Dillon suddenly walks into the room unannounced. “Parker, you need to call Blue. He’s driving me crazy calling my phone.”
“Why hasn’t he just called mine?” I ask as I look around for my phone.
“He said he’s tried but you never responded. He’s worried that something has happened to you.” Dillon replies.
Standing up I search high and low for my phone but turn up nothing.
I growl out in frustration as I realize who had had my phone last.
Marching over to my door I open it. “Emmett, get your ass up here now.” I yell and then shut my door.
It only takes him a few minutes to come in with a questioning look. “You called?”
“Where’s my phone?” I clip out as I move to stand in front of him.
He bows his head and sighs for a moment before reaching back into his back pocket and then holding my phone out in front of me.
I snatch it from his hand. “This is not winning you any points, Emmett. Keep this up and you’ll be sleeping on the floor tonight.”
Leaning in close he cups my chin in his hand. “I’ll make it up to you tonight.”
Stepping back he gives me a quick wink before leaving the room once again.
Dillon steps forward with a raised brow. “What was that all about?”
“He’s been hiding my phone because he doesn’t like me talking to Blue. I think he’s afraid of me getting to close to anyone else that may threaten his hold on me.” I answer honestly.
“Watch your back, that sounds like it could take a turn in the blink of an eye.” Dillon warns.
I already knew how quickly Emmett’s emotions changed.
It was like dancing on a fine thread.
“I can handle him, Dillon. We’ve already been at each other’s throats about it but he won’t hurt me. He cares too much about me to hurt me.” I reply confidently.
“That can be just as dangerous. If he cares that much then he might be capable of doing anything in order to keep you if he feels threatened that he might lose you.” Dillon replies.
I nod my head, I hadn’t thought of that.
“I’ll be careful.” I promise him.
He nods his head once before leaving my room again.
Harley lets out a deep sigh as she lies back on my bed. “This is such a huge mess, Parker. You need to be careful.”
“I know, and I will be Harley. All I need to do is figure things out and make some really difficult decisions.” I reply.
She shakes her head. “You know as well as I do that it won’t be that easy. It’s never that easy.”
And she was right, things never came easy.
This was more than likely going to blow up in my face.
At least I would be the only one paying for my terrible decisions.
My pack wouldn’t pay and that’s all that really mattered to me, that they were able to stay clear when it all went south.
When it was all said and done then they could come and pick up the pieces that were left.
“
I
’m going to see what Damon is up to and give you some time alone so you can talk with Blue.” Harley states as she sits up on my bed and then stands to her feet.
We had been laying silently on my bed for a while now.
I wasn’t ready for her to leave though.
But it was for the best since I needed to call Blue and let him know that everything was alright and that I hadn’t been hurt in any way.
“Thanks for staying with me for a little while, Harley.” I reply gratefully.
She grins brightly as she backs away from me towards the door. “What are best friends for?”
With that she turns and then leaves me in my room alone.
Picking my phone off of my blanket I stare at it. It’s heavy in my hand as I prepare myself to make the phone call to Blue.
It rings twice before he picks up. “Hello?”
I stay silent on the other end, my words frozen on my tongue.
“Hello?” Blue repeats.
“Parker, please tell me that you’re alright.” He then states gently.
I finally find my voice and respond. “I’m fine, Blue. I just didn’t have my phone. Someone else had it so I didn’t get any of your calls.”
I wanted to bite my own tongue off as soon as those words left my mouth.
I knew his next question would be as to whom had had my phone.
It was a question I didn’t want to answer but if I didn’t then I might as well kiss anything we had or could have had between us goodbye.
I couldn’t continue keeping what I had been doing a secret.
He needed to know about Emmett.
“You really had me worried.” Blue sighs. “Who had your phone?”
And there it was.
“Emmett had my phone. He’s been upset with me for talking to you. I think he feels threatened by you and the fact that you’re becoming an alpha.” I answer truthfully.
“And why would he feel threatened?” Blue questions next.
“It’s because there’s something between us. I know you’ve felt it, haven’t you?” I reply.
He remains silent for a moment before speaking softly. “I have felt it, Parker. It scares the crap out of me too, but that doesn’t explain why Emmett feels threatened by me. Do you two have something going on between you?”
I nod as my free hand grips my blankets in a tight grasp. “Yes, I’ve been sleeping with him.”
There it was.
The truth was out now.
Whatever happened now depended on Blue.
He sighs roughly on the other end. “Do you love him?”
“No, I don’t. He just makes the days a bit easier to get through.” I answer honestly.
Blue once again goes silent on his end.
I remain silent as my heart squeezes so tightly that I can barely take my next breath.
After a long painful few minutes pass I break the silence. “Please, say something.”
“What am I supposed to say, Parker?” Blues sighs loudly. “I didn’t figure you’d take things that far when I told you to try to be with the other alphas. All I wanted you to do was be certain that it was me that you truly wanted and not just the idea of me.”
“So, what do we do now?” I whisper as I close my eyes.
“That all depends on you, Parker. When I come there in two weeks you better have ended things with him if you want any chance with me.” Blue replies gruffly.
I could hear the hurt in his voice.
“I’ll end it.” I promise him.
Again, silence spans the distance between us before Blue sighs. “I’ll talk to you another time, Parker. If I talk anymore I’m only going to regret what I say.”
I nod as my heart constricts further.
“Goodbye, Parker.” Blue states softly.
“Goodbye, Blue.” I reply.
A moment later he ends the call and I’m left feeling as if those were going to be our last words to each other.
I feared that he wouldn’t come in two weeks.
Honestly I wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t.
Lying back on my bed once again I stare absently at my ceiling as I war with what I had to do next in my mind.
I needed to end things with Emmett now, but I wasn’t sure if I was strong enough.
As if on cue Emmett walks into the room and joins me by lying back on the bed beside me.
“What are you thinking so hard about?” He asks.
“I’m just thinking about the decisions I’m going to have to make soon.” I reply truthfully.
“Are you having second thoughts about us?” He asks next. “If you are I can help change your mind. I’d do anything you wanted to make it easy for you to choose me as your mate.”
“It’s not just that, I’m going to have to move to wherever my future mate wants. It worries me that you haven’t exactly told me where your people are.” I reply curiously as I turn my head to look at him.
His jaw ticks for a moment before he sighs. “I can’t tell you that, Parker.”
I push up on my elbow. “Why not, what’s so hard about telling me where we would live if I choose you?”
“I just can’t tell you, Parker. Leave it alone.” Emmett growls.
Lying back down with a huff of breath I take a moment to think before speaking my mind. “Then we can’t be together, Emmett. If you can’t tell me that single secret then this has to end now.”
He lets out a fierce growl as he rolls on top of me. “I won’t let you run away that easily.”
“Then tell me where we would be living. I have to know for me and my pack. I won’t put them into danger just because you don’t want to tell me.” I argue.
“Can’t you just trust me?” He inquires.
He couldn’t be serious.
“If you want me to trust you then you need to be able to trust me as well.” I reply through gritted teeth.
This only elicits a snarl from him. “I can’t tell you.”
“Then get off of me.” I spit out as I push him.
He unfortunately doesn’t budge.
“Get off of me, Emmett. Didn’t you hear me? I want nothing to do with you if you can’t tell me where we will be living together.” I growl out.
Still he doesn’t move from his position.
His eyes stare into mine with building anger.
Instead of pushing him I raise my hand and bring it across his cheek with a loud slap. “Get off of me.”
“It’s because of him, isn’t it?” Emmett clips out suddenly. “You need a reason to push me away so you can be with that beta wolf.”
I shake my head. “He’s not a part of this.”
“Bull shit, Parker. You want me gone so you’re going to use the one thing you can against me. Well, guess what, it isn’t going to work. I won’t let you push me away like that.” Emmett snarls.
“It really isn’t up to you, Emmett. It’s my choice in the end.” I reply.
My anger towards him was only building.
I wanted nothing to do with him right now.
“You’re going to choose me.” Emmett states confidently.
“Go to hell, Emmett.” I bite out.
He grins before grabbing my arms to hold them over my head. “Babe, I’ve already been to hell. You’re the one who’s going to save me.”
His words didn’t make much sense but as his teeth nip at my neck all thoughts flee my mind and I quickly relax as a soft moan leaves my lips.
I would make him leave tomorrow.
Right now this was what I wanted.
Tomorrow would be a new day and I would make my decisions and stick to them.
“
T
his is the last time, Emmett.” I moan softly as he moves behind me.
His warm body felt good against mine after a short night of sleep.
“That’s what you’ve been saying for the past week and a half, Parker. Give it up. You’re not going to get rid of me. You enjoy how I make you feel too much to give it up.” Emmett chuckles as he kisses my bare shoulder.
“Has it really been that long?” I ask as I turn to face him.
He nods. “Yes, it has, and you’ve told me to leave nearly every day, but as soon as I come back you beg me to stay with you for one more night.”
“You really do need to go unless you’ve finally decided to tell me where we will live together.” I reply once again.
He chuckles and then tugs me closer for a long passionate kiss. “I’ll see you tonight, Babe.”
With that promise he rolls out of bed and quickly pulls on his clothes before leaving my room.
For a moment I lay still until all of the thoughts and emotions I had been hiding from spill through and leave me an utter mess.
I curl into a ball as I begin to weep.
Hands suddenly reach for me gently and Harley’s face comes into view.
“Shhhh, Parker, everything will be alright.” She soothes as she runs her fingers through my hair.
“It’s not going to be alright, Harley. I keep messing up and Blue is going to be here any day now. He’s not going to want to be around me when he finds out that I didn’t break things off between me and Emmett. He’s going to hate me.” I cry.
“I’m not going to let you mess up anymore, Parker.” Harley promises. “I will stay by your side every second of every day if I have to.”
“How are you going to keep Emmett away?” I whimper.
Harley grins mischievously. “Leave that to me, Parker.”
She then pats my shoulder. “Come on, let’s get you up and dressed so you can go with me to eat some breakfast.”
I nod and wipe away my tears before slipping out from under my blankets and to my feet.
Harley gasps and covers her mouth as her eyes take in my bare body. “Oh my god, Parker, did he do that to you?”
Looking down at myself I scrunch my face in confusion. “I have no idea how that happened.”
My body was covered with bruises.
My thighs had bruises in the shape of hands prints and my wrists also held bruises.
“I swear to god I’m going to kill him myself, Parker. You should never let him do that to you, no man, wolf or not, should ever do that to a girl.” Harley growls.
“I’m fine. Harley. It’s fine.” I try to calm her.
My words only make her anger grow. “It’s not fine, Parker.”
Before I can stop her she marches out of my room.
I rush to get dressed before running down the hallway after her. “What are you going to do, Harley?”
“I’m going to kick his ass.” She snarls.
As we turn the corner and enter the kitchen we both come to a complete stop.
There at the table was Blue and Rowan.
They were early.
Harley moves forward and I remain behind to watch as she moves right behind Emmett.
With one smooth move she grabs the back of his head before slamming it forward into his plate of food.
He jumps up with a snarl and Damon quickly moves in front of her to protect her.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Emmett growls.
“You know why you deserved that.” Harley spits out and then glances in my direction.
Every eye in the room turns to me.
“What is she talking about, Parker.” Dillon demands as he stands and then moves over towards me.
I shrink back away from him as he moves closer.
“Look at her wrists.” Magnus replies through Harley’s lips this time.
I growl and keep Dillon from coming any closer. I didn’t want this to go any farther than it already had.
Suddenly hands grab me from behind, stopping me from being able to retreat.
“Please, don’t.” I plead as Dillon moves closer and then proceeds to tug the sleeve of my shirt up enough to see the bruising on my wrist.
He lets out a string of curses as he searches my eyes. “Why do you have bruises on your wrists, Parker?”
I shrug. “It’s nothing. Things just got carried away a little. Harley didn’t let me explain things before she ran out of my room.”
I was trying to make this whole ordeal into nothing.
The look in Dillon’s eyes told me I was failing though.
“Take him to Rixon. Tell him what he’s done to his daughter.” Dillon commands suddenly.
This was spinning out of control.
Emmett snarls loudly before pushing past Harley and Damon and then past Dillon until he was right in front of me.
He leans in close. “I will have you, Parker. Mark my words you will be mine.”
Stepping back he glances over my shoulder before grinning widely and then moving in close once again as he buries his face into my neck.
His teeth nip at my skin and I close my eyes as a soft moan escapes my lips against my will.
As he pulls back he glances over my shoulder once more. “She’s mine.”
With those heavy words he allows Harley and Damon to pull him away from me and out of the kitchen.
I stand still, mortified. I knew the hands that were still holding me from behind, they belonged to Blue.
Dillon once again steps in front of me. “What have you gotten yourself into, Parker?”
I don’t answer him.
“Parker, say something.” He whispers. “Did he hurt you elsewhere?”
