“It’
s a big decision to make. I…we...” She was faltering.
Please ask me to move in with you Jay
. She pleaded to herself. He got up and took out a bottle of coke from the fridge. Twisted the cap and took a big gulp.

Could he have gotten it all wrong? That she didn’t feel that much for him. Not enough to move in with him. He gave up when it came to women. He just didn’t understand them.

“Geeze Sam, all I’
m asking, is that you think about it.” He put the bottle on the table. He made this trip, stopped recording because he wanted to be with her. And now he finds she doesn’t want to move.

“Jay, it’
s not what you think.” She went over to him and tried to put her arms around his neck but he moved away. Sam looked after him. She would move to LA with him in the morning, if only he asked her to move in with him. She wanted to share his life not just his bed.

“I love you, but I’
m not going to move half way across the globe just so you can come over whenever you feel horny.” She went into her bedroom. She lay down on the bed and buried her head in the pillow. Sam could smell his aftershave on it.

The sound of the door closing made her sit up in the bed. She went out of the room into the lounge and the apartment was empty. Jay had left. Tears flowed freely down her face. She went into the bathroom to wipe her face. Perhaps Jay had gone for a walk to clear his head. This had been their first row. His bag was still in the lounge.

It was almost midnight when the doorbell rang. Sam knew it was Jay. She opened the door. Sure enough there was Jay standing outside. She stood aside to let him in. He came in and she closed the door.

“I just went for a walk.” Sam wanted to run into his arms and kiss him and tell him she loved him. He looked at her. For the second time today he was being serious. She nodded. His hand went up to his forehead. “I cut recording short because I had something to ask you, which was important to me,” He sat down. “Now, I wonder if I made a mistake.” Sam looked at him in disbelief.

“Only a few hours ago, you wanted me to move to LA and now you’
re throwing a tantrum!”

“And you said you wouldn’t
move in with me. What gives, Sam? Is it me you want or…” He paused. “Or is it the rock star that you really want?” That hurt. Jay couldn’t really believe that after all this time, that it was Jay the rock star she wanted? Surely he couldn’t believe that. If he did, Sam thought, then he really didn’t know her.

“You didn’t
ask me to move in with you. Just to move to LA, that

s what you said.” She went over to him. “Jay, I love you, not the rock star.” She ran her fingers through his hair. He put his hands on her waist. Jay stood up and said:

“Will you move into my house in the hills with me?” She looked up into his handsome face. He was being serious but the look of anger had disappeared. Back was the twinkling in his eyes and the sexy half smile that he always seemed to have.

“No!” She said teasingly. He groaned loudly.

“Women! So why not?” She walked away sashaying her hips and said;

“You didn’t
say please!” In one swoop he picked her up and carried her to the bedroom.

Sam lay curled up in bed beside Jay who had just turned on the TV. He kept the volume low so as not to disturb her. His arm was around her as he flicked the channel. Sam opened her eyes as the familiar guitar riff echoed into the room.

“Don’
t change it,” she said sleepily. Jay smiled at her.

“I’
ve never watched one of our videos.” Her arm around him, she cuddled up closer. The VJ came on and announced:

“We’
ll have more from Glam Metal later but did you know that two of the sexiest members of the band could be on their way to settling down?”
A well placed pause. Sam sat up beside Jay.
“Yes, ladies, Jay and Nick have been seen in the last few weeks with the same two women. Very intimate dinners and slow dancing,”
The photos of Jay and Nick were two of the hottest photos she had ever seen.  Jay wanted to change the channel but Sam wouldn’t let him. Then there was a picture of Jay with a blonde haired girl, she was in her late twenties and she was wearing a very skimpy dress. She was pretty in a very false way. The girl with Nick could have been her twin.

Sam sat bolt upright as she saw other photos of Jay and the blonde girl, he had his arm around her and she was leaning in close to him. She was getting very jealous.

“Smells like a relationship to me. Anyway sources close to the band say that Pete and Steve are still available. So Ladies…….”
Jay turned off the TV.

“Sam, I can explain.” Feeling her stiffen he turned her around to face him. “That girl, I haven’
t seen her in over a year. That

s the truth.” She looked at him. Sam was unconvinced. He swore under his breath.

“She’
s a dancer; we used her in a video we shot almost two years ago. I dated her for about two weeks. End of story.” He seemed genuine. “Sam anyone we use in a video, we

re either banging them or we

re in a relationship with them. Geeze, you saw them in LA.” She touched his face with her fingers. His face was a little rough, there was stubble but he looked so good unshaven.

