strong.

When they finished Turk put everything back in his saddlebags and he helped Macy on her horse.

“You know Turk if I told my friends about today they wouldn’t believe me. Everything we have done today is new to me and I do mean everything.”

“I bet you have never done what you did last night either.”

“Turk what did I do last night?”

“I can’t tell you right now but maybe when we get home.”

“It was bad wasn’t it?”

“Maybe for you but not everyone else. It was Megan’s fault for getting you drunk. She knew better than that.”

He pulled his makeshift fence down and herded the cattle out.

They rode in the direction
of the brake in the fence. Turk kept the cattle heading in the right direction and Macy rode along beside him keeping silent. The thoughts of Turks body against hers and the feel of his erection pressing pressed against her stomach told her one thing. He was going to end up taking her virtue and she was going to let him have it willing.

She had heard girls talking about it at the club and she wondered how it would feel to have a man inside her most intimate place.

As soon as they were inside the fence he called Megan on the radio and told her they would be waiting on them at the fence.

Turk tied his rope fence across the break in the fence so the cows couldn’t get back out.

When the cows were secure they rode over to the edge of a tall rock cliff to get out of the pounding rain.

Suddenly the rain turned to hail. They pulled the horses under an overhang to protect them. A frantic voice came over the radio.

“Turk look out, a twister is heading right for you.”

Turk looked up just as it came bearing down on them.

He grabbed Macy, threw her to the ground and jumped on top of her about knocking the wind out of her.

Dirt and rocks pounded him on the back as he lay there.

The swirling wind almost picked him off Macy as he struggled to hang on.

Macy felt like she was being sucked out from under him as the twister went right over the top of them carrying dirt and uprooted bushes with it.

Macy was screaming. She thought she was going to die right there. She was so scared she didn’t even feel Turks weight on top of her. He was squeezing her tightly.

Just as quick as it came it was gone leaving the two of them covered in mud and debris.

Turk looked into Macy’s mud covered face and ask, “Are you ok?”

She looked up at him and replied, “You didn’t have to throw me on my back and jump on top of me.”

“There wasn’t time to turn you over.”

He was glad to see her making light of their situation even if it was nervous tension that was making her take light of
it. She could feel the heat that was transpiring between them.

She was looking in his eyes as his eyes searched her face like a wild animal looking over his kill.

She thought to herself, “He’s going to kiss me again. I hope he does. I want him to do it.

His face moved slowly toward hers. Her heartbeat sped up.

She lay real still waiting for the contact with her lips. He stopped moving closer to her lips and stood up and helped her to her feet. She let out a sigh. He hadn’t taken advantage of his position to her disappointment. He had told her he wouldn’t and he didn’t but she wanted him to so bad.

The mud on her face and in her eyes was starting to streak from the rain. She felt like a drowned rat standing in the rain covered from head to toe with mud.

Thank goodness she still had on her rain suit even though she was still wet. At least she wasn’t too cold and her clothes didn’t get covered in mud.

She had never been this dirty in her life.

Macy said, “Turk I have to go to the restroom.”

Turk laughed and replied, “Why don’t you go in your pants. No one will know the difference.”

“I most certainly will not go in my pants. I was raised better than that.”

Turk looked at her and replied, “Suit yourself.

There are plenty of rocks out here to get behind but keep in mind the snakes get under them too when it’s raining.”

She looked up at him with that disgusted look that he had seen several times before.

“You could go and make sure there are no snakes or you can give me your gun and I will go check myself.”

Turk let out a cackle and said, “There’s no way I am going to let you have a gun. You will shoot yourself or someone else.”

Macy turned and stomped over to her horse and tried in
vain to get on him. She just wasn’t tall enough to get her foot in the stirrup and reach the saddle horn at the same time with that big rain suit on.

Turk walked slowly over to her and grabbed her under the arms. At the same time he turned and slung her up in the saddle.

“You keep trying to get on that horse that way and you are going to hurt yourself again. I don’t want any more cuts on that pretty face of yours.”

About that time he heard water running off the horse’s belly.  He knew right away she had held it as long as she could. He looked up at her and her face was beet red
, what he could see under the mud. He patted her on the thigh and smiled at her.

“Good going Babe, now don’t you feel better now?”

She took a swing at him but missed.

He grinned at her and said, “Macy you hot little thing you behave yourself before I go back on my word and suck those luscious lips off your face.”

She looked down at him and replied, “Why don’t you stop bragging and start acting stud?”

Turk’s jaw dropped as the shock of what she said hit him like a brick. He thought before she might have been a little upset at him for kissing her but now she was inviting him to kiss her.

What she had just said was ringing in his ears.

He didn’t say anything he just looked up at her eyes still looking down at him so innocent.

“You little devil you keep asking for it and I am going to pull you off that horse and plant one on you, you won’t soon forget.”

“She
grinned at him with that twinkle in her eyes. He was wondering where that animosity was that they first felt for each other. It was gone and they were flirting with each other.

Turk mounted his horse and went over to where the other guys were fixing the fence. The storm had knocked down another ten sections of fence but the men already had it back up.

Megan pulled her horse up beside Macy. “What was that all about?”

“That darn Turk made me wet my pants.”

Megan said, “Don’t worry about it. We are all so wet nobody would realize it anyway.”

Macy replied, “That’s what Turk said and then when he threw me up on my horse so
hard I let go and he saw it dripping off the horse.

He just smiled and patted me on the leg. By the way he kissed me so hard this morning before I realized what he was doing and about sucked my socks off. What makes it so bad was I let him and still want him to do it again.  He’s real sneaky isn’t he?”

Megan was ecstatic.

“You mean he kissed you and you didn’t knock his head off? I knew he had a thing for you the first time I saw him looking at you.”

Macy didn’t know how to respond she had never been kissed without being asked first.

She only knew it felt so good and right. The feel of his lips on hers made her feel safe and secure.

Megan said, “Next time he kisses you hold on to him so he can’t get away. He is a good kisser. We used to make out all the time when we were kids. I even thought I was in love with him when we were teenagers.”

Macy sat in her saddle picturing Turk kissing Megan.

She was having a hard time getting used to the idea that they were not blood brother and sister.

Turk came riding over to them and said, “Good job today girls. Let’s head back to the line shack.”

He never looked directly at Macy. It’s just as well. She would have shied away from him anyway. Her reply to him sucking her lips off had even shocked her. She didn’t ever think she would say something like that to a man. She felt like that was an invitation to him to take advantage of her. She really didn’t care any longer because he made her feel so good.

This trip so far has gone against everything she had been taught. Turk was definitely starting to show interest in her and she didn’t know how to react to him.
She had no intention of getting tied to a poor cowboy, especially an orphan but when he kissed her like he did that all changed.