His words finally snap me out of my trance and I fight against both him and Blue to get away.
“Stop, Parker. Stop fighting me.” Blue demands.
As Titus walks in I give up. “You need to get her into her room. She needs to be looked over so that we can assess a punishment for Emmett. I will not allow this to happen while I’m here.”
Instead of fighting anymore I begin to cry.
Tears fall down my face. “Please, don’t.”
Titus takes Dillon’s place and places his hand under my chin gently. “Parker, I will not allow him to harm you again. This is against our laws. If you have bruising he must be punished.”
I nod and he wipes away my tears. “I’ll send Harley up to look you over.”
With that he nods to Blue behind me and in the next moment Blue picks me up off of my feet and begins to carry me to my room.
As he lays me on my bed I curl into a tight ball on my side.
He kneels down next to me with sad eyes. “You didn’t end things with him, did you?” He asks softly.
I shake my head as I close my eyes. “I couldn’t, it hurt too much.”
“Did you at least try to end it?” He questions next.
I open my eyes and nod. “I tried every day but he made it too easy to give in again.”
Blue nods his head once before we hear a loud roar sound out through the house.
My father was pissed.
Blue stands to his feet and begins to move away but I stop him by grabbing onto his hand. “Please, don’t leave me.” I plead.
He nods once before moving back to my side.
It only takes a few minutes until my father, Titus and Harley burst through my door.
“What did he do to you, Parker?” My father demands.
Instead of answering him I hide my face.
I flinch when his hand touches my hair. “What has he done to you?” He whispers sadly.
“Harley, I need you to look her over and write down every single mark she has from him. I want nothing overlooked, okay.” My father then commands.
I whimper as Blue tries to tug his hand from mine.
He kneels down and touches my cheek. “I’ll be right outside the door until you’re finished.”
“Please, stay.” I beg.
“I don’t know if I can stand to see what he did to you.” Blue replies roughly.
“Just stay with me, please.” I try again.
Giving in Blue nods and then looks to my father for his permission.
My father nods once before leaving Harley, me, and Blue in my room alone.
“Parker, I need you to stand up so I can look you over.” Harley states softly as she moves next to Blue.
I nod and let go of my grasp on Blue’s hand before standing up.
Harley moves around me while gently stripping me of my clothing.
I close my eyes as she takes off my last piece of cloth hiding me from the world.
“Christ…” Blue curses softly behind me.
Making quick work Harley stands in front of me and writes down every mark. After a few moments she twirls her finger in the air for me to turn around.
As I do my eyes look up to Blue as he takes in my body from this new angle.
When his eyes meet mine he shakes his head and then pinches the bridge of his nose as he squeezes his eyes shut.
“Parker, I can’t…”He states suddenly before walking out of the room altogether.
Outside the room a loud growl pierces the silence right before something crashes against a wall.
“I’m going to kill him.” Blue growls loudly.
I turn to Harley with anger. “Why did you do this to me? Why couldn’t you have just stayed out of this?”
Her eyes harden before they turn into those of Magnus’s. “She didn’t have a choice in this matter.”
“From now on you will.” I order.
“I will not, if someone hurts my alpha then they must pay.” Magnus argues.
There was going to be no winning with him.
“Get out.” I scream as I point towards my door.
He shakes his head as Harley returns back into her mind.
“Get out, now.” I roar.
In an instant she rushes from my room leaving me alone.
Slipping on my clothes once more I move towards my door and open it before changing into my wolf form.
I run past Blue and the others.
They yell at me but I ignore them as I run straight towards my father’s office.
Halfway there a hard body slams into me.
It was Blue but in wolf form.
His black fur blends in with mine as he stands tall over my body.
I lay still not believing what I was seeing, he was an Onyx wolf, and he was just like me.
He growls at me as I try to move.
I stop and give in, tilting my head to the side exposing my neck to him.
After a moment he places his open mouth to my neck to assert his dominance before he lets go and then steps back before changing into his human form.
“I won’t let you free him, Parker.” He states abruptly.
I let out a huff and stand to my feet before walking away with my head held low.
I don’t know exactly what was driving me to free Emmett but I couldn’t see him getting punished.
He hadn’t really done anything wrong.
I had asked for this, I had enjoyed it when had gotten rough with me.
When I had the chance I was going to get inside my father’s office so that I could free Emmett so he could run away from here to safety.
I just needed a moment.
