The situation was utterly hopeless.

“Alright everyone”, interrupted Damaras, rising from his chair, and I released another sigh, of gratitude this time.

“I know all of you like Mr. Stavros, are wondering why we’ve gathered here. An important information has come to light, and its imperative that we share it with the conclave.”

This raised my already alert antennae. Over the years, I had gotten used to the ostentatious buffets and the thoroughly wasted affairs and debates of the conclave, but I had never seen chief Damaras in such a grave mood. Bored, annoyed, comatose sure, but never serious. But his eyes, as he made contact with mine, looked a lot more alert then either of us were presently capable of.

“We have received news. Whether it’s alarming or merely disturbing is for the council to decide. The senators, are however, advised to inform their Alis and take necessary steps to protect their priories.”

Oh come on, just spit it already

I couldn’t help but agree with the oaf.

As if sensing our thought, Damaras turned towards us and spoke in a chilling voice “A true Aidyan has come to power.”
