EYE PROBLEMS
BLEPHARITIS
Blepharitis refers to inflammation of the outer eyelids. Symptoms include redness, burning, itching, swelling, watery eyes, and pain. There may be secretions that form crusts, making the eyes stick together.
CAUSES MAY INCLUDE
An infection.
Measles.
Straining the eyes.
Allergies.
Poor hygiene.
Poor nutrition and lifestyle habits.
Being run down.
Seborrhea of the face or scalp and other skin diseases may also be contributory factors.
Action plan
It is important to treat the underlying cause as well the condition itself.
EAT/DRINK
Fruit and vegetables, as these contain antioxidants needed for the immune system. They have healing, anti-inflammatory and anti-infectious properties.
Freshly pressed vegetable juice to support the immune system. Good vegetables to include are carrots, apples, celery, fennel, beets, ginger, parsley, spinach, and lettuce.
Foods rich in beta-carotene, as this converts to vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A is vital for eye health and immune function. Carrots, apricots,
squash, pumpkin, spinach, watercress, broccoli, and goji berries are all rich in beta-carotene.