“Hey, that was before I met you.” She kissed his mouth lightly. “I do love you.” She knew he did, the way he tenderly made love to her.

Over dinner, they discussed her move to Cali. Sam knew it would take some time as she had to give six weeks’ notice at the gallery. And she would have to sell her apartment.

“I was hoping you’
d come back with me on Monday.” He teased. Of course he knew it was impossible but he loved to see her expression when he demanded the impossible from her.

“I wish I could,” she said a little too eager. Jay covered her hand with his. He picked up on the tone and said:

“Why don’
t you? We go on tour the week after next in Canada for two weeks.”

“Jay, it’
s not that easy. I have Barbara

s show to deal with for another week,” she sounded almost desperate. He moved close to her and put his arm around her.

“Sam.” He said tenderly as he tilted her chin slightly. “I can’
t wait until we don

t have to say goodbye.” As he kissed her a flash bulb went off right in front of them. It blinded them both. For a moment neither of them could react and by the time Jay refocused the photographer was gone.

The Manager came over to them and said:

“My sincerest apologies Sir; it’
s so rare we get celebrities in here.” He turned to Sam. “Madam, please accept our apology with this meal on the house.” He bowed and left. Jay was livid.

The next morning Sam picked up the papers and sure enough there on the third page of the gutter press was the immortal kiss that Jay had given her. The headline read:

“Glam Metal lead guitarist caught in a passionate kiss with an unknown redhead, having an intimate meal in a trendy Soho restaurant.

“GM Jay who has been linked to a bevy of  beauties from the entertainment world , has a reputation of being unfaithful and has been known to be involved in coke induced orgies, had a child with a well known porn queen, who he seems to have turned his back on.”
 Sam read on;
“Sources close to the band have commented recently that, he has been hitting the drink and coke so hard that he has missed recording on their latest album and a video shoot for their next single.”
Sam couldn’t read on. How could they print such rubbish?

Jay laughed as she started ranting.

“Darlin, it’s
all lies. Don

t think about it,” He threw the paper in the bin. “Sam, I

ve been off coke for five years. And I don

t have any children.

“Brandi was a dancer not a porn queen.” He laughed at that. But it upset Sam to see her picture in the paper like that, even though you could hardly make out her face.

Sam

s phone rang; she looked at it and nodded for Jay to answer it.

“Sam, I’
ve just seen the paper,” it was Lisa. Sam took the phone. “Nice kiss.” She laughed and so did Sam.
“Are you sitting down Hon?” Lisa asked her. Sam said she was. “I’
m leaving Des, oh Sam I am so happy. I

ve had an amazing weekend. Look I

ll tell you later. We

ll be at your place in an hour OK.”

“Sure!” Was all Sam could say. She hung up. She would miss Lisa, when she moved to Cali with Jay. As she looked at him, she wondered if they would survive all this? Sam knew of course, that Jay was used to it. It was part of his life. To a degree, he thrived on it. But Sam wasn’
t sure that she could cope with that kind of intrusion all the time. Even though he assured her that his house in the hills was totally secure. There was no way that any paparazzi could get near them there.

Sensing her mood, Jay put his arm around her and hugged her close. She laid her head on his shoulder, in a few hours, he would be gone back to LA again and she wouldn’t see him again for several weeks.  If it weren’t for Barbara

s show, she would go back to LA with him tonight.

She went over to the refrigerator and took out some cranberry juice. The sound of her cell phone ringing brought her pack to the present. She answered it.

“You cow, your gay boy boyfriend will not be in my apartment after this,” It was Dan and he was drunk. Sam hung up. She was feeling stressed about everything.  With Jay leaving in a few hours, she wasn’
t going to let Dan upset her.

The sound of the doorbell ringing made her jump. Jay looked over and she nodded for him to go ahead and get it.

It was Nick and Lisa. Jay greeted Lisa with a kiss on both cheeks and high fived Nick. Sam smiled at both of them as her phone rang again. She picked it up and it was Dan.

“Bitch, don’
t you hang up on me.” Sam did just that. What was his problem? She wasn

t sure how much more of this shit that she could take from him. Without thinking Sam took the phone off the hook and switched off her cell phone.

“How have you two love birds been?” Lisa was asking waving the paper in front of them. Nick laughed. “Great picture Jay, practising for the new movie?” Jay grabbed Sam by the waist and said:
